JDeveloper 10g missing javadoc
I've downloaded JDeveloper 10g 10.1.3, went through the labs from the Oracle Developer Day, but there's no javadoc for many of the new packages!
If there's no doc included with JDeveloper, where can you learn about Oracle's implementation of javax.persistance? If I search Google, I get Hibernate's implementation, or other vendor's implementations.
I'm desperate for ORACLE's implementation, since that's what I intend to use.
EJBQL seems pretty limited - but with no doc, how am I to know?
As noted on the Oracle download website, 10.1.3 is an early access "preview" release. It is not a producation release and as such it is not fully documented. Wait until the production release officially due out by the end of this year for better documentation.
Potentially the JDeveloper team will be able to assist you further on these forums for documentation on javax.persistance.
Regards,
CM.

I finally deleted the MYSQL Database connection to the application. Still it doesnt work. Please help me as I really cant track why this is so.Hello,
Thank You very much for the solution. I had uninstalled the previous JDeveloper 10g installation and installed a new instance of the same. After which it worked without much of a problem.
However, my application requires to use MySQL database, so how do I tackle such an error. What was wrong with the connection? I mean MySQL instance seemed to work fine. Is there any version with which JDeveloper can work? Right now am using MySQL 5.0.? Please do advise. -
Missing JavaDoc in JDev 10.1.3 ?
When selecting oracle.sql.BLOB and browsing the javadoc the url is http://java.sun..com/j2ee/docs/api/oracle/sql/BLOB.html
This is obviously wrong (no documentation is returned)
What is the correct url for this javadoc ? I am using JDev 10.1.3 stusio versio
AndrewClick in front of a public method and you see a light bulb. Press this one and it will indicate missing Javadocs providing the option to create it
You can also go to the JDeveloper preferences and define an accelerator for adding Javadocs. Then whenever you select the method, press the defined keyboard combination and the doc will be created

JDeveloper 10g 10.1.3 Web Service Question: java web service calls another
I am looking for what I think should be a simple example/tutorial but so far no luck. I am using JDeveloper 10g 10.1.3 and the Oracle Application Server.
I want to do this:
- create a simple Java web service
- deploy it
- create another simple Java web service, that makes a call to a method on the first service
- deploy it
client->WSfront->WSback
I want to keep this as basic as possible.
Although I have found examples of how to create a web service proxy, there are no examples that I have found that show how to use that proxy in another web service:
I did what I thought were the right things; generated a proxy for the first web service, and used that proxy in the second web service's source Java class. However when I deployed and tested many classes were missing: all the classes the proxy class depends on.
I actually managed to get something like this working but had to manually create the .ear and .war files for WSfront, explode the archives, and manually add the missing classes to its WEB-INF/classes.
I am comparing this to things like Weblogic Workshop in which doing this exercise is a snap.
Is there a simple graphical way to do this in JDeveloper?Hello again,
I am quite surprised I got no responses to my query below.
Can anyone explain how I might do this?
Please feel free to respond to [email protected]

JAXWS 2.0 annotation MTOM policy ignored in JDeveloper 10g
Hi all,
I'm trying to generate a JAXWS 2.0 webservice with annotations in JDeveloper 10g, but the @MTOM policy is being ignored and the service does not generate an attachment.
This is my code:
package es.pruebaws.negocio;
import javax.ejb.Stateless;
import javax.jws.WebMethod;
import javax.jws.WebService;
import javax.xml.ws.soap.MTOM;
@Stateless
@WebService(name="PruebaWS")
@MTOM
public class PruebaServiceImpl implements PruebaService {
public PruebaServiceImpl() {
@WebMethod
public byte[] getSaludoMTOM(){
return "Hola caracola".getBytes();
The WSDL fragment generated is:
<element name="getSaludoMTOMResponse" type="tns:getSaludoMTOMResponse"/>
<complexType name="getSaludoMTOMResponse">
<sequence>
<element name="return" type="base64Binary" nillable="true"/>
</sequence>
</complexType>
I included the webservices.jar from JDK 6.0 - 13 to provide JAXWS to the project.
What I am missing? Is the generator included in JDeveloper 10g capable to generate the WSDL with JAXWS 2.0 annotation policies?
Thanks in advance.repost

ADF is not working in JDeveloper 10g
Hi all,
I've been trying to get ADF to work with JDeveloper 10g but to no avail. I've followed the steps from the following link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/how-to-adf-faces-10gjdev-085657.html
the only thing that i fail to follow is in creating the library. I have only the adf-faces-api.jar and adf-faces-impl.jar but not the share-1_1_18.jar
I do not know whether this is creating the problem as my error message is not helpful.
part of the error msg:

That was showing you how to use a very early version of ADF Faces (a pre-release, in fact) with a very old version of JDeveloper. That document is nearly 9 years old.
Starting with JDeveloper 10.1.3, ADF Faces is "built-in"
And since JDeveloper 10.1.3.x, we have had both the JDeveloper 11.1.1.x and 11.1.2.x series released.
Why are you still using 10.1.2.x? -

Drop Down Menu on Jdeveloper 10g - REVISED
Hello Gurus, I am using Jdeveloper 10g. I know that drop down menus are not supported in Jdeveloper10g/ADF and available from it's next release onwards which is Jdeveloper 11g. Hence, to develop drop down menus on a menu bar I am using HTML and Java script. The issue that I am facing - the horizontal menubar displays always on the top of the webpage overlapping other web page objects. This is not where we want to display the menu bar. Instead, it needs to show up somewhere on the middle of the web page. No matter what I do, it displays the menu bar on top most part of the web page. Always. Below is the code snippet. Any help in this regard is highly appreciated. Thank you for your time and efforts.

How to configure JMS queue on OC4J server. Development in JDeveloper 10G
Hi there,
I have to configure a JMS for an Asynchronous process in my Application which will be running in Oracle 10G Application Server. Development Environment is Oracle JDeveloper 10G.
I am facing a problem on how to configure JMS queue.
Steps Followed are:
in the <JDevloperHome>/j2ee/home/config
1. Made the new queue and connection factory's JMS entry in jms.xml.
2. Specifed the queue in oc4j-connectors.xml.
3. played around with application.xml
and tried all combinations, but the message producer always failed to lookup the queue.
Need help on the steps to follow so that the producer can post the message in the queue.
Also please help how to configure the MDB to listen to the queue.
Thanx and Regards
SubhamIf you were dealing with Oracle 10g app server as opposed to standalone, I might be better able to help you.
One thing though, when you are configuring your MDB in the orion-ejb-jar.xml file, do not forget to specify attribute listener-threads, otherwise no matter how many beans you have in your MDB pool, only one bean will be listening to the queue. Many listener-threads equal to max number of beans in pool. -
Problem in using JDeveloper 10g with JHeadstart
I am using JDeveloper 9.0.3 and jheadstart 9.0.4.5 and I would like to test jdeveloper 10g preview with JHeadstart.
So, I have downloaded the JDeveloper 10g to test it with my old application.
Having run the Jdeveloper for the first time, I realized that Jdeveloper
installed the jheadstart automatically and following message was shown in the message window :

So I try to test one of my old application with this configuration. After Jdeveloper migrated my workspace and projects and business componenet
to the newer version, I run the application generator. It worked fine without any problem but after running the application, I got an error page showing
that my bc4j.xcfg is not in the path.
On the other hand, I found out that when I wanted to view my UIX pages, 2 dialog boxes appeared. The first one asked to upgrade
to UIX 2.2's new expression language syntax and the other which is on the top of the first one, showing that UIX runtime failed to render the page
with following detail :

I think that I should have set some setting before use JHeadstart with JDeveloper.
Could anybody help me ?Alex,
The document Sandra referred to applies to JDeveloper 10g preview (9.0.5.0). JHeadstart 9.0.4.5 will NOT work with JDeveloper 109 production (9.0.5.1).
We plan to release a new version end of april that is compatible with 9.0.5.1. See this thread for more info: JDeveloper 10g production, status JHeadstart?

I can't find any tutorials or documentation in how to do this in the current version of Jdeveloper 10g or 11g.
All I could find was the Jdeveloper Wireless Extension 9.0.5 but this doesn't work in either versions.
Also I don't want to do browser apps or I would just do the Mobile ADF, I want to do MIdlets more specifically one that will connect to a Web Service.
If any one could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!Due to improvements in network coverage and communications, the need for a truly disconnected/on device application is diminishing. If your requirements can be mostly met with an online solution, I would recommend checking out ADF Mobile in 11g that support you to create a browser application optimized for mobile browsers.
What is the scenario that you are trying to support? Feel free to reply to this thread or to me directly. There are efforts in the works, and I'd like to hear what you are trying to build.
Thanks,
Joe Huang
