JavaScript Tools Guide CS6 PDF

I've found that the JavaScript Tools Guide CS6 PDF is not available for download from the Adobe website. It is only available as part of the ExtendScript Toolkit CS6 (ESTK 3.8).
ESTK 3.8 is not available for download from the Adobe website either, but is included in all Adobe CS6 products.
If you have an Adobe CS6 product installed on Windows, the JavaScript Tools Guide CS6 PDF can be found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Utilities - CS6\ExtendScript Toolkit CS6\SDK\JavaScript Tools Guide CS6.pdf

Thanks Todd, so posting the actual PDF documents themselves would not be allowed then? I ask only because the JavaScript Tools Guide CC.pdf does not have a link online. Search results return only for the JavaScript Tools Guide CS5.pdf

  • Where do I find the JavaScript Tools Guide

I’m fairly new to Adobe scripting.  I just downloaded the Photoshop 2014 CC JavaScript Reference,
and in describing ExtendScript’s features, it includes the line,
For details of these and additional features, see the JavaScript Tools Guide,
which it says is installed with Adobe CC at
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities\ExtendScript Toolkit CC 2014\SDK.
It wasn’t there — there’s no such folder on my system. The Javascript Reference goes on to say,
The latest versions of this document and of the ExtendScript Tookit,
can also be downloaded from Adobe Developer Center,
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/.
I followed the above link to the Developer Center, and I couldn’t find it there either.
Where can I find a copy of the latest JavaScript Tools Guide?

  • Document JavaScript tool is missing

    Hello
I've found this old discussion (see below) - seems like it never came to a solution.
I have the same problem. I can't find the Document JavaScript tool in my Acrobat Pro X. It should be in the Tools menu. But this is all there is:
The installed version on my computer is 10.1.3.
    Thank you in advance
    Advanced Menu Option Missing
    This question is Not Answered.
    Nov 3, 2011 11:02 AM
Adobe Acrobat X Pro was recently installed on my pc. I noticed some menu options are either missing or have moved and I can't find them. I am specifically looking for the Advanced menu option. I have searched Adobe Forums as well as the internet and haven't found a concrete answer.
Ultimately, I would like to create a date text field, using JavaScript, that will auto-display the current date. I technically know absolutely nothing about JavaScript but managed to find some information online. According to the Acrobat 6 Javascript Scripting Guide, the directions say to choose Advanced > JavaScript > Document JavaScripts to add a script. How do I do this in X?
    Thank you.

Open the "Forms" category and you will find additional options for form processing. You will have create a form or be editing a PDF form to get the Tool Well to change to show the forms task. Once in the  Forms task, "Other Task" will appear and within that set of tasks is the "Document JavaScripts..." option.

  • Bridge CS3 JavaScript Reference Guide?

Approximately two years ago I downloaded the Bridge JavaScript Reference Guide for CS2 as a PDF file (3.5 MB) from Adobe's website. Now I am looking for the respective scripting reference for Bridge CS3---but I cannot find one. I found several User Manuals and Reference Guides for Photoshop CS3, Version Cue CS3 Client and Server and the like ... but no scripting reference for Bridge CS3.
Obviously the old scripting reference for Bridge 1.0 still is useful ... but there sure are a few changes/improvements/extensions, aren't there? Does someone have an ides where to find Bridge CS3's scripting reference?

    Olaf,
The new scripting docs are part of the Bridge CS3 SDK:

  • Why is the brush tool in Illustrator CC inferior to the brush tool in CS6? It has less control of fidelity and smoothness. It is terrible - and I'm an illustrator. Can I use the CS6 brush engin in CC?

