Java System export/import

Hi All,
We are planning to export our one of Java SAP system. My doubt is regarding DB export.  I have DB installed on HostA and SAp installed on hostB.
To start with Db export, from where i need to launch sapinst tool .i.e from HostA (where DB is installed) or HostB) where SAP is installed). Please help.

Hi Harish,
You can do it from HOST A.
However, you can do it from any host.
Refer: SAP database instance export error
Also what is the version of your AS JAVA ?

  • Bad performance on system, export/import buffer many sawps

    Hello,
I have an ECC 6.0 system on AIX with 6 application servers. There seems to be a performance problem on the system, this issue is being noticed very well when people are trying to save a sale order for example, this operation takes about 10 minutes.
Sometimes we get short dumps TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED or MEMORY_NO_MORE_PAGING but not very often.
I am not very good at studying the performance issues, but from what I could see is that there are may swaps on buffer export/import, program and generic key. Also the HitRatio is 88% at  buffer export/import, which I think is pretty low.
I know that the maximum value accepted of swaps per day is 10000, is that right?
Can you please advice me what needs to be done in order for these swaps to decrese and hit ratio to increase? And also what else I should do in order to analyse and root cause and the bad performance of the system?
    Many thannks,
    manoliv

    Hi,
sappfpar determines the minimum and maximum (worst-case) swap space requirements of an R/3 application server. It also checks on shared memory requirements and that the em/initial_size_MB and abap/heap_area_total parameters are correctly set with the following procedure:
    /usr/sap/<SYSTEMNAME>/SYS/exe/run/sappfpar check pf=/usr/sap/<SYSTMENAME>/SYS/profile/<Profile name>
At the end of the list, the program reports the minimum swap space, maximum heap space, and worst case swap space requirements:
    Additional Swap Space Requirements :
You will probably need to increase the size of the swap space in hosts in which R/3 application servers run.
As a rule of thumb, swap space should equal
3 x Size of Main Storage or at least 1 GB, whichever is larger.
SAP recommends a swap space of 2-3 GB for optimal performance.
Determining Current Swap Space Availability: memlimits
You can find out how much swap space is currently available in your host system with R/3’s memlimits program.
    Here’s how to run memlimits:
From the UNIX command prompt, run the R/3 memlimits program to check on the size of the available swap space on the host system on which an R/3 application server is to run.
The application server must be stopped, not running.
    /usr/sap/<SYSTEMNAME>/SYS/exe/run/memlimits | more
The available swap space is reported in the output line Total available swap space: at the end of the program output. The program also indicates whether this amount of swap space will be adequate and determines the size of the data segments in the system.

  • SolMan 3.1 System Export/Import

    Dear Sir/Madam,
I currently have a Sol Man 3.1 Oracle Database which I have exported
using the Sol Man 3.1 Installation Master DVD.  (It was exported from a
    32-Bit Windows Server).
On a new server which is 64 bit Windows I have installed a central
instance, and am now attempting to install a database instance in order
    to import my database.
I have followed note 659509 but am still failing to import my database.
I have attached the latest sapinst.log to this message.
    Please advise.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Mark.

So please use the second option described in the oss note I sent you:
    Below an excerpt:
    Database-specific procedure
In this procedure, the database on the target system is not created and filled with the data of the source system, instead the database is created by copying the data belonging to the database from the source system to the target system. This procedure is described in the Installation and Homogenous System Copy Guide as Backup/Restore, Brcopy, R3Copy or DBCopy procedures depending on the SAP release.
Advantage: This procedure is quick and less complex.
Disadvantage: It is not possible to reorganize the database and there are database-dependent restrictions.

  • Exporting Java Add in and Importing to Standalone Java system

    Hi,
I have a requirement to export Java system which is  ABAP+JAVA  and build a new standalone Java system through import.  Is it possible, if so please provide any documents or links.
    Thanks
    Shiv

    Hi Shiv,
I've never heard that it's possible, but you could install a new Java system and import the self devloped components of your java software there (e.g. in SLD you can export a software component and then import it somewhere else). For database tables you might use an export- import function of your database, but I'm not sure about that.

