Javascript openDoc not working. All I get is a new window with about:blank in the address bar.
I have my resume posted in a website applitrack.com. I can upload PDFs. The PDF file shows up as a link and when I mouse over the link, the status bar shows javascript:openDoc('file', '18292'). When I click the link, I get a new window and "about:blank" in the address bar. This website works fine in IE (the PDF gets launched when I click the file link.
I tried disabling and uninstalling AdBlock Plus and that didn't help.
There have been reports of the PDF plugin not working correctly with Firefox 5.
It may help to change the setting for PDFs here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Applications
I think some people have had luck resetting their download actions as described in this article: http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions#Resetting_download_actions

when I typed in about:config in the address bar and hie enter, what appeared looked like a lot of files, pages of them, I didn't know where to right click from the menu select "New"

It is not recommended to change prefs in order to tweak some settings.<br />

ZS 2 not working, all I get is stat
I just bought an Audigy ZS 2 card and it isn't working at all.
I disabled my on board sound, uninstalled my onboard sound cards drivers etc (Nvidia 4 stuff) put the new card in, cancelled my windows installation, put in the CD, installed drivers, updated drivers online.
So I really don't know why it wouldn't work. All that comes out of the speakers is static and fuzzy noises. When I play any music if I turn up my speakers to full volume I can sort of hear it playing under all the static.
Anyone have any ideas?Hi Mike, no I have analog speakers Klipsch THx 5. speakers. If you go into THX console it will show you how to connect the speakers depending on you configuration. Just choose Speaker Selection and the graphic will change to reflect your configuration.

When we access a site,or receive email with pictures we often get a blue square with a question mark in it, no picture ?
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

I do not know how but vshare, has been performing a search everytime I type something in the address bar that is not a complete website i.e. facebook instead of facebook.com
this is very annoying and I am unable to uninstall vshare, I have even tried uninstalling firefox and reinstalling itI had this problem too, and just fixed it, and found a great website that helped.
1. In Firefox type about:config in the address bar and press ENTER.
2. Locate and double-click the entry for keyword.URL
3. Set the value based on which search provider you would like to use for your address bar searches. Here are a few search strings you can use.
Yahoo: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=
Ask: http://www.ask.com/web?q=

How can I get Firefox to include the http when copying and pasting from the address bar?
I know you can use "browser.urlbar.trimURLs" in about:config to re-enable the display of "http://" on URLs in the address bar, but I think there's an actual bug with hiding them in the address bar that should be corrected:
When I click and drag in the address bar to select part of an address, including the beginning of the address, then use CTRL+C to copy it, and CTRL+V to paste it into something else, the pasted URL does not include "http://"; this is often inconvenient and will break in certain forms and so on.
In Chrome--where I guess the http-hiding feature was copied from--if you click and drag to select part of the URL including the beginning, then copy, when you paste, the "http://," hidden in their address bar, *is* included. That's how it *should* work. Firefox's implementation is incomplete and frustrating.This is a known problem and should be fixed in Firefox 8.<br>

When changing "browser.newtab.url" is there any way to prevent the address bar from getting focus?
When I change "browser.newtab.url" to about:home and open a new tab, focus is set to the address bar not the search box on the firefox home page. The same thing happens if i change the url to google.com or another search engine. Is there any way to prevent this from happening.
Custom new Tab has a small bug if the start page is exactly the same as the new tab page. Then the focus of the start page is on the address bar. Just leave the "www." out in the startpage and use "www." in the new tab page then it works perfectly. e.g.
Startpage: google.com
new Tab page : www.google.com
Now the focus of the start page is on the search box. -
I recently moved all my logic audio sessions to a back up hard disk. Also updated to Loin OSX. My Stylus RMX is not working. I get a message Missing Element on Part 1...Currently not installed on their computer or has been moved to a different folder. Any help out there?

Is RMX fully updated (for Lion)?
Check your hard drives for a file called SAGE:
It (or an alias of it) is normally found in the <USER>:Library:Application Support:Spectrasonics.
Note that on Lion, the <User> Library is 'hidden'... quickest way to get there is to hold down Option (Alt) whilst using the Finder:Go menu

Links that open a new window with javascript:void(null); do not work in 3.1
I've been noticing that any site I go to that opens content in a new window with "javascript:void(null);" will be ignored by Safari 3.1. The links work in Firefox and used to work in Safari as well. Any suggestions?
General rule of thumb in the Mac universe...
When Safari is updated most if not all third party add-ons break. That's because most don't play by the rules. The developer thinks they know how to do it better than Apple so they just do it their way. So the first rule of survival is to KNOW what you have installed on your machine at all times. Use something like textedit to create a document listing all of the third party stuff you have installed and religiously update the list. Second rule is to wait a few days before applying an update. Third rule is to visit your third party developers' sites and make sure their little gadget is compatible with the new Safari update.
Being aware of things will make life much easier for you in the long run. -

Buttons not working, all of a sudden?
Nothing has changed, no editing was done, and all of a sudden, buttons not working. I trued exporting from Flash again, with the same pblish settings. Bit Action Script seems to give me a message now saying it wont export as a button. Tried AS 2.0 and 3.0, but i made original files in 3.0