I loved the brush tool in CS6 Illustrator- by turning fidelity to the lowest setting, and smoothness down to zero, pumping up pressure sensitivity, it accurately reproduced the fine shapes of a drawn stroke. I'm an illustrator, so I don't want artificially smoothed curves, I want the line I drew.
This works really well with my Wacom Cintiq tablet... but now CC has removed this level of customisation for the brush tool. WHY? The program is called Illustrator, and as an illustrator, I can tell you having an accurate and finely adjustable brush engine to illustrate with is very important to me and to lots of other people who can draw, and draw for a living.
Now you get this dumbed down control panel when you double click on the brush tool icon- just one slider, with only 4 steps from 'accurate' (not very) to 'smooth' (almost indistiguishable from 'accurate')... it is like I have contracted a nerve disease - I draw a line, and it forms into something quite different to the path my pen took. WHY? Can I get rid of this rubbish engine? Trying the blob brush - what is the point of this brush? It is just like the old brush, except for a cursor that shows the largest size for pressure sensitivity... and it has the same crude 4 step smooth/accurate adjuster, that doesn't change the line much at all. I have the latest driver in my Cintiq, so I don't think that is the issue, and CS6 works better than CC.
I am very disappointed, Adobe. Do I have to go back to CS6 for all my Illustration work? Please improve the CC brush tool controls.
I am still reeling from Adobe's quiet removal of a whole tool: Inverse Kinematics/Bone tool from Flash CC JUST when I was finally using it to animate, but that's another story.
Honestly, having use them for a while, Photoshop,
Illlustrator, InDesign and Flash CC are, as far as I can tell, no step up at all from CS6, except that you have to pay for them forever.

More on this, now becoming known as the CC pencil tool fiasco, on these fora:
Re: PLEASE PLEASE adobe. The new pencil tool has become unusuble to me
Re: Changing line fidelity with CS6 Brush Tool
Re: All pressure sensitive brush presets gone!
If you are affected by the lower accuracy controls for CC's brush or pencil tools, use this Bug report/Feature request form to let the folks at Adobe know- they are actually hopefully going to fix this.......
thanks to Daniel for setting this up:
hey all, if you are going to file a bug report (as per Neeraj's suggestion), i've made up a draft to make the process easier.  feel free to adjust it as much as you want, obviously; trying to equip us busy folk.
Obviously customer service & product development are two different departments, so if you're bummin out on the new functionality, submit a bug report!

    ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
I was told to by Neeraj N(staff) to report this issue based on this link : (http://forums.adobe.com/message/6065706).
The Pencil / Brush tools have lost essential functionality with the addition of the new accurate / smooth adjustment preset. Users are no longer able to specify high-accuracy pen mapping, as the finest accuracy setting is now set to 2.5px (legacy versions allowed accuracy to .5px).
I would think adding additional slider nodes to allow more accurate mapping (while still using the accurate / smooth preset) allow for a minimal change in programming with a maximum return for power users.
    Steps to reproduce bug:
    1. open illustrator
    2. use either pencil or brush tool.
    3. draw erratic and high detail shapes
Results: shapes are smoothed to 2.5px smoothness, even when the accurate / smooth adjustment preset is set to full accuracy.
Expected results: shapes have minimal / no smoothing to maintain the integrity of the artwork.
    Thank you for your consideration.

  • Acrobat 9.5 - use Touchup text Tool to edit PDF. Updates do not display. But, if I "save as" Word doc, the edits appear in Word. This feature worked in earlier versions of 9.x patches.

I have a suspicion you're working with a scanned document that has had OCR run to recognize the text. The recognized text may be stored on an invisible layer above the image of the text, and that is what you're toucing up. It's invisible, so you don't see it, but retains the changes, so exporting produces the new edits.
When you run OCR to recognize scanned text,, try using the ClearScan option, instead of Searchable Text. See this help page on Acrobat (this is for version X, but still applies):

  • [JS,CS3/4] ANN: JavaScript Reference Guide

Looking for the JavaScript Reference Guide for CS3 or CS4? Adobe no longer offers separately downloadable documents, as they did for previous versions; instead, it's all integrated in the ExtendScript Toolkit Editor. Just look under 'Help', then choose a program. Not using the ESTK? Or perhaps you just want a prettier display ... :-)
So I reformatted the reference guides into fancy HTML, and I was even able to wring some additional information out of it, such as more comprehensive hyperlinks, a full index, and -- the best feature! -- a visual Hierarchy of each object and its place in the application.
The HTML version works with any web browser, but full text searching may be difficult. Windows users are advised to download the CHM (Compiled HTML) version, which offers free full text search, as well as a comprehensive Table of Contents and an index.
    Available for CS3 and CS4, from http://www.jongware.com/idjshelp.html
"You can copy it but you cannot top it."

