Java update file missing

Software update wants to install the Java for Mac OSx 10.4, Release 5.
But: The update can't be installed because (and I quote):
"Make sure you have permission to write to /Library/Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate/swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/13/1 0/061-2828/rhxTG6vG9ZNgc3Bnc4nWJTyZ38q8YzgPgd, then try again."
This file does not exist in my system. I looked. Where do I get it?
Thanks, anyone!

Well, that rocked! So my Java is now updated.
But...now when I looked in the com.apple.SoftwareUpdate folder, the new Java item is the only thing in there. Should I drag all the other stuff (there's lots of it) except for the duplicate folder (the one that had been missing the salient item) from the temporary folder on my desktop back into the com.apple.SoftwareUpdate folder? Or, trash all the stuff in the temporary desktop folder and hope all my other programs work?
As I lack both knowledge and intuition about this stuff, perhaps you can understand my concern. Thanks so much for your advice.

  • Windows XP won't install drivers - "UPDATE" file missing

I have installed Windows XP SP2 successfully ( it was a bumpy road ) and have reached the step where I'm supposed to use a Leopard disc to install the necessary drivers for using Windows with the MacBook hardware (video, speakers, etc). When I insert the Leopard disc a window appears saying that the setup.exe file on the disc is newer than something or other, so I click OKAY ( the Boot Camp instructions say to agree to any windows at this point ). The window goes away, and another one immediately opens saying " the necessary UPDATE file is missing". I click OKAY and the window closes. The End. No driver installation. I can use XP, but there is no sound. Windows Movie Maker won't even launch because it says the audio components are not available. This is probably because the drivers weren't installed. I imagine there will be many other problems.... Anyone have this solution???

Here is a correction to my post. The window says: "This package requires a newer version of Windows Installer. Do you want to update the version of the Windows Installer on your system?" ( I click yes and the window goes away). The second window says: "The required resource 'Update' is missing". ( I click yes and the window goes away ).
I think maybe XP is trying to download something from the internet and maybe it can't since I probably need the drivers to do that....?

  • Java Applet Files in RH8 Output

    Hello to everyone!
My name is Livia, I am from Romania, and I work as a Technical Writer for a company that makes billing software for telecommunications providers. One of my tasks consists in creating WebHelp files for our web-based applications, and I have recently encountered a problem for which I need some expert advice.
While investigating a recent bug (the help isn't working properly on the web application it's for), I have discovered that there are some Java-related files missing from my help output: webhelp.cab, webhelp.jar and whskin_papplet.htm. These files exist in older projects created with RH5. I now use RH8. The Adobe help page for RH 8 (At http://help.adobe.com/en_US/RoboHelp/8.0/RoboHTML/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11aff59c2a0-7fb 6.html) lists these files as normally present in the output, and yet, in one of the discussion threads on this forum (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/24865), someone says "webhelp.jar is not being used in the output so you can safely remove it if required. It has been fixed in RH8 and doesn't come in the output."
What is the correct version? Should these files appear in the help output or not?
    Thank you,
    Livia Miron

    Welcome to our community
The files should not be present. They are not needed. They are (or were) related to the way the navigation pane works.
In RoboHelp 7 and earlier, there was the following option in the WebHelp generation dialogs:
As you can see, RoboHelp 8 does not offer this option:
    Hope this helps... Rick

  • Deploy Java Updates using SCCM 2012 SP1 and SCUP 2011

What is the best way to deploy Java updates using sccm 2012 SP1 and SCUP 2011?

    I didn´t find Kent´s blog useful when talking about Java. I can deploy Adobe products fine, but I have to import Java manually because not having Shavlik certificate. So with that said, I have the fallowing problem;
I have full offline installer unpacked, .msi file and Data1.cab. When I´m importing these binaries to SCUP, I only can point to .msi. Doing that, installation fails in client side fails because of lack of data1.cab fine, which is the main file.
Should I use some other downloaded files of Java? I couldn´t find any Java-update-file only type of files to download.

My ITunes got corrupted and I kept getting a message when updating iTunes64msi missing so I uninstalled all files and I thought I removed all registry values but  when reinstalling I get an older version is installed and cannot be removed. I need a solution.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • "Java-Bean: True" missing after being packed in jar file

    Hi All
    X86, Windows XP Professional, J2SDK 1.4.2
I complied a section of code ", which is from << Thinking In Java>>(3rd).
    Created a manifest file "BangBean.tmp"
    <<
    Name: bangbean/BangBean.class
    Java-Bean: True
    >>
And then packed class files into "BangBean.jar" with command
"jar cfm BangBean.jar Bang BangBean.tmp bangbean".
It's puzzling that "Java-Bean: Ture" was missing in the "BangBean.jar/META-INF/MENIFEST.MF" .
    <<
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.4.2 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Name: bangbean/BangBean.class
    >>
What's more, after altering the"BangBean.tmp" into this
    <<
    Java-Bean: True
    Name: bangbean/BangBean.class
    >>
    and had a another try.
I got a jar file with such MENIFEST.MF.
    <<
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.4.2 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Java-Bean: True
    Name: bangbean/BangBean.class
    >>
This jar file worked well in BDK's beanbox.
I've test it with JSDK 1.5.0, the same thing happened.
And I didn't encounter such problem in other bean programs.
I've searched " 'Java-Bean: True' missing " with google, but didn't get proper answers.
Is there anybody who can give a prompt about why this happend?

Since you didn't use code-formatting tags ([ code ] and [ /code ] without the spaces) it's kinda hard to look at it. But I'm sure it DID execute much more than just the return statement - maybe you're not closing a file or db connection, or maybe you're seeing a cached page, so it actually isn't executing ANYTHING on the server (is your browser set to never check for newer pages so it (almost) always returns from cache, for example?)

  • Update, restart, missing files

I just updated to itunes 12 because i have not updated in awhile, after the update, i restarted like it asked, but then when i tried to open itunes it had an error saying there was missing files and it couldn't open and to reinstall itunes, so i went to reinstall itunes and it said a later version of itunes was found. anybody else had this problem? also if you've fixed it, please tell me how.

This has just happened to me, and i am really annoyed ! I update and missing files, has happened to me before and i have un-install and install quicktime and itunes separately. So this, i should never update itunes again ?
Lizz88, what you have to do is locate where the original file/copy is. It is asking that because you moved the file to somewhere else.
For example, if i legally download a song, paste it into my desktop. Open it up with itunes and stick it in my library, then next day i moved it from the desktop, then itunes will ask to re-locate where the song is. So, wherever that song is find it, and locate it
If you deleted the file, then, i am not sure S:

  • New Apple Java update breaks jnlp file association

I thought this might be helpful for other people experiencing this problem.
It seems that the latest Java update for Macs (10.5 update 4) breaks the file association for jnlp files. When you use one it opens up a text editor. To make matters worse they have moved the location of Web Start.
The only way we have been able to fix this is:
    1. Control-click the jnlp file that was downloaded to the desktop and select “Get Info”
    2. Click “Open with” and select “Other…”.
    3. At the top of the window select “All Applications” in the Enable box.
    4. Browse to /System/Library/CoreServices and select Java Web Start.
    5. Click the “Always Open With” checkbox at the bottom.
    6. Click the “Add” button.
    7. Double-click the jnlp file on the desktop which should now launch the workbook.
If anyone else has some more information or another solution, then please reply here.

Thank you so much for this. I didn't find this post the first time I searched on this problem, and I was mired down in versions-specific directories with javaws--which appears only as a link that cannot be used as an association.
    MUCH appreciated!

  • Can not add pdf files to my e-mail-it just grinds on a 851kb file (11kb worked)not using gmail. windows xp. recently wnld java update.

downloaded some java update for downloading support from Ontrack. SInce then firefox will not attach pdf files to my e-mail. not using g-mail, using yahoo. Windows XP. It will add small files (11kb) but just grinds on a 851kb file and never attaches it.If I choose to unclick "enable java" - the "attach files" box disappears from the attach files menu.

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.

I still have problem with BSOD on my GS60 2PE Ghost Pro. so I thought I would try and update the BIOS. problem is It seems there are some files missing in the official download. And I try to find information what model my moder board is but there aren't any information anywhere...
    Files in Bios download

The update file isn't for the EFI update, try to follow the update guide below to do the update.
Update guide(UEFI BIOS Setup Utility): http://www.msi.com/files/pdf/Flash_BIOS_by_UEFI_BIOS_Setup_Utility_en.pdf
    Download link for BIOS(E16H2IMS.110): http://download.msi.com/bos_exe/E16H2IMS.110.zip
*Don't forget to change the boot mode to Legacy if you're running Windows 7.
Have you updated any driver which isn't downloaded from MSI website? Try to use the Windows 7 driver downloaded from MSI website and see if the BSOD still remains.
i have spoken with child.of.omen and it turns out his nvidia gpu is broken :/ which is why his windows is throwing blue screen of death on a nvidia .sys file :/ because even when he run 3DMARK once that software is about to use nvidia gpu bam BSOD happens again so it's defently a gpu failure.
So flashing his bios wont probably solve his BSOD problem which i do not think it will.

After Updating iBook on my ipad , Some PDF  files missed . how should restore them?

Your posted question is the key to your answer - sync them back to the iPad. You can still connect the iPad to your PC, launch iTunes, select your iPad name from the left side under devices - then go to the apps tab in iTunes and select all of the apps to sync again.
Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is selected as well. If you make changes to the app configuration, click on Apply in the lower right corner of the iTunes window.
