JCP or XP

Hi,
I noticed the 658 answers for the JCP question. Any of you used XP home or pro with java and tomcat and hit problems. I am creating a help file for those inflicted with this problem. XP is definitely sub-standard in my view.
What does JCP stand for? I ma not reading 658 answers to find out.
Lots of best,
Kev

Hi cmcccorvey,
Thanks for the feeback. Not sure that I agree though. I was experiencing problems mainly in regards to DB2, which if you know the history - Bill was a partner once with IBM.
I have now uninstalled XP completely, as I am not impressed with this sorry example of the new NT (I quite like win2000).
Nothing personal, but pray tell me, how did you install your copy of XP? If you upgrade from a previous version of Win then you get a c:\windows directory, whilst if you install s new, you get a Winnt directory!!!!! First naff point.
second, if you log on as a new user, it takes quite some time (several minutes), to set you up with new documents and settings etc.
third, It is generaly a slow system apart from when starting (due to most of the start checks being removed!). Then it goes into overdrive, and takes ages (in seconds), to swap between directories every time.
Lastly, at the moment, Tomcat runs, but not with every database, particularly DB2. Mysql is fantastic, Access is as normal as ever (i.e. it does the simple jobs), but DB2 does not work.
Can you prove me wrong, please do, I would happily (not entirely) endorse installin the same into the University labs if I know that it works at a reasonable speed and with a fairdegree of accuracy, but I am yet to see this proven.
Best,
Kev

    also, i noticed from exprience in this forum:

    Well, I created a new email account and put it on the topic "If U want to be JCP".
    So far its received two emails asking me to join a Java online community and two that I presume are from cat lovers - something to do with pussies ( cue Mrs Slocombe from Are you being served..... ), so I would suggest that people don't' put their real email addresses on there. If you really want information about certification go to www.javaranch.com or many other sites.
    Also, why trust someone who can't even spell ( or be bothered to spell "you" properly??)

    I tried a lots of stuff on net but could not find the solution.
    pls help it out urgently

    Lisa,
    I would check the online docs and/or the following HowTos for more details. They are not specific to JRun, but will give you the general process and list or archives and other things to copy and add to the classpath:

  • My initial design of the JCP implementation,YOUR suggestions required

    I have no experiences before on Javacard/Smartcard/COS...
    Here is a simple/naive design after reading JCP specs and smartcard handbook, etc.
    Please give me some guides/suggestions/references
    Thanks.
    The ideas below lacks of supporting materials.
    The relation between COS and JCRE:
    1. JCRE has lots function of the COS like Security Manger, Transmission Manager, Command APDU handle,
    Application Manager(implemented as Applet), File Manager(implemented as Applet)
    2. The main() of a COS is a loop receiving/sending APDU.
    3. The IO loop could be implemented as Java code.
    GUESS:so the JCP(VM, API, JCRE, Applets) plus native functions(IO, crypto) is the COS.
    The function/class below form the COS of a smartcard
    //1.cos
    int main()
         JCVM_run(JCRE);
    //2. cos components == javacrd native functions
    usb_opertions();
    hash256();
    //3. JCRE
    class JCRE
         APDUDispatcher apduDispatcher;
         IOManager ioManager;
         SecManager secManager;
         Applet[] currSelectedApplets;
         start()
              presetApplets.install();
              ioManager.registerListener(apduDispatcher);
              ioManager.loop();
         switchApplet(newApplet)
              if(!firewallCheck())
                   return;
              oldApplet.deselect();
              newApplet.select();
    //3.1. APDUDispatcher, like the "card manager" in OpenCard
    class APDUDispatcher
         //1 raw byte stream -> APDU
         //2 default process
         //3 delegate to applets
         process()
              switch()
              case SELECT_FILE:
                   JCRE.switchApplet(findApplet());
                   break;
              default:
                   logicalChannelNo;
                   JCRE.currSelectedApplets.process(apdu);
    //3.2. IOManager
    //java wrapper for lowlevel io operations
    class IOManager
         loop()
              while(1)
                   if(read())
                        apduDispatcher.process();
    //3.3. SecManager
    class SecManager
         firewallCheck()
         capAuth()
    Please give me some guides/suggestions/references
    Thanks.

    The idea is right.
    I've found an similar implementation here.
    why2.38 lib/why/javacard_api/javacard/framework/Dispatcher.java
    (note: this is javacard.framework.Dispatcher not javacard.framework.service.Dispatcher, the first one is part of JCRE, instead of part of API)

  • Org.jcp.xml.dsig.internal.dom.DOMKeyInfo equals() method implementation

    I use something like this:
    if(myKeyInfo.equals(anotherKeyInfo))
    //I believe two signers are same. It seems correct.
    Behind the scene the KeyInfo is implemented by org.jcp.xml.dsig.internal.dom.DOMKeyInfo.
    I would like to have a look at org.jcp.xml.dsig.internal.dom.DOMKeyInfo to find out how its equals method is implemented.
    Basically I would like to make sure wether myKeyInfo.equals(anotherKeyInfo) is the right way to ascertain the signer.

    You can find the source in a few different places, either in the Apache XML Security project repository or the JDK 6 and OpenJDK projects on java.net. Here is a pointer to the JDK 6 source:

  • IPhone JVM a JCP activity?

    Does anyone know if the development of the iPhone JVM is going to be a JCP activity? It seems to me that there are all sorts of fundamental issues that need to be resolved:
    1) the JVM's going to be open source, so open design would also be good, no?
    2) footprint: CDC vs. Java SE?
    3) GUI: not Swing, but what then?
    4) interoperability of Java apps on iPhone and Android
    If it's not JCP, where do we send our input?
    Steve

    NO, and it´s "big bugg"

  • JCP Submission to add covariant return types

    What would be involved in getting to gether to submit a formal JCP to enable covariant return types?
    AFAIK, the changes are:
    1) the language spec
    2) the JVM Spec
    3) changes to the compiler code
    4) changes to the class file verifier in the JVM code
    And that should be it. Who wants to organise this?

    My understanding is that the current generics proposal already includes covariant return types.

  • Does Microsoft have anything even remotely like JCP?

    I know this is an odd place to post a question like this. But I was wondering if Microsoft had anything even remotely like Sun's Java Community Process Program ( http://www.jcp.org/ )?
    It seems like such a great idea, and if Microsoft is going to compete with Java, it would seem like a good idea for them too. Not having it would be a real turn off for .NET, to me anyway.
    Anthony

    Hi,
    I have great disdain fo MS (I do not like MS), but what they have done with Visual Dot NET is beyond cmprehension.
    I have to admit, that part of it is a pure copy of java, with a few changes and called C##.
    It is actually very good, sadly!
    So, is MS competing? Too right they are.
    It appears that the big players , i.e. IBM, SUN and MS are developing together.
    That's nice,

    Could someone please delete the thread mentioned in the subject line as it is the usual type of thread that involves folk posting their e-mail addresses and it would appear to be set up for gullible folk.
