  • Java system backup

    Hi,
    what is the procedure for sap java standalone system backup. as per my knowledge, we need to take a backup of:
    1. java database
    2. file strucute (sdm) for configuration data
    can any one provide me the complete document or steps to perform the standalone java system backup.
    Thanks,
    Niranjan.

    hi Niranjan V,
    i have followed follow the steps for backup in my landscape, the first procedure is the SAP recommended one for consistent backup for sap systemsand  the second procedure may take more space, but it is very easy to recover the system in short time.
    1)  take a backup by sapinst ( master installer ) is know as system copy.
                     ( or )
    2)  take another backup by file strucute (sdm) for configuration data
        a )  disable all sap and oracle services at OS level
        b )  take copy of whole of usr directory into a seperate folder ( ex:  bi_backup_01242009)
        c )  take copy of whole of oracle directory into the folder ( ex:  bi_backup_01242009)
    note : all sap and  oracle services should be disabled in services.msc in windows. where as in unix stopsap commnad stops all sap and oracle services please check if not stopped any one of the services ( processes) kill it.
    these are the complete steps for file strucute (sdm) for configuration data
    you have take the offline file backup by the following steps
    1)  down the sap instance by the command -> stopsap (unix) / MMC (windows)
    2)  i have created the the floder named  ->ex:  aed_file_backup_042409  in AED_Backup folder
    2)  /usr/sap       entire folder
    3)  /oracle/AED    entire folder except 102_64, desktop
    thank you,

  • System Backup with database open

    Is is possible to perform a system backup with the database opened, just left the f:\Oracle folder out of the system backup?

    Thanks for your replay.
    The database it's in noarchivelog mode.
    My customer wants to:
    1) export the database;
    2) perform a system backup with the database open;
    The issue here is if it is possible to backup the system without disturbing the database functionality. Because if we do a system backup with the database opened, the database will stop.
    So if I just left the f:\Oracle folder out of the system backup, will the database continue on working well?
    We have already tried to left the folders
    - F:\Oracle\Oradata\db_name
    - F:\Oracle\Ora10g\dbs
    - F:\Oracle\Ora10g\database
    Out of the system backup, but the database always stop and it is necessary human intervention to start it up again.

  • Abap+Java System Backup

    Dear Experts,
    We just take our bi system(abap+java)  backup online, so could you please help me which files we need to backup during the Sap system is online,
    As the below help.sap.com link said that for filesystem backup "Create a backup of the SAP system directory /usr/sap/<SID>." (before we need to stop SDM)
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/4b/d8f23ea4b42e5ae10000000a114084/content.htm
    Can we backup entire /usr/sap/<SID> directory while sap and db is still runnig ? if not which directories we need to backup ?
    Should we backup filesystem and db backup at the same time for a consistent backup, or can we schedule separately filesystem and db backup if there is no deployment exist between db backup and filesystem backup schedules,
    Best Regards,
    Atakan

    As suggested you can either go with the ofline backup for the abap and for Java you need to have the filesystem backup.
    Or you should go witht he file system backup of all the file system.But for that you need downtime.
    So what i shall suggest you thet go vith the online backup and have the archive log on and have archive logs backup too.
    And just the online backup completes have the Java export of the Java system of your BI.Durng the exportthe SDM will stop while the Servernode and the dispatcher service will be running,so no error will occur when some one is using the JAVA BI.
    This is the safest method ad you can recover the JAVA system any time.Please also have an offline backup at weekends of the abap system when its down.
    Please check the Password of DDIC of client 000 and the J2ee_admin before taking the export.
    Thanks

    Dear all,
    I have installed SAP NW 7.4 system SP level is SP5 ,after that i have cheked in service marlket palce Now service market plkace latest SP level SP7.
    For manula downlowd( directly from service market place) is difficult for java system and i have started sysnc with solution manager system to download patches through MOPZ.
    Below are the activities completed:
    1) Through template installed I have rgeisterd the system into Solman SLD.
    2) Sync completed succfully exact product version is shwoing in solman SLD
    3) after that I have checked in SMSY and LMDB its showing prefectly
    4) But in SMSY its shwoing only under technical system,not showing product systems
    5) I have assigned in product system in LMDB
    Now the issues while selecting the system group and logical componensts I have created one logical componnets -but in that SAP NW 7.4 is not showing and I have assumed SAP NW 7.3 EHP1 after creating my newly create dsystem is not shwoing in drop down.
    I ma getting belwo error.
    No system found for this product/product instance
    Message no. SOLAR_SPROJECT110
    Please sugegst how to reslove the error ,and a;lso please let me know is there any way to download latest pathces to dpownload from service market place .
    Advance Thanks

