Javamail api and Microsoft Exchange

Hi there,
I wonder if there are different settings for the javamail (SMTP, Authentication) when the user is using Micorsoft Exchange.
The problem is that my user doesn't know what is his SMTP (I usually ask them to go to MS Outlook to figure it out) but since he is using the exchange software how can I tell what is the SMTP?
are there different setttings for the javamail api in this case?
thanks
peter

P_Primrose and Others,
I too am having the same issues. At my work i have administrative access to our MS Exchange server and have noticed that the server can be set to use OR block access via SMTP, POP or IMAP. Also the type of connection can also be set, Encrypted connections or non-encrypted connections.
Now i my instance I have noted that we have SMTP blocked, therefore no good and i have to swap to IMAP. Yuck. But my problem is that if my application is going to be developed to be used across all environments, will i run into the same problems when using other mail servers, such as Unix servers, etc.
My question to the world is how can you test a connection to a mail server and find out what it's requirements are??? Is there a way to get the settings from the client's system settings (Regedit)??? If this can be done then it's just a matter of building a routine to mirror and set those variables for your JavaMail.

  • Blackberry Curve and Microsoft Exchange

I'm not sure if I'm in the correct forum or not, but I have a question about Blackberry and Microsoft Exchange.
Do I need a Blackberry Server in order to synchronize to my MS Exchange Server?  I know I can get my email to synchronize using Outlook Web Access, but this doesn't help with my calendar.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ray

A BES would get the job done, but you could also use the desktop manager and just sync it over the wire. Also might want to look into the microsoft redirector
If someone helped you give them kudos. Research all info!

  • Oracle alerts and microsoft exchange server

    Hi,
We are working on Oracle Applications 11i (fail over on 2 servers) which is installed on Solaris 64 bit .
AND I am trying to configure Oracle Alerts with Microsoft Exchange Server.
I am following the note: Oracle Applications And Microsoft Exchange Server-Interoperability Guide.
At the step of configuring the exchange Server I need to know the account used to run the Concurrent Manager service.
    How can i check that?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
At the step of configuring the exchange Server I need to know the account used to run the Concurrent Manager service.
How can i check that? Most probably it is applmgr user.
To verify, issue "cd $COMMON_TOP/admin/scripts/<CONTEXT_NAME>", then "ls -l adcmctl.sh". This should should the OS owner of the script (the OS user which is used to start the CM). Or, you could check the value of the "s_appsuser" context variable in the application context file to determine the user.

  • MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH IPHONE 3G AND MICROSOFT EXCHANGE!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Ok,
My exchange server at work was synced to my iphone and has worked with no issues. I then exchanged my phone because there were issues with my bluetooth not syncing properly. So with this new phone, it prompts me to enter in my exchange server password every few days. I contacted my IT department as well and microsoft to get this issue resolved because I assume that there were issues with the exchange server. They were both able to see an event viewer and it showed that my iphone was attempting to log in numerous amounts of times, which locks out my account after 3 incorrect log ins. Even when I erased the exchange account from my phone, it still showed that the phone in the event viewer was trying to log in over and over again. I then did a master clear and restore and the process was removed in the event viewer. So then I called my IT department to unlock my account after I cleared everything. I was able to sync everything again with it working properly. Now its a day later and the my exchanger server prompts me to enter in the password AGAIN and my exchange account is locked AGAIN because the event viewer at work is showing the same issues. Is my Iphone not saving the password correctly? What do I do? My IT department even created a dummy account to see if a new account would fix the issues but yet no cigar! HELP!!

The iPhone you returned is still syncing against your server and locking out your account. Someone possibly has access to your mail data. I'd recommend having your Exchange Administrator install the Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync Web Administration Tool (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E6851D23-D145-4DBF-A2CC -E0B4C6301453&displaylang=en) and attempt to wipe/delete/block that other iPhone.

  • Problems with Yosemite and Microsoft Exchange?

Hi, everyone, I upgraded all of my computers I work on to Yosemite (home and work); my iPhone and iPad both run IOS 8.1.  I have 2 Gmail accounts that I use regularly; my job (university) is using Microsoft Exchange for the mail server.  I use MacMail; don't really like Outlook for mail things.
I have periodically had some problems with pulling my job e-mail up on MacMail; since I converted to Yosemite, it has gone on steroids.  I can see all of my Gmail just fine (contrary to some others who have reported problems); anything that is Exchange-based mail on my job's e-mail account will show the sender and the subject—the message itself is blank, sometimes for minutes sometimes forever.  I have quit and restarted Mail, quit and restarted the computer to varying success, but it is still highly unpredictable other than not showing the message for a very long time.
When I use the web-based version of Outlook, it instantly shows everything.  An A-B comparison of Outlook and Mail sometimes even has some messages not having even been downloaded into Mail, even though I have clicked on Get Mail.
And—in the iPhone and iPad, everything is fine 100% of the time.  Works wonderfully.
    Any ideas?

