Java Web application with SSO cookie

Hello All,
We are having a web-Java application which is interacting with SAP-Web As and then calling RFC'c to get data from backend.
My scenario should get user name and password from the MYSAPSSO2 cookie generated by the server.
There are few issues with the application.
1)When I am launching the application from my browser , a small pop up comes up "The server at Upload Protected area requires a user name and password".When I am providing the user name which is existing on my Java and ABAP stack ,its saying  "403   Forbidden :You are not authorized to view the requested resource."
But when I am logging in with super user j2ee_admin, its allowing me to enter the application.
Please let me the what settings are required for my user on the server to bypass this small window of protected area.
2) Do we have any option to generate MYSAPSSO2 cookie programmatically ?
3) Do we have any option to modify /add username in existing MYSAPSSO2 cookie?
Thanks & Regards,
Abhivyakti

  • Java web application and SSO in Portal

    I have successfuly deployed an EAR file(Servlet/JSP) to my OC4J. In my deployment descriptor, I have added security-constraints tag to implement authenticaion using LDAP. In the process of deploying, I have also specified the LDAP associated to my OC4J as my user manager. This in effect adds up a jazn auth method=sso in orion-application.xml after deployment.
    My application, when accessed independently as http://hostname:port/app/index.jsp, is working fine. Login page pops up when the user hasn't logged in yet and redirects to index.jsp when authenticated.
    however, when I added this exact link to oracle portal so that everytime a user logs into the portal, he/she will be automatically logged-in to my application, it turns out that it isn't recognizing the logged user and keeps flashing an page cannot be accessed error.
    Any idea what to do with this?

  • Integrating a Java web application into the SAP NetWeaver Portal

    Hello experts,
    We have a requirement to integrate a Java based web application into the SAP NetWeaver Portal using iView/iFrame technology. The Java based web application is completely independent from the SAP environment but should be displayed as part of the SAP Portal environment. The other requirement is the main navigation menu for the Java based web application should be configured and provided in the SAP Portal.
    Any pointers on how exactly this can be done would be of great help.
    Also how can the SSO (Single-Sign-On) to the Java application be implemented so that the user can logon to the java application through the portal without providing the user credentials again.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I think you can use URL iviews to integrate your java web application with EP. you have the option of doing SSO with the application as well.
    Have a look at the sap help material

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

    I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
    In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
    To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
    I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
    It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

    I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.
    Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated?

    Jupp,
    It fails in a similar way.
    What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
    When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd

    DefaultServer started.
    In the "Messages" pane, however, things are not looking so good:
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr

    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
    But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
    So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr
    [7:26:39 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.

    #### Server Instance DefaultServer could not be started: Server Instance was terminated.
    The "Running: DefaultServer" now comes up with:
    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
    [waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
    [Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
    The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
    To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
    Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
    I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

  • Open a SAPGUI transaction from a Java web application

    Hi all,
       We are in the process of developing a Java based web application with SAP J2EE engine - but not SAP Enterprise Portal. One of the requirements we have is from one of the web screens there needs to be a button which launches SAPGUI and take the user to a particular transaction in SAPGUI. The  user is going to have SAPGUI installed on their desktop.
       We were planning to user SAP Shortcut technique for launching the SAPGUI but the issue with that is the user has to logon each time ( even thought it is possible to have the password stored - even then there will be other messages that the user has to pass through before reaching the final  transaction ). The users are going to have a number of items in the screen and they need to go through this for every item.
       I was wondering if there is anyway this can done so that the user does not have to go through all these steps ( BTW, the user is already authenticated on the web application and so functionally done not have to be authenticated again).
    ANy suggestions will be highly appreciated.
    Regards
    Ravi

    Hello Gregor,
    SAPGui is inatalled on each user box, we can launch the SAPGui thick client from an iview (to run on a seperate window).
    How can I pass (R/3 logon) parameters to the SAPGui command line?
    Thank you
    AAAttar
    eg:
    would a batch file with saplogon then sapgui work?
    DOS command prompt [CMD]
    >saplogon.exe -user=... -password=... -system=QAS123 -client=001 -tcode=session_mananger

  • How to call Xcelsius in Java Web application without OpenDoc

    Hi,
    We require to call Xcelsius Dashboard from a Java Web application. We cann't use OpenDoc function as result of some client preferences/restrictions
    Please let me know, what would be the other method to call the Xcelsius Dashboard from a Web application.

    Xcelsius docs are in swf format.  You could probably just host them without security and view with flash.

  • Weblogic 10.0 web application with CLIENT-CERT suddenly redirect with 401

    Hi everybody,
    we currently have a Weblogic Portal 10.2 web application with an integrated Windows authentication.
    I configured a Negociate Identity Asserter and an Active Directory provider.
    I configure Kerberos services, so we have succefully access to our application through the Windows session.
    But, most of time we have 401 errors on any page when navigating. In fact, the error occures when clicking on a link when a page is not fully loaded.
    For our tests, we use the security webapp provided by BEA/Oracle, and it just work.
    The web.xml used in our webapp :

  • How can make java servlet sent soap message to other java web application

    hello,
    i want to make simple servlet send soap message to other java web application containing web service????
    for example
    web application " A " contain web service add two number
    java servlet " B " send soap message contain num1 and num2 to A to add them.
    how can do this????

    I tried that but my problem is that the code is so old. At least what I saw. I don't know how old is too old and I'm trying to do things "right." I saw code from 1998, but I don't know if that's still what you do. It might still work, but that doesn't mean it's correct. There's so much out there on Java that so old that half the time I'm not sure what to do because some other technology in J2EE or the latest Java SDK might have come up with a new way to do things. Thanks.

  • Business Objects Enterprise 4.0 java web applications support

    Hello experts,
    We are in the process of migrating our BOEXI R2 installation to BOE 4.0. To host BOE java web applications , we are targetting our SAP NW CE 7.2 installation, in accordance to the latest BOE PAM.
    Now, the PAM mentions that SAP NetWeaver Java Applications Server 7.3 is supported as well.
    Our questions:
    1. Is SAP NetWeaver Java Applications Server 7.3 = SAP NetWeaver 7.3?
    2. Knowing that SAP NetWeaver 7.3 is SAP NetWeaver CE 7.2 next release (ref.  https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001342562009), if we migrate our SAP NetWeaver CE 7.2 to NetWeaver 7.3, than, we should still be supported by SAP, right? ... assuming that the answer to question 1 is yes...
    We are confuse with the interpretation of the latest PAM arround the "SAP NetWeaver Java Applications Server 7.3" statement and if anyone of you experts can help us, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you and best regards,
    Nathalie

    Hi Nathalie,
    The BI4.0 PAR details 2 distinct SAP NW versions which are supported:
    SAP NetWeaverCE 7.2 SP3
    and;
    SAP NetWeaverJavaApplication Server 7.3
    You ask:
    1. Is SAP NetWeaver Java Applications Server 7.3 = SAP NetWeaver 7.3?
    Yes, these are the same products.
    Correct, if you migrate from SAP Netweaver CE 7.2 to Netweaver 7.3 you will be supported against BI4.0. The other alternative would be to upgrade your CE 7.2 version to CE 7.2 SP3.
    I hope this is a very helpful answer to you.
    Kind regards,
    John

  • How to avoid directory listing in java web applications.

    how to avoid directory listing in java web applications.
    That is on typing the url of the application it should not the directory listing. Welcome tag in web.xml doesnot fully solve the problem, since still the images folder etc is still accessible

    I know of two ways.
    If you're using tomcat and have access to the conf directory.
    Edit your $TOMCAT/conf/web.xml. Find your default servlet properties and change
      <servlet>
        <servlet-name>default</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>org.apache.catalina.servlets.DefaultServlet</servlet-class>
        <init-param>
          <param-name>debug</param-name>
          <param-value>0</param-value>
        </init-param>
        <init-param>
          <param-name>listings</param-name>
          <param-value>true</param-value>
        </init-param>
        <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
      </servlet>to  <servlet>
        <servlet-name>default</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>org.apache.catalina.servlets.DefaultServlet</servlet-class>
        <init-param>
          <param-name>debug</param-name>
          <param-value>0</param-value>
        </init-param>
        <init-param>
          <param-name>listings</param-name>
          <param-value>false</param-value>
        </init-param>
        <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
      </servlet>And restart your server. This will affect every directory on the server, and return a 405 directory browsing forbidden error.
    Another way, is to place an index.jsp inside each directory with a simple one line redirect to your applications CONTEXT_PATH.response.sendRedirect("http://yourserver/yourapp/");This will only affect specific directories which contain these index.jsp files.
    Hope this helps

  • Good exception handling policy for Java web application

    I'm looking for a good exception handling policy for Java web application. First I found this Java exception handling best practices - How To Do In Java which says that you should never catch the Trowable class nor use e.printStackTrace();
    Then I found this Oracle page The Message-Driven Bean Class - The Java EE 6 Tutorial, which does just that. So now I'm confused. Is there a good page online for an exception handling policy for Java EE Web applications? I have a hard time finding one. I've read that you should not catch the Exception class. I've been catching it previously to make sure that some unknown exception doesn't slip through early in the loop and stops all other customers from executing later on in the loop. We have a loop which runs once a minute implemented using the Quartz framework. Is it OK if you just change the implementation to catch the RuntimeException class instead of the Exception class? We're using Java 7 and the Jetty Servlet Container.

    I'm looking for a good exception handling policy for Java web application.
    If you have not done so I suggest you start by reviewing the several trails in The Java Tutorials.
    Those trails cover both HOW to use exceptions and WHEN to use them.
    This trail discusses  the 'controversy' you mention regarding 'Unchecked Exceptions'
    http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/essential/exceptions/runtime.html
    Unchecked Exceptions — The Controversy
    Because the Java programming language does not require methods to catch or to specify unchecked exceptions (RuntimeException, Error, and their subclasses), programmers may be tempted to write code that throws only unchecked exceptions or to make all their exception subclasses inherit from RuntimeException. Both of these shortcuts allow programmers to write code without bothering with compiler errors and without bothering to specify or to catch any exceptions. Although this may seem convenient to the programmer, it sidesteps the intent of the catch or specify requirement and can cause problems for others using your classes.
    Why did the designers decide to force a method to specify all uncaught checked exceptions that can be thrown within its scope? Any Exception that can be thrown by a method is part of the method's public programming interface. Those who call a method must know about the exceptions that a method can throw so that they can decide what to do about them. These exceptions are as much a part of that method's programming interface as its parameters and return value.
    The next question might be: "If it's so good to document a method's API, including the exceptions it can throw, why not specify runtime exceptions too?" Runtime exceptions represent problems that are the result of a programming problem, and as such, the API client code cannot reasonably be expected to recover from them or to handle them in any way. Such problems include arithmetic exceptions, such as dividing by zero; pointer exceptions, such as trying to access an object through a null reference; and indexing exceptions, such as attempting to access an array element through an index that is too large or too small.
    Generally don't catch an exception unless you plan to HANDLE the exception. Logging, by itself is NOT handliing.
    First I found this Java exception handling best practices - How To Do In Java which says that you should never catch the Trowable class nor use e.printStackTrace();
    That article, like many, has some good advice and some poor or even bad advice. You get what you pay for!
    I've read that you should not catch the Exception class.
    Ok - but all that does is indicate that a problem of some sort happened somewhere. Not very useful info. Java goes to a lot of trouble to provide specific exceptions for specific problems.
    I've been catching it previously to make sure that some unknown exception doesn't slip through early in the loop and stops all other customers from executing later on in the loop.
    If the exception is 'unknown' then maybe it NEEDS to 'stop all other customers from executing later on in the loop'.
    That is EXACTLY why you don't want to do that. You need to identify which exceptions should NOT stop processing and which ones should.
    Some 'unknown' exceptions can NOT be recovered and indicate a serious problem, perhaps with the JVM itself. You can NOT just blindly keep executing and ignore them without risking data corruption and/or the integrity of the entire system Java is running on.
    Is it OK if you just change the implementation to catch the RuntimeException class instead of the Exception class? We're using Java 7 and the Jetty Servlet Container.
    No - not if you want a well-behaved system.
    Don't catch exceptions unless you HANDLE/resolve them. There are times when it makes sense to log the exception (which does NOT handle it) and then raise it again so that it gets handled properly later. Yes - I know that is contrary to the advice given in that article but, IMHO, that article is wrong about that point.
    If you have ever had to maintain/fix/support someone else's Java code you should already understand how difficult it can be to find WHERE a problem occurs and WHAT the exact problem is when exceptions are not handled properly.

  • High thread context switching for java web application

    We have been load testing our java web application and observe high cpu usage with 50 users (which doesn't seem practical). The CPU shoots up above 80%. While profiling it with java flight recording (JFR) we see that the context switch rate is 8400 per second (as seen in the Hot threads tab on java mission control). Analyzing the hot threads in jfr, it seems the cpu usage is distributed across the application threads with each thread using less than 3% cpu.
    Increasing the user load to 100, 150 or 200 users we see the cpu shooting up above 90%, the throughput (transactions per second) remaining constant (as seen for 50 users load) while the response time crosses the acceptable threshold values (3 sec). Decreasing the user load to 20 users shows the cpu usage averages out to be above 55%. It certainly isn't true that the application threads are using up the cpu since our application is not a CPU bound application. The Hot Packages tab under Code tab group confirms this by showing that most of the time the application spends in is executing database queries.
    We use glassfish 3.1.2.2 as our application server where the max thread pool is configured to be of 100. Oracle Linux Server release 6.4 is our operating system with linux kernel version as 2.6.39-400.214.4.el6uek.x86_64. I tried executing linux commands namely "watch -n0.5 pidstat -w -I -p " and "watch -n.5 grep ctxt /proc//status" to see the voluntary and involuntary thread context switching at OS level but they don't give any results.
    Suspecting that high context switching could be causing the cpu to shoot up, do you have guidelines on what could be done to confirm that thread context switching is the cause of high cpu and what are there ways to tune the jvm or the application if that's the cause?
    Thanks!

    Kelum -
    We just saw this issue today for the first time. Have you been able to find a cause?
    We upgraded our 32bit Windows operating systems this weekend to use the /3GB flag. Since then, we have seen that our servers have ample heap space, but are dangerously low in PTE memory.
    But when we've been diagnosing the state of the server that produced this error (we run 2 nodes on 3 different computers; only 1 produced this error; the other 5 are working normally), everything looked fine. The server was reporting sufficient PTE availablility, plenty of heap space, and around 172 threads (we expect to be able to run many more than that).
    When we restarted the node, it came up fine and everything appeared to be working normally.
    So I'm looking for any clue as to the root cause, and what kind of resolution to explore. Any clues or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  • Integrate Web application with Oracle BPM

    Hi,
    Can you guide me in achieving the following scenario:
    1. Integration web application with oracle BPM
    Say, I have a application where I need to trigger an event to call Oracle BPM. For ex: On click of submit button call the Oracle BPM workflow to do some process and then revert back to the same application with an alert or status message. Please let me know the steps to acheive this.
    Thanks
    ST

    Hi,
    I take from this description that you currently have your Web Application and you would possibly like to trigger or create an instance into an OBPM business process. If this is the case, you have several options available here:
    a) Use PAPI (Java API).
    b) Use PAPI-Ws (SOAP API).
    c) Use some sort of communication channel that the process is implemented to listen (for example a JMS Queue or Topic).
    For the first 2, you can try to take a look into the official Documentation page for OBPM through this link: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/index.html (Check the For Developers section).
    If I have miss interpreted your question, please do not hesitate to provide more details.
    Cheers,
    eduardoc.
