Javascript in popup window unwanted closure

Hi
I have a window that is called from another page. A button at the bottom of the new page closes the window but only if three LOVs that are populated using AJAX calls are filled out should this be possible.
However, the alert below is raised correctly but then the page closes. How do I prevent this closure from happening please?
Phil
<script language="javascript">
function alarm()
passBack();
function passBack() {
if (document.forms[0].P44_JOB_SERVICE.value!='%null%' &&
document.forms[0].P44_DOMAIN.value!='-1' &&
document.forms[0].P44_DETAIL.value!='-1')
top.opener.document.getElementById("P3_SERVICE").value = document.forms[0].P44_JOB_SERVICE.value;
top.opener.document.getElementById("P3_DOMAIN").value = document.forms[0].P44_DOMAIN.value;
top.opener.document.getElementById("P3_DETAIL").value = document.forms[0].P44_DETAIL.value;
top.opener.document.getElementById("P3_SERVICE_DOMAIN_DETAIL").value = document.forms[0].P44_JOB_SERVICE.value + '|';
top.opener.document.getElementById("P3_SERVICE_DOMAIN_DETAIL").value = top.opener.document.getElementById("P3_SERVICE_DOMAIN_DETAIL").value + document.forms[0].P44_DOMAIN.value + '|';
top.opener.document.getElementById("P3_SERVICE_DOMAIN_DETAIL").value = top.opener.document.getElementById("P3_SERVICE_DOMAIN_DETAIL").value + document.forms[0].P44_DETAIL.value;
top.opener.document.getElementById("P3_JOB_TYPE_ID").value = document.forms[0].P44_JOB_TYPE_ID.value;
window.opener.doSubmit();
else
alert("Please complete all three fields");
</script>

Arie
I was not the original author and have since discovered the problem was that a button template was being used that called the generic action JavaScript and then closed the page afterwards. I've copied, modified and renamed this button template appropriately to provide the same functionality but without closure.
Cheers

  • Syntax Error In Javascript Popup Window

    I'm wondering if anybody can help me out here with a curious bit of code. I'm using GoLive 9 to generate Javascript popup windows. They seem to work fine, but when I check the syntax I get these errors:
    Line 22 Unexpected PCDATA
    Line 24 The Corresponding start tag is missing
    Specifically, it references this code:
    </script>
    //-->
    </script>
    But every time I try to delete or modify those lines I lose the link to my css file and can't link it back. Does anybody out there with a whole lot more brains than me have a solution? Remember, I'm stupid, so if you have a fix I'd appreciate it being explained as simply as possible. Thanks. BTW here's the entire code for the Javascript popup page below:

  • Open page in popup window using javascript:popupURL

    Hi, call a page in a popup window works fine using javascript:popupURL, but my question is
    Is it possible to specify height, width, pos x and y for the popup window?
    Thx in advance,

    Derlis,
    sure, but I guess you will have to write your own javascript function to do so:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function myPopupURL(url)
      w = open(url,"winLov","Scrollbars=1,left=0,top=0,resizable=1,left=0,top=0,width=500,height=200");
      if (w.opener == null) w.opener = self;
      w.focus();
    </script>
    &lt;A href=&quot;javascript:myPopupURL('http://otn.oracle.com')&quot;&gt;OTN&lt;/A&gt;Best you put the javascript into the page header or page template header.
    You could even pass the parameters with each call to the javascript function as parameters.
    ~Dietmar.

  • Developer question. Upgraded to 6.0 - javascript:window.close() no longer works. Works OK in other browsers. Banners on popup windows also seem confusing.

    Popup windows no longer close using javascript:window.close(). Have to click the "X" to close the popup.

    I was able to fix the issue here. Steps Taken:  From the comand line I ran
    dscl /Search read /Users/jdoe HomeDirectory
    It returned # No such key: HomeDirectory
    This was the big clue.... it should have returned
    HomeDirectory: <home_dir><url>afp://files.hihllc.lan/Users/jdoe</url><path>/</path></home_dir>
    I unbound the Mac from AD and ran the following command in terminal.
    dscacheutil -flushcache
    I then went into OS X sharing preferences and renamed the computer slightly, so it would create a new computer record in AD. I rebound the machine to AD making sure in Directory Utility Advanced, under User Experience that Force local home directory on start up disk was unchecked and Network protocol to be used was AFP.
    I then ran
    dscl /Search read /Users/jdoe HomeDirectory
    and it returned
    HomeDirectory: <home_dir><url>afp://files.hihllc.lan/Users/jdoe</url><path>/</path></home_dir>
    I had the user reboot... which was necessary. When he logged in HomeSync fired up. He had quite a few conflicts, so I told him to select use files on this computer for all conflicts.
    I checked the FileSyncAgent.logs and it was good.
    Let me know if this fixes your issue.
    Thanks,
    Ray

  • Javascript/html question about popup window title

    I am displaying an uploaded pdf file using wpg_docload.download_file in a popup window (using javascript open).
    How can I change the title of this popup window.