  • ABAP +JAVA system copy process

    Hello All,
We are in process of building a server from a existing ECC 6.0 ABAP + JAVA system.
We are using system copy process where we are restoring ABAP databse from source system.
My question is about the JAVA part.
How can we copy java part? Can we export only JAVA part from ECC 6.0 ABAP +JAVA system and import this to target server.
    Please suugest the process.
    Regards,
    Manish

    Hi Manoj,
When you are doing restore of your P(DUAL stack)system then it will automatically restores your ABAP and JAVA scehema table spaces(Normal usage). And If you are using sapinst then take a CI export(for file system/java settings etc) of your source system and then you have to import that in your target system later in the process. So this procedure will automatially serve for both ABAP and JAVA schemas. Importantly this procedue was highly recommended by SAP,so if you run into any issues then you can go ahead and raise a OSS msg.
Other guy already pasted the link for homogenious copy guides
But you can do your java export from command level also(with out using SAPINST) and later you can import it into your target system. This means you are exporting your JAVA schema table space and importing.Keep it in mind that you have to export your Target java scehema not source system .If you do so then its of no use because you have to perform all post steps for java stack also. You can export and import table j2ee table space from your OS level at DB host using "exp javascehma/pwd ........."(not a full fledged command) and then you do the same by perforing "imp........." after restore and recovery from your P(source) system. But this is not at all recommended by SAP but this will work!.
Let every one to know if you need anything more than this.

HI Team, We are doing migration using system export/import method from win2008/SQL2008 to Win2012/SQL2012 . While doing export there was a problem with table  SOFFCONT1 , So we have followed the note 1922094  and changed the size of the package  from  1 GB to 2 GB  in SOFFCONT1.cmd , After this We have exported the data from the source system using SWPM tool. • (ABAP+JAVA) system is too big to export/import

We have some NW04s and ECC6 dual stack systems that we want to frequently clone using homogeneous system copy method.
However they can be as big as many terabytes.
Is there a way to clone they using a way other than export/import?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, you can copy ABAPJava systems in one run using either database-specific methods or database-independent methods. In a ABAPJAVA stack system, you need to run a separate export for the Java engine to archive SDM and application specific file contents. You will have to supply that java Export location on the target system, while performing DB specific system copy procedure.
Please refer [system copy guide for ABAP+JAVA stack |http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000670917&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000112&_OBJECT=011000358700000416402008E] along with the previously suggested links to get more information.

    Hi all,
I am trying to do a homogenous system copy.  I am following the syscopy guide for SAP NW 7.0 SR3 ABAP+JAVA systems

My question is this.  We are using an IBM XiV system for our disk storage, and we are able to restore from "snaps" which is their version of images.  Does anyone know if it is possible to restore or "import" the data in a system copy using an outside tool like this?  If so, do you have any information on how to?
I know it is possible to restore the database from an offline backup using BRTools rather than r3load and jload, and I just wanted to see if I can restore from a snap as it would save a lot of time in the procedure.
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    That approach is not supported.
The reason is: combined instances write the instance name and hostname in various places, on the filesystem in .properties files, in the JDBC configuration, depending on the java applications you run on top in various other places. What you're trying to do is effectively "renaming" an instance.
Technically it's possible to do it and to get it run, yes, but the supported way is running sapinst and choose ABAP + Java system copy. This will prevent you from lots of (not really documented) manual work after the copy.

