JButton Text Color help......

Hey,
I have tried everything that does not work to change the color of the text on a JButton I have in a JPanel. Does anyone know how to do this. I need the actual text on the button to be a different color than black..This is an application so I am not using public void paint( Graphics g);
buttons[1] = new JButton("Open");
buttons[1].addActionListener(this);
That is a sample of my button creation code..I just need to change the word "Open"s color...

  • SPRY submenu text color help needed.

    I've created a vertical SPRY menu bar over a dark background
    image in a left sidebar. The text is white and the background is
    set to none (transparent).
    When the submenu opens to the right it's on a white
    background (over the main content area). Because the text is set to
    white, you cannot see the submenu links.
    Is there a way to change only the submenu links to black? I'd
    also like to change the background color of the submenu links.
    Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    - This first link is the Spry home page. There you will find an
    updater to Spry that if you have not downloaded up to this point,
    you should I will explain why shortly. Inside the package you will
    find a ton of samples and an Extension. Install the Extension and
    restart DW. Then under the Sites menu you will see a new option to
    update your Spry. Run that updater.
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/menubar/MenuBarSample.html
    - This page will show you how to make the necessary customizations.
    The last two examples will help you out. All you will need to do is
    read through the source code of the document. There is no need to
    read through the source of the CSS file because they show you the
    changed CSS on that page. Just apply those changes to your CSS
    SpryMenuBarVertical.css document where the tag matches. If there is
    no matching tag you will need to just copy and paste the entire
    portion but I don't think that is the case with your menu. Also
    your entries will be Menubar 8 & 9 in the source code, but to
    find the matching code in your css document just replace the
    MenuBar8 or 9 with MenuBarVertical.
    If you have not done a lot of work with CSS before I would
    highly recommend reading this tutorial before going through any of
    the above steps:

  • AppleScript Text Coloring Help

    Okay, so in AppleScript Studio I made an application that is really just a text editor. Now I would like to make a script that would run whenever the contents of a text view changed, and what I want the script to do is every time it sees a certain word in the text view, change the color of only that word and leave the rest of the text alone, but it also changes the color of the word if that word is used more than once.
    i tried
    if text view "text" of scroll view "text" of window "window" contains "the" then
    set selection of text view "text" of scroll view "text" of window "window" to "the"
    set color of selection to "red"
    end if
    It gives me several errors, I don't really know if they are relevant to the solution of my problem, but if they are I can post them.
    Please help, I have tried to do this in so many different ways and nothing has worked.

    I udate my os to 10.6.7 and since then my Pages have color problems. The text is not visible (white on white background) it does'nt help to change the text color nor background color. I just download the recent trail version of Iworks and install it. The first document I opened it was ok. When I open the second one the problem appear again and stayed. Pls help

    This behavior was described many times.
    In every occurrence,the operating system was an uncompleted one resulting of the use of Software Update to update the operating system to 10.6.2, 10.6.3, 10.6.4, 10.6.5, 10.6.6, 10.6.7.
    In such cases, the solace was to apply a combo updater.
    As you are using 10.6.7, download and apply the combo 10.6.7 :

    After that, run Software Update which will urge you to apply :

  • HELP!Can't change text color photoshop 3d

    Hi everyone!
    I am having a problem with Photoshop CC and the 3d text extrusion. I've never been able to change the color of my text using the Color Picker or changing the text color by going into the "Edit Source" feature and manually changing it. Neither of these have any effect on my text color. The only way I've found to change my text color is by selecting the Diffuse color under my Front Inflation Materials.
    The screenshots below will show my settings and problems.
    The first step is creating the 3d Extrusion text layer. I have selected below the word Beach in a dark grey.
    The next step is after the 3d Extrusion layer is made, I am trying to change the color of my 3d text to a red. So I'm highlighting my text layer, going to the 3d Text Color picker and selecting red. The box above shows the red that I've selected, and below the little thumbnail also shows red. My problem is that after I press "Ok", the small red box below next to text reverts back to the original dark grey and doesn't change.
    The 3rd step and the other way I'm trying to get my text color to change is by clicking on the "Edit Source" button, going into the .psb, manually changing my text color to red, saving and closing the window. The text color still does not show my changes. It remains the original dark grey color that I originally had. Now, if I go back into "Edit Source" my text is red, but it won't show the changes on the 3d layer.
    Am I doing something wrong, or is there something I'm missing? Thank you guys in advance.
    -Terry

    I'm with you XM Just got Steve Caplin's book on 3d Photoshop and he says you can easily change the color as shown in  that video —although I am getting different color picker. note the properties panel (on right) the color swatch shows pink once I click OK it reverts back to original color

    As a newbie to the forum you obviously didn't understand how to post a simple direct question, with only the relevant code to demonstrate the problem, which is why I provided you with all the extra information to help you get better answers in the future.
    Did you bother to read the link of creating an SSCCE?
    Your question is about setting the background color of a button. 99% of the code you posted is not related to that issue. Keep the code simple so we don't waste time reading through unnecessary code. That way we can determine whether the problem is with your code or the environment as I already mentioned.
    1) Though the information about setting the text color is helpful, the
    background color of the button is the subject of the posting. Please
    limit your replies to the subject of the posting.If the code posted was only related to the background color then we wouldn't have this issue now would we? When I see something strange or wrong I make a comment whether it is directly related to the question or not. It has been my experience that most people appreciate the bonus advice, so I will not change my behaviour for you. If you don't like the advice, then just ignore it.
    2) Regarding, "I don't use 1.5 so I can't really help you, but neither can
    anybody else...", please read Michael_Dunn's post, who remarkably
    was able to provide help.My comment was related to the code you provided. Nobody could use the code to compile and execute to see if it ran on their machine. So, Michael, had to waste time creating his own simple test program to see if it worked, which it did.
    My point was if you provided the same simple demo program that Michael did, then all he (or anybody else) would have had to do would be to copy, compile and test the program. You should be spending the time creating the simple test program not each of us individually. Think of how much time is wasted if everybody who wanted to help you had to create their own program? Thats why I included the link on creating an SSCCE, so the next time we don't need to waste time.
    3) ..... Otherwise, it's alright not to reply to a subject. Nobody will think less of you.Of course I don't have to replay to every question (and I don't), but if you don't learn to post a question properly you will make the same mistake again and again. That was the context of my answer. It was designed to help you ask a better question the next time.
    4) Your comment, "And don't forget to use the Code Formatting Tags > so the code retains its original formatting." That was a standard message I use for many newbies to the forum. I'm amazed at the number of people who think we are mind readers and can guess exactly what is causing the problem without posting any code. So I got tired of typing in a different message every time and I now just cut and paste. Yes I could have edited the last line out, but you would be amazed at how many people format the code the first time but then forget to do it when prompted for more detail. So I just keep it in all messages.
    Please keep your comments related to the problem. I think I've learned a think or two over the years on how to ask and answer a question.

  • How do I change the text color of footers on select pages? (InDesign CS6)

    Good afternoon,
    Months ago, I worked with a graphic designer to put together a 100-page workbook for my training company. He turned all of the files over to me and I'd like to make a small change before we print another run for a new client. Specifically, I'm having trouble changing the text color on select pages. Since a picture says 1,000 words, let me give you an example:
    As you can see, the copyright information on the right side of the page is difficult to read here when placed over the photo (you may have to look closely, but it's along the guy's sleeve). What I'd love to do is change that part of the footer (not the left, page number side) to white text. This would make it quite a bit easier to read. There's a number of other pages in the book that I want to make this change to. I'm not sure why I never noticed it or mentioned it to the designer. I suppose I've become more discerning since then.
    Let me tell you what I've tried to do:
    I learned how to override master pages by CTRL+SHIFT clicking on the footer. However, this has not worked for me. It allows me to change the page number part, but not the copyright side. Additionally, sometimes when I override the master the formatting of the footer goes goofy. For instance, the left side and right side come together and end up in the middle of the page I'm working on.
    I'm looking for a quick way to go through and make the footers easier to read on pages where they are backed by a photo. Hoping you can help me. Please let me know if you need any other information.
    Best,
    Taylor

    I think you should have left it as it was. It seems like what you had was single pages flowing as spreads within InDesign. Like below. That is the correct way, and when you changed it to all single, it did create your footer problems.
    Will you be sending the file as a PDF to your online printer? If so, then leaving the InDesign file set as below is fine. The PDF output will separate the pages.
    All you have to do is make sure that Pages, not Spreads, is chosen when you output the PDF

  • How to change text color in CS4

    Hey everyone. I know I'm not fluent in Dreamweaver, but had DW8 before upgrading to CS4 and I'm pretty handy with it. In version 8, if I wanted to change a text color, I simply highlighted the text and picked a color. No worries.
    However in CS4, I seem to be only have that ability in my CSS properties, (not HTML properties). Then when I try to change the color, it gives me a dialogue box asking questions such as "new CSS", "for this page only", etc. and I don't understand what I'm supposed to do.
    Can someone tell me in a user-friendly way (step-by-step), how to simply change a text color on a page? I went to the help topics and it said to use the 'color-picker', but that takes me back to my original problem.
    I'm either doing something terribly wrong, or ADOBE has made a simple task into brain surgery!
    Thanks in advance for assistance!
    Mark

    Beginning with CS3, DW became more compliant with W3C web standards which call for content (HTML) being separate from style (CSS).  Thus you now have two properties boxes: one for HTML content and another for CSS styles.
    Create a few CSS classes using the CSS style panel.
    CSS:
    .red {color: red}
    .blue {color: blue}
    .green {color: green}
    Highlight a word or sentence on your page and apply the appropriate class to your HTML.
    HTML:
    <p class="red"> this is red text</p>
    <p class="blue"> this is blue text with <span class="green">GREEN WORDS</span> in the middle</p>

  • In Acrobat 8 Professional, how can I change the typewriter text color?

    I tried selecting the text then pressing Ctrl-E but the text properties toolbar that appears says, "No current selection." I tried this method another user suggested:
    "1. Use the text box tool to type some text, then select the text
    2. Use the properties bar, ctrl-E, or View > Toolbars > Properties Bar, to change the color of the font
    3. Highlight the text, not the text box and copy the text.
    4. Click on the typewriter tool and type some text.
    5. Click on the comments menu and select "Show Comments List", in the comments list you should see the typewriter entry from step 4 above.
    6. Highlight the typewriter text in the comments window then paste the copied text from step 3 above.  It should paste with the color selected in the properties bar.
    7. Right click an area of the typewriter entry in the comments list, and choose properties.
    8. On the General tab check the "Make Properties Default" Check box and click OK.
    All new typewriter entries should now use this new font color. "
    But when I get to STEP #2 the text properties toolbar that appears has all the options to edit the text shaded so I cannot select the option to change the text color. Any help would be appreciated!

    There really aren't default outgoing font settings. They are only there for viewing. A workaround I have seen mentioned is to start you signature with the font style you want to use. When you start your message, click in that first part of your signature.
    Something like

    Modifying the properties of a control in a subVI do not modify the properties of a different control in the main VI. The data is the only thing passed back from the subVI. To modify the properties of the table in the main, you need to pass a reference to it to the subVI and modify it's properties. I've attached a modified llb that does what you want.

    hi,
    as i mentioned, you would require to use a custom renderer for this, for this
    //Class subclass the JFrame and has a JList in it
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.util.Vector;
    public class ListRendererTest extends JFrame
         private JList lstMenu;
         private DefaultListModel defaultListModel;
         private JScrollPane scrollPane;
         private Vector listVector;
         public ListRendererTest()
              init();
              addComponents();
              showFrame();
         public void init()
              lstMenu = new JList();
              defaultListModel= new DefaultListModel();
              lstMenu.setModel(defaultListModel);
              scrollPane      = new JScrollPane(lstMenu);
              listVector = new Vector();
              MyListData m1 = new MyListData();
              m1.setName("Rakesh");
              m1.setOnline(false);
              listVector.addElement(m1);
              m1 = new MyListData();   //represents each User instance
              m1.setName("Makesh");
              m1.setOnline(true);
              listVector.addElement(m1);
              for (int i=0;i < listVector.size(); i++)
                   defaultListModel.addElement(((MyListData)listVector.elementAt(i)));
              lstMenu.setCellRenderer(new MyListRenderer());  //set custom renderer
         public void addComponents()
              getContentPane().add(scrollPane,BorderLayout.CENTER);
         public void showFrame()
              setTitle("List renderer test");
              setSize(300,300);
              setLocation(200,200);
              setVisible(true);
         public static void main(String args[])
              new ListRendererTest();
    }The above class is the Container which houses the JList in it, it uses two other classes, MyListData which is used to represent each user instance ( username, and information about whether he is online) and MyListRenderer (custom renderer).
    // Represents each user instance //
    public class MyListData
         private String name;
         private boolean online;
         public void setName(String name)
              this.name = name;
         public String getName()
              return name;
         public void setOnline(boolean online)
              this.online = online;
         public boolean isOnline()
              return online;
    //custom list renderer
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    public class MyListRenderer extends DefaultListCellRenderer
         private MyListData myListData;
         public Component getListCellRendererComponent(JList list, Object value, int index,  boolean isSelected, boolean cellHasFocus)
               myListData = (MyListData)value;
               setText(myListData.getName());

  • Easy one I hope: How do I change text color?

    For the life of me I can't seem to find anything with a color pallette (except for background fill). I need to change text color but don't know where to find it.  Everything's always black. When I highlight the text, and goto "Font", I see something that looks like the "Select Text Color" (like the one above but as soon as you mouse over it, it turns to a crossed-out "ABC", and can't get the pallette.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    Question: Are these fields that you had changed the type of in the Object Pallet/Field Tab/Type ? If so, try deleting the object and put a new one in its place from the Object Library.
    If no, what sort of parent do these items have? Table Row? or SubForm?
    Good luck!

  • Multiple text colors in my spry menu

    Can I make multiple text colors in my spry menu? I want to match the text color on one of my spry menu items to the hover color so that you know which link you are currently visiting. I haven't posted the site yet until I work out all the kinks. So, to summarize, I have my spry menu link text color (ul.MenuBarVertical a) set to #E00 and my hover color for those items (ul.MenuBarVertical a.MenuBarItemHover) set to #888. All of the links also contain the same spry menu. I would like the link you're currently in to be #888 and the other links to be #E00 with all of them hovering with color #888. How can I give unique color to an individual menu item? Any help you can give is much appreciated!

    Sorry to bug you again. I implemented your suggestion as you can see in this partial pageview:
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryDOMUtils.js"></script>
    <script src="js/navbar-select.js"></script>
    <script src="SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
    <style type="text/css">
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal a#button1:hover, ul.MenuBarHorizontal a#button1:focus
    { color:#625647; }
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="team-vision" class="container">
    <div class="header"> <a href="#"><img  id="logo" src="images/logo_i.png" width="215" height="36" alt="Greiner Engineering"></a>
    <ul id="MenuBar1" class="MenuBarHorizontal">
    <li><a href="index.html">INTRO</a>|</li>
    <li><a href="ger-vision.shtml">VISION</a>|</li>
    <li><a href="ger-2firmen.shtml">2FIRMEN</a>|</li>
    <li><a href="#">PROJEKTE</a>|</li>
    <li><a href="ger-network.shtml">NETZWERK</a>|</li>
    <li><a href="ger-contact.shtml"  id="button1" class="MenuBarItemSubmenu">KONTAKT</a>|
    <ul>
    <li><a href="ger-contact.shtml">ADRESSEN</a></li>
    <li><a href="ger-team.shtml">TEAM</a></li>
    <li><a href="ger-location.shtml">LAGEPLAN</a></li>
    </ul>
    </li>
    <li><a href="ger-links.shtml">LINKS</a>|</li>
    <li><a href="ger-publications.shtml">VERÖFFENTLCHUNGEN</a>|</li>
    <li><a href="ger-jobs.shtml" class="MenuBarItemSubmenu">JOBS</a>|
    <ul>
    <li><a href="ger-jobs.shtml">OFFENE STELLEN</a></li>
    <li><a href="ger-practice.shtml">PRAKTIKUM</a></li>
    <li><a href="ger-thesis.shtml">DIPLOMARBEIT</a></li>
    </ul>
    </li>
    <li><a href="ger-impressum.shtml">IMPRESSUM</a>|</li>
    </ul>
    </div>
    I did this in ger-kontakt.shtml, ger-team.shtml, ger-location.shtml
    but it does not leave KONTAKT highlighted.
    If you want to check it out my url is http:/www.lsdcoach.com/greiner-engineering. Select GERMAN and the click on KONTAKT. The other menu items without a submenu work great.
