Javascript anomoly on day count between two dates
Using ApEx 4.0, I have found an anomoly in some javascript code that calculates the number of days between two dates, the current_date and the past_date. If the past-date is on or before March 10, 2013, and the current_date is between March 10, 2013, and November 3, 2013, the day count will be 1 day less than the actual count. Between November 3, 2013, and November 4, 2013, the count increments by 2, and then the count will be accurate from this date forward.
Here are examples:
Mar 10, 2013 = 69 days from 31-DEC-2012
Mar 11, 2013 = 69 days from 31-DEC-2012
Mar 12, 2013 = 70 days from 31-DEC-2012
Nov. 3 2013 = 306 days from 31-DEC-2012
Nov. 4 2013 = 308 days from 31-DEC-2012
March 11 should be 70, and March 12 should be 71. November 3 should be 307, and November 4 corrects the wrong count which began March 11.
Changing the past_date to March 10, 2013 produces the following:
10-Mar-2013 = 0 days from 10-Mar-2013
11-Mar-2013 = 0 days from 10-Mar-2013
12-Mar-2013 = 1 days from 10-Mar-2013
But changing the past_date to March 11, 2013, produces correct numbers:
11-Mar-2013 = 0 days from 11-Mar-2013
12-Mar-2013 = 1 days from 11-Mar-2013
13-Mar-2013 = 2 days from 11-Mar-2013
I would certainly appreciate anyone's help on identifying the cause of this anomoly. Here is the javascript code:
var w1= ($v("P48_PAST_DATE"));
w1 = (w1.toString());
var vmon = (w1.substr(3,3));
var vyr = (w1.substr(7));
var r = (vyr.length);
if (r == 2)
vyr = (parseFloat(vyr) + 2000);
var vday = (w1.substr(0,2));
var y = (vmon.concat(" ",vday,", ",vyr));
y = Date.parse(y);
var w2 = ($v("P48_CURRENT_DATE"));
var vmon2 = (w2.substr(3,3));
var vyr2 = (w2.substr(7));
var vday2 = (w2.substr(0,2));
var x = (vmon2.concat(" ",vday2,", ",vyr2));
x = Date.parse(x);
var numdays = (x - y);
numdays = (Math.floor(numdays / 86400000));
$s("P48_NUMBEROFDAYS",numdays);
Did you google for something like "javascript number of days between two dates". I think you will find the explanation in this observation:
This method doesn't work properly if there's a daylight savings jump between the two dates.
There are examples to be found to calculate the difference between two dates.

my query is like below.
SELECT (to_date('19-mar-2012','dd-mm-yyyy')-to_date('01-apr-2012','dd-mm-yyyy')) FROM dual
its given out like -13 but i want in positive mod like 13 only not '-' Sign.just use abs() function to your query to get the positive value

How do you work out the number of days difference between two dates?
I'm running Crystal v12.
We use a date field in our SQL database that we use to store the client's year end date.
As the year end date (date and month) doesn't change for a client, the year end date field in all of our reports is set to just show the DD/MM part. Over the years as new clients are set up we just enter the date and month - the year part is irrelevant although as in all date fields the year is automatically entered.
Doing it this way means that we don't have to adjust the year end year part each year. We just use the DD/MM part.
I need to create a formula that works out the number of days there have been (i.e. the difference) from the current date to the year end date. It MUST EXCLUDE the year however.
For example:
Year End Date = 30/04/03
Current Date = 25/05/10
Days Difference (EXCLUDING year) = 25
Days Difference (including year) = 2582
Year End Date = 31/03/09
Current Date = 25/05/09
Days Difference (EXCLUDING year) = 55
Days Difference (including year) = 420
If you include the year part then working out day difference is simply a case of creating a formula that subtracts the year end date from the current date (CurrentDate - {tblClient.YearEnd}.
HOWEVER I need to exclude the year part.
Can anyone tell me the formula or best way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

Edited by: BadBoy House on May 25, 2010 3:15 PMHi
You can try this
datevar e := date(year(currentdate),month({tblClient.YearEnd}),day({tblClient.YearEnd}));
numbervar num_days := datediff("d",currentdate,e)
Create a datevar called e that uses the original month and day numbers for {tblClient.YearEnd} but uses the year of the current date
Then just datediff on e to get the number of days between the two dates
I hope i understand your problem and that this helps

SQL to count the number of days between two dates
Does any one have or know how to count the number of days/weeks between 2 dates.
I have thought about using MONTHS_BETWEEN, but do not know how to make it accurate down to one day?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.here are the different queries I came up with to do this, you may want to check it for perticular cases involving Sun and Sat as start and end dates.

