Jca adapter Valves in OSB

Hi,
I have a requirement to move files between two file system using two OSB services configured with jca ftp adapters.
The first service will read a zip file containing one .txt file and in OSB I need to extract the text file for writing to the target ftp server.
In the reverse flow I need to read a text file and zip the file in OSB before writing to the target system.
Can this be achieved using jca adapter valves? Does OSB support adapter valves?
Thanks,
Sai.

Thanks Prabu. I was able to configure it. The below link also helped.

  • JCA Adapter Postprocessing with OSB

    Hi,
    I am using JCA file adapter with OSB to generate flatfile output from xml (nxsd). I would like to know if it is possible to use JCA adapter post processing with OSB. (JCA pipeline and valves). Please let me know if you have tried this.
    Thank you
    Matt

    Pre and post processing is not supporting in JCA Adapter for File/FTP certified on OSB. Check section 25.2.2.3 Oracle JCA Adapters for Files/FTP Limitations in below link.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/dev.1111/e15866/jca.htm#OSBDV910
    However, according to below link it does work nonetheless. I havnt tried it, may be you can try it out as given in the link below and let us know.

  • Jca adapter in SOA & OSB

    HI,
    iam new to OSB
    .For file,ftp,jms,db adapters can be integrate in SOA & as well as in OSB also(as Protocols)
    in which scenario we will  go for SOA
    in which scenario we will go for OSB.,if we use both technologies in one project.
    Any one can provide some guidence ,please

    Hello,
    As Karan said, it depends on many factors.
    These are a couple of them i think you should know about :
    Wich is the main function of your BUS ?. Is intended for virtualizing MDW services to external consumers , For virtualizing services from service providers or Both?. This may help you determining how much external/non-canonical protocols & data models/structures you will  "allow" to be used whithin it. This is not an an issue on SCA applications (@ SOA suite), as they have more tools that ease the process of mapping/transformation/translation onto different data models/structures and has native support on its IDE for all the Adapters the SOA Suite provides.
    An ESB is not intended to be the reciepient of each resource an Enterprise have, but those which has reusable potential and can attain ROI. It is an Anti-Pattern to upload each service available and then hope it will be reused (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/entarch/oea-soa-antipatterns-133388.pdf - "Web Service Sprawl"). In this case you should analize how much a certain adapter could be reused, and thus if the ROI it would give guarantees its existance in the BUS. This is not an issue on SCA applications, as they tend to contain non-agnostic services (Mainly BPEL Processes), attaining some flexibility on reusability-based measures & calculations.
    I hope this helps!.
    If u have doubts regarding what i just worte, please say so.
    Regards.

  • Reading large file with JCA Adapter in OSB

    Hello,
    We are searching for a solution how to read large file (>50M) from network drive and deliver it to queue via OSB 11gR4 (10.3.4). The problem is when reading the file with JCA File Adapter. It seems that it cannot handle as large files as we have. The documentation provides a way to bypass file size limitation by using Chunk Read but it seems to require BPEL Process execution which is not possible in our environment. Does anyone know if there are ways to implement this without having BPEL Process?
    Our usecase:
    read file from network drive -> transfer with OSB -> deliver MQ
    Other options than JCA File Adapter can be considered, if anyone can advice...

    If it's a plain routing use case and no message processing is required then you may simply use OSB's FILE transport instead of JCA adapter. Create a messaging type proxy service and select request message type as "binary". Also enable the content streaming (Disk buffer, compression).
    From OSB Dev guide -
    Oracle JCA Adapter for FTP and Files – Attachments (large payload support), pre- and post-processing of files, using a re-entrant valve for processing ZIP files, content streaming, and file chunked read are not supported with Oracle Service Bus.

