Javax.jws.WebService.portName() class not found
Hi there,
I am running OC4J Version 10.1.3.4.0.
Upon trying to deploy a web service .WAR file (JAX-WS 2.1, JAXB 2.1) got this error:
"Operation failed with error: WSSERVLET11: failed to parse runtime descriptor: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.jws.WebService.portName()Ljava/lang/String;"
Is there a way to make OC4J to reference these new versions of web services, rather than utilizing what is loaded at the boot time?
Thanks in advance,
ws-girl
hmmm... i had a look and it seems that what you are trying to "import" is actually in a package... instead of import try:
package javax.servlet.jsp;you may need to go download this "package" and complile it in the directory you are working in.
my advice: try the above statement (which does compile for me), if it doesn't work, you will need to find the source code for this package and compile it just like you do any other source code.
hope this helps.

Error in compiling: file javax\servlet\jsp\PageContext.class not found
Hi,
i'm getting an error when I'm trying to compile an java file. The error is as follows:
cannot access javax.servlet.jsp.PageContext
file javax\servlet\jsp\PageContext.class not found
Isn't the javax package included in jdk? I've installed jdk 1.3.1_03 and j2re1.4.0_02. Shouldn't this PageContext.class be automatically loaded when i've installed jdk?
I'm getting desperated! I've tried almost everything: i've changed the classpath, moved the directory of the java file I'm trying to compile over and over but i'm getting no success!
Any help is very welcome!

I have Windows XP
[email protected]try compiling like this:
java -cp "." myTest
This is not compiling, here you execute the already
compiled myTest.java file (or it should be already
compiled). To compile you may want to use javac or any
other available compiler.Oops, sorry, I didn't mean compiling.
If you were able to compile ok, you can try running the program by using:
java -cp "." myTest
This usually will solve the problem when your program comples fine but can't find the class when you try to run it. It's almost like the compiler assumes to look in the current directory but the VM (java.exe) doesn't make this assumption. -
Class not found javax.swing.JLabel
Hello,
I'm using JDK 1.3.0 and now I tried the first time to include Swing components into my Applet. When I compile the coding there are no errors and even when I use a standard coding example I always get the "class not found error message" for the swing component. When I don't use swing components I don't get any error message and the applet is loaded properly.
Do I have to trigger the applet in the html coding in a different way or can anybody give me a hint on that?
JensI also imported the swing classes, but the error pops up either...

Hi,
I am new to WS. I was trying the helloworld WS. I compiled and generated the atrifacts using the apt command. Then I was trying to generate the WSDL using wsgen.

Also if you can give me any good url that will help me in learning WebServices, that would be fantastic.

kkHi All,
I ran into the same problem and it took me two days of trials and errors. I don't how different is your problem from mine but when I ran wsgen from the same directory as my source code, it gave me this error. Since my package was called, "hello", I ran the wsgen -cp . hello.CircleFunctions from WEB-INF\src and that worked but it will not build from my WEB-INF\src\hello folder. -
Class not Found when accessing Proxy class from backing bean in VC.
Hi All,
I'm attempting to access a class of a webservice(generated as a proxy) within my ADF application and invoke the method within a backing bean of the View Controller(bean scope : backing bean). The proxy has generated an ObjectFactory class among other classes. When I access this Object factory class from within the backing bean, the application throws a Class not found error.
I don't know where the error lies since I've declared the View Controller of the ADF application dependent on the Proxy and I've imported the class and accessing it within a backing bean. How would you suggest I approach resolveing this.
JDev : 1.1.1.4
Thank you.

PP.Hello Arun,
Thank you for suggesting a Data control, but my requirement isn't to drag and drop the method as a button. It's more of a behind the scnes updating data via a database adapter requirement.
I've resolved the issue. turns out, my deployment archive didn't include the proxy.jpr. Once included it works likea charm.
Thanks

Class not found exception XMLGregorianCalendarImpl* in PI 7.0
Hello Experts,
I have written java Class where used the following package and Class in PI 7.1and it is working fine
import com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.datatype.XMLGregorianCalendarImpl;
//part of the Java Class code
XMLGregorianCalendarImpl XMLGenTime = new XMLGregorianCalendarImpl(gentime);
XMLGregorianCalendarImpl XMLExpTime = new XMLGregorianCalendarImpl(exptime);
but when I am trying to use the same Class XMLGregorianCalendarImpl in PI 7.0 I I am getting the runtime exception.
<Trace level="1" type="T">Class not found:

GregorianCalendar gentime = new GregorianCalendar();
GregorianCalendar exptime = new GregorianCalendar();

exptime.setTime(new Date(GenTime.getTime()+TicketTime));
XMLGregorianCalendarImpl XMLGenTime = new XMLGregorianCalendarImpl(gentime);
XMLGregorianCalendarImpl XMLExpTime = new XMLGregorianCalendarImpl(exptime);
I am getting the following error

