JDBC+Lite+WinCE : java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no oljdbc40 in shared library path

Greetings,
I'm trying to work with Oracle 9i Lite on PocketPC and I got one
exception when I try to use jdbc package (oljdbc40.jar):
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no oljdbc40 in shared library
path
Since I didn't made the dll (is an Oracle product), I can't make
much about the dll or the native class file where the call take
place.
my standard definitions are:
-PocketPC (ipaq)
-Personal Java 1.1 beta
-I have my application in a JAR-based file in "\Program
Files\App"
-Oracle Lite installation in "\ORACE";
-dll files installed by oracle in "\Windows";
-wince registry classpath for JAR/CLASS file aimed
to "\ORACE\oljdbc40.jar"
So, what should I do to run my application that uses a jdbc
package from oracle based on a dll file?
I'm hopeful to solve this and avoid my thought from using any
Microsoft Visual tool...
thanks,
Pedro Salazar

Hi Pedro,
Did you ever get this problem fixed? I'm seeing the same issue running Personal Java 1.1 beta for StrongARM on PocketPC 2000 with Oracle 9i Lite 5.0.2
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks,
Simon.

    Make sure the oracle library ($ORACLE_HOME/lib) is included in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
    Or, you can use JDBC thin driver instead of OCI driver.

  • Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no msawt in shared library path

    I am using IE5.5 on Windows 98SE, and every time I try to run an applet, I get the error "java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no msawt in shared library path" I have installed the JDK/JRE, but it has not done anything. I discovered that I was missing msawt.dll from my windows/system folder, but when I got it, it had no effect on the error message. I have gotten the same applets to run on other win98/IE5.5 machines. I read of this same problem in a linux forum somewhere, but nobody had a solution. What should I do? Thanks.

    Well, as tacky as it is to reply with the solution to my own problem, I found that installing a newer version of Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine, free from Microsoft's site, helped elminate that error. Perhaps this will help someone else.

  • Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError when loading libaries

    Hi,
    I coded an ejb, in which I want to call funtionality coming from a dll via JNI.
    In order to achieve it I copied the libary 'XXX.dll' to the windows directory system32
    and call in my ejb : System.loadLibary("XXX").
    The following exception occured:
    javax.ejb.EJBException: nested exception is: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no XXX in java.library.path
    Can anybody help me by saying
    1) where to put the .dll and what path to set in calling System.loadLibary(...)
    3) or even where and how to set the java.libary.path variable (Instance Template via configtool?)
    Honour and points are garanteed.
    Jens

    Hi,
    Check This,
    File f = new File("C:");
    System.out.println(f + " \t" + f.exists());
    f = new File(f, "sampleDLL2");
    System.out.println(f + " \t" + f.exists());
    System.load( f.toString() );
    When the library can not be found, you get a java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError with the message "no library in java.library.path". To solve this, move the library in one of the directories specified by java.library.path or alter the property so that it points to the directory containing your library. You can print this property with the following code:
    1: System.out.println(System.getProperty("java.library.path"));
    Another possibility when things do not work is when the DLL can be found, but the methods can not. A DLL exports functions according to specific names an calling conventions. When your compiler is not configured the right way your methods may get anther name than they should be. To solve this, you should include the header file generated by javah and configure your compiler the right way.
    Thanks,

    Thanks, - Dave

    You can verify the settings of the path to your libraries with
    System.out.println(System.getProperty("java.library.path"));before you call System.loadLibrary(), so you know if it is correct.
    I also found this information (for Solaris):
    The shared library file name requires a "lib" prefix and a ".so" extension. Do not include the "lib" prefix or the ".so" extension for the argument that you pass to the System.loadLibrary method.
    I don't know if that helps you solving your problem.

    Thanks for your response. I found that, when I copied the shared library to /usr/lib and
    did: ldconfig -n /usr/lib it worked
    But the problem is, this is my computer, but the computers that I am going to run my actual
    JNI application, have restrictive permission. Could anyone please let me know how I can
    do the work without ldconfig. I mean is there anyway I can configure my .so file's path without
    copying it into the /usr/lib folder and without ldconfig?
    I will appreciate any reply. Thanks.

    There are only a very very few and rare good reasons to use the oci8 driver with Java (and I can't remember any of them at the moment). Performance is not one of them. If at all possible, you should use the Type IV (thin) driver instead.
    The classes12.jar (or zip) is for use with Java 1.2 and 1.3. There are different versions of this jar for each version of the database, but they're fundamentally cross-compatible; all the post-8i drivers are supposed to work with all the post-8i databases (and the 8i stuff also mostly works too). There's been a succession of bug fixes and minor functional changes, as well as some very substantial perfromance improvements. If you are developing brand-new code, I very stongly encourage you to use the very latest driver (currently 10.2.0.1, I think). If you are using a Java version greater than 1.3, then you should use the ojdbc14.jar instead (and don't try to use both classes12.jar and ojdbc14.jar, they have the sameclasses in them). I think the 10.2.0.1 ojdb14.jar was the first one certified for Java 1.5, and it's significantly faster than the 9i drivers. Anyone considering an upgrade of drivers should plan to do a good regression test; as mentioned before, there are some very small functional differences. You can download the latest drivers here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/index.html
    If you insist on using oci, then you probably need to do an Oracle client installation on your Windows box. If you stay with the 9i driver, the full client install is huge; however, you can almost certainly use the 10g "Instant Client", which is a pared-down version, with just the minimal stuff to support an application. That's available here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/instantclient.html

  • Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc8 in java.library.path

    hi,
    i am trying to connect to an oracle 8.1.7 database from my application running on tomcat 4.0.3 / jdk1.4 /windows nt.
    using the thin jdbc-driver (classes12.zip) everything works fine.
    when i try using the oci8-driver, i get an error-message saying:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc8 in java.library.path
    i have the oracle-client installed on my machine.
    the ocijdbc8.dll can be found in D:\server\oracla81\bin
    the environment-variables PATH, CLASSPATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH (i'm not sure if this has any meaning on nt) all point to this directory.
    i start tomcat using the following option: -Djava.library.path="D:\server\oracla81\bin"
    my application can see this variable:
    System.out.println("java.library.path: "+System.getProperty("java.library.path"));
    prints out the correct value.
    then i try to load the library by myself:
    try {
    System.loadLibrary("ocijdbc8");
    System.out.println("Successfully Loaded");
    } catch(Exception e) {
    System.out.println("LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not properly set");
    e.printStackTrace();
    everything works fine! the library is loaded!
    finally i try to connect to the database and the application throws the mentioned exception:
    lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc8 in java.library.path
         at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1410)

    It is probably JDK 1.4 that causes the problem. I was able to get strange errors with that version of the JDK with code that worked fine using 1.31.

    The oci library must be in the shared library path of the platform. Simple as that.
    Do you have that library(ocijdbc10) installed? On platforms besides MAC a client install of the Oracle GUI allows for it.

    I'm not sure this is the best forum, perhaps if there is one for jdbc oracle clients it would be better posted there.
    Try searching your Java Exception: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc10 in java.library.path: error on google.
    Lots of hits come back.
    My guess is just because App Server processes running via Tuxedo have access to the Oracle libraries they need, does not mean your code in the JVM created by the App Server processes do.
    I would double check your LD_LIBRARY_PATH and ensure any required jar files like maybe $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib/ojdbc6.jar are in ClassPath setting in the appserver config or copied to the class directory. Have you tested your program independently outside of PeopleSoft and made it work there first? That should indicated what requirements you've created by embedding jdbc into PeopleSoft. I've never tried what your doing though, so I'm just making an educated guess, and I don't know all that might be required.