    Hi,
    re-check if the 7.4 system is correctly registered in the solman SLD system.
    Re-check LMDB definition for your 7.4 as JAVA system. you have to manually created the Product system. Ensure all the Component and definitions are correct.
    Also do a verrification run within the LMDB. This will confirm whether all the information is correctly defined.
    Please note - SLD -> LMDB -> SMSY.
    So, if the first 2 don't have the correct information, you wont have much joy with smsy.

  • Java System Copy with SPNego configured

    Hi,
    I just attempted a java system copy of our EP7, SP12 Portal to new hardware.  The copy itself was successful.  I am not able to login to the Portal.
    I ran the setspn -a HTTP/new_hardware same_user command to set the SPN with the ADS.  Still I am unable to login.  I have attempted to set the fall back login authentication method with the below SPNego settings and still I am not able to login.
    EvaluateTicketLoginModule ( SUFFICIENT )
    SPNegoLoginModule ( OPTIONAL )
    CreateTicketLoginModule ( SUFFICIENT )
    BasicPasswordLoginModule ( REQUISITE )
    CreateTicketLoginModule ( OPTIONAL )
    Could there be a step with SPNego the I may be missing with a system copy?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    A system copy tool is not yet available. There is some work going on about this and may appear later.
    What you can do is backing up and do it that way. See the "Technical Operatrions Manual"

  • System backup with rsync: Copy directories without files

    Hi guys,
    i'm using a single rsync command for backup / copying my system. I skip a lot of directories, because they are big or aren't needed to copy an existing arch installation. I found out, that the content of var/log and var/spool should not deleted entirely, becuase sub directories have to be there with specified permission/ownerships.
    This is my current backup-script:
    #!/bin/sh
    SRC="/nfs"
    DST="/mnt"
    sudo rsync -aAXv --delete $SRC/* $DST --exclude={/dev/*,/proc/*,/sys/*,/tmp/*,/run/*,/mnt/*,/var/log/*,/media/*,/lost+found,/home/*/.gvfs,/data/,/backup/,/home/*,/root/*,/var/abs/local/yaourtbuild/*,/var/cache/pacman/pkg/*,/scripts/*,/var/spool/cups/*,/var/spool/cups-pdf/*,/var/tmp/*,/etc/ppp/peers/*}
    I read the manpage of rsync, but i did not found out, how to copy a directory with all subdirectories, but exlude all files in it.
    By the way: i hope the options "aAXv" are perfect - i never had problem with them in the history. But one question: What is when a fileowner does not exists on the target machine, will it mapped to "nobody"? For normal users, this does not matter, becuase i skip the entiere /home dir, but in /etc could some files owned by service-users, that does not exists on the target maschine.
    Greetings,
    Sebastian

    Hello Rexilion,
    the tip with find and print0 was greate and works.
    The i know about -x option, but it do not work in my case (i don't know why), it will copy all content of /dev (it should not).
    In the moment, i'm using this script to copy my arch installation:
    #!/bin/sh
    SRC="/mnt3"
    DST="/mnt"
    cd $SRC # important for relative find command
    sudo rsync -aAXvz --delete $SRC/* $DST --exclude={/dev/*,/proc/*,/sys/*,/tmp/*,/run/*,/mnt/*,/media/*,/var/log/*,/lost+found,/home/*/.gvfs,/data/,/backup/,/home/*,/root/*,/var/abs/local/yaourtbuild/*,/var/cache/pacman/pkg/*,/scripts/*,/var/spool/*,/var/tmp/*,/etc/ppp/peers/*} --progress
    find var/log -type d -print0 | rsync -av --files-from=- --from0 $SRC $DST
    find var/spool -type d -print0 | rsync -av --files-from=- --from0 $SRC $DST
    Are there more directories, that could contain sensitive data, that should not copied to another computer (for example, when my arch installation should copied to a "foreign" computer)?
    /etc/passwd should not be a problem, the passowrds are hashed. And in /etc/ssh, i have no important private keys - ok, maybe i'm wrong, maybe i should regenerate them via "ssh-keygen -A"
    Any other ideas, what should be keeped in mind, when copy an existing arch installation to another "foreign" machine?