Calculate Difference in Days Between two Dates
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to calculate the difference in days between two dates using JavaScript in LiveCycle. (JavaScript knowledge = minimal)
Where "Start_Date" and "Current_Date" are the names of the two dates in the Hierarchy palette. (both Date/Time Field)
*Current date is using the Object > Value > Runtime Property > Current Date/Time
I need a Text or Numeric field displaying the difference in days. (Difference_in_Days)
I've noticed the following code being pretty standard amongst other responses:
var
Start_Date = new Date(Start_Date);
var
Current_Date = new Date(Current_Date);
var
nAgeMilliseconds = Current_Date.getTime() - Start_Date.getTime();
var
nMilliSecondsPerYear = 365 * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000;
I know there's code missing, and the above code might not be correct.
Please advise.Where "DateField01" = user entered date field
Where "DateFiled02" = Current Date/Time (Runtime Property)
where "Subform" = the subform containing DateField01
My script now resembles:
var oneDay = 24*60*60*1000;
var firstDate = new Date(Subform.DateField01.rawValue);
var secondDate = new Date(DateField02.rawValue);
(firstDate.getTime() - secondDate.getTime()) / oneDay;
I tried adding:
app.alert(String(diffDays));
Although I assume the reason I didn't get an error is because DateField01 is empty when the form is opened.
If I swap in actual dates instead of fields it works perfectly.
When I use the fields I have no information populating after I enter a date in "DateField01" -
How to query the number of working days between two dates
I'm looking for a solution to calculate the number of <i>working</i> days between two dates that I can use in a formated search.
Calculating the total number of days is pretty straight forward but does anyone know how to take into account the settings in the HLD1 (Holiday Dates) table?Hi Eric,
If you are purely looking to exclude holidays defined in the HLD1 table, then you should be able to do it with the following query
NOTE: The following query is an example using OINV table and the fields DOCDATE and DOCDUEDATE for a Particular DOCNUM 'xxx'
If you planning to use within the SAP module then replace DOCDATE and DOCDUEDATE with dynamic field references $[$x.x.x]
SELECT DATEDIFF(DAY,T0.DOCDATE,T0.DOCDUEDATE)-
(SELECT COUNT(STRDATE) FROM HLD1 WHERE STRDATE >= T0.DOCDATE AND STRDATE <= T0.DOCDUEDATE)
FROM OINV T0
WHERE T0.DOCNUM = xxx

How to count the number of Fridays and Saturdays between two dates
Hi every one ... If we want to count the number of Fridays and Saturdays between two dates, how would we do that ? !
Dates are ( 11-Feb-2010) to (19-May-2010)
how to do it in SQL
Edited by: khalidoracleit on Jul 28, 2010 5:51 AMsome nice coding here, I'm still amazed with what some people can do with "connect by". But I agree with some statements here that this can take "time", and to be honest, it's funny to see it working, but if you do not have a computer, just a calendar and some paper, would you go for "counting" so there must be a better solution?
The best working math in here is done by Aketi Jyuuzou, who writes so good English that I wonder why he still insists that he doesn't ;-)
Anyhow I "translated" that code to English, and I really like that math. Math is math and data is data.

Calculate business day between two dates
Hi Guys
I need the count of business days between two dates
Date1, Date2 i need the count only business day (exclude sartuday&sunday)
If date1 is null or nothing i need to pass 0
If date2 is null or nothing i need to pass 0
help on thisHi,
To achive this within SSRS, go to the report code window and add the below
Function getBusinessDaysCount(ByVal tFrom As Date, ByVal tTo As Date) As Integer
Dim tCount As Integer
Dim tProcessDate As Date = tFrom
For x as Integer= 1 To DateDiff(DateInterval.Day, tFrom, tTo) + 1
If Not (tProcessDate.DayOfWeek = DayOfWeek.Saturday Or tProcessDate.DayOfWeek = DayOfWeek.Sunday) Then
tCount = tCount + 1
End If
tProcessDate = DateAdd(DateInterval.Day, 1, tProcessDate)
Next
Return tCount
End Function
In the textbox where you need to display the value, add the below expression
=Code.getBusinessDaysCount(parameters!StartDate.Value,parameters!EndDate.Value)
It is assumed the you want to pass the two days from parameters named Startdate and EndDate. If not, modify the expression with required values.

