  • Java plug-in fatal error

When I try to open an applet on a site I get the message "Java plug-in fatal error- several Java virtual machines running in the same process caused an error". Checking my add/remove program I see that I have J2SE runtime environment 5.0 updates 7,9,10 and 11. Java 2 runtime environment standard edition version 1.3.1_02, 1.4.1_01, and 1.4.2_03. Also Java runtime environment 6 update 1. I'm running Windows XP service pack 2. Hope someone has a solution to my problem.

This is an existing bug request:
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6516270
Providing this information could be handy:
    1) Does this occur on all browser(s) which includes Firefox, Mozilla other then Internet Explorer
    2) What is the outcome of running testvm applet:
    http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml
    3) Does this error start appearing after updating to 6u01
    4) Have you attempted running the applet after deleting Java Plug-in and browser cache
This could be an issue with memory management on the system.
    The possible workaround(s) are:
    1) Try setting virtual memory as System managed:
Windows xp users start--->control panel--->System--->advanced---->Performance(setting)---->Advanced---->virtualmemory(change)--->Click system managed size--->set then Ok restart your computer
    2) Set JRE parameter less then 3/4 of actual physical memory present in the system.
For example, 512 MB if RAM is 1024 MB.
    3) Disable any unwanted/new/confusing add-on in the browser (IE7).
For example, Windows Live Sign-in add-on can restrict Java functioning due to unknown reasons. Disabling same, if installed could be helpful.

  • Modify Webi Report causes Java Plug-In Fatal Error

    Environment: BOXIR2 SP3   Windows XP
    Java loaded:  Java 1.6.0_07  +  JRE 1.4.2_04  +  JInitiator 1.3.1.24
    Hi,
I have been happily developing Webi reports on my PC for several years and to my knowledge, I have not upgraded my Java software even when I get prompted by Java that updates are available as I know how problematic upgrading can be if it is not supported by BO.
I am suddenly getting a Java Plug-In Fatal Error every time I try to modify a Webi report with the message " The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded".
We have uninstalled Java and re-installed the same Java versions but stil the same problem.
    Any help appreciated.
    Best Regards
    Ben Iannunzio
    Adelaide South Australia

    Hi Ben
I remember having some issues running Java 1.6.0_xx on BOXI R2 and made sure we were on Java 1.4.2_xx.
Another thing you might want to try before uninstalling is to clear the Java cache, it can be found under...
    local install drive\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache
If you also haven't already done so, I'd reload the current Java version (after your uninstall) directly from the server by trying to create or modify a new WEBI report.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers
    Glen

  • FATAL ERROR: JVMPI, an experimental interface, is no longer supported.

    <p>
A common question on JDK 6 and JVMPI:
    <p>
"I have been using <b><i>Place Product Name Here</i></b>
    for profiling my J2EE application.
I am recently working on upgrading to Java 1.6.
When I try to launch the tool,
    I get the following error:
    <br><code><pre>
FATAL ERROR: JVMPI, an experimental interface, is no longer supported.
Please use the supported interface: the JVM Tool Interface (JVM TI).
For information on temporary workarounds contact: [email protected]
    </pre></code>
    <p>
    Why is this happening?"
    <p>
By default JVMPI has been disabled in JDK 6. The new and official interface is
    JVM TI.
The warnings about the removal of the experimental JVMPI have gone on for many years now, but there are still some older profiling tools that still use it.
You should contact the Company that created the tool, they will likely have a newer
tool that uses JVM TI, or offer you a workaround.
    <p>
Also, if you haven't tried the
NetBeans profiler you might want to give that a try, I just used it for the first time last week, it was quite nice.

    Hi Guys,
Probably you can remove the '_JAVA_OPTIONS' setting from your environment variables on the Windows OS. This setting is usually created by the install/setup file of the tool installed on your machine. In my case it was the QTP (Quick Test Professional) a testing tool from 'Mercury'.
I used to get this error message when I tried typing 'java -version' or 'java' on the command prompt.
    *Picked up JAVAOPTIONS: -Xrunjvmhook -Xbootclasspath/a:C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MERCUR~1\FUNCTI~1\Java\classes;C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\MERCUR~1\FUNCTI~1\Java\classes\jasmine.jar*
FATAL ERROR: JVMPI, an experimental interface, is no longer supported.
Please use the supported interface: the JVM Tool Interface (JVM TI).
For information on temporary workarounds contact: [email protected]
Error: could not load Mercury Interactive support. Please run the setup again.
If the problem persists please contact Mercury's Customer support.
Error occurred during initialization of VM
-Xrun library failed to init: jvmhook
After trying hard with the available information on the websites, I tried removing the '_JAVA_OPTIONS' and 'IBM_JAVA_OPTIONS' entry from the system environment variables. After removing this entry, I tried launching QTP Tool and it was able to launch without any issues and when I typed 'java' or 'java -version' I got the actual expected result.
Hope this would be of immense help for other guys !!
    Enjoy coding!!

  • Plug-in 1.4 Fatal Error

I had installed the 1.4 JRE on W2K and later removed it. I had actuall removed all Java from the system and then reinstalled the 1.3.1_04 SDK with it's JRE. Every time I try to start an Applet based application I get a Plug-in 1.4 fatal Error - The Java Runtime Environment cannot be loaded from <\bin\hotspot\jvm.dll>.
Does anyone know where this has retained it self on my systems as there should be no 1.4 JRE bits on there - there is no properties under my user\.java directory.

Hi, i did what you wrote, i created the keys in the registry and it worked but that is a detail, i configured the 1.3.1_02 classpath to load some classes, but the windows load 1.3.1_01 and this has no classpath configured. Anyone can help me, please
The fix that I came up with is this:
Go to the registry path - HKLM\Software\JavaSoft\Java
    Plug-in
Take note of the values under whatever version is
loaded, in my case it was 1.3.1_02.
Create a new key under the above-listed registry path
and name it 1.3.1_01 (or what ever version is
indicated to be missing in error msg)
Then create a DWORD value under the 1.3.1_01 key named
    UseJava2IExplorer and enter a value of 1.
Then create a string value named JavaHome and enter
the path of your installed Java Plug-in.
In my case and probably yours - problem fixed.
Don't know where the call for this registry key is
    coming from tho. ??

    Jack

    Hi,
Finally I was able to resolve after adding this jar file to the classfile
    path of the application.
Now,I am trying to access use linkTable.add(new Item(222,"222","333",12.33)) in JSP.
    where linkTable is a LinkedList.
    It fails giving following error:
This is the Error Message from the Exception:
Server caught unhandled exception from servlet [BaseServlet]: Server caught unhandled exception from servlet : Server caught unhandled exception from servlet [jsp]: Compilation of "softproduct.jsp" failed: d:\ibm\WAServer\temp\default_host\WCSServlets\_jameco_2F_softproduct_2E_jsp_jsp_2.java:824: No constructor matching Item&#40;int, java.lang.String, java.lang.String, double&#41; found in class jack.samples.Item. linkTab.add&#40;new Item&#40;2222,"222","222",22.33&#41;&#41;&#59; ^ Note: d:\ibm\WAServer\temp\default_host\WCSServlets\_jameco_2F_softproduct_2E_jsp_jsp_2.java uses or overrides a deprecated API. I dont understand why it is failing to add Item object to LinkedList.
can somebody help me in the forum in this regard.
    Thanks

The only fix I know of for this issue is to reboot the host.
If there is another fix someone please let me know as I have users who run into this often.
