  • IMac very slow, no Dock, Desktop Background cycling every 1 to 5 sec

    So i have always had the issue of the main display not coming back on from sleep.... I have given up on trying to fix it so i just deal with it. But i really needed my mac and so forced it to shut down because it seemed to be acting strange and i could not see the main screen just my external monitor.
    Anyway when it restarted i now have a very slow machine.... creazy slow. Every click is a delay. My background which normally cycles through the standard images every 30 min does so every 1 to 5 seconds. And i have no Dock.
    My machine is an intel iMac.. 27" late 2009, 8 gigs of ram 1 tera of HD. 60 gb free. 2.8 ghz i7
    Oh and OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
    I have tried resetting pram and plists for the main things including the Dock. I repaired permissions and did a disk repair.
    I am kind of stuck.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    I tried changing the Dock settings but they dont make any difference. I also tried changing the desktop background settings and they dont do anything either and they do not save their settings when i reboot etc...
    Thanks

  • Help with very slow old palm desktop 1.0 for MAC

    No device
    Hi- I am a happy user of Palm m515, and hot synch it to a very old Mac that runs palmpilot desktop 1.0 , cause I like the printouts. Recently, it would start to  open the desktop, but it wouldn't open, I think due to out of memory. I purged calendar and todo from my handheld (which I had not done for years), and hot synced it. Address book & memos synced normally, and the syncing of todo's took hours, and I'm not sure it was successful. However, afterwords, I was able to re-open the desktop, and it works, but it is painfully slow, basically not functional.
    I realize this is legacy stuff, but if there is anyone out there who has suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.
    And, I have an old iMac G5 that I am about to retire and buy a new iMac, and if anyone has suggestions for replacing the handheld with one that will run a good todo/task program (and recommendation for that one), also much appreciated.
    And if there is a way for me to transfer the data from handheld m515 to my new iMac?
    Thanks

    I had an identical experience when I first got my handheld - the palm software wouldn't install on my iMac properly - the same error came up every time, and while it had successfully installed the desktop, hotsync manager was sadly missing. I spent hours playing with it to no avail, and the only solution I found was using it on my macbook running 10.5x (as opposed to 10.2.8). However, the date on the installer (2002) reflects the last time it was updated, which means that it should run with no difficulty on any machine since then. The .sit compression has nothing to do with it - it is one of the most common compression formats for the macintosh platform. It might help if you posted the exact error message you got, but a fairly common fix is to repair disk permissions for your hard drive in disk utility.
    Hope this helps

  • Slow Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection client

    Hi Everyone,
    I was wondering whether one of you, know of a better client of the Microsoft 'Desktop Remote Connection' client for Mac OS X.
    It's because I have an Intel iMac, and remotes my company laptop, but the DRC application are a bit slow in screenupdates and key strokes compared to the Windows client. I am guessing that it as to do with the Rostatta layer, which slows the application.
    Any suggestion?

    It is like that on my first gen G5 iMac as well. It is just part of how the program operates and has nothing to do with Rosetta.
    It also works slow like that - but less so - when I try to use RDC to control a PC I have set up as a file server from my other PC.

  • Muse is acting very slow/trouble with Desktop/Tablet/iPhone

    Hey everyone,
    I saw a post on this in 2012, but I didn't really see any answer to it. My Muse site is acting really slow when I opening different pages. Once the page is open, it works relatively fast. But trying to open different pages and especially when flipping through the Desktop/Tablet/iPhone sections of my site, it takes upwards to 10 seconds to complete one command. I absolutely love Muse, but this is annoying, albeit only slightly. It seems to have become worse now that there are three different sites, and a decent amount of pages.
    I was really hoping that there might be an archive button that would let me hide pages from site, but still keep them active. Many of the pages, after a week or two, do not need to be modified, but it is important that they remain active on our website. Is there a work around were I could accomplish this but keep my muse program running quickly?
    I also have one more issue. When creating a page on my Desktop, I usually want to create a similar page for my tablet and iPhones site as well. When I first created the Tablet/iPhone sites, the outline of the desktop was transfered to both of them. This saved me a lot of time recreating the pages, and making sure the names were the same. But now, when I add a page, I have to create the page on the tablet and the iPhone. Its not a huge deal, but it takes 10 seconds to switch to the tablet page, and then 10 seconds to create a new pages, and then 10 seconds to rename... it simply adds up. Am I missing something to do this a little more efficenetly?