    Armin,
    I haven't seen this one before.
    Is your browser set to run with German locale?
    Here is my standard reply for problems with applet deployment in 3.1. It is probably the case that some classes available in the JDeveloper environment were not deployed to your web server environment.
    Applet Deployment for JDev 3.1
    Deployment issues for client and server:
    1. Make sure you have the JDK 1.2 plugin installed on the client.
    2. If your webserver and database are not on the same machine, you will have to configure your applet
    differently, or install the Net8 Connection Manager. See the Oracle JDBC Developer's Guide for more
    information (exact location of applet info depends on which version of the DB).
    Creating your Applet within JDeveloper:
    1. Create a new workspace.
    2. Create a new Business Components project. You will define your data model and business logic in this
    project. This is effectively your middle tier, but can be deployed to any tier you choose. In this
    project you will use the Business Components wizard to create:
    a. entity objects for each of the tables/views you want to develop against
    b. view objects (and optionally view links, associations) for each of the entity objects or
    combination of entity objects
    c. application module(s) to represent your data model(s)
    3. Save and build your business components project.
    4. Create a new empty project to contain your applet code.
    5. Launch the Infobus DataForm wizard to create your DAC applet. Choose the app module you created in
    step 2 as a data source. (Alternately, you can create the applet from scratch using the controls and
    binding your sessioninfo object to your app module).
    Deployment Steps within JDeveloper:
    1. Deploy your business components project.
    a. decide how you will deploy your app module (local, visibroker, etc.)
    b. if you decide to deploy in local mode, use the Deployment Profile Wizard and choose 'Simple
    Archive', including all of the business components project's XML and .JAVA files in the archive.
    c. if you will deploy to visibroker, see the online help for deploying your business components,
    and see the Release Notes for additional changes you need to make to your applet project.
    2. (if deploying BC4J project in local mode) Create a library using the archive you generated in Step
    1. Add this library to your applet project from the Project Properties Libraries tab.
    3. Clear out a directory on your local machine where the deployment wizard can copy everything you
    need to deploy.
    4. Deploy your applet project.
    a. Run the JDeveloper Deployment Profile Wizard and choose the Web Application to Web Server option
    on Page 1.
    b. On page 2, select all of the .class files in your project that make up the applet.
    c. Select all the libraries listed and shuttle them to the selected list. The contents of these
    libraries will automatically be added to your applet's HTML file during deployment
    d. Give the .jar file a name, and run the deployment to generate that jar file.
    e. select the location of the 'clean' directory you created in step 3.
    Deploying to your WebServer:
    1. Copy everything that the deployment process placed in your 'clean' directory to your WebServer.
    If you deployed your BC4J project locally, you will need to deploy the archive file containing your
    business components to the webserver along with all of the other archives.
    2. If you want to put the dependency archives in a different location from the applet's HTML file
    under the webserver root, then you need to set the CODEBASE tag in the HTML file to the (relative)
    location of the archives.
    Troubleshooting:
    1. Try both Netscape and IE. Different Browsers sometimes give different errors and one might be more
    helpful/indicative of the problem's source.
    2. Use the Java Console to get a more detailed stack trace. For Netscape, choose
    Communicator->Tools->Java Console.

  • Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError on Linux

    Hi,
    I've got some Java code compiled which works
    fine for others on a Windows machine. The same code, when run on Linux using the latest
    tarball (oracle8161SE_tar.gz) for the 8i server gives me the following error when run:
    I searched here but didn't find anything yet. If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: get_db_version_number

    This error can occur also if a dependency of your library can not be loaded.
    For instance if your library mylib use some function of saying libX, and has been linked in such a way that the dynamic labrary contains a reference to it, this library must be available at runtime.
    Check your LD_LIBRARY_PATH for all dependencies of your library.
    (note that the classpath is not used by the dynamic loader)

  • Loadjava error: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError ...

    Hi,
    When i try to load a jar file in the database using the following command:
    loadjava -user username/password@tnsname dist.jar
    I get this error:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: t2cParseExecuteDescribe
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CStatement.t2cParseExecuteDescribe(Native Method)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CStatement.executeForDescribe(T2CStatement.java)
    e.t.c.
    The db version is:
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Prod
    and the JAVA option is enabled (TRUE).
    Do you have any idea, what may be the reason?
    Thank you,
    Yorgos

    Hi,
    T2C means Type 2 Client; look like you have library classpath probleme with your type 2 driver. The following posting, might help: Re: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc 10
    aternatively, try using JDBC-Thin instead.
