Java won't run in safari?

I am trying to play euchre online and it says java is not installed after performing a check. I re-installed java twice, restarted my computer and browser and will still not run. Running latest version of safari and osx. I have made sure java is enabled in preferences and safari preferences.
Game site i am trying to access:

Maybe these will help:

  • Java won't run in Safari, FF, or any other browser

I need to use a lot of Java pages for work. They used to function fine with Safari and Firefox, but now, neither browser can access any page with Java content on it. Firefox gives me a dreaded "red X" with the error message that "Java Applet notloaded" and Safari actually hangs on the page that leads to the page with Java.
    Any suggestions? I'm desperate!

The cache files for Java may need to be cleared.
Go to your Applications/Utilities/Java and select Java 1.4.2 Plugin Settings.app Double click. Select Cache panel. Then "empty cache".
Also, in the same Java folder double click on J2SE 5.0>Java Preferences.app
The panel ought to look like this:
If it doesn't make corrections as needed. Note the position of J2SE 5.0 and Java 1.4.2. If they are reversed, drag one to the correct position.
Restart the system. See if that helps.
Post back and let me know if that brought Java back on line.

  • Java won't run

I think I may have got a virus on my computer.  My java won't run at all.  When I put on the Flashback Checker it said it was clear but I still can't run java or update it.  I'm on an OSX so the new updates won't go either.  I'd really like to run java programs

I went to about this Mac.  Do you know where I can download java?
It came with 10.5.8 and is updated using Software Update.
All you need to do is make certain it's enabled in both Java Preferences (found in /Applications/Utilities/) and in your browser preferences.

  • Java won't run after latest update

I just installed the latest update for Mountain Lion and now my java won't run.  I have tried all of the hints from Java's site and am stumped.
    Any ideas?

This explains why. You need to download the latest Java from Oracle's site.

  • Java applets won't run on Safari???

I have reinstalled Java twice, and it still won't run any Java applets. It just sits there with the cup logo and the arrow on either side. It works fine on Firefox but not Safari. Help?

    Hello
I'm piggy backing on this thread because I too have had problems with Java and Safari
Java runs fine for me in Firefox, however.
I went to a federal website
    https://blrscr3.egs-seg.gc.ca/gol-ged/gov/browserdetection/BrowserCheck.html
that uses java and received this message
" Java applet unable to load
To use this service, you must either install a recent version of the Sun JVM or enable "Scripting of Java applets" if it has been disabled."
so i looked for an update and have downloaded and installed release 6, (at least, it said that it was installed, but have never been able to figure out where)
when I check Java preferences, the choices are J2SE 1.4.2 or J2SE 5, and when I've switched to 1.4.2 I still have no luck.
When i run firefox, i get the java console opening, but it doesn't open with safari, and I can't find the option for this to turn on in safari
i have restarted both safari and my computer and no luck. I have repaired permissions and no changes have taken place.
    Any more suggestions?
    (thank you, by the way)

  • Vids won't run with Safari, but work with FireFox just fine

I can't get vids to run with Safari. Where the vid is supposed to be, on YouTube etc, it's just blank. They run fine with FireFox, though. I don't mind using FireFox, its a great browser. I just don't like the idea of something being wrong with my MacBook.

Make sure your plug-ins are enabled in Safari (preferences) and that you're not using Rosetta mode (Get Info window).

  • Java won't load in Safari 3 beta for 10.4.11

Java is no longer loading in safari 3, I tried to open a Java powered web page but the plugins needed to use the features won't load in the browser.
I keep getting a message that the Java is not available or not installed. When I first installed Java release 6, it worked fine, then suddenly it won't load any more.
Java is working fine in FireFox and Opra.

Here is a copy of the message:
    Java not available
The page “ELV Countdown Portal - Welcome” attempted to load Java content, but Java is unavailable or not installed.
I'm getting the same message from any web site I go to that requires Java to run.
Should I reinstall all Java software on my computer?

  • Java- Won't work with Safari

I have all of the up-to-date Java software (or at least I think) however when I open websites I get a picture of a coffee cup. I tried to delete all of my java software and reinstall but that didn't work well so I just reupdated everything. I recently switch over from my Gateway to a MacBook and I love it but I'm getting VERY frustrated with Java not working correctly. If someone could help me or give me suggestions on how to fix this problem that would be much appreciated!
    Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I see you are running Tiger 10.4.7. You need to update to 10.4.9. Here's how you do that.
Click the Apple logo top left side of your Menu, then click: Software Updates
The Software Updater will take of the rest for you. When it's finished, reboot. If the problem still exists, post back.

  • Proxy internet filter won't run in Safari

Im using proxy internet filter (Hedgebuilders). They have been helpful but only Firefox will recognize the proxy and port and the work properly. Im using Verizon wireless Cell for connections. Only glitch otherwise is that their access
manager panel now requires several clicks to get connected. I've put proper
proxy info into network preferences but Safari ignores the settings, I set Automatic, showed the phone as modem, and entered info......no go . I also took their suggestion and tried putting entries into Internal modem slot but
Safari still bypasses it and ignores it. Firefox works fine with it although Firefox
has a panel much smaller than Safari's. I prefer Safari for somethings and it works better with my E-mail and and has more optons. HELP!!!

My problem is temporarily solved by not using my wireless software. It still must be installed/unistalled on a clean install so that phone drivers are installed. I tried using internet connect, picked a similar cdma phone, and was then able to have safari recognize the proxy. This will work in 99% of circumstances excepting trying to use hotmail or another web based service where data transfer while typing will slow to a speed where the phone will then go dormant or disconnect. The real answer though is if there were another mac user out there also using a wireless phone and a proxy server who would know what additional info I need to enter into preferences.....either an ip or local host that needs to be bypassed or whatever to get it to run and recognize the proxy.
Safari.... Amazing that Firefox takes the info and works first time, but doesnt have the full screen of Safari ( IF it does I can't find a way to set it).

  • Java won't work in Safari (or any other web client on my Mac)?

The title pretty much says it all. Anytime I try to run something online that requires Java, the little cup with the arrows swirling around it appears and nothing happens. I've tried 3 different web browsers (Firefox and Flock) to no avail. Help?

  • Java won't run on my OSX 10.7.5 can anyone help?

I have done EVERYTHING to get the latest version of Java to run. Java is "running" when I check it in system preferences, I have it enabled in my browser but when I return to Java, it doesn't detect it. I have restarted my computer and still nothing. Help???

Run through the steps listed in HT5559: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5559
This is take you back to Java SE 6 that Apple developed and has helped me with many of todays Java issues. It is not going to mess anything up and you can always try to re-install the latest version again if you want to try a newer version, but this should get you going on whatever you are trying to do for now.

  • Iphone gmail links won't run in Safari

*I get an email with a link to a video or live feed ...click the link but unable to run the video or audio in safari...anyone know why and/or how do set it up?*
    Thanks

I'm no expert in this, to say the least. But there are certain plug-ins (like Flash) not available in the iPhone. Anything requiring one of those plug-ins may not be viewable using Safari in the iPhone.
That could be the problem you're running into.

  • Java Won't run on AOL browser

AOL has told me that they pull from the internet explorer, however I am unable to run the Java Runtime on AOL, therefore I have to use the internent explorer, which I do not like. I am unable to play games on AOL, it's not letting the Applets load. Does anyone know what is going on. I have reinstalled AOL, made sure my security settings are correct. An AOL does not have an answer either.

    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/download.html
After you download the jre file click on it to install it. I'm not sure why AOL isn't registering and the internet explorer is.
Try putting this into your autoexec.bat file (if your running on windows operating system).
    set classpath=C:\ProgramFiles\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1\bin;%PATH%
Make sure the file path is correct. It's the path to the java.exe file. This ensures programs that use java.exe file to find it.
You have to restart your computer after changing the autoexec file for it to register.
    Good Luck!

  • Java won't work on safari

I believe it is java thats not working. I use a website called mathzone.com and when i go on there to do my work safari wont pull up the interface for me to see the questions or to put in the ansers. If I use another browser like firefox it works fine... I just prefer safari. does anyone know how to help me.

Then click:  Check your browser for plugins
The site requires Shockwave, Flash, QuickTime, and Real Player.
And make sure Java is enabled in Safari > Preferences > Security.
Much better off using Firefox for this particular site. Safari has incompatibility issues with RealPlayer.