Try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

  • Battery drain with 2 Push accounts Mobile Me and Microsoft exchange:

One might ask why I need two. Well, I started with a Microsoft Exchange account,, and now am trying Mobile Me. For now they are both being pushed to me. Do I get extra drain from having 2 accounts? I wonder if I get twice the drainage with 2 instead of 1 account. I had done a restore from backup when I got my new 3GS,, and didn't notice too much drain, but thought I could do better, so I restored a fresh 3.0 firmware, without a backup,, funny thing is, that I thought I would enhance battery life. So far, it seems worse than my restore from backup . All that work, with little improvement to show for it

You are going to get more battery drain with the 2 push accounts. Try removing the Exchange account for one day and see what happens to the battery life.

  • OSX 10.5.8 and Microsoft Exchange 2010

    Hello
Is it possible to get Entourage on Mac OSX 10.5.8 to work with A microsoft exchange 2010 server? I know it will work if we upgrade to Snow Leopard but some of our staff still have power pc macs and therefore can't use Snow Leopard.
    Thanks
    Gary

There is no reason why it should not work, it worked with exchange 2003 and 2007.

  • Software update TIGER 10.4.4 and Microsoft Exchange

This weekend I have updated to Tiger 10.4.4. (ran the software update) and today returning to the office, the microsoft exchange account stays dead. I can send mail but not receive.
The strange thing is there are no errors mentioned, the messages just don't show. When I check through webmail, there are messages, also the one's I mail to myself as test.
    Any suggestions?
    Dries

I hope that you have a backup?
My powerbook had the same problems after the update.
endless loop of logging in etc, password not recognised, filevault master password was never activated but the mac wanted it?
I had to do a complete system install and then I used use my backup.
I would suggest that you try the archive and install option from your install disk.
You could be more fortuante than myself and get back to where you were before the update.
I booted several times with my system dvd and did disk repair and permissions and everything checked OK but still could not get past login when running from the intern drive.
The good news is that after getting things reinstalled with system 10.4 I then did the software update again and now its running perfectly with 10.4.4.
    regards

  • Iphone and Microsoft Exchange server 2007.

We as a corporate company have many iphone users, and the iphone users are configured with our corporate microsoft exchange 2007 server.  So the users use their iphones to check their corporate emails which is on microsoft exchange 2007.   So they have setup a connection on their iphones to the company exchange server.
The issue we have is that the iphone users have issues with sending out email via the exchange email accounts on their iphones, when they send large emails, or emails with a long chains, When they send these emails the emails gets stuck in the outbox, and does not send out.  The users then have to delete the content in the email, or make the email less in size and then it sends OK.
We have checked our exchange server and the settings seem ok, and we have contacted microsoft, and they have done some tests with a windows mobile emulator which acts like a mobile device, and there are no issues with sending email their.  So they have asked me to contact Apple about any issues.
So has anyone come across this issue.  Any suggestions.

    Try this:
    1. On your Exchange server that runs your active sync or outlook web access, open IIS
    2. Right click on the website that contains exchange components and choose properties.
    3. Select the "Directory Security" tab
    4. Under "Secure Communications", click the "Edit" button
    5. Under "Client Certificates", select "Ignore Client Certificates"
    6. *IMPORTANT STEP: When you click ok and ok again, it may ask you whether you want to change other subfolders within the main container with the modifications you have just made, dont select any of these subfolders, just click OK. It is only the main properties you need to change. Those that need to inherit, should already inherit properly. If you select other subfolders to change with the modifications you have just made, it will likely ruin your active directory setup as some subfolders need different security settings to others.

  • HTML email and Microsoft Exchange

When I setup a Microsoft exchange account (server = m.hotmail.com), the email shows as text, not as HTML (as it should).
The same email shows correctly as HTML when I setup a Hotmail email account.
Is there a fix to this yet?
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

I tried using the POP3 but It will not send emails using this configuration. However, I receive emails perfectly. Or I got a wrong configuration....
    Incoming POP server
    pop3.live.com
    Incoming POP mail port
    995
    Outgoing SMTP server
    smtp.live.com
    Outgoing SMTP port (primary)
    25
I have tried the outgoing with 587 and SSL, TLS and same results. It shows error saying that I can receive but will not be able to send.
In the meantime, I deleted and using the m.hotmail.com configuration but hate to see the text. This is wifi!!! should be HTML.