XMLGregorianCalendarImpl XMLGenTime = new XMLGregorianCalendarImpl(gentime);
Kindly help me to solve this problem.
Thanks,
KubraI have found the solution.
The problem is solved by adding jaxp_api_1.3 jar and jaxp-ri-1.4.1.jar.we have to have both these jar in PI 7.0 to use com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.jaxp.datatype.XMLGregorianCalendarImpl package
Thanks

Class not found error for applet.
This is probally a really simple mistake but I've tried everything and can't find it.
My applet works fine with applet viewer - I'm running it from JBuilder. But when I open my html file in the browser it gives me a 'Class not found' error. I've tried running other applets (my own and demos on this site) and they work fine.This is the applet tag code:
<applet code = "Rotary.class" width = "650" height = "580" align = "top">
<!-- coordinates of sectors -->
<param name = "sector0" value ="234,215,244,207,154,43,125,63">
</applet>
The class file is in the same directory as the HTML file. Do I need to specify the codebase? I tried that too - giving it the full pathname of the class.
In the Java console it said that it couldn't find "C:Project\Rotary\javax\swing\japplet"
I don't think it could have anything to do with the fact that I'm using swing because the other applets I used used swing.
Please help - I'm really running out of ideas here!You have a similar problem like I had.
You seem to have a too old JAVA environment for the browser - I had a too new environment.
For all who are experiencing the same problem!
Problem:
You're compiling your applets with a quiet modern compiler (i.e. Netbeans Version 3.5.1)
You are able to compile your applets without any problems but if you try your applets in "real life", the browsers can't interpret your applets [class not found]. (I tested Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape Navigator 4.7)
So you need a plugin for the new JAVA environment because the JAVA environment of the browser is older than that which the applet needs.
Well, you have the choice to demand to every user of your applet to download the new Java Runtime Environment, but then don't wonder why nobody visits your site!
But, don't worry: I figuered out another solution, that Netbeans (www.netbeans.org) allows to compile in different JAVA versions.
Solution:
What you have to do is:
- Install a previous version of JDK (i.e. JDK 1.3 - I would suggest, lower versions don't work with Netbeans 3.5.1 and JDK 1.3 is enough for IE 6.0 and NN 4.7, which I tested)
- Go into the "bin"-directory of Netbeans (i.e. c:/netbeans3.5.1/bin)
- Open the file "ide.cfg" (with notepad or any other texteditor)
- You see a line like: jdkhome "C:\java\j2sdk1.4.2" -J-Xmx96m -J-Xss1024k -J-Xms24m -J-Xverify:none
- Change the path to your other JDK you wish, like: jdkhome "C:\java\jdk1.3" -J-Xmx96m -J-Xss1024k -J-Xms24m -J-Xverify:none
- That's it, you can compile your applets in a previous version of JAVA so that "older" browser user don't have to install a plugin for the new JAVA environment.
Have fun!
If you have any questions I would be pleased to help you.
If this tip helped you already I would be pleased if you would send me a quick email with your experience.

Class not found for class generated by autotype when deploy
I'm getting a ClassNotFoundException when I attempt to deploy a webservice that was originally generated from an XSD.
1) I create the stubs using "autotype" and the schemaFile attribute. Class files are generated and placed in the location specified by destDir.
2) I then run source2wsdd to generate the web-services.xml and WSDL files. source2wsdd specified the "javaSource" attribute and points to the java file the WebService is to call.
I also take all the generated JAVA classes and put it into a JAR file for step 3.
3) I run wspackage to create the EAR file. For "webAppClasses" I specify the class files that goes with the "javaSource" specified in step 2. I also take the JAR file created in step 2 (which contains all the code generated by step 1) and use "utilJars" to put in the the /lib directory of the war file.
4) When I deploy, I get a "class not found" for one of the classes that is in the utility jar file I created in step 2. I have verified that the jar file is in the "web-inf/lib" directory.
What am I not seeing that is causing WebLogic (WLS 8.0 SP2) to not find the class?
Thanks in advance...
WayneBruce: Got it working. (Bad news is I'm not sure what I did to fix it. :-( )
My service now deploys, but I'm having problems doing a "source2wsdd" from inside
Eclipse. Found another customer in this group with the same issue, and added my
info to his message.
For now I have to run the build outside Eclipse, but at least my service is deployable.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my message!

Java.rmi.UnmarshalException: skeleton class not found but required for clie
Hello everyone,
I am new to RMI and getting a strange exception. I am using Java 1.5.0_07 both on client and server. They are running on the same machine, the rmi registry is started inside the server application.
I am wondering why java complains about skeletons, I thought they are automatically created when using java 5.0?
Please have a look at the stacktrace below.
Thank you for your help.