    Generally when you delete the data source, you will need to restart the server. I ran into a similar issue (but not the exact error) when I deleted a data source and was trying to create another with the same name without a restart. The issues got resolved once I restarted the server after the deletion of the data source and then recreated the data source after restart .
    The com.bea.wli.sb.transports.jca.JCATransportException: oracle.tip.adapter.sa.api.JCABindingException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cause already initialized might be due to the same reason.
    Can you do this and see it resolves your issue?
    Thanks,

  • Customizing JCA FTP Adapter properties in OSB

    Hi,
    I have requirement to read a file from one file system and write it on another file system.I have implemented this using jca FTP adapter in OSB.
    The read and write directory will be different across environments in which I need to deploy the project.
    The read and write directory info is present in the jca file as given below.
    <activation-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.ftp.inbound.FTPActivationSpec">
    <property name="DeleteFile" value="true"/>
    <property name="MinimumAge" value="0"/>
    <property name="PhysicalDirectory" value="TEST/INPUT"/>
    <property name="Recursive" value="true"/>
    <property name="PollingFrequency" value="10"/>
    <property name="FileType" value="ascii"/>
    <property name="PhysicalArchiveDirectory" value="/PROJ/ARCHIVE"/>
    <property name="IncludeFiles" value=".*\..*"/>
    <property name="UseHeaders" value="false"/>
    </activation-spec>
    Is it possibel to cahnge this valueof <property name="PhysicalDirectory" value="TEST/INPUT"/> using customization files. From the OSB docs I undersatnd that only OSB predefined environment values can be changed using customization files.
    Thanks,
    Sai.

    Hi Prabu,
    The directory name is not appearing in the configuration of the services.
    I have specific reason for going with jca Adapter. Why writing the files to the destination if some failure happens ftp protocol may cause partially written files but I think JCA adapter will make sure either the file is completely transferred or not transferred at all.
    If this cannot be done in OSB I think I need to go for BPEL implementation where the config plan supports the replacement of JCA properties.
    Thanks,
    Sai.

  • OSB JCA Adapter performance issue

    Hi,
    We have to use OSB as an ESB at integration level which need to populate the result from local services e.g. from DB as well as from external services. Actually we need to use switch [split -join] and connector [individual proxy for individual services] features.
    As for external services, we do not have questions but to access data from local system e.g. Database, whether it will be a performance issue in OSB, in case if we are using JCA Adapter and exposing it as a service? Because some one objected that accessing JCA layer in OSB will be a performance issue.
    If some one can shed the light on it, it will be great.
    Thanks & Regards,
    V D

    Hi,
    Have a look at the Developer Guide for OSB... Oracle JCA Adapter for Database is supported... Have a look at the limitations, there's nothing mentioning performance...
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/dev.1111/e15866/jca.htm#i1110405
    Also have a look at the following blogs... One of them even suggests that jca performs better than xquery with fn-bea:execute-sql...
    http://victor-jan.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/osb-fn-beaexecute-sql-vs-jca-dbadapter.html
    http://reallifeserviceorientedarchitecture.blogspot.com.au/2011/09/oracle-service-bus-osb-and-jca-adapters.html
    If you are still in doubt open a SR with Oracle Support...
    Hope this helps...
    Cheers,
    Vlad

  • OSB - Third Party JCA Adapter Deployment

    Hi everyone,
    I would like to know if OSB 11 supports third party JCA adapter besides Oracle JCA adapter.
    If it does, I would like to know how I can generate wsdl and jca files for the thrid party adapter in order to deploy it to OSB. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    K.Hein

    The JCA transport of OSB works in conjunction with a built-in JCA adapter framework and JCA-compliant adapters to interact with EIS systems. You may need to develope a custom transport (similar to JCA transport in OSB), to use your custom/third party JCA adapters with it.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e15866/part_tsdk.htm#sthref962
    Better option would be to raise an ER with support and if product development approves the same then a new feature can be introduced in OSB to support third party JCA adapters as part of existing JCA transport/as part of a new transport.
    Regards,
    Anuj

  • JCA Adapter Less than Symbol in OSB 11.1.1.5

    Hey everyone,
    When trying to create a Business Service based off of a JCA Adapter created in JDeveloper for a custom query database call, I am having issues if the query has the less than symbol in it.
    When generating the service, it gives me the following error:
    WSDL and Service Resources can not be generated at this time, please try again.
    Reason: error: Unexpected character encountered (lex state 9):
    The less than symbol is properly escaped as & l t ;
    Im using 11.1.15
    Replace & with $amp; is not working...

    When generating the service, it gives me the following errorWhat do you mean by "generating the service"? Where do you see the error? OEPE? Is that compilation time, deployment time or run time?
    Database data should be escaped finely... Can you give us more details about your case?
    Cheers,
    Vlad

  • File read or delete error in oracle jca adapter is not being caught in java

    Hi,
    I am using oracle JCA file adapter to read and process file and that jca is being used in OSB. This is working fine. But if the file is not in proper format or file is alredy opened,jca is throwing error on console and control is not going to OSB. I have to log this error in database either by OSB or before OSB using EJB. I have inserted valve in jca for preprocessing. But in the any method of abstract valve , i am not getting able to access the error thrown by jca in case of invalid xml file. If i am able to fetch error message in execute method or any other message of AbstractValve, that error may be sent to database using EJB that not able to get the error message. Please let me know if there is any way to get the errors by jca in java code.

    In the case of error while reading or deleting file(if file is not in write format or opened or not accessible), control is not going to OSB. from JCA default error handling mechanism is throwing error to console. That's why i tried with inserting valve in jca adapter.

  • Error in using file adapter valves

    Hi,
    I'm working on Oracle SOA Suite 11g (11.1.1.4). I'm doing an exercise on using adapter valves for encryption. I need to write an encrypted file using File adapter. I created pipeline.xml and also specified property in jca file. And added bpm-infra.jar file to classpath.
    Also, I've compiled SimpleEncryptValve.java and created a jar file and placed it in lib directory of domain.
    Pipeline.xml is as below :
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <pipeline xmlns="https://www.oracle.com/adapter/pipeline">
    <valves>
    <valve>valves.SimpleEncryptValve</valve>
    </valves>
    </pipeline>
    writeFile_file.jca contents are as below :
    <adapter-config name="writeFile" adapter="File Adapter" wsdlLocation="writeFile.wsdl" xmlns="http://platform.integration.oracle/blocks/adapter/fw/metadata">
    <connection-factory location="eis/FileAdapter"/>
    <endpoint-interaction portType="Write_ptt" operation="Write">
    <interaction-spec className="oracle.tip.adapter.file.outbound.FileInteractionSpec">
    <property name="PhysicalDirectory" value="D:\PoC\FileAdapters"/>
    <property name="Append" value="false"/>
    <property name="FileNamingConvention" value="new_%SEQ%.txt"/>
    <property name="NumberMessages" value="1"/>
    <property name="PipelineFile" value="pipeline.xml"/>
    </interaction-spec>
    </endpoint-interaction>
    </adapter-config>
    Got below error while testing. What could be wrong in valve configuration ?

  • XA Trasaction issue with SAP JCA Adapter

    Using OSB 10gR3
    We have a proxy picking messages from a JMX queue using an XA enabled connection factory (the default weblogic XA connection factory). Proxy service calls a business service which is based on the SAP JCA WSDL and posts an IDOC to SAP system. A Route to node with Routing option Quality of service set as Exactly Once is used to ensure a rollback in case of errors on SAP processing. (Also tried with a service callout in request pipeline to achieve the same result).
    Here are the issues we are facing
    1. If the the SAP Outbound connection on iwafjca resource adapter is set as Local Transaction
    When testing from console the service runs fine. When message is sent from JMS queue we get an error "Transaction already exists". This seems correct as SAP Adapter will try to create a new transaction which will be possible while running from console while when Global transaction is created by JMS queue (when Proxy picked up message from XA enabled queue) SAP Adapter will not be able to create a separate transaction being not a part of XA.
    2. If SAP Outbound connection on iwafjca resource adapter is set as XA Transaction
    Even the business service when tested directly from console fails in this scenario. The error we get is "XA transaction not supported by JCA adapter".
    Any idea how to make the SAP JCA Adapter call a part of global transaction so that failed messages can roll back to the JMS queue?
    Sorry for the long description but I thought it will make it easier :)

