Java will not run in Firefox

Mid-2011 Macbook Air - Flash storage - Running Firefox 64
I just downloaded and installed Java.
No luck as I go to Yahoo and when I begin to play Euchre.
It stops me and says I dont have the plugin.
I ran the install and then check to see on any support site what they suggest I do and nothing works.
Any ideas about issues with this.

Hello, I've presented this problem. There are no pop-ups that say my java plugin is not installed or anything like that. My plug-in is marked as always active but the applets doesnt work. I have windows 8.1 and java SE 7 U47. Also I cannot use internet explorer for the same reason.

  • Java will not run in IE9

I find this problem posted all over the internet -- however, I have found few answers and no solutions that work.
Java will not run in IE9
In the last three days I have installed Java 7.5 at least five times (after total uninstalls).
I have Windows 7 Home premium with all updates installed.  Anti-virus programs are installed.
Even the java website   http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp cannot detect the Java program in IE9.  It displays the following message:  “No working Java was detected
on your system.  Install Java by clicking the button below.”
I know you don’t want to hear about other browsers, however, this is part of the diagnoses – Java works fine in Chrome.  (Obviously, there are some programs that can only be accessed in IE.)
I have tried turning off the firewall, anti-virus AVG, active x filtering, and every other program.  I have cleared the browsing history, cookies, etc.  50 times = nothing works.
I experienced that Java did work once and only once in IE9 after each of two new reinstallations of Java 7.5.
Process Explorer shows that Java is running, I’ve included a screen- shot (hope it shows up)
    All knowledgeable answers are appreciated.

    Hi,
Have you tried the compatibility mode in Internet Explorer 9? Or does this issue occur to previous Internet Explorer versions?
    For reference about compatibility mode:

How to use Compatibility View in Internet Explorer 9
You could try to deselect the “Automatically Detect Settings” to check how it works.
And enable the scripting of Java applets settings:
    1. Click "Tools" --> "Internet Options"
    2. Next, select the Security Tab, and select the "Custom Level" button
    3. Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets"
    4. Make sure the "Enable" radio button is checked.
    5. Click OK to save your preference.
Or you could try to change the settings in group editor:
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Internet Control Panel\Security Page\Internet Zone\Java Permissions
    Meanwhile, I suggest you could
reset Internet Explorer settings to see the results.
    Hope this helps.

  • No matter what I do, I cannot get Firefox to run Java correctly. I've deleted the cache, etc., etc., but my school programs will not run on Firefox.

Firefox (v. 18.0.1) will not run my school programs any more since the Java scare. It also is choking at running screencast-o-matic.
And this is happening on both my computers not just one.
I have emptied Java cache, emptied the browser caches, downloaded the latest Java, Reinstalled it. Cleared caches again, etc., etc., etc.
Firefox will not run Java and I have to use IE which is the only browser that I have gotten the scripts to function so that I can use my programs.

Been there done that. Actually I have even install a fresh Firefox on virgin win8 64-bit laptop (without synchronising to my firefox in general) with the absolutely latest Java - didn't help either. And my test page is not the only one, but as I did this myself I know exactly the contents.
Since then my Firefox is in sync... well more or less as it seems it only sync some ways but that is another matter... but at least most of my stuff is back in place.
What I know is that the egg.html takes forever to load, and that the java part never shows. I think that this goes for most Java places, but I do remember that it was not always the case. Right now even the Oracle test page can't find Java, and I know it could at some point. Reinstalling tells me I already got Java, so it is there, likewise it is active in the plugin window. But some parameter some where must have gone haywire.

  • Java is not running in Firefox, but runs in other browsers.

I am trying to run java in my Firefox 3.6.13 browser.
Java works perfectly in Internet Explorer, but I rather use fire fox.
I have java installed, and it appears in my (about:plugins) page as all enabled.
yet when I go to the java website to detect java, I end up watching the swirling bar go on forever and then it reports I have no java installed.
Every page that uses java appears blank, the page loads around the java perfectly, but its just an empty space where anything java is.
I made sure to check the control panel and make sure it is enabled for mozilla family as well as the next gen java is selected. unfortunatley no matter how many times I uninstall java/fire fox, and re install, Java will not work

The ''' "Search" ''' box isn't going to do you any good, you need the '''Run''' box. There isn't a "file" in the Firefox Program Files folder that you can use to launch the Firefox SafeMode. ''Firefox 4.0 has a fix to get around this problem in Vista and Win7, so you won't have to activate the '''Run''' box.''
See if this works in Windows 7: <br />

My new IMac and Macbook Pro are each loaded with Mountain Lion. Have Office for Mac also
When I try to see my Grandson on webcam out of state the login will not activate. For PC use I needed Java and Active X to let it run. My Java is checked as ready to go but nothing happens. Otherwise these are great computers. Please help me through the process. The Geniuses at my apple store can't understand what to do.

By default, OS X does NOT come with Java installed nowadays. You need to open the Java Preferences app found in Utilities; when you do that the first time, it will inform you of the fact and offer to install the product for you.
Afterwards, due to a major security issue we had back in the first quarter of the year, the plugin is disabled by default. You need to revisit the Preferences and enable manually. It will auto-disable if unused in awhile.
Lastly, you may have to adjust which Java instance is being used, the 32-bit or the 64-bit. Default is 64-bit, but some applets crash & burn or outright refuse to run in such a platform. You can prioritize which version you prefer by dragging on top in the Preferences.

  • Java will not run

I have an application that requires Java to run. I've discovered that the application will run on my macbook in Safari, but I can't get it to run in Firefox or Chrome. Unfortunately, Firefox is the most convenient browser to use. I have the latest Java upgrade (I think) and Java is enabled in Firefox yet it won't run. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Bill

  • I work with a web app that will not run on Firefox, so I changed my default browser back to IE but the URL link continues to open in Firefox. How can I get it to default to IE?

After changing my default browser from Firefox back to IE, other URLs are defaulting to IE but I have one URL that continues to default to Firefox. This web app will only run in IE so the only way I can run it is to open IE first and then enter or select the URL. Is there a setting someplace that will change the default browser for this URL to be IE?

You can make IE the default browser, that will reset some registry keys<br />
    Control Panel > Internet Options: Programs<br />
Put a check in the box next to 'Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser'<br />
Start IE and let IE make itself the default browser.
Check the default settings in:<br />
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > "Set Program Access And Defaults" (on the left)<br />
Open: Custom (click arrow on the right)<br />
Select "Internet Explorer" under "Choose a default Web Browser"<br />
    Click OK

    Friends,
Everytime you upgrade firefox 3.6 onwards In win XP you are advised to upgrade Flash player and now for FF 3.6.8 player 10.1.54.. I don't find any justification.I would rather suggest user of Mozilla to clear the unwanted file created on macromedia flash player at C:\Documents and Settings\(**type__yuorfoldername)\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects> then except for s.ytimg.com ,ww.youtube.com you can safely delete the other junk.Thn move on to E:\Documents and Settings\ **type your foldername)\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys perform similar exercise. • Since downloading 3.6.9, BBC iPlayer will not run in Firefox. It's OK on IE and Opera. What's up?

Mozilla advised the download of version 3.6.9 for security and stability reasons.
After installation I tried to stream some BBC content but could not get anything to download.
I have the latest Flash player and all the permissions are set correctly.
The iPlayer is looking different to what it was previously.
    Can you help

I should test it on my wife's old Xp with v3.6 - too late tonight - will check tomorrow. Thanks for your help. Craig.

  • Java 7 release 25 will not work on Firefox 22 -- tried all the "fixes" and it works in IE and Chrome. What now?

The newest release of Java (7.0.250) simply will not run on Firefox 22. I have tried all the "fixes" posted on the Mozilla site -- enabled in both the browser and the Java control panel. The new release of Java works just fine in IE and Chrome.

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

  • Web pages will not run correctly, says need Java- L505d-S6957

I have a new L505D-S6957 running the Windows 7 upgrade 32-bit.  I have tried using Firefox and IE8.  Both browsers seem to not run Java or not run correctly if so.  Though when I check my Java it is latest and installed.  Buttons on web pages and photos do not load or run.  I have tried re-loading the Java, the browsers, and about anything else I can think of. Some web pages load jumbled as if without any margin.
Can anyone help me determine what is going on here?  Some of my favorite web pages do not work and one will not even log me on.  I could not log on to this website to get this help.  It keeps returning back to the login screen after I try to login.  However, I was able to login here on the first try on another computer.  Thanks for any help on this matter.