  • Homogeneous system copy using export/import on WIn/Ora

    Dear experts,
i need to know the homogeneous system copy procedure using export/import method for following scenario as we are in the process of Data center migration of SAP systemsfrom location to another location.
    Source system:
    ECC6/BI7/APO(ABAP stack)
    OS:WIndows 2003
    D:B:Oracle 10g
Target System: New hardware installed on Virtual environment(VMware)
    No change of SID
    ECC6/BI//APO
    OS:WINDOWS2008
    D:B: Oracle 11g
It would be great if anyone can share the documentu2019s/links (Not SAP homogeneous system copy guide) which you have prepared for the homog. system copy using export/import on Windows/oracle  as i have done the system copy using backup/restore for ABAP stack and export/import for Java stack so far.
Therefore i am not sure about this procedure/prerequisites/checklist needs to prepare as i have gone through the SAP guide but it is not step by step document.
    Cheers

There are two approacahes for your  project
    1) First wether to use Oracle11g on target database
    2) Continue with Database Oracle 10.2 on traget database
If you want to use Oracle11.2 on your target database you have to search the installers which are supported for 11.2 database. If the installers are available then only you can install your target database using Oracle11.2.Other wise t use Oracle10.2.0.4 is supported on Win2008r2. You can use this version of Oracle database to build ur target database. It works fine . Absolutely no problem.
Later on you can upgrade the Oracle10.2 to 11.2 Onwards.
If installers are avialble you can use Oracle11.2 also. There is absolutely no problem.
As per my knowledge installers are available and supported with Oracle11.2.Also check the PAM before arriving on any deciscion.

  • System copy with Export/Import Distribyted system UNIX database, Windows CI

    HI
we have a distributed system witch I want to make a copy of
    Oracle Database on HP-UX
    CI + SCS on Windows
    Dual stack system  ABAP/Java
    1)  I have made an system copy with data base copy tools, and that works fine.
    2)  I have made a system copy export/import of a "central system"
If I try to make an export/import system copy on a distributed system it wont work.
( this work fine in a central system) I dont get anny error messages all gren checks marks !
It seems like the problem are in not finding the profiles from CI ?
It find the profiles for the sapgateway.
I someone are more interested I have more documentation with screen shots in a word document.
I Have used Installation Master SR3 and tryed with some older versions as well.
    I have read SAP Note 970518 - Hom./Het.System Copy SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) SR2
    SAPINST
Using virtual hosts for central and/or DB instances
    SYMPTOM:
You are using virtual host names for your central instance and/or the database instance (e.g. in a HA environment). Although SAPinst finishes successfully, some export steps are not being performed.
    SOLUTION:
Start the export with the property SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host>.
If the central instance and the database instance run on different hosts, run the database export with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host name of the DB server> and - if you run a Java or ABAP+Java system - run the central instance export with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host nameof the central instance host>.
If you run a central system with different host names in the profiles, handle the export as a distributed export, calling SAPinst with parameter SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME. Perform the export of the database instance on the DB server, calling SAPinst with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtual host of the DB server>.

Hi I have received folloving answer from SAP:
You're doing everything correct - besides one thing.
When you specify the profiles during the database export it cannot be
correct to specify the profiles of the gateway instance located on
    the same host.
As a consequence - it picks up the wrong instance G01 and sets the
property 'hasABAP' and 'hasJava' to 'false'...  - thus the export
is empty. You can see this within the corresponding 'sapinst.log' file.
The correct procedure would be to specify the profiles of the central
instance on the Windows Machine. If you cannot access them, you should
make them available by Samba or by any type of software which makes
it's possible to export filesystems or directories from windows to
    unix.
    Best regards

  • Homgeneouos system copy - Import/Export

    Hello everybody,
I have successfully upgrade system( ECC 5.0) m from windows 2003 (32)+ SQL 2000 to windows 2003 (64-bit) + SQL 2005. using attach /detach method, in post processing execute STM tool, update stats etc.
But we found performance is not much of improve previous system with only 4 GB RAM, new one with 32 GB RAM.
I have remove the parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE parameter from the profile so it is under ZERO MEMORY MGT.
This above said in testing environment till.
For testing, I planning for the same using export/import
    Plan :
    Source system
    1. Now, Export the database by executing sapinst.exe and then
select ABAP system-->MS SQL server -->Unicode -->ABAP Database content export
and continue with the Export procedure.
    On the Target system
    1. Create a directory EXPORT and copied all the exported data.
    2. Start the SAP installation(only start database instance installation), enter the required parameters up to the
window selecting the database instance installation method, on this
I will choose System copy/migration(R3load based)
    3. provide the path of the Export directory.
    4. Specify the order in which the package are loaded - I select alphabetical order
    5. No other option will select on this screen.
So for testing, I simply database export from source system and on target system I execute only Database instance installation, all process successfully done.
We have not any BW client so I am generate the DDL statement
Pleas suggest above plan is correct or anything missing?
    will improve performance of system?
    Thanks
    Ganesh

    HI!
As per suggested for DDL statement generation, we have no any productive BW client,
i tried on our Qaulity system by logging on regular using client, message display DDL statement
generated successfully,. but when I check in usr\sap\tmp folder there no file
    1. Unicode migration option selection is necessary?
in installation directory path is only /tmp so I checked in ( usr\sap\tmp) directory.
    2.
Above procedure is correct, but during target system installation please continue with SAPinst to install SAP instance as well.
As above statement, I started installation on Target system by SAPinst then from option
      mySAP EPR 2004 SR1
         System copy
              Target system
                 ABAP system
                    MS SQL Server
                        Unicode
                              Central instance installation
                              Database instance installation
                              MSCS Node A Configuration
                              MSCS Node B Configuration
                              Dialog instance installation
                              internet graphic server upgrad
I select  Database instance installation Database instance installation option. No any other process I have done.
    3. is same procedure for  system copy in clustering environment ( because our Production system in windows 2003 (64 -bit) clustering environment.
    4. After installation complet, in post processing  need to use STM tool, update static etc.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

Is your DB unicode?  If so, did you select the unicode flag in sapinst?

  • Client Copy Export/Import on large system. 1.5 TB

    Hi,
We have a 3 tier landscape. DEV, TST, PRD.
Database size in PRD is 1.5 TB (1500 GB)
Our developers need fresh master and trans data in TST and DEV.
We are thinking about making a
PRD --> TST  (1.5 TB) we do a system copy.
TST --> DEV (1.5 TB) we can't do a system copy. (Company policy says not to touch repository objects, version management what so ever in DEV....)
    1. How long will a client export / import take from TST --> DEV,  lets say we have "good HW" ?  Will it work ?
    2. I've read about TDMS but its toooo expensive.....is there maybe any 3 party tool that is good for this purpose ? Transfering 1.5 TB of data ...
    Br,
    Martin

    Hi,
    >1. How long will a client export / import take from TST --> DEV, lets say we have "good HW" ? Will it >work ?
In my opinion, a 1.5 TB database is much too big for a client copy.
It will work but may last a full week and would degrade the production system performance.
We have 1.3 TB databases and stopped using client copies since the system was 300 GB...
We only use database restores and renaming for system refresh even for the dev system.
There is procedure to keep the versionning of sources.

    Olivier

EXPORT d1200  TO MEMORY ID 2.

Unicode systems have a problem in that you can't define stuff as type X. Structures also have to be properly "bounded".  You can also no longer rely on code such as field1+7(9) .
You could define your structure as a STRING and delimit the fields with say a tab symbol ( use the attribute in cl_abap_utilities to get the tab char in a unicode system).
    export the string to memory.
on the import end use the SPLIT command on the string to re-create your data elements.
You will then have to manage the decimal arithmetic yourself.
It's a pain - but that's largely the point of Unicode --everything is treated as TYPE C.
Structures containing anything other than type C data are also a real problem if you want to upload / download data. Handling Binary files is a nightmare.
There are some SAP supplied utilities  / notes / documentations on converting to a Unicode system.