    It sounds like your image file sizes are large? Do you resize your images and optimize them before you add them in Muse?
    Maybe provide a link so we can test.

  • Login page Apex 3.1.1 very slow with remote access

    I've recently installed Oracle Database 11.1.0.6.0. and upgraded Apex 3.0 to Apex 3.1.1
    I've also configured the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway on port 7779.
    When I browse locally to http://<host-name>:7779/apex everything goes fine, but when I browse to the same URL (with host-name OR IP adress) it takes up to 5min to load the login page. Once I can login, browsing through Apex is as fast as locally.
    Is this a new security feature of Oracle 11G ?
    Please advice

    The issue was already solved and you are right. It was an DNS issue. We are using a proxy server and with the proxy server enabled the login page of APEX takes a while to load. When disabling the Proxy Server, it goes like hell.
    I was not familiar with the phenomenon, but finally I found. thanks a lot...
    Kindly regards

  • Remote Desktop - Cmd+D - save without closing question

    I'm trying to write a script that will allow me to quit an application (SketchBookExpress) without saving changes.  I'm having trouble with the syntax for the "Don't Save" (cmd+d).  The script runs but stops at the on screen Save/Canel/Don't Save dialog box.
    What I have tried is the following:
    osascript -e 'tell application "SketchBookExpress" to activate';
    osascript -e 'tell application "SketchBookExpress" to quit';
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to delay 0.5';
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to keystroke "d" using {command down}';
    And I've tried:
    osascript -e 'tell application "SketchBookExpress" to quit';
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to delay 0.5';
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to key down command';
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to keystroke "d"';
    And, I've also tried:
    osascript -e 'tell application "SketchBookExpress" to quit';
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to delay 0.5';
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to to keystroke "d" using {command}';
    I'm very new to Remote Desktop and AppleScript and would appreciate any help you can provide about how to close an app without saving it.
    Thanks.

    I think you need to turn this on its head.
    SketchBook Express is not scriptable, so you can't use the 'normal' method, which would be:
    tell application "SketchBook Express" to quit saving no
    The problem with your approach is that AppleScript is serial - each command is executed in turn, so it's waiting for the app to quit before executing the next command (unless you run all these commands in parallel, but that's a different issue.
    However, there's a simpler solution to your problem:
    killall SketchBookExpress
    This sends the Kill command to the app, quitting it, bypassing the whole 'Save changes?' process.
    This is a standard shell command, so you don't need AppleScript (or osascript) to run it. If you do want to wrap this in a larger script, just use 'do shell script':
    do shell script "killall SketchBookExpress"

  • How do i remote desktop to my mac which has internet shared to it?

    Hello,
    I am very new to remote desktop.
    I am trying to connect to my iMac at my office, using my macbook pro at home. However the iMac has internet shared to it from another iMac.
    The imac locally  has an ip address starting with 10.x.x.x . I am able to connect to it using my macbook pro in my office, but i am unable to do so at home.
    The other complication is the imac and the imac i am sharing internet from seem to have the same IP (a 192.36.x.x.x one).
    Any suggestion on how to over come this ?

    Messages (which is used to access iMessage) comes with Mountain Lion and above. It is not available for Snow Leopard.

  • Remote Desktop To Windows Server Very Slow

    I have OS X 10.6 running on a MBP and a problem that seems to be growing worse over time. I am using Remote Desktop (both CoRD and Microsoft Remote Desktop) to gain access to remote servers. One is a Windows Server 2008, the others are Windows Server 2003. Initially all was fine, but over the last 2 months access to the W2K server has crawled to a halt. Now, when accessing the other servers I'm having the same issue. I have tried different clients for remote access, used different high speed Internet connections (FIOS, a private network) and the result is the same. Very, very slow connections.
    I have also tried using a different login on the laptop to no avail.
    I booted Windows on my MBP using Parralels Desktop and tried using Windows RDC to the same servers; that works fine. In fact, I can access the servers very quickly using my iPhone's Remote Access software using the same Internet connection (home WiFi) as my MacBook Pro.
    So I can only assume it's an issue with OS X 10.6, since different devices using the same Internet connection can make a much faster connection. But I can't find any similar posts on the issue.
    Any ideas are appreciated!

