Javascript installation error fix
i found the problem!! and i think this is an important fix for everyone else who encounters not being able to update an app… getting a "javascript installation error". and i see that there are several.
i looked in the distribution.plist file with a text editor of the particular updater i was having a problem with, and noticed that it expected to encounter the original file on the top level of the applications folder.
which means that if you have moved the original installation into some other folder (which i had done, and thus a level down), it is going to encounter the javascript installation error.
so:
i moved the original installation back to the top level of "applications"… and voila! the updates now work like a charm!
wheeeeeeeee!
anyways, now *you too* can tell people how to fix the dreaded javascript installation error... it's actually really simple : -)

Help application update - fix for installation error
Some users are reporting installation errors when updating the Help application update -- if you are experiencing a similar issue, please follow these instructions:
Uninstall the previous version of Adobe Help
Windows: use the Add or remove Programs utitlity
Macintosh: Remove and trash the application from the Applications > Adobe folder
Delete the following directory:
Windows: %appdata%/chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1
Macintosh:USER NAME (home) > Library > Preferences > chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1

Software Update, 10.6.6 installation error!!
Hi all, hope someone can help.
I have a Mac Pro running 10.6.5. I upgraded to 10.6.5 recently and had problems with this. When using Software Update, it would download, log out and install only to get an error at the end saying it couldn't install, with no explanation of why. I did some investigation and it boiled down to Safari (one of the updates in the list to install along with 10.6.5) wasn't being replaced. I had to delete Safari from my applications folder before updating. I tried rebuilding permissions and even installed from the installers from the apple download page. but until I deleted Safari from my apps folder it would fail every time.
Since I assumed that it was a corrupt copy of safari and all other update went ok I assumed I had fixed the problem.
Now I'm trying to install the update of 10.6.6 via Software Update. and I'm getting the same problems. It downloads, reboots, installs then at the end says that it was not installed because of an error and promps me to restart.
I have downloaded the update and run it from the desktop and it goes through the install as follows:-
Installing
optimizing system
Moving files
installation failed.
It seems that it isn't able to replace existing files on my system with new ones therefore fails the install.
Has anyone got any ideas? I have repaired permissions with disk utility and tried repairing them while booting from the 10.6.3 system disc, still no joy
Many thanksWorse problem here. I get the installation error then the computer attempts to reboot and I get locked at the gray background apple screen. Tried safe boot power on +SHIFT a status bar comes up and goes 3/4 away across and locks. Running permissions repair from Mac OEM disk set was no help. Had to do a time machine restore. Seems my install error is catastrophic. On the upside time machine works very well.. A bit disappointed with my Windows-esque crash

Dear All,
I am new to this forum and I would like to inquire about the reasons behind a specific installation error of Oracle 11gR2 on Fedora 13 and the way to fix it. The error led to a weired behavior for the EM. I am going to explain everything precisely to flap the correspondence time so please please please bare with me.
I have followed precisely all the pre-requisites for preparing the installation environment (Fedora 13 Linux OS) by following the instructions in the manual that comes on the source installation Disk-1of Oracle 11g R2, like assigning the environment variables, setting kernel parameters, installation of all the required and necessary packages, creating the necessary directories and changing the owner ship, in addition to creation the user 'oracle' and the necessary groups. This installation ends up with a successful working database that can be accessed using sqlplus locally and remotely from another machine. My EM also worked but for a limited period of time for only about 10 to 15 min then after that I cannot access it due to a problem in the agent background process or daemon that is resulted from the error happened during the installation, and need to restart my machine. Here is what happened.
My installation is a stand alone database (database control / console database). Everything went smoothly during the installation except the following error that I couldn't get rid of or fix it, and I just continued the installation by clicking on the continue button of the OUI alert window. The error message on the alert window is:

Becuase of this error, the actual status of the database is not shown up in the EM. For example, if I try to startup my database through the EM, it starts successfully, but its status will not be shown, same thing happens for the listener. Clicking the View Details link in the EM after starting up the database shows up the following:

I have successfully installed Oracle 11g R2 after some manual intervention to solve this linker error.
The linker error actually gave the useful hint to solve this problem:

/usr/bin/ld: note: 'B_DestroyKeyObject' is defined in DSO /home/akos/app/akos/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib/libnnz11.so so try adding it to the linker command line
/home/akos/app/akos/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib/libnnz11.so: could not read symbols: Invalid operation
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
This means that the gcc linker phase lacked an option for "-lnnz11". I run "make agent nmhs" manually,
so the last command that gave an error can be copy&pasted to the command line. Adding "-lnnz11"
after "-lcore11" to the command made it run successfully, and also re-running "make agent nmhs"
on the command line didn't fail now. Then I chose the "Retry" button in the installer GUI and it proceeded.
This change in the Fedora 13 linker was announced at

In Fedora 12 and earlier it was allowed to an app with library A and the app was able to use symbols
from every other libraries (B, C, ...) that library A was linked with. In Fedora 13 this is not allowed anymore,
your app needs to be linked explicitely with library B, C, etc.
Later, there was another problem with SELinux not allowing text relocation in .../product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib/libclntsh.so.11.1
which was solved by running:
chcon -t textrel_shlib_t '.../product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/lib/libclntsh.so.11.1'
and re-running configuration of "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant". This allows keeping SELinux on.
After that, installation and setup of the first database succeeded on Fedora 13. -
ECC v6.0 installation error : CJS-30022 and FCO-00011
Hi All,
I enconter the while <u><b>installing ECC 6.0 in windows 2003 server and MSSQL 2005 as the database</b></u>. The error occurs during <u><b>import ABAP phase ( exactly the Job name was SAPSDIC and this is the first job out of 19)</b></u>
The same issue has been discussed in this forum but for oracle( Please find the link below for it)Kindly let me know how to fix it and since the database i am using it is SQL 2005 i am really confused on <u><b>what should i change exactly</b></u>.

I'm trying to install the new version, but each time during the installation, "Error writing to file: C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Apple/Mobile Device/Support/AppleMobileDeviceHelper.resources/Info.plist." Keeps popping up. What am I doing wrong?
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -

I just downloaded trial version of Adobe Flash CS4 (Englisth|Windows) but after unpacking the archive and starting setup.exe I am getting error msg (see att). Are there any error logs with more information??

Thanks for any help!There is no fix. Flash Pro is not compatible with Win 8 even in CS6. There are dependencies with Flash Player components and the way it's handled in Win 8 prevents it from working liek the app expects.

Fatal error during installation - Error 1603 ONLY on XP
My Dears,
while installing any CS3 or CS4 Adobe product for my friend, at ~90% of installation error comes up:
"Adobe Photoshop CS4
Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation."
I am struggling to solve it for 3 days now, and of corse I have seen and tryied all things proposed in posts like this: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/373577 , but still nothing helps me.
Thats list of all things that I have tryied to do:
- CleanUp fix
- Uninstalling all Adobe before fix
- Turning Internet off fix
- Turning anti-vir things off fix
- Registery fix
- Starting from CLEAN new system fix
- Changing language from US to International fix
Still nothing. Probably thats the point of problem:

Got ACER ASPIRE x3200 desktop width Windows Vista (preinstalled), did clean installation of Windows XP and dumped Vista
There is no official drivers for XP, but got cracked chipset driver and official nVidia 8200 driver for XP from Internet
Got all Service Packs
100% legal
If nothing is working, maybe thats becaouse of my PC?! Installed it on my laptop with Vista 32b - WORKS (it means that installation CD is not corruptet or something). But then I have tryied to install it on another laptop with XP PRO - fail as with my PC. It seems that Windows XP Pro is not good for CS3 or CS4, BUT it did months before in my old unbranded PC.
Help! I really want to install that stuff.

Adobe and other software makers are moving on from XP in their development. Thus XP becomes more and more troublesome to use as the likelihood of problems increases.
In the case of installation, a lot of very specific things are required of an installer so that it can work on Windows 7. The User Account Control (UAC) system and other security measures such as file permissions have to be completely and properly satisfied to install software on the newer systems. Indeed, the application itself even has to work differently to be compliant - reference the recent 12.0.2 issues with loading scanner drivers for example, or the fact that Photoshop needs to put some things under C:\Users\... now that always used to be put under C:\Program Files\Adobe\...
It's not hard to imagine that Adobe isn't testing software as thoroughly on XP as they once did either. Perhaps they missed one of the quirks of XP in pursuit of getting it to install properly on Windows 7.
You're putting a new cutting edge software application on an operating system designed nearly 10 years ago (an epoch in high tech). That you don't see even more problems is a testament to Adobe's committment to support XP.

