Java- Won't work with Safari

I have all of the up-to-date Java software (or at least I think) however when I open websites I get a picture of a coffee cup. I tried to delete all of my java software and reinstall but that didn't work well so I just reupdated everything. I recently switch over from my Gateway to a MacBook and I love it but I'm getting VERY frustrated with Java not working correctly. If someone could help me or give me suggestions on how to fix this problem that would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I see you are running Tiger 10.4.7. You need to update to 10.4.9. Here's how you do that.
Click the Apple logo top left side of your Menu, then click: Software Updates
The Software Updater will take of the rest for you. When it's finished, reboot. If the problem still exists, post back.

    I vote Flash Player.
First uninstall Flash Player according to the instructions here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html
Read and follow all the instructions with care.
If you must have Flash Player, install it from this site:

  • Java won't work on safari

I believe it is java thats not working. I use a website called mathzone.com and when i go on there to do my work safari wont pull up the interface for me to see the questions or to put in the ansers. If I use another browser like firefox it works fine... I just prefer safari. does anyone know how to help me.

Then click:  Check your browser for plugins
The site requires Shockwave, Flash, QuickTime, and Real Player.
And make sure Java is enabled in Safari > Preferences > Security.
Much better off using Firefox for this particular site. Safari has incompatibility issues with RealPlayer.

  • FLASH 9 won't work with Safari 2.0.4

Installed, uninstalled, reinstalled flash 9. Works with Foxfire, but not with Safari 2.0.4. Tried to install flash 8 instead and it gave me the "update flash" page. Very frustrated. Please help. There is no preference file with "safari" in the name.

    threejay10,
thanks for pointing me to the other discussion thread on
    http://www.justin-cook.com/wp/2007/03/08/flash-9-doesnt-work-on-mac-os-x/
i am not that comfortable in Terminal so I opted for the one other option i could see that doesn't reliance on me typing a slew of sensitive characters into Terminal.
So, instead, I downloaded Pseudo from VersionTracker
    http://versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/9608
installed it in my applications folder. then dragged the Flash 9 installer onto Pseudo. Flash then installed perfectly and all is working well.
It seems there is a simple fix after all. Apparently Pseudo installs into the root and therefore, I assume, bypasses the permissions issues. After 2 days of trying to solve this, I"m happy it's over. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. I hope others can find this thread and the solution.
    Cheers, TM

  • Java won't work in Safari (or any other web client on my Mac)?

The title pretty much says it all. Anytime I try to run something online that requires Java, the little cup with the arrows swirling around it appears and nothing happens. I've tried 3 different web browsers (Firefox and Flock) to no avail. Help?

    Hi
Which version of Leopard are you using? Your tag says 10.5.1. If not sure, go to the Apple Menu>About this Mac

  • Safari stops working.  Mail won't work with Safari running.  Now iTunes can't find my phone.  If I restart and do one thing at a time it helps but still not reliable.  All software on my iMac is up to date.

I have a new iMac and iPhone 4.0.  All software is up to date and I have installed the free beta version of Mountain Lion which let me use iChat on my computer.  Safari intermittently stops working.  Mail won't access my mailboxes if Safari is running.  Now iTunes won't find my iPhone when it's locked and in a dock charging.  If I restart I can do 1 thing at a time, but I can't have Safari running and use Mail.  I've emptied my cache, checked my passwords.  It's none of that.  By process of elimination, there is some kind of conflict between using multiple applications on the Internet at the same time.  Sometimes after I've gone to several Internet sites Safari will stop working properly even though all other applications have been "quit".

Oops. You installed the beta Mountain Lion on your main hard disk? Usually most people install it on a secondary or external hard drive. Your situation should actually be posted on the Developer web site for Moutnain Lion and not here. All I can suggest here is to run repair permissions and restart. Sorry.

  • How come Facebook randomly won't work with Safari?