    2. If SAP Outbound connection on iwafjca resource adapter is set as XA Transaction
    Even the business service when tested directly from console fails in this scenario. The error we get is "XA transaction not supported by JCA adapter".
    Any idea how to make the SAP JCA Adapter call a part of global transaction so that failed messages can roll back to the JMS queue?The interface provided by SAP (SAP JCO) doesn't support JTA transactions.So there is no way adapter/Connection factory can enlist in global transaction.
    1. If the the SAP Outbound connection on iwafjca resource adapter is set as Local Transaction
    When testing from console the service runs fine. When message is sent from JMS queue we get an error "Transaction already exists". This seems correct as >SAP Adapter will try to create a new transaction which will be possible while running from console while when Global transaction is created by JMS queue >(when Proxy picked up message from XA enabled queue) SAP Adapter will not be able to create a separate transaction being not a part of XA. This is known behavior and If I remember correct there is Bug raised but closed as Work as Designed (I still don't have clear explanation why adapter starts local transaction when underlying connection doesn't even participate ). Solution for this is to Make QOS=Best Effort.This makes sure that the local transaction required by adapter will not conflict with global transaction.
    So if you expecting adapter to participate in global JTA currently it is not supported.
    Thanks
    Manoj

  • How to configure JCA DBAdapter logging in OSB 11.1.1.4.0?

    How to configure JCA DBAdapter logging in OSB 11.1.1.4.0?
    I have a project deployed to the new 11.1.1.4.0 version of OSB.
    Under previous versions, a $DOMAIN-diagnostic.log file was maintained and contained a record of the activity of the various JCA DB pollers I had configured.
    In the most recent version, this is not the case.
    I'd like to know if I can restore the old behaviour...
    The best solution I could come up with is to change a setting in $DOMAIN/alsbdebug.xml, thus:
    <java:sb-debug-logger xmlns:java="java:com.bea.wli.debug">
    <java:alsb-jca-framework-adapter-debug>true</java:alsb-jca-framework-adapter-debug>
    </java:sb-debug-logger>
    With this change the pollers put their logging output into the $DOMAIN.log file.
    How can I get the output back into $DOMAIN-diagnostic.log?

    Alex,
    Oracle B2B does not support custom HTTP listening channels as of now. There are below two default HTTP listening channels for async Request-Response scenarios -
    http://host:port/b2b/transportServlet or http://host:port/b2b/httpReceiver
    and below one is used for synchronous request-response scenarios -
    http://host:port/b2b/syncreceiver
    where host - B2B server host and port is B2B server port.

  • SFTP Receiver adapter error Message could not be forwarded to the JCA adapter

    Hi Experts,
    I'm needing help to solve a problem with an SFTP Receiver interface.
    Before I was sending in the adapter configuration as "Direct" in Write Modus (File .txt) and now I changed to "Use temporary file" is occurring this error:
    Message
    could not be forwarded to the JCA adapter. Reason: 2: Moving
    /ABCftp/To_XXX/140187613515701OUT_20140604-100214-622.TXT.tmp to /ABCftp/To_XXX/01OUT_20140604-100214-622.TXT failed.
    Files as TXT they are being written to the SFTP however when as TMP returns this error ... would not rule SFTP server to accept different TXT files?
    I also changed the namespace to "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/SFTP" and "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File" but is not working.
    Any help will be welcome!
    tks.

    Hi Durga and Naveen...
    I believe the problem is when the application's legacy system picks up the file because the log file got the "tmp", ie, was not formed yet ...
    I changed to a directory without the intervention of the legacy application and it worked.
    I'm waiting for the opportunity to modify the legacy system to capture only files with the extension TXT.
    Tks All for help!
