Jdev 11G (11.1.1.3.0) ADF BC: Weblogic Server Samples
I installed the JDeveloper Studio Edition 11.1.1.3.0 from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/downloads/index.html. From what I'm gathering, the WebLogic server that's installed (embedded?) with this is not the same server that's installed if you do a standalone install, BUT to install WLS standalone, you are supposed to install JDeveloper 11g?
Lot's of questions...
1. What I'm getting at is... I'd really like to look at the samples, specifically the MedRec or the MedRec Spring sample, but I'm not sure how I even go about doing that? I have not seen any "samples" folder under my current folder structure, searching from C:\Oracle\Middleware downward.
2. Do I need another copy of WLS, or do I custom install these samples into my current JDEV installed WLS? If so, how?
3. Where are the other samples and code examples that are mentioned in the Roadmap book e14529.pdf?
Any help would be appreciated. Old JDEV used to include OC4J standalone that you could run from the command line (listening on 8888) or within JDEV embedded listening on 8988. I guess I'm just trying to find something similar, and a way to begin looking at how to do WebLogic J2EE development, after coming from an Oracle A/S 10.1.2 environment (due to Oracle Forms requirement).
4. Any suggestions on this as well?

The integrated WLS is a stripped down version so it doesn't come with the samples.
It is mainly meant as an easy way for you to test/run applications you build with JDeveloper.
On the JDeveloper page on OTN you'll find lots of tutorials and samples that show you how to build applications that will run on WebLogic.

I would suggest you start with this tutorial if you are coming from a Forms background:

As far as the WLS samples, you can bring the samples source into JDeveloper into new projects (look at project form existing source) - and then run them and they'll deploy to the integrated server.
Another option is to install a stand alone WLS, and then the samples will be there.

JDev 11g 111 with BPEL designer - cant connect to BPA Server
I have just installed the latest 11g JDeveloper and added the BPEL designer.
I notice that in the composite designer I can connect to or create a connection to the BPA server.
I have BPA designer 10.1.3.3...which I used with JDeveloper 10.1.3.1. This is running on my local PC.
However I am not able to create a connection to it in the latest Jdeveloper.
When I try to add a BPA server, as soon as I select Local server (as opposed to Remote).. it tries to connect and fails :

The problem still seems to persist, despite the version change. I have tried with JDev ver 11g and Oracle BPA 11gR1. I test the connection. Result Test Succeeded. But when I click on the OK button, it does not close the dialogue box and allow me to proceed. I need to cancel and hence unable to establish connection .

What you need to do is to first download the Application Developer Runtime component of the FMW 11g R1 release.
http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/middleware/11g/ofm_appdev_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1.zip
This you install into your existing WLS installation, which makes all the necessary libraries and other artifacts available.
This results in a new domain template being added, which you can then use to extend an existing domain with using the Configuration Wizard.

Error while running HRFacadeClient of JDev 11g Tutorial

I was following the tutorial under Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces
Section 19 says to run application under OC4J,

Curently OC4J not available under JDev 11g Production version, so it runs under Web-logic Server which comes with JDeveloper 11g. Please see the log below:

I tried once again to install a fresh instance of Oracle soa suite 10.1.3.0 and upgraded it to 10.1.3.4 successfully. I did all the JDeveloper 11g installation and configure SOA process all successfully. I can create a connection to OC4J using 12401 RMI port successfully but none of my applications are deployed to server.
This message is repeatedly displaying in messages tab:

The default OC4J RMI port is 23791 but in my installation it is set to 12401 when I checked the Runtime Port option of Oracle Application Server and the connection is fine with this port but applications can not be deployed with this configuration.
I can deploy applications on separate standalone OC4J instance successfully but not able to do it with my SOA application server.
Any comments will be appreciated.

Jdev 11g Production: Connection Name FOD Not Defined (Tutorial: ADF Visuali
I tried out the following tutorial: ADF Visualization Components. I follow the step by step to install Jdev 11g and the FOD schemas. The step by step tutorial is helpful but ran into a problem in the beginning when I tried to run the FOD Module as stated. The following message came up when I right click the FODModule and select run, "Connection Name FOD Not Defined". I have created the connection as stated in the tutorial and can access the FOD database and see the tables.
I search the form and I don't see anyone else running into the same problem. Can any help me out.Hi,

I am trying to implement the elements of the tree programatically in Jdev 11g(specifically 11.1.1.0.2) but no result is coming .
There is no compilation/run time error , its just that the tree is not visible.

I have the old version of Jdev 10.1.3 and it's working with the message "Could not canonicalize ...."
I have found the following thread in forum:

The system11.1.1.0.17.45.24 directory is on the network drive:
H:\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.0.17.45.24\o.j2ee\embedded-oc4j\applications\dms.war
and not on the:
H:\Application Data\JDeveloper\system11.1.1.0.17.45.24\o.j2ee\home\applications\dms.war
I am not sure, but it seems to be the same problem with the embedded OC4J and dms.war, as discussed in the thread
mentioned above.