  • Ios5 and microsoft  exchange 2003 email accounts

Hi just wondering if anyone out there has actually found a solution to a problem that I and a few other people are encountering with syncing a microsoft exchange account with iphone.  After putting all the necessary details into the settings in the iphone I simply get a message "unable to verify account information"  I've played around with domain names and server names but no luck.  Anyone had this problem and solved it?

if everything is correct try rebooting the iphone by holding the power/home key at the same time for 10 to 15 seconds or until you see the apple logo and then release.
I'm using work exchange account and having no problem receiving/sending emails.

  • I have a BlackBerry and Microsoft Exchange Server.  How will I sync with my new iPad?

I have a BlackBerry that is supported by a Microsoft Exchange Server so I can sync my BlackBerry and my laptop which is a PC.  How do I sync my Outlook info with my new iPad2 so all of my devices are connected?  Thank you.

The setup , as was mentioned, is basically the same as a Wimndows Mobile device.  You need mail server name, your domain login and credentials  You will also need to check you wi-fi connection and be sure you can get rhough whatever enterprise proxy servers you might have. If you have 3g I would use that and not mess around with a proxied network, if that is an issue for you.
One additional caveat....adding another mobile device significantly increases the complexity of your mail delivery system.  There are articles on the Microsoft kbase that talk about Outlook calendaring best practices.  Watch for calendar consistency issues.  You might consider running Outlook in online rather than cached mode, or at the minimum deleting and rebuilding your cache file.

    Paul,
I hope you are right, but I fear you are not.
I was told by my att guy that if I wanted to access my Exchange Server that I would have to pay the extra $15/mo. When I questioned him, he told that the only difference between the standard and the Enterprise accounts was the Exchange Server option.
Again, it would be really nice if that turns out not to be the case, because I will probably just stick with the standard service rather than pay the additional $15 just for Push.
I'm sorry to say this, but he is wrong.
All of our hand held users at out office have phones that are paid for on their own account. We do not utilize business accounts. They are able to get ActiveSync just fine.
Even from AT&T's own main page on individual accounts [here|http://www.wireless.att.com/cell-phone-service/legal/plan-terms.jsp] they do not make any statement that you must have a business account to access exchange. AT&T does not make this requirement for any of their Windows Mobile phones with ActiveSync. None. Why would this be different with the iPhone?
I am sorry to tell you that if enterprise mail was not included on individual accounts, than why do their terms or usage talk about it. If corporate access to email was prerequisite by a business account, than why do their personal account pages mention corporate email access. Their Business page only applies to partnerships that AT&T has with various business. For proof I went to their page and entered in my email address. Sure enough, I [failed|http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/auth_fail.jsp]. This was why:
Your company or school web site address was not found in our records. Check with your Telecom or Benefits Administrator to see if your company or school is a current AT&T business customer.
We don't have a partnership with AT&T. I know this already. Yet at the same time I know several people in out organization that use ActiveSync and have AT&T personal account - I know that for a fact since I spoke with them about it. They have no restrictions. By your assertion, since we are not a business customer, several employees should not be accessing Exchange. They are.

  • Q10 and Microsoft Exchange Server

    Please help!
I got the Q10 back in May. The IT at my work is not going to upgrade the server to support the BES10 and has no plans on doing so in the near future. All I am told is they will not support the Q10 or Z10 models. So I had to reactivate my bold 9900 after a few days and the Q10 is gathering dust on a shelf.
However, we do have external access to our email account through microsoft exchange and I know my colleagues with iphones have an application that allows them to sychronize with their work accounts via the exchange. Does the Q10 have anything similar or is anything in development? If not, I may have to sell the Q10 and move on as my 9900 is kaput.
Many thanks in advance for any help!!

Hi jlkb78 and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
If Microsoft ActiveSync is available on the Exchange server, you can add your email to your BlackBerry Q10!  From Settings>Accounts, click on Add Account then click on the Advanced button at the bottom of the screen then choose ActiveSync.  Enter the information to add the email account!
Let me know if that helps.
    Thanks.

  • Ical and microsoft exchange server

I'm switching my office from Pc's to macs. I'm keeping my microsoft exchange server. I have the mac addresses and mail syncing with the exchange server. We can figure out how to sync Ical with the exchange server. I was told that Groupcal would work - but the makers seem to have disappeared. You can buy the software, but I'm not sure they are around to support it. any help would be appreciated.

I have been experiencing this issue for a couple of months, and today I found the solution here:
    http://www.n8henrie.com/2012/12/google-calendar-delegates-and-mountain-lion-cale ndar/
Basically, Google Calendar will revert to the original behaviour by unchecking the third-party calendars from the list in this "iPhone Sync Settings" page from Google.