Whenever I try to access Facebook on Safari, it says "Safari cannot establish a secure connection to the server". I've tried looking at my firewall, parental controls, deleted cookies. I've reset safari and my router. I downloaded google chrome, and Facebook works on there. It also works on the other computers in my house (using Safari).

Nope Neither of those or any other Anti Virus Software

  • Can I run Java on Windows 7 with Safari?

I am using Safari on Windows 7 (via Parallels) to log into a website that uses a Java Runtime app in it's login process. However, I cannot get the Java extention to work with Safari for Windows. Is Java blocked by Apple? Do I have to use another browser to log into this website?

    Hi Timothy Hoestermann,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Java 7 won't work with Firefox 16.0.1 on OS X 10.7.5.

Java 7 works with Safari, but Firefox won't recognise Java is there at all. I've tried reinstalling Java 7 but no success.

I reported this issue as a bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=813803

  • Java won't work on Firefox, while it works on Safari on a Mac.

I have a MacBook Pro and downloaded Firefox 3.6 for it. Now I've realized that Java plugins won't work in Firefox for some reason, while they do work in Safari that came with the Mac. The problem wouldn't be with Java, since it works on Safari.
The Java-related plug-ins I have installed in Firefox are the Java Embedding Plug-in 0.9.7.3 and Java Plug-in 2 for NPAPI browsers.
When I go to a page that contains a Java applet, there is no error, the page says it's done loading, and there's a blank spot where an applet is supposed to be.

Actually, I have both plugins installed in Mac OS X 10.6, verified by entering '''about:plugins''' in the SeaMonkey 2 Location Bar (address bar)
    Java Embedding Plugin 0.9.7.3
    <br>File name: MRJPlugin.plugin
Java Plug-In 2 for NPAPI Browsers
    <br>File name: JavaPlugin2_NPAPI.plugin
This is a new iMac computer I just set up last week running OS X 10.6.4 with all current Apple Software Updates. I have SeaMonkey 2 installed on it, but not Firefox.
I have Java 6 Update 20 ( 1.6.0_20 ) installed, verified by going to the test link in the KB article I posted above,
    http://javatester.org/version.html
Java 1.6.0_20 (referred to as "Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 2" on the page cor-el linked) should be available from Apple's [http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338 Software Update] feature.
Another test link you can try (from about:plugins):
    http://browserspy.dk/java.php
I think that the Java Embedding plugin is something that Mozilla includes with all its current browsers (Firefox, SeaMonkey, Camino) based on: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/OSX.html#Java
    ...which links to http://javaplugin.sourceforge.net/

  • Safari won't work with CNN Pipeline and other sites all of a sudden?

Safari won't work with CNN Pipeline and other sites all of a sudden? A few weeks ago Safari was working OK but now I often have to use Firefox to visit certain webpages.
Anyone else having this same problem?
    Is there a quick fix?
    I'm using Safari 2.0.4
    Thanks.

    Hi QuickTimeKirk,
I have WMP version 9, as well. I do not use F4M, for many users f4mac is what helps.
I find some items work while others do not. I always get an alert about the wmp , which version it is, takes very long to load, I find it is not consistant with Safari, as seems the poster of this topic has found.

though 41 errors is not as poor as some, Firefox handles the site better than Safari, imo.
Some sites just work better with Firefox or an other browser.

  • Latest version of Safari won't work with my version of OS.

I downloaded the latest version of Safari but it won't work with my version of OS (10.6.8). ***! It's pretty frustrating that my computer allowed me to download it without noticing it's not compatible--seems like a simple enough concept to check for that BEFORE effing someone up entirely.
How do i revert back to the old version of Safari? I was using Chrome but it's become impossibly slow.
    Thanks!

When you click on the proxy icon for an asset, does the "Search All Jobs" view show a "downloading" message indicating that the proxy is being transferred to your local machine?
Also, what specific software versions (Quicktime and FCS) are you working with?