Class not Found Exception while running an EJB
I have created and published a EJB in Oracle 8i (in a particular
schema) by running the deployejb tool supplied. The ejb was
published successfully. On running the client program I get an
error saying that the mybeans's HomeHelper class cannot be

Hello,
I am tring to deploy my struts web application in weblogic 8.1. I have all the

I can use javap to find the class using the same classpath. Could any one point
me some direction what I am doing wrong here.
Thanks.

ServletContext.java:3181)Hello Mark,
Your suggested solution (putting an empty commons-logging.properties into
web-inf/classes or in a jar in web-inf/lib)
does not make any change at all. It still complains about not being able to
preload the servlet and still
gives exceptions upong calling upon LogFactory.
What I have been able to do is put the three classes from
com.bea.wlw.netui.util.logging into a separate jar
and add that to web-inf/lib.
However I am sometimes getting funny exceptions upon undeploy
(NoClassDefFoundError for org.apache.commons.collection.FastHashMap$KeySet).

From a FAQ on netui:
1. Why do I get a ServletException while trying to deploy a struts web
application on a Workshop/Integration/Portal domain?
In the "<WL-HOME>/server/lib/knex.jar" file there is a properties file
called "commons-logging.properties" which configures the
com.bea.wlw.netui.util.logging.StrutsLogFactory class for Struts loggingas
below:
org.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory=com.bea.wlw.netui.util.logging.StrutsL
ogFactory
This class file is not available for a Struts web application that was not
built using Workshop, the reason being the containing NetUI jar files are
not present in the web application's WEB-INF/lib folder. This leads to a
ServletException while deploying the web application. The solution is toadd
a blank file (or a JAR containing the file) namedcommons-logging.properties
to the server CLASSPATH, or to the WEB-INF/lib folder of the concerned web
application. This issue will be fixed in Service Pack 2.
cheers

Hi Rob,
I also have a similar error with deploying a Struts web application into
a
8.1 Basic Workshop Domain created
by 8.1 Platform.
I get a ClassNotFoundException for 'com.wlw...StrutsLogFactory', whenStruts
tries to load any Jakarta class
from commons-beanutils or Struts which has logging.
This happens because commons-logging picks up some property whichinstructs
it to load that class, which is
naturally not included in most web applications, since it is
workshop-specific. This property definition, I think,
is in <bea>\weblogic81\server\knex.jar, called
commons-logging.properties,
containing the following line:
org.apache.commons.logging.LogFactory=com.bea.wlw.netui.util.logging.StrutsL
ogFactory
How can I override this in my webapp in a property file, so that when a
Struts or Beanutils class calls
LogFactory.getLog(org.apache.....<classname>.class), it would not try touse
the property file and the
class defined in knex.jar.
Thanks in advance,

Actually it complained about a NoClassDefFoundError. Generally this
is
caused by something in a parent classloader that is found but then
depends on something only loadable in a child classloader.
eg.
You have something in your $CLASSPATH that references something in the
WEB-INF/lib. This will NoClassDefFoundError.
So, as I recommended, remove everything you've added to the$CLASSPATH,
add the jars to WEB-INF/lib. If you're still having problems, show me
your $CLASSPATH, the contents of WEB-INF/lib, and the error message
/stack trace.

Hello, Rob,
I did put the common-beanutils and other jar files in the

directory.
And from the weblogic console, I do see the jar file get included in
the
classpath.
(those generated file name have some number attached at the end.)
As
I
mentioned
before, I can use javap find the class using this weblogic generatedclasspath.
But weblogic complained that the class is not found.

I have followed the tutorial on http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/10131/10131_ejb_30/ejb_30.htm to create my own EJB with Jdeveloper, but I got some errors. Please help.
When I run the client, it gave out the following errors:
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: buslogic.HRAppFacade not found
at com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIClientContext.lookup(RMIClientContext.java:52)
at javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(InitialContext.java:351)
at client.HRAppFacadeClient.main(HRAppFacadeClient.java:15)
Process exited with exit code 0.
I have created the entity and facade (with interface), but the client couldn't lookup the facade, giving out the above error. How to solve the problm? Thanks.

(my clue was the errors I got when starting imbedded OC4J)
This section of Departments.java should read as follows:
public class Departments implements Serializable {
@Id
@GeneratedValue(strategy=SEQUENCE, generator="DEPARTMENTS_SEQ")
@Column(name="DEPARTMENT_ID", nullable = false)
After fixing this, I ran a "make" of "HRApp", restarted the embedded OC4J server (terminate it, then right click HRAppFacadeBean.java, and click Run).
Then ran the application... -
I'm using OC4J 9.0.2.1 and JDeveloper 9.0.2 with Oracle db. I have a set of queues created in the database.
Before I try to send my request, I create an instance of the serializable object I want to send. I do all of my queue connection setup, then I call:
queueSession.createObjectMessage(request);
Where "queueSession" is a QueueSession obtained from "queueConnection.createQueueSession()".
When I step over this function call, I get the following:
