Javascript Issues + Cannot Load Websites

Hi everyone. After updating to 10.5.8, Safari has been having issues regarding Javascript and loading particular websites.
When I try to load certain pages, it says Javascript is disabled. However, in the preferences, Javascript and Java are both enabled. I would also like to note that the same problem has been occurring in Firefox. Both browsers are updated to the most recent build. In addition, I have run Software Update to update Javascript. It has not fixed the problem. I have tried an iMac and another Macbook Pro that has all the same updates and neither had problems with loading websites or Javascript errors.
NoScript and Adblock Plus including all other add-ons are disabled in Firefox. I tried removing Firefox and all user profiles and reinstalled. The same problems exist. I have not done the same with Safari, but I don't think that will solve these problems.
I'm starting to think this issue has to do more than the browsers, perhaps a problem with Javascript in Mac OS?
Any feedback or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

HI,
Try resetting Safari. From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset. If that doesn't help...
Maybe maintenance will help. Mac OS X: How to force background maintenance tasks (logs and temporary items)
Also, you tried really good trouble shooting from Klaus1 (he's good)... http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10040439#10040439
Have you tried performing an Archive and Install? Might fix the glitch instead of investing anymore time trouble shooting.

Firefox cannot load ANY websites, but IE can, even after I tried all the ideas in the current articles on this topic as of March 10, 2011!
One day it was fine, and the next day it stopped working! I have tried everything suggested under the topic "Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can."

You should e able to install FlashPlayer separately on IE and Firefox. So you may use Flash 11.3 on IE and 11.2 or 10.3 on Firefox.
Work from the administrator account. First of all sort out Firefox, use the Adobe uninstaller to uninstall Flash before reinstalling 11.2 Afterwards check that IE is ok, the Uninstaller may have changed that so you may need to reinstall Flash on IE.
    * see instructions in [[flash 11.3 crashes]]
You are apparently using an outdated Firefox 8. That is not secure you should update to the latest Release Firefox 13 (or within a day or so Firefox 14)
You may also encounter problems relating to use of RealPlayer software and that software may affect use of FlashPlayer 11.3
    * see also [[Fix problems with RealPlayer add-ons]]
    * a user ''blacksabath710'' recently posted a workaround in [/questions/931055] suggesting use of free software from http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/
    P.S.
When you finish set Firefox's FlashPlayer not to upgrade, and until this issue is resolved do not follow suggestions from Adobe, or Plugincheck etc. to upgrade Flash.
Use this test page form Adobe in each browser and account to check Flash is working ok
    * http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
The test page will display version information and error messages or a Flash animation to prove flash is working.

  • Firefox and other 32 bit programs cannot load websites intermittently

From time to time, perhaps once a day, firefox cannot load any websites for about 30 min to several hours. No error message is given, the page just continues to attempt to load. A similar thing occurs in thunderbird at this time as well as IE 8. However IE 8 64 bit operates without a problem.
I commplete all instruction in the support page "Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can", without sucess. I have also disabled all addons and puggins.

  • Firefox cannot load websites, but other programs can. Listed guide/faq not effective.

I went through the FAQ guide for firefox not loading webpages, but after having changed both boolean setting in the about:config section of the firefox advanced settings, deleting and re-adding it to the program permissions list in my firewall (mcafee antivirus 2011), and even attempting to completely disable the firewall for a period of time, I am still unable to browse the internet on firefox. Internet explorer, however, does work.

all website went "Not Found HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found." and the "Firefox cannot load websites but other programs can" page is not helping in any ways

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • ICloud Mail issues: "Cannot Load Mail" and "Cannot Get Mail"

I'm currently experiencing issues when trying to access iCloud Mail which is visible in two places:
      - on a iOS device (iPad and iPhone): when opening Mail.app and trying to check my iCloud Inbox:
"Cannot Get Mail" "The user name or password for 'iCloud' is incorrect."
       - on http://www.icloud.com: when clicking the Mail icon:
"Cannot Load Mail" "Help Apple improve iCloud by reporting this problem." [Reload] [Report to Apple] [Close Mail]
Oddly enough synching Contacts and Calendar items works fine on the iOS device (so username and password are obviously correct), and logging onto http://www.icloud.com using these credentials with use of all other application icons (Contacts, Calendar, Find my iPhone) seems to work also.
I created a "free" me.com account to enable "Find my iPhone" when iOS 4 was released (which doesn't include mail), and already had a Apple ID. Presumably these got merged now, maybe contributing to the issue?
iCloud is only available to me through the web or my iOS devices, I currently don't have Lion installed.
    Suggestions?

I am in the exact same boat:
I was a MobileMe subsciber who migrated to iCloud
MobileMe ID was [email protected]; Apple ID [email protected]
All iCloud services work as intended EXCEPT mail
I can access iCloud Mail by:
    Mail.app in Lion
When I access my iCloud mail on my iOS devices, I get "The user name or password for 'iCloud' is incorrect."  I know for a fact the password is correct, and all other services work.
When I access iCloud online, again all services EXCEPT mail work.  Here, I get the "Cannot Load Mail." message
Has anyone resolved this; or is this an Apple issue?  This is driving me crazy.

  • So cannot load websites that other programs can includes Mozillas help pages!!! my first issue was with Linked IN but now these help pages dont work either

I cannot log in to LINKED IN via firefox . however I can with IE8. why? also when I click teh Firefox wont open pages that other pbrowsers will I get a firfox cannot open the page message. I hope this is a joke!!! Hah hah

When this occurs it's usually because a proxy is set in the Network preference pane when one isn't needed or vice-versa.
Firefox uses its own proxy settings and as such doesn't rely on the settings in System Preferences.

  • Firefox cannot load websites like Pandora

I was listening to music on Pandora and it randomly stopped playing the song. When I tried to reload Pandora I get an error message that says "We're sorry but the site does not appear to be loading in your browser." It provides a link to a help page, but I could not find an answer that solved the issue there. Pandora still loads for me in IE. I updated Firefox and restarted my computer, but it still will not load.

  • Cannot load websites after updating to AVG2012

Ican't get any websites through firefox -error message says cannot find server.Internet Explorer is OK but slow.

Which beta version of Firefox 8 are you using?
The current version is [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html Firefox 8.0 b3] with buildID 20111011182523. If you use an older version then you should update via Help > About.
Also make sure that you allow Firefox in the firewall.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