  • [SOLVED] Problem with full system backup with rsync

    Hello,
    I made a backups by following this page:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fu … with_rsync
    Then I copied it to another computer, edited grub and fstab and it's almost works.
    Commands su and sudo produces:
    Cannot set groups, operation not allowed.
    Maybe I must change permission of some file in system, because I backup system first to ntfs disk.
    And I copied it as root, so it have only root permissions. But I don't know which files must I change.
    Thanks

    Best not to try. If you backed up to NTFS, the best thing to do is to reinstall and then copy over stuff from your home, crucial config files etc. You will need to adjust ownership and permissions appropriately for everything you copy over from the backup.
    NTFS does not preserve ownership and permissions.
    Of course, if you still have your original installation, you can make a new backup instead. Just make sure to use a suitable filesystem.

    As it is offline backup via brbackup it seems sap starts automatically after completion of backup.
    So it is giving warnings that sap is already running.
    You can ignore it.

  • The system copy with Sapinst has changed the schema in oracle

    Hi;
    have done a copy Homogeneous of a system and after having all correct I have seen that has changed the name of the Schemas and the name of the tablespace.
    the system is a PI NW2004S.
    When the oraginal schema is SAPSR3DB, in the target system is SAPSR4DB, and all tables are here.
    The tablespace SAPSR3DB in the target system is empty and the copy has created one tablespace SAPSR4DB
    They are normal these changes?

  • How do I place my files on a separate hard drive from the system drive with OS X?

    I have a mac pro and want to place my files on a seperate hard drive to the system. Can anybody please ad vise me what I have to do to achieve this. My OS X is Lion 10.7.5

    Drag and drop will normally work if the separate hard drive is formatted right:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3003
    Mind you, an external hard drive is the ideal way of backing up data.   Software such as Carbon Copy Cloner or Time Machine can be used for backing up, and is much faster than using the Finder for drag and drop, and will ensure the entire system gets backed up.
    Time Machine offers whole unbootable system backup with archiving.  Each archive has a temporary existence as long as the backups are automatic.  When you make them manual, you can copy them off to a non-time machine source to ensure they exist longer.  The larger your destination drive, the longer the archives last.
    Carbon Copy Cloner is used most often for clones, and it maintains an exact replica of the original, deleting anything the original had deleted on the copy that it makes, and its backups are bootable when they are successful.  It offers archiving options, but they aren't as transparent as Time Machine.
    Firewire 800 is faster than USB 2.   PCI eSATA and Thunderbolt cards are faster.  The ability to boot the PCI based cards varies by card.  But the SATA drives can be inserted internally if you want them to be boot.  Some SATA drives need a jumper to be able to be read by your 1.1's slower internal SATA bus speed.  Check with the hard drive vendor.  USB 3 cards exist as well, though I've heard USB 3 has difficulty with WiFi interferance.

  • Restore Oracle with brtools to a Windows server with different disk structure

    Hello gurus,
    Is it possible to restore Oracle to a Windows machine that has different disk structure than a source machine?
    E.g. source machine had disks C:, D:, E: (on which Oracle data files were distributed), but a target machine has only disk C:
    Database is backuped with brtools.

    Hi
    I did some mass changes using a script... to be honest I'm not sure if I did it to restore FROM a different location, or TO a different location.
    You could also use Brrestore option -m|-mode to restore the datafiles to a new location.
    Check online help   -m|-mode - SAP Database Guide: Oracle (BC-DB-ORA-DBA) - SAP Library
    For instance the here under command will restore datafiles #10 to #20 to the /tmp directory
    brrestore -u / -b beokfyeu.pnd -c -m 10-20=/tmp
    You could find datafile ID by querying view dba_data_files
    select FILE_ID, FILE_NAME, TABLESPACE_NAME from DBA_DATA_FILES;
