Javascript error in navigation

Hi all,
I have a problem in the portal navigation (we have Enterprise Portal 6.0).
I have the following structure:
My staff (workset)  Appraisals (workset)  Appraisals (page)
The page contains several links to BSP applications.
The problem occurs with only one of these links: whenever I click it the application loads and works fine, but as soon as I click on the "Appraisals" workset nothing happens and I can't go back to the links page. I have to click on the upper menu "My staff" and re-navigate to the "Appraisals" workset to see the page with links.
When the error occurs the following Javascript error is recorded by the browser:
Error recorded by Internet Explorer 6.0 sp1:
line: 778
char: 3
error:'gNavTree.children[...].children' is null or not an object
Code: 0
URL: http://sapepr01.myclient.it:52500/irj/portal
Error recorded by Mozilla Firefox 1.5:
errore: gNavTree.children[gLevelOneActiveID] has no properties
source file: http://sapepr01.myclient.it:52500/irj/portal
row: 778
Do you have any clue about this error? Can you give me some hints?
Thank you for your help,
Lorenzo Tandin

Hi Kristoffer,
our system administrators told me that a similar problem was encountered before by my client and they pointed me to a SAP note (Number 913065). I copy here an abstract of it:
<i>Symptom
When clicking on the TLN the following javascript error is thrown:
"gNavTree.children[...] is null or not an object"
This can occur in one of the following cases:
1. The first page after login contains a page with links. If one of the
links leads to a page in the PCD that is not part of any of the roles and
was clicked before clicking anything else in the TLN - the next time the
user will click on the TLN the js error will be thrown.
2. One of the pages in the portal contains a list of links that leads to an
invisible page after clicking on one of the links and then clicking on the
TLN, the above js error appear.

In fact, in our system the problem occurs with the very first link of the "Appraisals" workset  we follow; if we go back and try another link, this new one doesn't present the problem.
Unfortunately, our page seems to be "part of a role", so I don't actually understand why the problem occurs.
I hope this can be useful to you...

  • Javascript error in Navigation Menu

    Hi,
    We migrated from MII 11.5 to 12.1. In 12.1, when I select a role in the Navigation Menu in the main menu, it gives the following error -
    Line: 1858
    Char: 1
    Error: Object expected
    Code: 0
    URL: http:<server>:<port>/XMII/Admin/CMSAdmin
    Has anybody seen this type of error before? If so, where could I check the associated .html page? Looks like its one of those standard system-related .html file and not a project-related file.
    Regards,
    Chanti.

    It sounds to me like the Navigation editor javascript is having an issue with one of the home page options for tabs or links.  Does it happen for all Roles selected in the drop down, or just the one in question?  Does the same thing happen when switching to User mode?
    You could consider exporting the navigation from the Configurations page in the System Management section of the menu to see if there are any suspicious links in the xml for the problemmatic Role(s).

  • Updated to Firefox 35 and now I get a Javascript error message

    My Firefox updated to version 35 and now on every page I go I get this javascript error message: : 'navigator' getter called on an object that does not implement window interface. I'm not sure what is the source of the error. I have not installed any new extensions. I'm attaching an image so you can see the error message.

    Please report this to that add-ons support page.

  • Javascript error in Content Admin- Portal Content- iview Navigation window

    Hi friends,
    We are in the process of portal migration and as a part of this, we installed NW04 SPS 14 using Rapid Installer and then upgraded it to SPS 18. The components we upgraded are:
    Java component
    Portal Platform
    Knowledge Management and Collaboration
    Adobe Document Services
    BI UDI
    BI MMR
    After upgradation, when we logged in to portal, we were not able to see/browse Portal pages/Roles/Iviews/Worksets (PCD Contents) under Content Administration->Portal Content.
    Again, whichever window is there for navigation of PCD, we are not able to see the contents of PCD.For e.g. System Administration -> System Configuration.
    Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

  • Chart Navigation Javascript Error

    Hey guys,
    I have a problem trying to navigate from a chart which has a x-axis scale and a legend (means both of them are supposed to be sent to the navigated-to report).
    My legend is in hebrew btw, so what BI usually does is convert it to hex and it works.
    When i try to navigate without a legend (my x-axis scale contains numbers) it works, and also when I put the legend as the x-axis and remove my numbers scale (so that hebrew values are sent, but only when one value is sent).
    My problem seems to be when trying to send to filters and the second filter is in hebrew, because clicking on different categories i get different errors, like:
    "Expected '['"
    "Unterminated string constant"
    "Expected hexadecimal digit"
    etc.
    Does anyone know this problem? Is there a patch maybe?

  • Javascript error in detailed navigation

    Hi all
    I have workset inside workset, so it looks like folder in the detailed navigation.
    One of my users is try access this folder on his computers but get a javascript error. He can see the other iViews on the root folder, but when he tries to enter a inside folder he gets a javascript error and he can't continue.Any Ideas?
    Thanks
         Omer

    OK, so this is what I figure out, <u>from testing on the user computer</u>.
    When the user who logged to windows is a regular user with the default settings <u>there is no problem</u> (No matter which user logged to the portal).
    When the user who logged to windows is the problematic user, <u>there is a problem in the portal</u> (No matter which user logged to the portal).
    So it must be a setting in the internet explorer, right?
    it's not the security settings, because I add the portal to the trusted sites and the problem persist.But maybe the settings in Tools --> Internet options --> advance are wrong???
    Any other ideas???

  • Javascript error generated on localization of detailed navigation links.

    I m working on an application in EP KM and doing localization. when I log in with language user I m getting javascript error.
    error comes when I click on the link in detailed navigation. All the detailed navigation links has been translated in 4 languages.(Spanish,French,Italian,german). Special character problem is also a problem in detailed navigation, on Page and iviews its fine.
    anybody idea about translation of detailed navigation and any error that is generated by that link. ( We have done translation using worklist translation manually. )
    I cannot modify Script that generates errors. Because It is auto generated by SAP.
    I watched preview of available pages in that particular language, I am getting no errors.
    So I think there is no error with language.
    So what can be the problem actually?

    Hi,
    We are experiencing the same issue and believe it is a required change on the detailed navigation.
    If you are able to fix this, please can you let me know what the possible fix is.
    Thanks

    3. Whenever we execute any BW report we are getting alert box with

  • Dreamweaver 6.1 - JavaScript error when switching between open tabs

    When switching between open tabs a sequence of javascript
    errors occurs. I had not used Dreamweaver for about 2 weeks, and
    last time I used it with no problems.
    I have tried uninstalling it, OKing removal of all files when
    asked, re-installing it and updating with dwmx61_updater.exe, but I
    still get the same errors.
    This has rendered the software virtually unuseable, so any
    help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm working to a
    rapidly-approaching deadline.
    "While executing Browse_Back enabled in toolbars.xml, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    followed by
    "While executing Browse_Forward enabled in toolbars.xml, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    followed by
    "While executing Browse_Stop enabled in toolbars.xml, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    The relevant code seems to be :
    <!-- Browser nav toolbar -->
    <toolbar id="Browser_Toolbar" platform="win"
    label="Browser Navigation" container="document"
    initiallyVisible="false">
    <button id="Browse_Back"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/back.gif"
    disabledImage="Toolbars/images/MM/back_dis.gif"
    tooltip="Back"
    label="Back"
    enabled="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.isCmdEnabled('back')"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.backPage()"
    update="onEveryIdle"/>
    <button id="Browse_Forward"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/forward.gif"
    disabledImage="Toolbars/images/MM/forward_dis.gif"
    tooltip="Forward"
    label="Forward"
    enabled="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.isCmdEnabled('forward')"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.forwardPage()"
    update="onEveryIdle"/>
    <button id="Browse_Stop"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/stop.gif"
    disabledImage="Toolbars/images/MM/stop_dis.gif"
    tooltip="Stop"
    label="Stop"
    enabled="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.getPageBusy()"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.stopPage()"
    update="onBrowserPageBusyChange"/>
    <button id="Browse_Refresh"
    image="Toolbars/images/MM/browserRefresh.gif"
    tooltip="Refresh"
    label="Refresh"
    enabled="true"
    command="dw.getDocumentDOM().browser.refreshPage()"/>
    presumably the next error is caused by the previous ones
    failing :
    "While executing getCurrentValue in AddressURL.htm, a
    JavaScript error occurred"
    the relevan tcode :
    function getCurrentValue()
    var dom = dw.getDocumentDOM();
    var value = dom.browser.getURL();
    if (value && value.length)
    //check if is it not a temp file
    //extract the tail of the url
    var filename = value;
    var slashIndex = filename.lastIndexOf("/");
    filename = filename.substring(slashIndex+1);
    var tempIndex = filename.indexOf("TMP");
    if (tempIndex != 0)
    addRecentAddress(value);
    return value;

    You can try this simple fix -
    Quit DW.
    Find this folder -
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
    Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\WinFileCache-*.dat
    (these folders are normally hidden - you may have to use
    Explorer > Tools >
    Folder Options to unhide them)
    and delete it.
    Restart DW. Works better?

  • JavaScript error on Interactive Report

    When clicking on the Magnifying glass of my interactive report search bar, I receive a JavaScript error.
    Line: 2 Char: 15193 Error: Syntax Error
    The page that I am navigating to has 2 regions. The first is an interactive report and the second is an html region that has an Iframe reference to another interactive report. Based upon the selection of a radio group, the corresponding region(interactive report) displays. All other interactive reports work fine when their pages don't have a region with a Iframe reference.
    If I navigate to another page after the error occurs and then come back to the page, everything then works fine. The error only happens on the first use. I have installed the latest patch set for Apex 3.2 I currently am running 3.2.1.00.11. I read a bug on Metalink that referenced this javascript error, but applying the patch set does not seem to fix the issue. The bug was 8568894.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    This might be useful for others also...
    After hours and hours of debugging headers and responses and comparing pages to others which work, I realised that this interactive report's display condition is based on REQUEST = SUBMIT.
    As such, the actions menu will NOT set the Request parameter when clicking in the actions menu and the Apex engine refuses to send anything back to the browser - not even an error message.
    I'll raise a bug for this via Oracle Support.
    Cheers, Pete

  • JavaScript error:Timeout

    Hello,
    I am calculating the value for the barcode (3 of 9) using JavaScript to generate a non-interactive PDF. On the Adobe Sever (ES LC 8.2), after running for 5 hours, I am experiencing script timeout error while calculating the barcode on the first page of every document that is getting processed. If I restart the Adobe server every thing is fine until the server hits the threashold of 5 hours.
    This only happens for the first page of every document, so if there are 10 pages then barcode gets calculated correctly from the second page. Very unusual behavior.
    Below is the exception,
    [5/25/10 20:30:25:976 EDT] 00000036 XMLFormServic W com.adobe.service.ProcessResource$ManagerImpl log ALC-XTG-102-001: [340010] Error: Timeout

    Appreciate your help on this.
    Thanks,
    Laxman.

    Both are valid behaviors unfortunately.
    1) login portlet is showing up in specific portlet b/c inline navigation allows for you to create and load pages without affecting the overall portal.
    This happens when you use iframes (which behave in a similar fashion).
    - your only workaround is really to write some javascript function to "listen" to the portal login page getting loaded and then throwing the session into the parent browser (which is Portal). At least this is the only solution that I ever came up with when using Iframes.
    2) Don't know about out of memory error actually, but getting the "gatewy was not able to access requested content" is valid b/c the session died.
    - javascript errors require javascript solutions. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful than that.
    Maybe someone else will have better suggestions.
    The other suggestion is to use your app server to listen to the logout event and redirect appropriately to somewhere else, or have it do what you want it to do in situations as this.

  • CSS issues....get Javascript error on click event

    Trying to finish up this navbar. Got it where my navigation works pretty much great. However, the code I expected to work when I fire a click event on the logo (represnted currently by a gray circle) causes a 'Javascript error in event handler! Event Type = element' error instead. Not sure why. I know I had an issue with one of my button references (spelling issue) but beyond that, everything seems to be in order.
    This is the code I'm using. The first five lines work right. The second series does not.
    sym.getSymbol("btnVision").$("back").css({opacity: 0})
    sym.getSymbol("btnIndustires").$("back").css({opacity: 1})
    sym.getSymbol("btnResp").$("back").css({opacity: 1})
    sym.getSymbol("btnCommunity").$("back").css({opacity: 1})
    sym.getSymbol("btnDiscovery").$("back").css({opacity: 1})
    var stage = sym.getComposition().getStage()
    stage.$("navVision").css({top: 65});
    stage.$("navIndustries").css({top: 65});
    stage.$("navResp").css({top: 65});
    stage.$("navCommunity").css({top: 65});
    stage.$("navDiscovery").css({top: 65});
    I should mentioned I tried sym.getSymbol for the bottom entries but that simply produced the same exact error. Sign.
    Anyone know what might be causing this? It doesn't seem to make sense to me. Here's the files.

    Hi ladobeugm,
    The error message is rather cryptic, but this occurs when trying to access something not defined, as you already experienced with your misspelling.
    You should use Firebug to localize the error via step by step execution. There is a Scripts tab. In its menu, select <youProject>Actions.js. Then, define a breakpoint by clicking in the line number of statement var stage= etc. In the Spies area, you can look for the offending statement by monitoring variable values.

  • Javascript error throws the portal theme configuration page

    General Description: Javascript error and jump to the portal theme
    configuration page
    EP: NW04s SP12 including KMC
    We have a problem when we entry to the portal, a javascript
    error happens and immediately jumps to the portal theme configuration
    page. We entry at the portal with a user that have assigned the next groups.
    LR_Administrador LR_Administrador Base de datos UME
    Everyone Built-in Group Everyone Adaptador de grupo integrado
    Authenticated Users Built-in Group Authenticated Users Adaptador de
    grupo integrado
    The group LR_Administrador have assigned this role
    Nombre unívoco:

    Descripción: Libro Rojo
    ID unívoco: ROLE.PCD_ROLE_PERSISTENCE.38yt+Psq/fFQuE3Uxdt52Azfdpg=
    The role LR_MX_ROL_Administrador, have assigned only one page called:
    LR_MX_PAG_Edicion
    This page contains a KM Navigation iview.
    When we entry with this user, the browser show us this javascript error:
    Linea: 107
    Car: 116
    Error: 'children' es nulo o no es un objeto
    Codigo: 0
    URL: http://fedbdvep:50000/irj/portal
    And immediately show the portal theme configuration page.
    We need that the user see the page assigned, but this error shows him
    always the portal theme configuration page. This kind of error happens with
    other roles too. We've found a workaround
    for this situation, doing click on the first level navigation, the
    LR_MX_PAG_Edicion page shows normally.
    Thank for any help.
    Regards
    Jose
