JavaFX and Web Development

I am new to JavaFX,I am in search of a new web development tool in java which can increase the GUI appearance like Flex.I want to know whether JavaFX can be integrated in the web development using JSP.More over my aim is of developing an Enterprise Monitoring Software.Actually the web interface is used to display the details send by the monitoring agent from different client machines.So i need diffrent types of components like Tree control,Listcontrol,Movie control etc to be integrated in the interface.These components should display the data coming from either the network or from database.So I like to know whether JavaFX can be applicable to my project.

Why Netweaver vs. custom SAP and Web development

I have been reviewing Netweaver as well as SAP's Manufacturing Execution (ME) to determine whether we want to implement this functionality. I understand that Netweaver provides a standard platform for a company's custom development but my question is Why invest time and money in Netweaver when I can develop custom Z-code and Web code without it? What is the benefit to Netweaver?

yes, of course you can develop you own zcode and web/java code without using SAP netweaver platform or nwds(sap netweaver developer studio).
But with SAP netweaver, you can make full use of the available functionalities, and the development will be faster.
more important, you can achieve a seamless integration of different product line, such SAP ERP and SAP ME.

New to J2EE and web development in java

Hi folks,
I have been developing desktop app in C# for the past two years. But now I am taking my masters and I am learning in Java. I am also interested in J2EE and wanted to develop web apps in Java. The problem is, I am very much confused with the tools, classes and etc Java uses. For example people say to me, you have to know Struts, Spring, JSP, Ant, Tomcat, Apache Tomcat, Hibernate, and etc. I tried to search every one of those and got some clue but not that much detail and now I am really confused.
Before I go to coding (which is my interest), I wanted to know what tools to know and why and how they are used, at least the basics. Once I get some idea, I will keep on searching by myself. Can any body please tell me or give me a link of what tools I have to start with as a begineer web developer? Can any body give me a brief description about them?I downloaded Eclipse and I am almost familier on how to use it and I also write some code on it. These days, I downloaded J2EE, Struts, and Hibernate but I dont know how to use them and where to use them. No clue. Help me guys.

Step 1 : Download "Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers". You don't need anything else in terms of tools at the start.
Step 2 : Get solid experience in basic Java development. Make sure you are very comfortable with the language and core API classes such as I/O, collections, etc. Do this in a basic Java project in Eclipse.
Step 3 : Learn JSP and Servlets. These two technologies are the foundation of Java EE web app development. Use "Dynamic Web Project" in Eclipse and Tomcat as your server. For a good exercise, build a web app to manage a catalog of something by reading/writing to a text file local to the server.
Step 4 : Learn JPA. This is the standard for modern Java database access. Make sure you learn JPA standard rather than a specific implementation like Hibernate. In fact, since you are asking on an Oracle site, I would recommend EclipseLink implementation of JPA rather than Hibernate. For an exercise take your app from Step 3 and make it use a database instead of a file. Use MySQL as your database.
By the time you get this far you will have a good foundational knowledge of Java EE web development. Where you go from here will depend on your interests. If you are more interested in the web tier, you can learn some of the higher-level front-end technologies such as JSF or Struts that make it easier to build very large apps. If your interests are more in middle tier and scalability, start learning EJBs. Don't bother learning Ant or Maven unless your interests are specifically in build systems and release engineering. You don't need to know Ant/Maven to build/run/export Java EE applications in Eclipse.

I downloaded web developer server, such as an Eclipse IDE with all, Spring, Struts, Hibernate... but I think this is not for Oracle Forms, isn'it? I'm very newbie, but I would like to install all the things I need.

Why are web developer tools not available on Firefox for Android?

I do some freelance web design. I just replaced my laptop with a tablet last year (Samsung Galaxy 10.5 S). I want to do web development on it - I work from a terminal doing Ruby on Rails and web development all the time. It would be awesome to have the F12 developer tools handy in Firefox for Android, but sadly I've waited for a while and there is no indication they will ever appear.
Do NOT suggest using a remote debugger - I'm not testing the layout of pages on my tablet, I want to be able to profile, view source (without an add-on) and such. I have seen this exact question marked closed by suggesting remote debugging, and I fail to see how telling me to use my tablet next to a laptop or desktop is a solution. Telling me to carry a second device means I don't need the tablet at all, when my intention is to ONLY use the tablet.
My tablet has a huge screen resolution and a powerful processor - more powerful than some laptops? Why is Firefox for Android neutered? I would understand disabling it by default to help those with less powerful devices, but why remove something that would add a competitive edge to your product, and is already integrated in desktop Firefox and has been for years? I prefer Firefox, but if Chrome adds web developer tools for Android first, I'll switch to Chrome.
There are people today using a tablet as their sole computing device. Please do not relegate us to a second-class Firefox experience!

MacBook Pro for Web Develop/Photographer

I'm a student and I am travel photographer and web developer.I'm looking at buying a 13" Macbook Pro w/o Retina, however, I'm having trouble figuring out what configuration I need. Unfortunately, I know more about the web than I do about the inner workings of a computer. So I would love some suggestions on what to get for the processor and RAM storage.
The MacBook is going to act as my travel work laptop and it will go with me everywhere, cross country and overseas. It will be a place to offload my photos to Lightroom and do basic checking and editing. Video editing is going to occur very often. I'm also going to be using it as one of the main place for coding and designing websites
I would be running the following programs on it:
Adobe Lightroom
Adobe Fireworks(Or a similar program)
Adobe Photoshop (Or a similar program)
Adobe Premiere Pro (Or a similar program)
MAMP
Itunes
Multiple Browser
Text Editor
It would also be nice to have the option to add space if I would need to.
So what is the best set up for what I need? Should I get an I5 or I7 processor? What amount of memory should I get? What type of hard drive would be the best?
And is there anything else you suggest for me to get?
Also, would refurbished be a good option?
And don't just say get this. Please give me a reason as to why.

I'd be curious to know what "issues" you think there are with the Retina MBPs. But at any rate, if you want the non-retina model I'd suggest you upgrade it to 8GB of RAM (more RAM is always better) and at least the 256 GB SSD. I also agree with Andy on using external HDDs for additional storage.
I am in a similar situation as you. I will be buying a new MBP later this year to replace my early-2011 15" MBP. I'm going to with the top model of 13" MBPr and will have additional external HDDs for backup and file storage. I don't do web development but I am an amateur photographer.
I can't stress this enough: do not forget the external HDDs for backups. Having current Time Machine backups will be critical in case of an emergency. Having an SSD in the MBP will dramatically reduce the possiblity of losing data but having backups is still important.

New to web development.

I'm an avid graphic designer and I have a strong knowledge of Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. I am now wanting to jump into web design, but I'm not sure where to start. What do I need to know about Dreamweaver and web development? What are some good resources? And is there anything I may have missed?

Forget everything you learned in print design. Designing pages for the web is an entirely different discipline.
Before you even open Dreamweaver, learn coding fundamentals first. This is required learning. Without a good grasp of the fundaments, DW will be a very steep learning curve.

I downloaded the web developer tool bar and after using it my images are gone. I use google and a home page and the big google is gone. I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it but I still don't have any images. How can I get them back?

Two days ago I downloaded the web developer tool bar (aus2.mozilla.com). I tried to use it but gave up. I deleted the tool bar.
I don't have any images anymore. I use Google.com as my home page (default) and the large GOOGLE isn't there anymore. I've also noticed some of the sites I use don't have the continue or next or enter keys anymore. It seems the only thing I have now is the text.

Are you sure you are looking at the Google page?? In Firefox 4.0 the default homepage / Start Page in Firefox was changed to '''about:home''' which looks a lot like the former www.google.com/firefox homepage.

Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and Oracle ODAC - Oracle data provider

I can't seem to get the ODAC to work correctly with the Web Developer Express. When putting in a gridview I only see the standard adapters. The one from Oracle does not appear. I have spent days trying to figure out why but no luck. No one else seems to have this problem. I do not see any errors when I installed the ODAC. I've followed a few tutorials.

I tried using the Windows adapters but they just don't seem to work. I can get results in the query builder but when I go to the next step in the wizard I get the constraints error. I've done all the research on that with no luck so I wanted to use the ODAC. This killing me! This really shouldn't be that hard. I've added the dll to the references but again it's just not an option. If anyone could give me a little direction that would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Friends,
Installing SP1 and updates to it solved the first issue. So the database now seems to be of type 2008 R2.
Deleting some files solved the second issue.
However, another issue remains.
My most important projects were created with a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded from Microsoft and installed on July 3, 2012. This version of VWDX has now been lost, because my hard drive recently ceased to function and had to be replaced.
On the new hard drive I have a version of VWDX 2010 that was downloaded yesterday (May 28, 2014). As indicated above, I also installed SP1 and related updates.
When I load a project that was created in the version of VWDX 2010 that was installed almost two years ago and try to open the database connection, I get, in essence, the following error message:
"The database C:\Users\...\Database.mdf cannot be opened, because it is version 661. This server supports version 655 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported."
So it seems that the original database version was 661, whereas the version downloaded yesterday is 655. It seems very strange that a version downloaded now should be earlier than a version downloaded two years ago. Does anyone have an explanation or a solution?

I believe the people who said JSE is only for desktop development are not correct, as well as their saying their are 2 kinds of developer (web service and component).
As I understand it, web service developers provide a way to expose the data and functionality of a program written in a particular language (such as Java or C#) as XML documents to anyone subscribing to the service over the internet. The remote applications subscribing to the service therefore can be written in any other language. For example, imagine a Cobol program trying to get data from a program written in Java. Since both cobol and Java should have ways to parse XML documents, they don't have to know each other's syntax. There are many programs written in many many languages in the web and XML is a standard way for them to communicate. Web Services are an advanced topic and you shouldn't worry about it until you master web applications and/or desktop applications.
As I understand it, a web component developer creates java widgets that produce some visual image with basic functionality associated with it. For example, an html button. These widgets are used by other developers for the presentation layer when creating a web application or desktop application. I'm not sure about this definition since I never messed with web component development. I suggest you keep way from this specialized area on concentrate on web applications and/or desktop applications.
You can consider application development as devided into two general categories. Web development and Desktop development (there are others). Web development is further broken down into browser based applications and mobile device applications. I suspect their are more jobs in web development than desktop development. I therefore suggest you concentrate on browder based web development (just my opinion). Add-ons which are installed and enabled are not visible - no Firebug icon, no Web Developer toolbar.

I was busy working with Firebug last night. This morning the icon wasn't present and I couldn't find it anywhere. In Add-on manager I disabled/reloaded then enabled/reloaded, but still nothing. Web developer toolbar was also missing and not in the toolbar menu. Checking versions, I saw I had Firebug 1.8.1, and one of the compatibility lists suggested that went with Firefox 6 (I was on 5.0.1).
I installed Firefox 6 beta, reinstalled Firebug 1.8.1, but no change. I uninstalled, reinstalled 5.0.1 and this time Firebug 1.8.0, and again nothing.
I must be missing something, but my poductivity has suffered so much that I'd be happy to discover exactly what sort of idiot I am.

I know where to find it. It was the absence of that icon I was complaining about. After a day and a half of doing very little, I suddenly saw that the Web Developer toolbar had reappeared (for no apparent reason). That gave me access to options which had previously been invisible, and I have succeeded in switching Firebug on again. I only wish I could tell all the other people suffering from this problem how to solve it, but the solution was quite spontaneous.