Working days between two date fields and Changing Factory Calendar
Hi,
I have to calculate working days between two date fields excluding the weekends and public holidays for Switzerland.
I have written the routine using factory calender and its working fine except for two problems now:
1. If any one of the date field is empty then teh rsult should be zero.
2. And the below code is working from 1996 but my cleints wants it to work for years before 1996 as well.
I also tried to change the Start date in SCAL for factory calendar but it says enter values between 1995 to 2020.
I am new to ABAP. Please help me how i can achieve these for below code.
DATA: IT_HOLIDAYS type TABLE OF ISCAL_DAY,
IS_HOLIDAYS TYPE ISCAL_DAY.
DATA: T_DATE TYPE SY-DATUM,
P_DATE TYPE SY-DATUM.
DATA : X_DATE(4) TYPE C.
DATA: CNT TYPE I.
REFRESH : IT_HOLIDAYS.
CLEAR : IT_HOLIDAYS.
T_DATE = SOURCE_FIELDS-/BIC/ZCCCHP812.
P_DATE = SOURCE_FIELDS-/BIC/ZCCCHP810.
CALL FUNCTION 'HOLIDAY_GET'
EXPORTING
HOLIDAY_CALENDAR = 'CH'
FACTORY_CALENDAR = 'CH'

Using pl/sql function for each day between two dates.
Hi,
create TABLE EMP(
ID_EMP NUMBER,
DT_FROM DATE,
DT_TO DATE,
CREATE_DATE DATE);
into EMP(ID_EMP, DT_FROM, DT_TO, CREATE_DATE)
Values(100, TO_DATE('07/01/2008 00:00:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'), TO_DATE('04/30/2010 00:00:00', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'),TO_DATE('05/08/2009 14:11:21', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS'));
I have a function called elig_pay_dates(date p_date), which returns the code for person payment eligibility for a particular date. For paid dates it's 'P' and for unpaid dates it's 'N'.
How can I check this function between two dates for each day. Example : 07/01/2008 to 04/30/2010.
By using this function with select I needs to display the dates when there is a change in status.
I am expecting data in following manner from above logic(this is example):
07/01/2008 --- 07/01/2009 ---'P'
07/02/2009 -- 07/25/2009 ----'N'
07/26/2009 -- 01/01/2010 ---'P'
01/02/2010 -- 01/13/2010 --'N'
01/14/2010 -- 01/18/2010 --'P'
01/19/2010 -- 04/30/2010 -- 'N'
I thought of looping for each day date but that seems to be expensive for online application. Is there any way that I can achieve this requirement with sql query ?
Thanks for your help,Certainly not the best way to code the requirement, but it does achieve the result you are looking for in a fairly quick time

How can I calculate the maximum number of days between two dates in a range of dates?
I have a column of dates spanning the couse of a few months. I would like to know if I can calculate the maximum number of days between each row and display the highest number. I currently have another column that calculates the days betwen the rows and I am currently just looking at the totals and highlighting the highest period.
Is this possible? Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you,
TrevorThis sounds totally possible, Can you post a screen shot of your table to make responding more focused? If you mean you want to:
A) compute the difference (in days) between two date in the same row, then
B) find the max duration (in days)
Here is my take on this problem:
D2 = C2-B2
select D2 and fill down
F1=MAX(D)
to perform the conditional formatting (to highlight the max duration) select column D, then set up conditional formatting as shown in the 1st image -
How to calculate number of days between two date in Template design?

There is an extension function you can use, from the javadoc:
date_diff
public static long date_diff(java.lang.String format,
java.lang.String fromDate,
java.lang.String toDate,
java.lang.String locStr,
java.lang.String tzID)
Method to get the difference between two dates in the given locale. The dates need to be in "yyyy-MM-dd" format. This function supports only Gregorian calendar.
Parameters:
format - the format to which the difference is required; allowed formats are y (for Year), m(for month), w(for week), d(for day), h(for hour), mi(for minute), s(for seconds) and ms(for milliseconds)
fromDate - the first date
toDate - the second date
locStr - locale string -> lang-Territory
tzID - timezone ID ->http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/java/util/TimeZone.html
Returns:
the difference in dates in the desired format
For example
<?xdoxslt:date_diff(‘d’,’2009-09-14’, ‘2009-09-20’,’en-US’,1)?>
give a result of 6
You can substitute in columns for the dates, just remember the date format required.
