JAVA Tiger Certification(SCJP 5.0) Books

Hello,
I would like to know whether the book for The certification for SCJP - 5.0 is available in India. If yes then please can anyone gimme the details about that. If no then when will it be available.

Can you please send me the book name.He gave his email address. I suggest you contact him directly. This thread is a month old--he is probably not going to read it.
And, if you do email him, put a specific subject line--for example, saying something "Question regarding SCJP 5.0 Book--I'm allairavi from Sun Java Forum". I've received messages from people here that I've almost assumed were spam, because the subject line was so vague. If you put a specific subject like my suggestion, the person probably won't think it is spam.

  • Java 2 Certification

    For anyone who's certified, what book/s do you recommend to prepare for the tests?
    Thanks,
    Heath

    HI,
    I got my cert last week.
    I highly recommend "Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide" by Roberts, Heller & Enerst ( known as RHE )
    I also reccomend you get into a good certification forum. www.javaranch.com has excellent and very professional forums on almost every aspect of java - including special cert forums.
    Do as many mock exams as you can in the run up to the test but first go through your book twice as mock exams are time-consuming and you want to be passing them to stick at it.
    Hope that helps and good luck!

    Hi,
    You should really have searched the net before you posted that question. The question if frequently asked, and there are several sites which lists good books, sample tests etc. One of those sites are:

  • Advice java 2 certification

    how much does one need to know in order to pass java certificatio?

    Depends on what you wish to achieve...
    Check - http://www.sun.com/training/certification/java/index.html
    You should first get Sun Certified Java Programmer and then can attempt Sun Certified Java Developer. SCJP might require around 3 months complete preparation.

  • Performance problems with new Java Tiger style recommendations

    Performance problems with jdk 1.5 on Linux plattform
    (not tested on Windows, might be the same)
    using the new style recommendations.
    I need fast Vector loops for high speed mathematical calculations, some
    hints about the fastest way to program that loop would be also great!
    After refactoring using the new features from java 1.5 (as recommended from
    SUN) I lost performance significantly:
    using a vector:
    public Vector<unit> units;
    The new code (recommended from SUN for Java Tiger for redesign):
    for (unit u: units) u.accumulate();
    runs more than 30% slower than the old code:
    for (int i = 0; i < units.size(); i++) units.elementAt(i).accumulate();
    I expected the opposite.
    Is there any information available that helps?
    The following additional information I got from Mr. Shankar Unni:
    I got some fairly anomalous results comparing ArrayList and Vector: for the
    1.5-style loops, ArrayList was faster then Vector, but for a loop with get()
    calls, Vector was faster. Vector was even faster than that using
    elementAt(), which was a surprise:
    For a million summing iterations over a 100-element array:
    vector elementAt loop took 3446 ms.
    vector get loop took 3796 ms.
    vector iterator loop took 5469 ms.
    arraylist get loop took 4136 ms.
    arraylist iterator loop took 4668 ms.

    If your topic doesn't change, please stay in your original post.

  • New version of Java Developer Certification

    Hi!
    I' ve done the NW04 Dev Consultant Java Certification and am now wondering - as NW7.1 with Java EE 5.0 gets into Ramp-Up - when a new version (with a delta certification?) will be available for this educational path.
    Additionally I would like to take either Portal or ABAP certification - could anybody tell me which of these two skills would better fit to my skill set and be more valuable in future?
    Regards,
    Thomas

    I think you can do the Portal certification with little effort, at least I did. I just read the training material once (I had some experience in the Portal) and certified.
    ABAP is really a big plus, even if you just develop portal/java/webdynpro/caf applications or components. But I personally wouldn't spend the time to get certified in it. It might be a better idea to go for the Sun Java 5 certification.

    Hi guys,

    Regards
    danialI haven't seen anything like Java+SQLServer2000 certification. I know that you can get MCSE certification from Microsoft that has a branch that includes SQLServer2000, and you can get Java and J2SE certification from SUN. You can also get Oracle certification, which is a much better fit if you are thinking of combining a DBMS and Java.
    Microsoft and Sun don't get along, and nethier do their respective softwares (Sun is one of the only companies that took Microsoft to court and won.). Microsoft did release a beta JDBC driver awhile ago. I'm not sure if it has made it to production status yet. Doesn't really matter though, because Microsoft will guarantee that Java and SQLServer2000 will be hard to make work, the JDBC driver will be buggy, and performance of SQLServer2000/JDBC will be guaranteed to be significantly slower than any SQLServer2000/.net implementation.
    Microsoft has always made sure that a competing integrated technology looks bad when compared to Microsoft's. A perfect example is when Microsoft wrote an Oracle ODBC/OLEDB driver that supported Oracle under Microsoft's Visual InterDev. After they had gotten 1000's of Oracle customers up and running on Visual InterDev, they pulled support for the driver, made sure it didn't work in the next release, then provided the Oracle customer with a smooth and easy transition to SQL Server, that the customer had to take, or there applications were not going to work for 8 months. This particular move by Microsoft made my architectural decision look completely stupid (VID * Oracle), so I'm still angry about it. (BTW, subsequently Oracle is providing a working OLEDB driver that works well with VID, but there really was an 8-12 months swing when they did not work together).
    Yikes, I really got off the subject here, sorry... Must be all the caffeine and sugar I've had over the last 48 hours...

  • Java 8 certification

    Hi all
    Does anyone know when java 8 certification will be available ? 2014 or 2015 ?
    Thanks !

    Congratulations!! 2781759 .
    I learned a lot during the studying process and it definitely is making me a better programmer than before
    This is exactly the reason I give to anyone who seek advice about certification. Of course it will help on Job, promotion and will add value to your CV, but most importantly you will learn Java better.
    Regarding Beta exam, I think it's rare opportunity because you can achieve same certification in discounted price, I guess for beta it is around 60 USD while actual price ranges 350 to 360.  Anyway, you got your certification :-)

  • Best Java 1.5 (tiger) certification book

    Hi,
    I am going to do the above exam
    Can somebody recommend me a good book which covers java 1.5 for the exam
    What about the following book
    McGraw-Hill - SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 5 Study Guide (Exam 310-055) - 2006
    Thanks

    Personally, I think the best way to prepare for the exam is to actually know Java, so that if you pass, the cert is more of a measure of your Java knowledge and less of a measure of your test-cramming.

  • SCJP 5.0 Books

    Hi ,
    I have a big problem in finding good books for scjp 5.0 certificatio ,ive looked for some on google and the only one i found was this :
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0782144195/qid=1126166519/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i2_xgl14/103-7450845-2711069?v=glance&s=books&n=507846
    And from the reviews i read ,it seems to be not good enough ,so can anyone recommend me a better book than this one or this one is enough ??!

    Gosling book looks good but i think this book is more
    technical or like a document more than a study guide
    to get the certificateOf course. It's a documentation of the Java language, and not restricted to SCJP topics. Still, everything you need to know is inside.
    ,i mean does it have examples
    for different topics ?Don't know, actually.
    and explains it clearly !!I would it expect to be pretty technical, but completely correct with no ambiguities, almost by definition.
    ...and some suggested questions ...anyone ?!!Certainly no questions inside.

    Does anyone know a good book to read to prepare for my up coming java certification?

    Hi,
    My experience about OCJP i preferred
    1. Addison Wesley A Programmers Guide To Java Certification 2nd Edition-Khalid Mughal
    2. Thinking in Java (4th Edition), By Bruce Eckel.
    First read this books and practice all programs. Do not refer Java Dump before read this books.

  • Java access to the Windows Address Book

    Does anyone know of a way to access the Windows Address Book from within Java? I would assume that it's not built in, since it wouldn't be a very mobile feature, but I'm not after mobility here.

    I believe all of the system components, such as address book, have OLE interfaces. OLE is the native way Windows apps talk to eachother. You an develop OLE interface with JNI.

    its an online international certification.. Wrong.
    im pretty sure its available all over the world.Wrong again. It's not available in countries where it's illegal to export US products to. Places like Iran and North Korea.
    It's probably also unavailable whereever Sun and Prometric have no offices.
    It should also available to people like you who resurrect long dead threads with incorrect information.
