JAX-WS Web Service with XFire Client

I wrote a simple web service and client using XFire. However the server now needs to be JAX-WS. I wrote a simple service using NetBeans but I can't seem to get it to work with XFire. JAX-WS doesn't seem to like the SOAP XFire is sending it and the parameters passed into the web method are nulls instead of the intended values.
Here is my web service:
package org.me.hi;
import javax.jws.WebMethod;
import javax.jws.WebResult;
import javax.jws.WebService;
import javax.jws.soap.SOAPBinding;
import javax.jws.soap.SOAPBinding.Style;
import javax.jws.soap.SOAPBinding.Use;
import javax.jws.soap.SOAPBinding.ParameterStyle;
@WebService(name="HelloWS", targetNamespace="http://hi.me.org")
@SOAPBinding(style=Style.DOCUMENT, use=Use.LITERAL, parameterStyle=ParameterStyle.WRAPPED)
public class HelloWS {
    @WebMethod(operationName="add", action="")
    @WebResult(name="return", targetNamespace="http://hi.me.org")
    public Integer add(Integer a, Integer b) {
        if (a == null)
            System.out.println("a is null");
            return null;
        if (b == null)
            System.out.println("b is null");
            return null;
        System.out.println("a: " + a + " b: " + b);
        return a + b;
}Here is the WSDL:

  • Web services with LV client

    A typical approach to web services is to access the host (an embedded cRIO, for example) using a client running in a browser with some JavaScript.  Has anyone implemented a LabVIEW client that calls the web services on the host?  How might this be done?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello kc64,
    I am sorry about the confusion. I am going to parse your response in the post to hopefully be more clear and answer the questions you are asking.
    My current project status is this:  I have a cRIO with a working RESTful web service and I can access it using my browser.  It works great.  Now, I want to access the same service using a LabVIEW client. It has been established that LV can act as a client to a web service by the fact that it will actually generate the interface code to access the server using Tools | Import... | Web Service.  I have generated a client for an Internet accessible web service and it works.  That process, however, required a WSDL file from the server.  I don't have a WSDL file for my cRIO web service. I can make one if absolutely necessary in order to use the web services import wizard.
    I have done more research on this and right now we can say that using RESTful web service by itself will not provide you the functionality to create a LabVIEW client. What we think might be possible is to create a WSDL file to access this web service but we need to talk with R&D to see about this. We know that LabVIEW doesn't have the ability to generate the WSDL file for you so you will have to create this. When I find out more information about this, I will send it your way.
    Or I can write my own client in LV if I new how to register the service with .NET, which I do not.  So, it is a fact that LV can be used to build a web service client.  I seek to better understand how that may be done.
    Yes you can and we have seen several customers do that with .NET. I also asked R&D about this and they said that you could use TCP/IP in order to get the information into LabVIEW as well. I did some research how to do this online and I found a presentation explaining how to do this as well as some code at LAVA by John Lokanis. In the notes of this example of this code, it states that there is "a VI that demonstrates how to call a LabVIEW web service from a LabVIEW VI or Application." which is exactly what you want to do.
    I hope this information helps you and when I have more information about this, I will send it your way. Again I am sorry for the confusion.

  • Asynchronous JAX-RPC Web services

    In our application we would like to make a non-blocking call
    to a single web service ( so we don't need to use BPEL).
    Do you have a pointer to the document about creating Asynchronous JAX-RPC Web services and writing client code?
    Thanks!
    -- Qun

    Yes interoperability is the biggest advantage you get with JAX-RPC services.
    JAX-RPC spec (JSR 101) defines a standard way in which a web service should be written so that it interoperates between different application servers. It does away with the vendor specific api's and implementation of web services.

  • Web Service, SSL and Client Authentication

    I tried to enable SSL with client authentication over a web service. I am using App Server 10.1.3.4.
    The test page requires my certificate (firefox asks me to choose the certificate) the response page of the web service returns this error:
    java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Bad response: 405 Method Not Allowed
    Has anyone used web services with SSL client authentication?
    Any clue why?

    Any comment?
    Thank you.

  • Jax-ws web service client

    Hi, I am confused by the web service document http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/e13758/use_cases.htm#i244846 section 2.4. The Note states:
    You can invoke a Web service from any Java SE or Java EE application running on WebLogic Server (with access to the WebLogic Server classpath). Invoking a Web service from stand-alone Java applications that are running in an environment where WebLogic Server libraries are not available is not supported in this release for JAX-WS Web services.If I understand it correctly, it says jax-ws only can be consumed by the clients that have access to wls libraries. My web service client will be 3rd party business parnter. Not sure if they are on wls or not. Does it mean I can't use jax-ws?

    When you just use the JAX-WS standard you do not need any WebLogic related classes to create a client for your web service.
    When the web service is deployed the WSDL can be accessed. By using this WSDL you can create your client by using tools
    such as wsimport (which comes with a JDK distribution and is located in the JDK_HOME/bin directory)
    wsimport -keep -d C:\YOUR_PROJECT\src http://hostname:port/context/SomeWebService?wsdlthe 'keep' option make sure the generated .java files are not thrown away.

  • JAX-WS web service client and Windows integrated Security authentication

    I am currently developing a JAX-WS web service client running on WebLogic 10.3.2.0. The client is connecting to exchange web service running on IIS.
    Everything works well when EWS is configured with Http basic authentication.
    The problems started when I changed the autentication method on EWS from Http basic authentication to Windows integrated Security authentication.
    The client is then unable to authenticate to the web service. Every request made to EWS returns with the message : Invalid HTTP server response [401] - Unauthorized.
    I tried using an authenticator like this one:
    static class RetrieveWSDLAuthenticator extends Authenticator
    private String username, password;
    public RetrieveWSDLAuthenticator(String user, String pass)
    username = user;
    password = pass;
    @Override
    protected PasswordAuthentication getPasswordAuthentication()
    return new PasswordAuthentication(username, password.toCharArray());
    and setting it as the default authenticator :
    Authenticator.setDefault(new MyAuthenticator("username", "password"));
    but the method getPasswordAuthentication() was not even called.
    Is there a way to make a JAX-WS client works with Windows integrated Security ?

    WIS is not suppported on WLS JAX-WS. You'll need to use other authentication mechanisms such as http basic (which you tried already), or message-level security such as UNT, or SAML.

  • RIDC client using JAX-WS Web Service requires OWSM policy

    Hi
    For development purposes, I want to invoke the RIDC JAX-WS Web Service (I believe this to be the 11g idc native ws) but an error is thrown stating the various policies are invalid. The fact is my instance of Weblogic is not set up with OWSM and there are no security policies applied or configured.
    I was wondering if there was a way to invoke this web service using http basic authentication and bypass the requirement to have a policy attached.
    If not, does anyone have steps on how to enable OWSM and policies, and attach these to the IDC native web services).
    Thanks
    M

    Hi Ryan
    Yes, I have tried to use the JAX-WS with configuration that I was hoping would set Basic Auth on the request, however an error is thrown stating that the required policies are invalid on the server.
    In summary:
    I create a JaxWSClient client.
    I create a binder using the client.
    I create a IdcContext using a valid username and password.
    I set up the service details and params in the binder.
    I send the request by invoking the client and passing the binder and IdcContext.
    With this basic set-up, I get a SOAP fault from the server stating that policy 'oracle/no_authentication_service_policy' and oracle/no_messageprotection_service_policy are invalid. It makes sense that there are invalid as they are not present on my weblogic instance, and it seems that because I have not specified any other configuration, that these are treated as the default policies.
    Setting up basic auth would be ideal, as I do not have control of the Weblogic instances, and so getting OWSM would be a pain. There may be some way to set up the client to use Basic Auth, but unfortunately I cannot see how.
    Cheers

  • Creating client stubs for web services with callback operations

    Hi,
    I have created a simple web service in Workshop to simulate an asynchronous communication.
    When I test it within workshop everything is fine but how do I generate the necessary
    stubs to create a java client that will support the callback operation ? The only
    doucmentation I have found suggests using <clientgen> with the "generateAsyncMethods"
    attribute but <clientgen> does not support that attrbiute until version 8.1, I'm
    using 7.0. Has anybody run into the same problem ?
    thanks in advance,
    Mike

    This example doesn't use any callback operation though. Is there any sample that
    shows how to implement a client for a web service with a callback operation ?

  • JAX-WS PL/SQL  Web Service with JDeveloper (Weblogic problem)

    Hello,
    does anyone know how to create a JAX-WS webservice based on a pl-sql package using JDeveloper? Maybe it is possible with a newer version of JDeveloper 11.1.2.3, currently I'm using 11.1.1.6 which only offers a JAX-RPC for PlSql Web services.
    I'm facing a problem right now trying to deploy an jax-rpc web service on Weblogic 10.3.4. Actually it seems to be an WebLogic problem because weblogic doesn't support the older standard (JAX-RPC). So I've extended the weblogic domain using Fusion Middleware Configuration Wizard like described for example here . Unfortunately it doesn't help. Deploying my applicaiton on a forms11g (11.1.1.4) domain (which goes hand in hand with the weblogic domain (?)) is successful. But anyway I can't call the WSDL or test the web service using weblogic console. Other services (jax-ws) work without any problem on the same forms domain.
    I would appreciate any hint, how to automatically produce an jax-ws web service from an plsql package or how to run a jax-rpc web service on weblogic 10.3.4. It's Weblogic Basic Server actually, but I'm of the opinion it doesn't play a role in my case.
    Thank you in advance for your hints.
    Kind regards,
    Anton
    Edit: I would appreciate any hint how to check if a weblogic domain supports jax-rpc (if extended correctly). Thanks.

    We can generate jaxws from 11.1.2.0 onwards using This is now provided by the TopLink web service provider builder, which can be via the TopLink DBWS provider wizard from JDeveloper since the 11.1.2.0.0 release

  • Building client proxies for web services with SOAP attachemtns

    Hi all.
    I'm currently building a series of web services that take SOAP attachments as
    input, but I am unable to generate the java proxies for testing the services via
    WebLogic Workshop 8.1. When I attempt to build the proxy, I get the following
    error:
    Warning: Failed to generate client proxy from WSDL definition for this service.
    Suggestion: Please verify the <types> section of the WSDL.
    Is there something I need to alter to get this to work, or does workshop not support
    client proxies for web services with DataHandler parameters?
    Thanks.
    -Brian

    Thanks for the help. This is my first web service with SOAP attachments, so it
    may have been a long time till I realized that.

    Thanks Brian,
    The problem is that you are trying to use the "document" soap-style :-)
    If you change this to "rpc", you'll should be able to successfully generate
    the
    client proxy jar. The soap-style property, is at the bottom of the "protocol"
    property sheet section, for the JWS.

    Mike Wooten

    Sure, sorry about that. Attached is the wsdl for a sample web service

    Hi Brian,
    Would it be possible for you to post the WSDL, so we can see what might

  • Java web service with php SOAP client

    Hi!
    I have a Java web service with a procedure, which connects to a database:
    public boolean connectDB(String driver,String host, String user, String password)
    try {
    Class.forName(driver);
    connection =
    DriverManager.getConnection
    host
    , user
    , password
    return true;
    } catch (Exception v_exception) {
    System.out.println("connectDB(): " + v_exception);
    return false;
    If I call it from a PHP client, it doesn't work but doesn't throw any exceptions on the server side.
    The way I call it:
    $client = new SoapClient
    (<path>);
    try
    $conn=$client->connectDB();
    catch (SoapFault $exception)
    echo "\nexception: " .$exception;
    On the client side, I have an exception, but it's not very detailed:
    exception: Object id #2
    I had a simple function, too, which returns a string:
    public String getTestString()
    return "test";
    and if I call it from PHP, it's working...
    What may be the problem?

    Neither the simple "setter" methods work.. :(
    The php client side:
    $string="aladar";
    $client->setSample($string);
    $return = $client->getSample();
    The server side:
    public String sample;
    public String getSample() {
    return sample;
    public void setSample(String a_sample) {
    sample = a_sample;
    Any ideas?

  • Build soap client to invoke jax-rpc web services

    Hi,
    I would like realize a simple soap java client to invoke a web services starting from wdsl file configuration of my web services.
    Thanks,
    Enrico.

    Hi,
    You can use jax-rpc to invoke the web services by creating stubs classes in your client side using wsdl. If you have ant ,then use wscompile command (in ant) or through dos command passing this wsdl file as parameter to create stubs classes automatically.And then set your classpaths accordingly when calling the web services from your client.
    thanks

  • Handle Session data with JAX-WS web services

    Is it posible to to handle session tracking with JAX-WS web services without implementing my own session logic.
    If posible how do we put values in to session and get them back.
    And also assuming that sessions are supported is it posible to share the same session between two web services on the same web application.

    Hello!
    Do you have any solution to your problem now? I also need to maintain a session bean between 2 webservices. If you solved this, can you please tell me how?
    Thanks a lot!