Installation Error: Cannot Install Photoshop
I get the following error when I attempt to install Adobe Photoshop CS4.

I can't figure out why it won't let me install it.
My 32 bit box is running Vista Home Premium with 2 gig of ram and and a dual core processor, at 1.7 GHz each. I also am having trouble with Dreamweaver. I installed it but it gives me an error stating 'Licensing for this product has stopped working'. Error: 147:20. How do I fix that? I'm just trying to install the trial...Okay I got it to install but I am getting this message about not having having VersionCue.DLL installed. I don't have it in the directory it's specifying, but I can't seem to find it online either. If can run my adobe programs just fine, but when I try to go to like my ITunes or My Downloads, it gives me this message.
Any ideas how I can fix it? I really don't want to uninstall everything. I have already done that so many times. I read an article written by Adobe that said essentially they don't know what the crap is goin on. Which I found real reassuring. -
I have been receiving this error trying to install SQL Server 2012. Initially I already had SQL Server 2012 on my machine and attempted to install BIDS 2008. My IT guy stated that there was a conflict in the installation and suggested that I uninstall SQL
Server 2012 and then attempt to install 2008 BIDs again. Fail. I got a similar error as I pasted below. Giving up on having 2008 BIDS I've been trying to reinstall 2012 SQL Server but am getting this message below.

HRESULT: 0x80073712 means ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT, and it is one of the error codes listed at this
KB article.
I suggest you run the System Update Readiness tool and check if the error still persists.

JavaScript Runtime Errors in init.debug.js
I have a custom branding solution for a SharePoint 2013 site collection in Visual Studio. When I navigate the site collection or debug the solution, I seemingly randomly get Unhandled Exceptions in the /_layouts/15/init.debug.js. It's rather

The error occurs in NotifyScriptLoadedAndExecuteWaitingJobs in init.debug.js, and the call stack goes back to DeltaManager$_ScriptLoader in start.debug.js and eventually to the browserHandler, ScriptResource.axd.
init.debug.js, correct me if I'm wrong please, is a JavaScript that SharePoint adds during debugging. If I go in the hive and add that ')' where it breaks, then everything breaks. Why is this error thrown, and what is the rev parameter at the
end of the query string?
The custom master page in the solution being installed has a line:

I added ScriptMode="Debug", and the errors occur during debugging. I changed it to ScriptMode="Release", and still got the same errors.
I'm not sure if and where in the code things are breaking, but I'm having trouble understanding why SharePoint, Visual Studio, and Internet Explorer behave in this manner. -

I ran into the same error numerous times installing Office 2010 on Vista where machine.config was not found. Specifically:
Error 25541. Failed to open XML file
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\machine.config, system error: -2147024786
Setup failed. Rolling back
I tried both approaches above and neither worked.
My final solution was simple: there was a file in the directory called machine.config.default. In a DOS box I copied that file to create machine.config.
The office 2010 install worked fine after that "fix".
If that’s cannot solve your problem, you can try to check the integrity of .NET Framework 4.0 on your system:

Installation error code 203 Firefox eBay Companion
I keep getting installation error 203 when I try to install the Mozilla Firefox eBay companion. Does anybody know how to fix this?
Well, you don't say exactly what it is you want to do on eBay nor why you want the Firefox eBay Companion but visiting the Firefox eBay Companion site it notes "firefox companion for ebay is not compatible with firefox 3.0 beta2". You may be running Firefox 3 and if so, try to find a copy of Firefox 2.0 instead.
Let me take a moment here to try and help you out. If you are a seller then you'll want either GarageSale or iSale. I bought both and find GarageSale a far better and easier OS X program to use. And it does an amazing job. It is easy to create a beautiful auction, to publish it directly on eBay and to monitor your auction as it runs. The eBay costs from cost of full listing to shipping, tax, and other options are all there for you.

When I have had a previous version of Olympus installed I seem to remember a Visual C++ error which led me to uninstall and attempt to re-install. Since all had been working fine I assume cause is a Windows update but no idea how to repair.

Do you find a log file for the installation that provide more details for this error? 1603 doesn't say much except that the installation failed. Maybe there is some more info in the Windows event log?
It could be a problem with the Visual C++ redistributable if there was an error related to that.
