Java wont run at all on safari.

Hello there,
I have an issue, on my home computer java runs seamlessly in safari for windows, but here at my office, it just wont run, i downloaded the Sun JRE and installed with Admin priveleges, althought Safari 4 Win includes Apple JRE anyways, it is enabled in my preferences, but whenever i try to use the file manager in Webmin, or any other java applet on the web it just says "Java is Unavailable (SITE) tried to load java content but java is not installed or unavailable, would you like go to a page where you can download java?" and I did it again thinking maybe it required an earlier version, but still nothing. any help anyone can offer me i would be greatly appreciated

I wasn't sure if this thread had already been closed or not, but if its still open, I'd like to chime in with some comments of my own, as well.
I too have been experiencing very similar issues with my edition of Safari for Windows. I am running Windows Vista Basic, and my version of Safari is 4.0.4.
I followed the instructions you gave to the person who started this thread, and after restarting Safari, I am still receiving the same error I was receiving before. Here is what the error says:

Well, I know for a fact that I have Java installed on this machine, and it has been enabled for use with Safari.
Here is the version of Java which I have presently installed on my machine. Aside from v. 17, I also have versions 1-7, which all show enabled as well.

The database initialized correctly and I was able to setup and connect to the database. I even ran a port scanner and checked memmory...the thing was running! Then after the reboot the database wont run at all. When I type ./oracle it trys to load and then shows "Segmentation fault (core dumped)". When I try ./oracle start nothing is echoed. I tried to copy the lib files

to the $ORACLE_HOME/lib/ dir and followed John Smiley's howto but the relink script doesn't work! Even still I think something else is wrong other than the library. Can someone help?

JDeveloper Beta on SUS 7.2 wont run at all.

Hi,
jdevd was an old script that starts up JDev on UNIX in debugging mode. It shouldn't have been in the beta and has subsequently been removed.
The correct script to start the tool is jdev.

PDF wont run on mac w/safari after update

I had no problem with PDFs until today. I just updated Adobe Reader to 11.0.03 a couple of days ago, and followed directions to update a couple of other adobe apps (acrobat?) that same day. Pls note, I also have an Adobe reader 9 that I updated to 9.5.5 that same day after getting the prompt.
I am trying to link to a PDF that I have bookmarked.
The error message I am getting in a popup is 'There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, jplease exit and then try again (9:9)" when I try it again, the bookmark is blank, no popup reoccurs.
Would those two be competing and causing the problem? I originally had Tiger 10.4 OSX but upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 last year. Is the Adobe9 leftover from that?
I have read on one of the forums that it is better to make a correction without ejecting Adobe Reader, as there are many files that exist in several places and cause repeated problems.
For some reason, my husband has been unable to view PDFs for a couple of months on his account prior to this update. My son did not have any problems before this update but now having same problem I am. When I "Get info" for both A. R. versions, I checked to make sure we all have Read and Write Permissions.
I'll be thankful for help with my problem first, then will come back to dig deeper for his problem, but wonder if they are connected.

Reading more on your suggestion, I found this on a blog--http://thesteeves.org/dan/. He had an Adobe problem as well and wrote: Adobe Reader is nice enough to ask if you want it to be your default application for .pdf files. However, it does by default install itself as your new best friend in Safari.
Where I was used to clicking a PDF link in Safari and getting a window with minimal embedded Preview.app controls, I now got all of Adobe's madness, with non-standard download and print controls.There was no place in Safari or Adobe Reader preferences to turn this off. To make it go away I used the following: $ sudo rm /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/Adobe*
This removed the files AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin, which seems to have me back to normal.
Maybe I'll get brave and do it. Thanks to all who have responded-due to my work schedule, I'll have to wait for several days before I have time to implement. Kris

I have downloaded the updates for Java and made sure the preferences are correct. Java isnt much help at all! It runs Java programs but not dailyfx.com graphs?! It just shows the Java logo. Is there something I need to download or correct?

Powerbook wont run at all (190cs)

I have recently ran into a problem where my powerbook 190cs wont start up at all off of a battery or the power adapter. I have tried the reset button on the back, no drive in the bay, just about everything. When i start it up all i get is a faint pphhhh noise from the speaker that normally indicates a dead battery, but the power adapter is also plugged in. It seems as if the plug doesnt work at all anymore. I have read where some powerbook 5300's which are the more powerful sibling to the 190 series laptops, that some of them end up losing the ability to charge due to a loose soldering point where the plug meets the motherboard/logic board. Can some please help clarify if this may be it or if i have to try something else.

You may also be correct regarding a failed solder joint at the power port. This is a quote from an Apple moderator some time ago.

Java wont run when opening applications

I have had this Macbook pro for about two years now. I am running 10.7.5 and am using java Version 7 Update 10. However, whenever I try opening apps such as oovoo, this pop up apears. I AM CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET BY THE WAY!!!!!!!!
It is not a wifi problem, as I have tired at my granparents house, cousins, friends. I have tried it everywhere and it is not a problem. I have tried entering the codes below but the same pop up apears.

Which version of Java do you see on Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins?
Is this the latest 7U51 version?
Note that you can get a possibly colored Lego icon on the left end of the location bar that indicates that Firefox is blocking a plugin.

Cannot get java window to run at all.

I'm using 1.4.2, and cannot get any java to run at all. It's on a Windows 2000 server, and I've rebooted it a few times. Can't even get the Java Applet window to open from the control panel. javaw.exe runs in the task manager, but that's it. Any ideas? Anything else I need?

That's the Java Control Panel you can't open.
Try uninstalling ALL Java versions, rebooting after each uninstall, and manually removing any directories that Java made after all are removed. Reboot again, then download a new offline Java installer file and install that. There's something in the machine that's bad.

Photoshop cs 4 wont run after installation on mac book pro

I recently brought the adobe design premium package with flash, illustrator, indesign, photoshop etc...
after installation all other application works but just photoshop, it just wont start at all...
it will pop up on the deck for a second or two and just disappear. the progra wont run at all. other applications like illustrator, indesign etc... all work just fine but just not photoshop... i dont get it what's wrong. no error or anything. just pop up and then disappear.

So have you done the basics?
Toss the PS folder and run the installer again?
Run the updater from an app you can open? (this will update all)
etc...

I'm not a Webpage designer/coder, so there's a limit to the advice I can give you here. But I can see the effect you're describing on my Safari 4.0.4 for Windows.
I tried using the Web Inspector and the Error Console (in the Develop menu in Safari 4.0.4) to have a look at your page. Both of them are reporting the following error about your javascript:
*ReferenceError: Can't find variable: obj*
Since both Safari and Chrome are WebKit-based:
