JCo IDoc: SAP Business Connector required?
On my searching for the error IDOC_ERROR_METADATA_UNAVAILABLE i have found this thread:
BC 4.7 -IDOC_ERROR_METADATA_UNAVAILABLE
"As of SAP BC 4.7 the SAP Adapter (the piece dealing with the SAP system(s)) uses the new SAP IDoc Java API which uses other function modules to retrieve the definition data of the IDocs.
You need new permissions in the SAP system, especially
S_IDOCDEFT:EDI_TCD=WE30,ACTVT=03,EDI_CIM=,EDI_DOC=
S_CTS_ADMI:CTS_ADMFCT=TABL"
Does JCo Idoc require the Business Connector installed to execute the JCoIDoc.createDocument() method? I guess not, but i can not see other reasons for the error message. If i read it correctly, the BC needs the permissions in SAP, but the JCoIdoc library does not depend on the BC.
MikeNo, it is not required. At my company we use a third party software to handle all faxes. Really it is setup SAP as an output device, so it is just like printing to a printer. THe only differences is we need to have a header page in the sapscript which gives all of the details of the fax to the third party software. This software then strips off this first page and faxes the rest of the pages.
It is called RightFax and it runs on a separate server.

Seeing the messages, it appears that server is down.
"java.net.ConnectException" occurs whenever you try to connect to a system which is not up and running.

JCO Timeout for SAP Business Connector 4.7
Environment :
Windows 2000, SAP Business Connector (BC) 4.7
General Description :
SAP BC is used to invoke BAPI's in the SAP R/3 system.
Issue :
Some BAPI's are taking some time to return response depending on user load. Need to provide a timeout for RFC calls invoked by SAP BC using JCO.
Following is the entry in the rfc trace log file when BC starts up ...

Questions :
1) Is there a SAP BC configuration parameter for RFC execution timeout ??
2) Any other way of enforcing the RFC time out ??
3) If there is a way to set timeout on JCO.Client.execute method ??
I really appreciate your help !!I have tried changes the connection timeout value but if doesnot affect the time RFC. Following is from SAP BC adapter guide ..
Delay (minutes) until an unused connection to a SAP
System is timed out (default: 5)
I think I need similar setting as that for RFC connection !! -
[Business Connector] JCo
Hi all,
I have the following problem regarding Business Connector issuing IDoc for a SAP Backend system to process.
Since BC is waiting for the complete integration of the IDoc to send the next one, the process is quite long !
Thus, I had several questions regarding Business Connector :
1) Does Business Connector necessarily rely on JCo to connect to SAP Backend systems or is there another way ?
2) If yes, is it possible to configure pooled connection instead of direct connection as it seems to be the default behaviour
3) Has anyone experiences multiples connections to the same SAP Backend system from one instance of Business Connector ?
4) Is this possible to configure SAP Business Connector in order not to wait for the complete integration ?
5) Is this possbile to configure ALE in order to only issue a receipt confirmation to SAP Business Connector (with the purpose to fasten the whole process) ?
Thanks for you help!
Best regards,
GuillaumeHi,
1)SAP Business Connector is a SAP native Message Server.
SAP JCo is native Connector from/to R/3 to/from the Java world.
SAP Java Resource Adapter is a Connector which currently applies to JCA 1.0.
2) neither SAP Business Connector nor SAP JCo meets JCA specifications.

RFC Error while trying to access function module from business connector
Hi,
I am getting the following RFc exceptions in BC server when we invoke the service pub.sap.client:invoke fail as a flow step in Idoc_Status_Add(this service is calling a function module in sap namely ZYBC_IDOC_STATUS_ADD_FROM_BC which Adds status to Idoc (from Business Connector). But no trace of failures are recorded in sap side
except 1: rfc_failure in BC trace files under monitoring.I need to know the root cause of these errors as the same services have run finely later and IDOCs were also processed successfully without any problem.

could anyone throw light on how this kind of error can be resolved and why it occured?
Thanks. What does the RFC trace file and log say? Has there been any dump on the SAP server? Check the logs and transaction st22 in your SAP system to see if the RFC-module has dumped.
My guess is the problem is in the RFC-module, I think you should start looking there.

No SAP Option under Adapters in SAP business connector 4.7 Admin page
Hi Experts,
I have installed SAP BC 4.7 (both server and developer) and started the server (installation done with <sid>adm user). The problem I am facing is in configuration. There is no SAP option under Adapters because of which I am unable to configure ABAP stack here. Please help in resolving this.
Below are some logs:

Edited by: Chandra Vikash on Oct 11, 2011 1:46 PMHello gaurav,
I have tried re-installing.
I am able to open the web-admin and also all the links except the ones in the adapters section.
I have checked the installation document, adapter guide for BC 4.8 but i couldnt find anything useful.
I was just wondering if it has got anything to do with the OS.
lemme know if you have come across anything like this.
thanks for the help.

thanks in advance,

priya. Not sure if it will help, but have you tried to flush the structure cache? I think you will have problems if the structure of the IDoc has changed in the R/3 system and the Business Connector is not aware of the change.

Problem establishing Business Connector 4.8 and R/3 connection
Hello,
I'm currently running a few SAP Business Connectors 4.7 servers for my company, all connected to SAP R/3 4.7 backend, and everything works fine.
I tried to setup the new BC 4.8, on a fresh Windows 2003 server, the install went fine, but when I try to make a new R/3 connection, with a working and existing RFC user (previously used by the former BC 4.7), I have the following error message :
Error : class com.sap.conn.jco.JCoRuntimeException
Message : Name or password is incorrect. Please re-enter on 192.168.0.4 sysnr 00
Service : sap.admin.server:getInfo
I don't understand because if I unplug the 4.8 server and plug back the 4.7 one with exactly SAME user/password and same R/3 connection properties, it works fine...
I precise I re-typed manually the login/passwords in both BCs to ensure it's not due to a typo error.
I have read that JCO has changed between 4.7 and 4.8 releases. Could it have an impact ? Also do I still need to install a librfc32.dll in my windows/system32 directory ?
Any clues ?
Thanks in advance for your help
P.
Edited by: Patrick TOURNEUR on Jul 21, 2008 6:40 PMHello,
just for your info, the JCo implementation has changed about this login function. BC 4.8 is using JCo 3, 4.7 used JCo 2.
I never understood the whole problem completely, but as you found out by yourself, you are safe if you enter the user/pwd in SAP only uppercase, and also in BC
SAP changed this user/login up/lowcase stuff at some time, which has caused many trouble in projects.

Dear all,
we have a problem with our business connector. It hangs from time to time so that we have to restart the service. Please have a look at the error logs. Are there other logs which could be helpful?

Our BC v4.6 is running on a Win2000 Server.
Thanks in advance
Edited by: Kilian on Jan 23, 2009 3:12 PMThat looks very strange. Do you have the lastest service pack and core fix applied for 4.6 ? If not, I suggest to do that. If yes, normally you would open an OSS-Call. The problem is, BC 4.6 is not supported anymore then I would suggest you update to 4.8 or 4.7
It looks like a BC bug, because it is a null pointer exception inside a BC system method.

Business Connector related question
When I am in Business Connector and trying to right click on Trident package to Unlock it so I cab modify it and it gives me the following error:
Java.lang.NullPointer.Exception
When I click on more details I get Server Error occurred
Any ideas what is missing
or what can be doneHi Chander,
I think all you need to do is the following.
1) Logon to the new development bussiness connector server via the administrative UI
2) From the admin screen on the left tab click under Packages -> Publishing
3) You will be taken to a screen the has available releases ...click on Add Subscribers
4) you window should have the following path Packages>Publishing>Add Subscriber
5) Choose a package. enter the following:
Host Name: ( your production bus. connector server ip
Host Port : ( your production bus. conn. server port ( default = 5555 )
Transport : HTTP
Remote user name: (your production bus conn user name )
remote pw: ( your production bus conn pw )
6) Click on add subscriber ( provided you have entered the correct un/pw and have acces to the server..you will get message that server is now subscriber to package
7) Click on return to publishing ( path should read Packages>publishing
8) Click on create release
9) under the package you set as a subscriber to production click on create release
10) enter package release information - click on create release at bottom of screen
11) return to publishing - path should read Packages>Publishing
12) you should now have a link send release to the right of your package
13) click on send release - from next screen click on your subscriber (production bus conn ).
thats it...