There is no limit of improvement, isn’t it?
I'm rapidly approaching the limits of XSLT. I thought it a good idea to insert both JS Base guide and ScripyUI into the main reference guide. Unfortunatly, when I did, generating the links, contents, and index broke spectacularly. So I decided to cheat and just paste the XML source files together. Now some objects are duplicated, courtesy of the ScriptUI (Window, Button, Panel .. maybe some more). I decided to just append "(SUI)" to those names.
Fortunately, there are two enhancements to be savoured as well:
A version number :-) It's at the bottom left of each page
The 'any' classifier is now written out in full, with the acceptable values. For example, "Swatch merge (with: {Array of Swatches | Swatch | String} )" instead of just "(with:any)"
The CS4/CHM version on the web page is updated; the HTML version will follow some time later.
[Edit] It's now some time later, the CS4 HTML version is updated, and the CHM version as well. The version number has gone from 2.1 to 2.1.1 because of a few boo-boos and slightly more links.

  • ???quick selection tool in CS6 PS???

Suddenly, it's not possible to select two-color object with the quick selection tool in CS6 PS. Only the outline is selected. Forced to go into the brush tool and manually select the whole object, or select by color only which creates it's own problems. Magic wand will only select the interior of the object, or the outline only, not the entire object. Where are the settings to disable this unfortunate development?

Are you running a RGB image?
To reset tool have it selected and right click on icon in upper left corner.

Adobe Designer 7.1 uses XFA 2.4
If you can upgrade to Adobe desinger 8.2 to be abel to use XFA 2.8 you can code in the following way:
Write the following code in the preSave method
    if (do_not_save_condition == 1) then
      xfa.event.cancelAction = 1
    endif
    Adobe Quote
cancelAction specifies whether to cancel a forthcoming action.
This property applies only to the following scripting events: prePrint, preSubmit, preExecute, preOpen, and preSign.
The user experience is determined by the scripting event that contains the cancelAction reference:
u2022  preOpen - The drop-down list does not expand to display the list of values.
u2022  preSubmit - Form submission does not occur.
u2022  preSign - The form is not digitally signed.
u2022  prePrint - No print dialog boxappears, and the form is not printed.
u2022  preSave The form is not saved. The user experience is that no action occurred.

Using this, the save button will still be visible but, you can prevent the form from being saved.

  • Using the rotate tool in CS6

    Hi,
I am trying to use the rotate tool in CS6, I have created a petal, I then use the rotate tool to reposition the axis rotation pint, then when I double click to bring up the dialog box or if i go Object>Transform>Rotate the Axis point shifts back to the centre of the petal.
I can only assume that this is a bug.
    Any help please
    Many thanks

Pleased to be of assistance :-)
By the way, double-click on the Rotate tool will rotate the object around its centre via the dialogue box.
    Maybe that was confusing you.

  • Acrobat DC upgrade breaks CS6 PDF export?

Installed Acrobat DC and now my CS6 PDF export function is greyed out. Happens with old and new files. CC 2014 works fine. CS6 has been working fine yesterday up until the point I installed Acrobat DC. Anyone else have this issue? I still have clients who insist on CS6 so this is sort of a pain.
Working on a new Mac Pro.
I asked this over on the Acrobat forum but they said the two issues should not be involved.

There's nothing that an Acrobat installation could do that would affect InDesign functions.
@Steve – I have seen one case where a not finished (stuck) installation process of Acrobat Pro CS6 on Windows removed all default PDF export joboptions files for InDesign CS6 as well. However, something more drastic like a grayed out export function in InDesign CS6 seems not to be realistic.
I'm glad it was false alarm.

  • How do I select a square brush for the brush tool in CS6?  Sorry if this is a simple question, but nothing has ever been simple for me in Photoshop.

How do I select a square brush for the brush tool in CS6?  Sorry if this is a simple question, but nothing has ever been simple for me in Photoshop.

I don't believe there is a square brush among the sets that ship with Photoshop, but there are plenty to download, and it is super easy to make one.
Just drag with the rectangular Marquee tool, fill with black on a new layer, and go Edit > Define brush preset
