Java webstart not installed with 1.5.0

I have uninstalled J2SE 1.4.2 and installed J2SE 1.5.0 upgrade. I have noticed that java webstart application launcher was not installed in the start menu or programs menu. Is Sun not supporting it any more or is it in a different download? What happened to it? Where can I obtain it?

Nevermind. I have seen the webstart documentation. Now, I understand what you all were trying to tell me. Thanks for information any way. From now on, I will read the docs first. then experiment and if i still have problems, then i will post a forum message. I am sorry that did not I catch on.

  • CNA 6 InstallShield Wizard will not install with a JVM not found message

I ran CNA 5.5 up until last week when Java 7 71 update hit. When I tried to launch, I received JVM Not Found, that was all. So I figured it was time to install CNA 6, however during the install process I now get a pop up box stating  InstallShield Wizard will not install with a JVM not found message. No other error messages, no logs, and the installation ceases. Tried installing CNA 5.8.9.1, and CNA 5.5 again, all stop at the same point with the same message. Anyone else see this issue?

When you start Network Assistant, Java determines whether the resources it needs are available. If they are not, Java displays the message Could not create Java Virtual machine, and the session ends. To overcome this problem, open the file C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\CiscoSMB\Cisco Network Assistant\startup\startup.properties (the default installation path), and modify this entry:
    JVM_MAXIMUM_HEAP=1024m
Replace 1024m with a lower setting that does not exceed the available RAM. There is no way to foresee what value will work. Try 512m , and lower it further if necessary. You can use the dial peer tag range 2500 to 2999 out-of-band to define your own dial peers.
If the Network Assistant InstallShield wizard fails to start, it is likely that the temporary folder location defined through the environment variables TMP and TEMP has some problem. Assigning a correct temporary folder location can fix such problems.

  • Apple Mobile Device Suppurt not installing with iTunes 10.6.3

Hey guys, any help with this would be much appreciated., I had an issue a couple of days ago where I couldn't reinstall the latest itunes (10.6.3) I have now managed to install this current version but with one major problem, Apple Mobile Device Support didn't install with it. I tried everything, I've tried uninstalling itunes and reinstalling it again with and without the anti virus turned on, I've tried a system restore, I've tried using an old version of Apple Mobile Device Support, and still nothing.
My itunes keeps saying this whenever I plug in my iPad, "This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install the 64bit version of itunes" I've done that, it didn't work, however, itunes has managed to install successfully on my desktop pc, which is Windows XP, with apple mobile device support, but the machine I'm having trouble installing itunes with Apple Mobile Device Support on is my Laptop which is running Windows 7. I doubt this is a problem with my laptop, the system restore I did confirmed that, and the issue only returned when I tried reinstalling the latest itunes.
Is this problem with Apple Mobile Device Support not installing with the latest itunes a bug? i hope so, because I've  read up ways to solve this problem but alot of it gets too technical and I'm not the most technical person when it comes to computers and all that.
Is anyone else having similar problems, if so, how did you solve it?
Thanks, hoping to hear back soon

I've also read somewhere about using Win Rar to extract files to do with apple mobile device support from the itunes installer file, would you recommend that to? I don't really fancy the idea of doing anything that involves my registry because knowing me I'll end up screwing my laptop up for good lol
It's a little more involved than just doing a standalone AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi install, I'm afraid. The relevant drivers in AMDS are not digitally signed for 64-bit XP, so you have to force XP to accept a driver install that it would try its damnedest to not do. There's no driver issues for other 64-bit componentry in the installer package (I think the GEAR drivers install on XP 64-bit systems), but I believe there's still a bit of fancy footwork involved in getting them installed too ... although it's been a long time since I've looked at an instruction set, and I might not be recalling those things correctly. (So if you're not comfortable with system modifications, it might be best to steer clear of the Orca-based techniques ...)