Jdev 11g Production - Unable to edit EO/ VOs from Application Navigator
I created an ADF Model project. In this project I created ADF's 'Business Components from Tables' using the wizard. I went through the wizard and created EO, VO, AM and business diagram. After that, I was able to execute the AM (right-click and Run), but when I tried to open the EO or VO to edit properties (Right-click and Open), I was unable to do so.

user8028667, under JDev 11g you're right, it should be right click > Open (entity name). This should open the Entity Object document window.
Unfortunately the link you've provided appears to be internal to Oracle and can't be viewed by the vast majority of readers on this external Oracle forum. Bug JDev 11g - opening jazn-data.xml throws exception

In the latest JDev 11g release JDEVADF_MAIN.BOXER_GENERIC_081002.2127.5156, after running the ADF Security wizard for an ADF Fusion app, double clicking on the jazn-data.xml file within the ViewController to open it raises the exception below. Happens on an existing project and a new one where I've done virtually nothing but run the wizard.

For that existing project I ran the ADF wizard, and just happened to manually create a jazn-data.xml file via the New Gallery too. I note there appears to be 2 instances of the file:
1) <app workspace>\src\META-INF\jazn-data.xml
2) <app workspace>\ViewController\src\META-INF\jazn-data.xml
The first was created by the ADF wizard, and the 2nd the New Gallery. The first appears under the Application Resources sub-window, while the 2nd in the META-INF node for the ViewController in the App Navigator.

I think i hit a bug with Release 2 of JDev 11g
Here is the scenario for the bug (the bug happens when using a popup only)
1- Created new simple Fusion ADF Application with JDev 11.1.2.0 without business components.
2- Created a new jspx page.
3- I put a button and a popup on the page
4- Added a showPopupBehavior (operation) on the button and linked it with the popup
5- Up untill now there are no problems when i click the button the popup is showing.
6- Now added a dialog, PanelGroupLayout and an input text or an output text inside the PanelGroupLayout.
7- Added a PopupFetchListener Method on a bean to modify the input text before showing the popup.
8- Binded the Input or output text to the bean.
9- Now when i run the application and click the button to show the popup i get (java.lang.NullPointerException) with the code ADF_FACES-60097.
(it seems like the bean can't see the inputtext which is bounded to it)
10- FYI, tried exactly the same steps with JDev 11G R1 (11.1.1.4) and it is working with no problems.

Which i think is a bug,, it was something i haven't even thought to look at, because i never faced such problem.
The bug is : Here is what i noticed and i think should be, in all Jdeveloper in general in all releases
the properties of all the UI Components are set to their defaults ,, well guess what only in Jdev R2
the popup when placed in a page its properties are all set to default except two properties:
1- ChildCreation - is set to deferred, which is not the default value which is (<default> (immediate)) --- this property is the cause of the error.*
2- AuotoCancel - s set to disabled, but the default value is (<default> (enabled)) --- this just a note.*
Now after setting the ChildCreation property to its default (which it always was in all previous releases) i can modify the content of the popup even before displaying it to the user (Just like before ^_^) -
JDev 11g: problems deploying webapplication to integratedWLS

It looks like R1 is very sensitive on this, so when you just "migrate" TP4 project it does't upgrade the schema/version info. You have to do that manualy. Be noted that besid JDevs metadata (pageDefs, taskflows,...) this refers also to your WSDLs and other xml files you created.
You can look for another my post Anyone succeeded migrating TP4 project to R1? and see the answers there.
Anyhow, I did the migration by creating new app and adding mostly my source files and letting the IDE to recreate all metadata again...

Problems with JDev 11g using JBOSS and ANT

I'm trying to migrate to JDev 11g with JBoss ( version 7.X ) as the AppServer
With JDev 10g all works fine with JBoss, even the Remote Debug, all OK
here is the problems I have :
1) ANT
JDev doesn't save my ANT settings
every time I launch ANT : Run Ant Target - I must set the Advance settings
JDev 10g I only need to do that once, the settings are saved but not in the 11g, why ?
2) persistence

it seems that is something related to dependencies not well configured during build stage of the EAR, but with 10g works fine

The reason you can't run the application on WLS is that you have not installed the adf runtime on your wls. The error 'application.xml: [Extension-Name: adf.oracle.domain, exact-match: false].' points to this.

How to Create Application Server Connection in Jdev 11g?
Hi all
Can any one help me with the below requirement
is there any way to deploy the WAR or EAR to an Application Server in Jdev11g. In Jdev 10g We used to configure the Application Server& Integration Server Connections by starting up the SOA Suite 10g.
Similar to that What is the best option in Jdev11g. Jdev 11g comes with the embadded bea weblogic server, If I want to cerate the Application Server Connection do I need to separately configure the weblogic server?

ADF 11g applications require support for parts of Java EE 5 that are not there in OAS 10 (will be there in Fusion Middleware 11g).
So there is no one click deployment options.
You can however develop an application that uses J2EE 1.4 in JDev 11 without ADF - then create EAR/WAR and manually deploy to OAS.