    From the error message, it seems that take time to load the user configuration properly from the server and then the network connection was slow. Please refer to following article

  • Remote Desktop on Yosemite is very very slow

    Hello,
    Using Remote desktop from the App store (8.0.12) is very slow on Yosemite, it constantly uses over 300% CPU. This product is unusable in this state.
    I am on the local network, connecting to an IP address of a Windows 7 Desktop.

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Does this issue occurs on your single device?
    Please try to test with other device and check. If might not working well with your device then need to verify your device setting.

  • Remote Desktop to netbook very slow and laggy

    Remote Desktop to netbook over local ethernet is very slow and laggy. Netbook is Atom N280 with 2GB RAM and GPU with WDDM 1.0 driver. On Windows 7 all works fine even with an Aero Glass enabled for remote session. Now DWM consumes 10 to 25% permanently
    so I think it's a DWM problem. Network traffic is only up to 6Mb/s over 100Mbit LAN connection. Is there a way to connect to Windows 8 netbook useful way?

    Hi, sorry for my late reply but I didn't get notification about your post. I tried these settings and it is laggy same way. I read on Internet desktop composition in Windows 8 is always enabled regardless of RDP client settings. Display adapter is Mobile
    Intel 946 Express Chipset Family. I tried to install Standard VGA driver, but it is also very slow. I'll try clean install to VHD now to avoid any 3rd party software impact.
    Edit: I tried and it's slow even after a clean install.
    Edit2: It is an Intel 945 Express Chipset Family.

  • Apple Remote Desktop Client slow in mini

    I'm using Apple Remote Desktop from my PowerBook. I can control an iMac G5 without any problems, but controlling my new intel Mini is very very slow... i can only work more or less if i put the screen without colors!
    Is this normal? I can't understand why i can work remotely with the iMac very well, and so bad with the mini.
    Mini Dual Core   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    pergaps it's from the wirless connection on the new mini.. I heard they are wired... I guess it's not a remote problem, but a network one, since you have them connected..

  • Adobe Reader X slow to load in Remote Desktop Environment when multiple users have the application r

    I have Adobe Reader X installed in a Remote Desktop (Citrix XenApp 6.5) environment and find the more people running the process the slower it is to load (it can take up to 15 seconds).  The delay is not related to how loaded the servers are and all other applications load very quickly.  I have tried disabling protected mode and messages, but it does not help.  Does anyone know what is going on here?  Thanks.

    Looks like this may have been caused by the FileOpen plugin.  Now removed and for now working ok.

  • Remote Desktop Connection Mouse Slow with Windows 2012

    Hello:
    I am connecting to a customer site with Citrix and using Citrix's Remote Desktop. I know this may be a Citrix issue but not sure. Customer isn't helping so thought I would check here.
    I have two connections to computers in their network with Remote Desktop. One is to a Windows 2003 Server which works fine. When I connect to Windows 2012 the mouse is slow. I tried adjusting the mouse settings but it doesn't help.
    Has anyone else experienced this? Is it an issue specific to Citrix or to Remote Desktop in general?
    Thanks,

  • I have mac, desktop v. 3.6.16 will not update to 6. My mac laptop is updated to 6 but runs very slow. How do I get my laptop back to 3.6.16

    Desktop is an imac is 10.6.8 running firefox v 3.6.16 and runs well. My mac laptop also 10.6.8 automatically upgraded to 6.0 and runs very slow, and I do not like the layout of the toolbar. How do I get my laptop back to 3.16.6

    Now it is clear which it wasn't before! We can't see what you have done or not so a good descriptions does help when communicating.
    If you have done all you say and some restarts too I would advise you to do the install of 10.6 from the installation disc. Restart the computer and then install the 10.6.6 Combo update. You just install "on top" of what you have. No archiving or formatting.