  • HP Lazer Jet Pro 200 not installing with Windows 8 64 bit

My brand new HP Laser Jet Pro 200 MFP M276mw is not installing with my brand new Acer One725-0487 Netbook that has the Windows 8 64 bit operating system. I bought them both at Office Depot this week. I downloaded the software of HP.com/support and when I go to setup the wireless function (Loading from the Acer to the printer) it takes a long time and gets to 99% complete and then has a terminal failure (two times).
Can someone please offer some advice on how to get past this. Thanks very much, Mark

  • Java Webstart not working on Lion

    Hi,
I bought Lion yesterday, and then did a clean install (by copying the InstallESD file on a DVD and partitioning the whole drive again) on my iMac.
Everything seemed to be working fine, except Java. I Installed Java, from the Mac update menu (by going to Java prefs first), and some webapps based on Java that i use are working fine, but the most important doesn't.
It's ProRealTime, a financial charting application based on java. I download the webstart (.jnlp) file and open it, i see the app icon coming on the dock, and just when it tries to open, the app crashes and gives me an error.
I've contacted ProRealTime, and been talking to them since yesterday, and they say it's an issue with the Java version for Lion, and its apple who has to fix it.
Anyone has any idea, on how i could get it to work , or what should i do ?
I went back to my last Time machine backup of Snow Leoaprd, and won't upgrade to Lion again until Java works well again.
I don't understand why this time apple didn't include java directly with the OS, like in previous versions. For my work, a well working java is probably the most important feature that i need on my work imac. It's not so important for my other macs, that's why i'll still upgrade there, but it's crucial for work.
I'll really appreciate any comment or ideas.
    Thanks in advance !

    Hi again,
After days of researching, installing and uninstalling everything, everywhere i've found what causes this problem.
I installed Lion on my mac mini at home, and prorealtime (java) was working perfectly fine. So then i installed Lion again on my office imac, and tried again. At first Java was working fine, and i could use ProRealtime. But then, after installing all the other apps and drivers i tried again and it crashed like before. The only main difference between my imac and mac mini is a driver i have in my imac, called Displaylink. It's for using an extra screen through a USB to DVI adapter (i have 2 extra monitors on my imac, one connected directly and the other connected through this USB adapter).
So then, i uninstalled this Displaylink driver, and tried Prorealtime again, and it was working perfectly. So clearly the issue is created by a conflict between the displaylink drivers (and my 3rd screen) and java for lion.
And for now it's an issue only with java, since the drivers work fine when i installed them and i could see and use the 3rd screen like in Snow Leopard. But when i use this java app they create me this issue.
I've sent feedback to Displaylink but as always, i'm open to any suggestion , anyone could have about this.
As i said before i really need ProRealtime to work properly (which means with all 2 extra screens).
    Thanks !!

  • HT5268 Just purchased Imac and Macbook pro and upgrades to Mountain Lion. Java will not run with one important site where my Grandson is in Kindergarten out of state with in room camera. What to do. This is very disappointing and non of apple geniuses kno

My new IMac and Macbook Pro are each loaded with Mountain Lion. Have Office for Mac also
When I try to see my Grandson on webcam out of state the login will not activate. For PC use I needed Java and Active X to let it run. My Java is checked as ready to go but nothing happens. Otherwise these are great computers. Please help me through the process. The Geniuses at my apple store can't understand what to do.

By default, OS X does NOT come with Java installed nowadays. You need to open the Java Preferences app found in Utilities; when you do that the first time, it will inform you of the fact and offer to install the product for you.
Afterwards, due to a major security issue we had back in the first quarter of the year, the plugin is disabled by default. You need to revisit the Preferences and enable manually. It will auto-disable if unused in awhile.
Lastly, you may have to adjust which Java instance is being used, the 32-bit or the 64-bit. Default is 64-bit, but some applets crash & burn or outright refuse to run in such a platform. You can prioritize which version you prefer by dragging on top in the Preferences.

  • Java console not compatible with 6.01 Mozilla update

Since the 6.01 Firefox update, I can no longer view flash panels and some images are not appearing on web sites. I look and found all the java consoles greyed out with the message they were incompatible with 6.01 Firefox. So what do I do now? I also notice that websites suddenly disappear when I did not close them. Please fix this problem.

    Hi catnip009:
I can confirm cor-el's information that it is "normal" for the Java Console extension to be disabled in FF6 (see my post [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/870013#answer-247544 here] for instructions on how to test your Java installation).
When you say "flash panels", do you mean that '''Adobe Flash''' doesn't seem to be working on some web sites with FF6?
If that's the case, then try the following:
First, check your Flash installation [http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ here] on the Adobe web site. If your Flash isn't working or you don't have the latest Flash v. 10.3.183.7, do the following:
    # Uninstall Adobe Flash from the Windows Control Panel
    # Download and run the [http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Adobe Flash Uninstall Utility] to clean out remnants of any old installation
    # Re-boot your PC
    # Run the Adobe Flash Uninstall Utility again for safe measure
    # Download the Adobe Flash v. 10.3.183.7 standalone plugin installer (the non-IE NPAPI version) from the FileHippo site [http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_firefox/10462/ here] . Be sure to download v. 10.3.183.7 (the current stable version) and not a beta test version. '''Save the installation file to your hard drive and do not run the installation from your browser'''
    # Install Adobe Flash from the Run command (Start | Run) with the new installation file with all browsers and instant messenger software closed
    # Check your new Flash installation [http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ here].
If you also use the IE browser, the ActiveX version of Flash v. 10.3.183.7 for IE can be downloaded from FileHippo [http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/10461/ here]. If you prefer you can re-install Flash from the Adobe site ([http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ here] for auto-detection of OS and default browser; [http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ here] for any version of Flash), but I prefer using the standalone installers from FileHippo because Flash occasionally doesn't install correctly when you run the installation from the Adobe site via your web browser.

  • Java update not installing

The latest update from mac "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4" "Version 1.0" is not installing. The software update is downloaded then at the point of installation it comes up with a message saying that the update installation failed.
Also I have just started noticing my macbook pro is getting very hot when running simple applications and that the battery fails when it still says it has 20 minutes life left. This has only started recently after the last macbook update and has got progressively worse.
Any help would with either issue would be great.
    Thanks

    HI,
Repair disk permissions. First, Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Launch Software Updates from the Apple Menu 
Follow the instructions for the Java installation. When it's finished, launch Disk Utility again, and repair disk permissions one more time and RESTART your Mac.

  • Getting "Java runtime not installed" even though it is installed ?????

I am having an issue where users are trying to access a banking site which needs a particular version of JRE to work, in this case 1.4.2_05. If I login with my account which has administrator rights, I can access the banking site with no issue. On the same pc, if a user without administrator priveldges tries to access this site, it says that java runtime is not installed ????
I've completely deleted the cache and temporary files, uninstalled java and reinstalled with no success. I also changed the registry permissions on "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.4.2_05" and gave "Full control" to the user accounts.
    Using XP sp2 fully patched.
Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated !!!!

It's probably relevant that Sun's Installation Instructions for both the JDK and JRE say: You must have administrative permissions in order to install Java.

  • Java (x86_64) not installing correctly

    Hi,
I searched the forums with no luck. When I try to install j2re, pacman install it apparently ok but OOO doesn't see it neither Firefox but this aside the weird thing is this:
If I do a "pacman -S j2re" again it doesn't warn me that it is already installed but if I go ahead it says "upgrading" and not "installing."
If I do a "pacman -R j2re" it says it's "could not find j2re in database" but IT IS "installed".
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

Java works well as my azureus runs fine
j2re has been renamed to jre. Firefox will never see it as there's no java plugin available for 64bit. thanks sun
OOo is still in an experimental state and was probably built with gij.

  • Java is not working with Firefox (but is working with Safari)

My computer is showing that Java is not enabled via Firefox. When I try to go into Tools/Add-ons, I see that there is no Java plug-in on that list (though I previously had no problem with Java). When I run software update on my Mac, it tells me my software is all up to date. Not sure what else to do. Java is working in Safari, so the problem is clearly with Firefox. I've tried disabling all my plug-ins, and clearing my cache. Nothing has helped.

Apple has removed support for the Java Plugin2 with the latest Java Update 10 for OS X 10.5 Java version, so the Java plugin is no longer available for Firefox versions and other browsers like Google Chrome that require the Java Plugin2.
There will be fix for this in Firefox 6 or in Firefox 5.0.1 if that version will be released, so that Firefox will find the plugin again.
I don't know if all Java applets will still be working on OS X 10.5 with this fix (Apple recommends updating to OS X 10.6).
