Javax.naming.AuthenticationException: No such domain/application:

I'm trying on JDeveloper 11g tutorial on "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces. I encounter this problem when try to run the simple java client created by Jdeveloper.

Anyone knows what's the cause of this error? I follow exactly the steps in Jdeveloper 11g tutorial. The only difference is that my database is MS SQL database.

Same error.
The real application (web and ejb's) are running on the same OC4J instance. The Web client are accessing the ejb's on port 3101, so i think this is the correct rmi port.
The server is a part of an infrastructure that are running on the same server, the server is one of two ApplicationServers that the infrastructure (farm) is controlling.
each server has an instance name, the server i was deplying to has name instance2. Maybe i have to give a reference to to the instance?

    Right - when signing on to the BPEL Console this error is most commonly the database not being up but you are not doing that. Besides, your error points to authentication.
    "Root exception is javax.naming.AuthenticationException"
    It might be the same issue as discussed in this thread.

  • JNDI lookup fails - No such domain/application

    Hi,
    I tried to perform a JNDI lookup from a stand alone Java client towards Oracle 9iAS version 9.0.3 and failed with the following error:
    javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: No such domain/application: mindejb; nested exception is:
         javax.naming.AuthenticationException: No such domain/application: mindejb
         java.lang.Object com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIContext.lookup(java.lang.String)
              RMIContext.java:134
         java.lang.Object javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(java.lang.String)
              InitialContext.java:345
         void Samplecom.mind.ejb.stubs.AccountComplexStubClient.main(java.lang.String[])
              AccountComplexStubClient.java:21
    Below, are the JNDI settings I am using. The application by the name mindejb was deployed and is accessible using server side JSP or servlets. When I use a stand alone OC4J, the same settings (different port) work fine!
    java.naming.factory.initial=com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory
    java.naming.provider.url=ormi://localhost:3101/mindejb
    java.naming.security.principal=admin
    java.naming.security.credentials=admin
    Thanks,
    Avi

    When you are running within an Oracle Application Server managed OC4J environment, then you should use the OPMN protocol loader we have that will insulate you from the specified ORMI port being used by OC4J.
    The OPMN port is fixed so you can always rely on it, whereas the specific ORMI port used by an OC4J instance changes depending on the startup sequence, the number of procs configured, etc.
    Here's a piece from the EJB documentation
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b15505/access.htm#i1019709
    Location
    All ports, including the RMI port, are dynamically set by OPMN when each OC4J instance starts. When you specify the following URL in the client JNDI properties, the client-side OC4J retrieves the dynamic ports for the instance, and chooses one from the list for communication.
    java.naming.provider.url= opmn:ormi://<opmn_host>:<opmn_port>:<oc4j_instance>/<application-name>
    The OPMN host name and port number is retrieved from the opmn.xml file. In most cases, OPMN is located on the same machine as the OC4J instance. However, you must specify the host name in case it is located on another machine. The OPMN port number is optional; if excluded, the default is port 6003. The OPMN port is specified in opmn.xml.
    cheers

    javax.naming.AuthenticationException. Root exception is
    java.lang.SecurityException: attempting to add an object which is not

    The cause of your problem is having JAAS explicitly in your classpath.
    It somehow messes up authentication to WebLogic. Remove it and your

    Bye!

    gday WhiteSox --
    You don't say how you are creating the new container -- is this standalone where you've extracted it to another directory and munged the ports, or in an OracleAS instalallation where you created a new instance?
    What are you using to perform the deployment operation?
    If you post some more details, we can try and help.
    cheers

  • Root exception is javax.naming.AuthenticationException: Not authorized

    Hi :
    I am trying to access an EJB (OC4j Container ) thru a thick client which is running on the same machine but outside the container.
    My code to access the ejb is as follows:
    Properties props = new Properties();
         props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY
         , "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
         props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://localhost:23791/Sample");
         props.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "sample");
         props.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "demo");
              InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext(props);
              System.out.println("Initial Context"+initialContext);
              System.out.println("EjbNames.USER_HOME.getJndiName()"+EjbNames.USER_HOME.getJndiName());//EjbNames is an enum.Which returns jndi name of the specific ejb.)
    I have also modified to system-jazn-data.xml as follows:
    <application>
              <name>Sample</name>
              <login-modules>
                   <login-module>

    You should be able to get the MBeanHome with the Helper class if the system
    username, pwd are correct.
    unless you have put some ACLs on MBeans and restricted the access for some
    specific users....
    Are you sure that your system user's password is: "password" ?
    I wrote a small prog to check the method and it returns the mbeanHome
    correctly ....
    I have attached it below ....
    hope it helps,

  • Quartz in OC4J: javax.naming.NamingException

    We are running Quartz inside OC4J.
    We start OC4J with -userThreads turned on (e.g. java -jar oc4j.jar -userThreads).
    When the Quartz Job fires we do a Context lookup from the inside the Quartz execute() method to find a JMS QueueConnectionFactory and a JMS Queue.
    We are getting the following error on the Context lookup:

    Any ideas?
    Thanks, Ed

    Avi
    I tried the default Context factory as you suggested and that didn't work either. I think the problem is related to the fact that Quartz is running on it's own thread within the same JVM as OC4J and may not have scope to the same Context object(s) that OC4J has.
    I did find a way to make this work. Before calling the Quartz Scheduler I used the OC4J Context object to lookup a JMS Queue and put the JMS QueueSender object into the Quartz JobDataMap object. I then scheduled the Quartz timer passing in the JobDataMap object. When the timer fires and my Quartz Job execute() method is called I retrieve the JMS QueueSender object from the JobDataMap and use it to send a JMS message.
    Thanks for your help,
    Ed

    Greetings,
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException. Root exception is
    org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound
    =================
    Below is the line of my LoginServlet class which is
    referred to in the stack trace - Object object =
    context.lookup
                        ( "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" );The root of the naming context is 'java:comp/env' and this is where lookup automatically begins for EJBs and resources. IOW, by specifying "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" as the EJB lookup name the server is actually treating this as "java:comp/env/java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk". Specify only the ejb context ("ejb/WarehouseClerk") in your lookup and you should be fine.
    Any help would be most appreciated.
    SeanRegards,
    Tony "Vee Schade" Cook