    Thanks to Jes (John Scott at shellprompt.net) for a solution for my version of this problem; set the Content-Disposition in the HTTP header to indicate your required filename. Example:
    I have an 'On-Load - Before Header' process on the ApEx page I want to use 'host' my PDF document generator. The page is called from a popup JavaScript call, allowing us to rely on ApEx authorisation and authentication. The Source of this process looks like the following:
    declare
    myblob blob;
    begin
    -- Call procedure to gereate PDF document in a blob and pass it back
    myprocedure_to_generate_blob( in_parameter, in_parameter, myblob);
    owa_util.mime_header('application/pdf',false);
    htp.p('Content-Length: ;||dbms_lob.getlength(myblob));
    -- This line sets the filename (which could be dynamic)
    htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment;filename=mypdffile.pdf');
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    wpg_docload.download_file(myblob);
    -- Stop Apex from trying to render more of the page (we've finished)
    htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    end;

  • JavaScript Popup Window

    Hi, has anyone done an example where you are at a page, say Page1.jsp that has a text box and a button, when you click on the button a javascript popup window must open(Page2.jsp). Page2.jsp has a text box and a button. The user will enter a value in the text box and when they click the button it must close the popup window and populate the text box on Page1.jsp with the value entered on Page2.jsp.
    Is this possible in JSF, I have tried but it doesn't work. On the popup windoow botton I have javascript code that saves the value in the session, submits the parent page and then closes the popup window.
    On the parent page init, I look for the value saved in the session var and set the textbox's text to it. When I read the value of the text box, it is right but on the screen the value does not show up at all,
    Does anyone have any idea, I can't seem to understand at all what could be wrong here.

    Hi,
    You can use this code:
    1. in the parent form you have a button and a text field named "textCallClass".
    2. in the popup window you have listbox and a button.
    When the button on the popup window is clicked, the selected list item is returned.
    In you popup window, button on_click :
                        <script>
                            function handleOK() {
                                var myform      = document.forms[0];
                                var listControl = myform['form1:listboxID'];
                                var openerField = window.opener.document.getElementById("form1:textCallClass");
                                if (listControl.selectedIndex == -1) {
                                    alert ("Please select an item from the list !");
                                    return false;
                                else {
                                    openerField.value = listControl.options[listControl.selectedIndex].value;
                                    window.close();
                        </script>In the parent form, button on_click:
                            function handleCallClassPopup() {
                                window.open("CallClassLookup.jsp", "Lookup", "width=250,height=300");
                            }A better way is to use the SessionBean to store and retrieve the data.

  • Popup window with javascript in flash

    Hi everyone ;)
    I wonder if there´s available some code/tutorial which
    would make a "javascript call" and pop up what could bring some
    content into a new window in actionscript 3. I have a actionscript
    2 code for popup window but obviously it´s not working on my
    website project because of the wrong flash type :| So do you know
    how to make these kinds of pop up windows in as3?
    http://flashden.net/files/42875/index.html

    i am now down to only 1 error. How the script looks and the
    only error generated are below.
    on (release) {
    getURL("javascript:newWindow=
    window.open('
    http://websitemedia.net/playground/ferrioni/sandbox/ferrioniaddress.html','popper1',
    'width=425,height=300,scrollbars,resizable');
    newWindow.focus(); void(0);");
    error below:
    **Error** Symbol=contact, layer=Layer 1, frame=1:Line 5:
    String literal was not properly terminated
    newWindow.focus(); void(0);");

  • Javascript popup window for updatable report

    We have an updatable report and would like to have a pop-up window on one of the fields. What parameters do we pass to the pop-up so it can return the selected value to the correct row and column in the would report? What is the code in the pop-up to set the correct row/column in the updatable report?
    We are familiar with the process for form elements, but not for updatable reports.

    Hello,
    YOu just have to save the current working form field as a variable. So the popup javascript would look something like this.
    var gReturnElement;
    function customPopUp(pThis){
    gReturnElement = html_CascadeUpTill(pThis,'TD').getElementsByTagName('INPUT')[0];
    /*popup code here*/
    Then from the popup window you would use something like
    function customSetValue(pText){
    window.opener.gReturnElement.value = pText
    window.close();
    Is there a specifc reason you can't use the built in ones? It would be much easier for you to mantain compared to custom code.

  • ?? about popup window using javascript

    I am launching a popup window using the following script.
    locate.onRelease = function(){
    getURL("javascript:n_name=window.open('
    http://www.wesitename.com/webpage.cfm','name_name1','width=720,height=330,scrollbars=yes') ;void(0);");
    Right now all of my links load in the same popup window...
    but if that window isn't closed for (instance if it was minimized)
    by the user... and the user clicks another link for this popup...
    it stays behind the main page rather than coming to the front
    again..
    My question is... Is there anyway to assure that this browser
    window comes to the front when updated with a new click???
    Thank you in advance

    YOu could change the name_name1 for each link to name_2 name3
    and so on.
    By using same window name you load content into the same
    window, using new
    name makes automatically totally new request and new pop up.

    If the BSP page is refrehed, all the user input it sent back to the server. If you don't do anything special, the input is lost and not sent back to the client again. You can go to your controller class' DO_HANDLE_DATA to read the user input, and store it in the controller class to send it back to the client.
    If you don't use controller classes, the equivalent would be onInputProcessing. A more advanced alternative would be to use MVC model binding, which would do most of the stuff automatically for you.

    Below is the javascript function for the button create
    function createNew()
    doSubmit('CREATE');
    alert('Successfully inserted the record. Click OK to close popup window and to \n view details of the new inserted record please select the table on parent window.');
    window.close();//close the popup window
    window.opener.doSubmit('REFRESH');
    //call doSubmit function on the parent window to cause the page to refresh.
    }The problem, i have is when i open up a popup window in this window when I click on the create button, its again opening up a new empty window. i don't understand what might be the problem.
    can you please help me out with this one.

    l_buffer.append("', 'lovWindow', {width:750, height:550},false,'dialog',null);");
    pageContext.putJavaScriptFunction("SomeName",l_buffer.toString());
    But here the problem is, even though popup window is there, i am able to do the actions on the parent page.
    So how to disable the parent page, while getting the popup window.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks
    Naga

    Hi,
    You can use javaScript for disabling parent window as well.
    Refer below link for the same:

  • RE: Getting multiple values from more than one multiple select popup window

    I have a button on a JSP of mine that when clicked creates a popup window (right now it is called popup.html) with a multiple select menu.
    My question is how do I get all the values selected from the menu into my JSP (sample.jsp) so that I can set each of the values for my bean.
    The other problem is that I have more than one select multiple menu.
    Please help if you can. Any advice or suggestions here would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

    I realize that I can use request.getParameterValues to get the values selected from my html because I am passing them to the hidden inputs I have and then using the request.getParameterValues to get each of the values.
    MY PROBLEM IS WHAT IF I HAVE 4 MULTIPLE SELECTS??? How can I use the same html popup menu to get the values from the 4 different multiple selects????
    I look forward to your response.
    This code is from my JSP:
    <INPUT TYPE="TEXT" NAME="Field1" SIZE="15">
    <INPUT TYPE="hidden" name="F1Rad1">
    <INPUT TYPE="hidden" name="Permission">
    <input type=button name=choice onClick="window.open('optionPicker.html','popuppage','width=250,height=100');" value="Options"></TD>
    Here is my optionPicker.html code for the pop up menu:
    <html>
    <head>
    <script language="JavaScript">
    function sendValue(s)
    var boxSize= s.options[0].value;
    var restrict     = s.options[1].value;
    window.opener.document.addNewForm.F1Rad1.value = boxSize;
    window.opener.document.addNewForm.Permission.value = restrict;
    window.close();
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <center>
    <form name=selectform>
    <select multiple name=selectmenu size="2">
    <option value="large">Large Text Input Area
    <option value="restrict">Restricted Access
    </select>
    <p></p>
    <input type=button value="Select Option(s) For Field" onClick="sendValue(this.form.selectmenu);">
    </form>
    </center>
    </body>
    </html>
