  • Queries running slow after migration

    Hi Guys,
We have just migrated database server from SQL 2000 to 2008 (Enterprise) and  few queries are running slow than SQL 2000. We have performed all post migration process(Statistics update, Rebuilding indexes) and everything is working fine except 5-7 queries
    which are running surprisingly slow.
We have checked the execution plan and there is difference in both plans. SQL 2008 is using different execution plan.
Can you please suggest what are the other steps that can be performed to run them fast.
    SM

    1) What is memory assign to sql server after migration.
    2) DB compatibility
     to new one
    3) updates statics with full scan.
    4) check fragmentation and reorganize or rebuild index
    5) see fill factor should 70-90
    6) see missing index
    7) what is database size ?
    8) are using temp tables ?
    9) traceon (1222,1204) will capture deadlock in errorlog
    10) are using mdf and ldf separate ?
    11) see any open transcation
    12) see memory and cpu load
    check and confirm.

  • My computer is INCREDIBLY slow after Yosemite install

I recently installed the latest operating system Yosemite for my Apple Mac Pro and ever since it has been installed, my computer has been INCREDIBLY slow!  Everything from starting up to applications opening to the **** internet!  I'm ready to punch my fist into my **** monitor, even though I know it's not my monitor's fault.  lol.  Macworld has published an article (http://www.macworld.com/article/2837811/bugs-and-fixes-solving-a-yosemite-post-i nstall-disaster.html) about this along with the problem they think is causing it but I checked and the file in question doesn't exist on my computer.  I don't want to go through the last step that is mentioned which involves downloading Yosemite onto an external hard drive and then installing from there.  That step would also involve manually searching for files that might be causing the issue.
So, has anyone else experienced their computers running REAL slow after the update and did you figure out a simple solution?

  • 3GS incredibly slow after iOS 5 upgrade

    Hello Everyone
I accidentaly upgraded my 3GS to iOS yesterday... (not really, I just REALLY wanted Notification Center and iMessage) And now its INCREDIBLY slow. Switiching between pages is terrible, and anywhere text input is needed the keyboard lags like crazy! I do reckon it's because of the slower processor (my wife's iP 4 is FLYING in iOS 5), but I'm tired of having to wait about 5 seconds after I tap a letter for it to appear on screen.
Is there a way I can downgrade back to 4.3.5? My phone wasn't half as bad back then, and I really need the speed back (constantly emailing for work, etc..)
So please help me out if you can:)
    Thank You
    Juan Bernal

Try resetting it: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignoring the off slider that appears first), and release.  If that doesn't work, connect to iTunes, go to the Summary tab and Restore.

  • Early 2011 MacBook Pro incredibly slow after installing Mavericks

I'm really hoping someone can help me out. As per the subject line, I installed Mavericks on day one (and learned my lesson!).
Since installing Mavericks my MacBook Pro runs incredibly slow. If I open the Mail App and Safari - it almost grinds to a halt. I have the "Memory Clean" App which I now have to run constantly (it appears to help a little) and I try to only launch one app at a time where possible, but it's not really pratical.
As an aside, my MacBook ran really well with Mountain Lion, so there's little doubt to my mind that Mavericks is the culprit.
I'd be eternally grateful for any help & advice :-)
I spotted other people advise running EtreCheck, here are my results:

    CleanMyMac is probably your problem.
    CleanMyMac is crapware.
Crapware is anything that purports to "optimize",  "clean", "accelerate", "monitor", or "protect" your Mac. These apps are unnecessary, poorly written, overpriced (if they were free, they'd still be overpriced), and harmful. The people who sell this stuff know this, but they keep selling it because people keep buying it. They can damage your OS and be difficult to uninstall.
I would try to uninstall it, but if that fails, you may have to erase your HD and do a clean install.

  • IPhone 5 running INCREDIBLY SLOW after update?

I've heard of problems with the multiple 8.0 updates and how people have run into different issues but is anyone else experience INCREDIBLY SLOW service? I can be connected onto wifi in my house but often run into "no connection" problems with my apps and internet. Even turning off wifi and using data, I still constantly run into that problem. Neither seem to work properly. This is also interfering with my text messages in that they are taking average of 4-6 minutes to send. Sometimes they don't even go through. I get the best reception is uncommon places like some parking structures but never seem to have reception at shopping centers or on a college campus. I don't know if it's just my phone but this has been an ongoing issue since I updated to the 8.0 software, I think it's up to 8.3 or something now. Does anyone else share these problems and at a consistent rate?

FFirst try a hard reboot.  Hold the power and home button until the phone cycles off, then on again.  Then release.
if that fails, try a reset to factory, then restore with iTunes or iCloud.

  • Time machine backup is very slow after migration to Mountain Lion

After I migrated to mountain lion, Time machine backup is very slow. Time machine preference says there is no previous back up although I had Time machine on before migration. It did not help verymuch to connect an ethernet cable between my timecapsule and my Macbook Pro
Here are the screenshots I see:
Should I erase the previous backup made on Lion before backing up on Mountain lion? in this case how do I transfer the Lion backup file on another disk just in case something goes wrong before I have a good backup under Mountain Lion? just like any other file?

After further reading on the forum, the problem was solved: I used the possibility to back up on a second disk (in the preferences Time Machine choose a disk and save on both disks) to make a back up on another usb disk, and then erased the old .sparsebundle file on my Time Capsule. I have then re defined time capsule as the back up disk and then the backup was muuuuuch faster (one night instead of less than 1 giga after 3 days.....)

    Mike...
Norton on a Mac? Worst possible scenario for the Mac OS X. Just disabling the software doesn't help.
If you feel the need to have anti virus software installed on a Mac use either Sohphos or ClamXav, both free.

  • Getting Slow after Migration to a new Mac

Every time, I've bought a new Mac and using Migration Assistant to migrate my data to new Mac. The new Mac is getting slower, not look like a hardware upgrade. For example, my Macbook Pro i5 needs more than 10 seconds to start MS Word while my MBA needs less than 2 seconds.
Will there so many scrap or unused data migrated from my old mac? And my "migration data" has been accumulated for several times since 5~6 years ago. I've used this "migration data" for every new Mac arrives. So, This is not the first time I've expereinced, this was happens several times when I bought a new Mac.
Please note that Spotlight Indexing is complete.
    Thanks.
    Regards,

Thanks for your suggestions. I've updated the software already (noticing that it was system, i-movie and garage band which were being updated) but that didn't help. Previously that did help for i-photo though.
Anyway, I tried the sudo thing, I got the following messages but still no i-movie :
updatedyld_sharedcache: warning mismatched install path in /System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle/Contents/Resources/MetadataLib.dy lib for /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib

    Any other ideas?

  • IPad mini incredibly slow after io8

SSo since I stalling io8....which took hours....my iPad Mini is wrecked.
It is now so so slow, despite my memory not being anywhere close to full. Certain apps have stopped working, even though they've updtated to fit in with io8. It's freezing constsntly, and when I type it takes a good few minutes for my text to show....this is like problems you have on an ancient comouter....shouldn't be happening to a four month old iPad.  At the moment its pretty ,unchanged useless, which is ridiculous after spending so much ,only only a few Months ago.
ANyone else experiencing problems? I apologise for the bad typing, this has taken ages to type up on my ipad.

I also have an iPad mini with iOS 8. I have not experienced any of the problems listed above, but my Wi-Fi connection is slow, I cannot create events in Calendar without problems, my Multitasking Gestures sometimes don't work, the Multitasking screen appears with a delay, and Keyboard shortcuts disappear after I restart my iPad.
The problem that I am experiencing with Calendar: When I try to create an all-day event, it will make the event start 1 day earlier than I specified and end on the correct date. So every time I create an all-day event, I have to go back to the event to correct the start date and move the end date back by 1 day. For example, if I created an all-day event for today only (20 September), it will instead create an event for 19-20 September.
The Multitasking Gestures problem mainly occurs when I want to access the Multitasking screen from the Home Screen. I swipe up with four fingers, but most of the time it doesn't work. When I double-click the Home button, I have to wait around 1 second before the Multitasking screen appears.
After I installed iOS 8, I noticed that my keyboard shortcuts were not working. I checked them in Settings and they were gone. I added them back, but after I restarted my iPad a few days later, I once again noticed that they were not working. As soon as I opened Settings, they appeared and have been working since.
I am hoping that Apple will fix these bugs, as they are rather annoying!

  • IPod incredibly slow after updating to iOS 6

My iPod Touch 4th Gen has become incredibly, unbelievably, miraculously (as Apple likes to call it) -- Slow.
I know the hardware is ancient, but Apple should have tested the software for releasing it on the 4th Gen. I know most of you would say they did, but can I ask why are games and applications crashing, whereas they didn't in iOS 5?
The real problem is I wish to downgrade my device to last iOS 5, but I simply can't. I want my device to be usable. The battery *****, interface lags, apps crash, that's just aweful. Is there any way I can downgrade to iOS 5?
    Thanks.

All we cansayin this Apple forumis that downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
    Now:
Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    Next try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
