JDeveloper 10g: Preserving JSP Translations

Hello,
Can anyone tell me how to get JDeveloper 10g to preserve JSP page translations (in the \classes\.jsps folder)?
I'm new to JSP development and I am getting an error when making a JSP page that says that the request and session variables are not available when using something like:
<%! String var=(String) session.getAttribute("someAttribute"); %>
I figure that looking at the translated page will tell me a lot about my errors.
Thanks,
Rich

I managed to develop some functionality similar to what you both describe for a system that I have previously developed.
auto refresh a jsp page after x seconds
add a meta data refresh tag to the top of the jsp page that will automatically recall the servlet after x number of seconds. e.g.
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="2;url=http://servlet.do">
display a processing page whilst a query is being executed
from the submit button of a page, display a processing graphic on a page until the query has finished and then display the results page.
As with most things in Java this can be done many ways; I implemented this a couple of ways;
a) display the processing page when the submit button is pressed and then when the servlet has finished executing get it to post the results to another page
b) use a java bean that the servlet updates when the query has been completed so that the processing page knows to forward on to the results page
I hope this is of some use to you.
Thanks
David

  • JDeveloper 10g: Preserving Translated JSP when making?

    Hello,
    Can anyone tell me how to get JDeveloper 10g to preserve JSP page translations (in the \classes\.jsps\ folder) when there is an error in the compile of the generated servlet?
    I am new to JSP development and I am getting an error when making a JSP page that says that the request and session variables are not available when using something like:
    <%! String var=(String) session.getAttribute("someAttribute"); %>
    I have not dissabled sessions using a page directive.
    I am hoping that I will gain a lot more insight by looking at the generated servlet code.
    Thank you,
    Rich

    Hi, the compilation of the JSPs before building the WAR file is a there to help you finding problems/errors before deployment. You should take them serious and resolve them before the deployment.
    What kind of errors do you get?

    There is a project on J2EE.
    JDeveloper 10g rejects to export .ear, .war и .jar (EJB jar), it complains about a JSP page, it writes the follwing:

    Error(4,14): Attribute 'xmlns:xsi' used but not declared.

    That is it complains about descriptors, but I the descriptors must be OK.
    How can I get it working to export .war and .ear successfully?
    May be I should switch off some checks?

    Hi Gyan,
    Any Idea how to get DB connection for JSP Pages.
    Our Java guys developed one JSP page for Login page.
    After Log in instead of standard responsibilites page we calling custom jsp page, For getting DB connection they defined one properties file and hard coded DB details on that file and calling, but client is not accepting hard coding.
    Pls give any idea for getting DB connection directly in JSP pages.

  • JSP ADF Tree Binding in JDeveloper 10g

    I am attempting to create a JSP hierarchical tree structure in JDeveloper 10g. I can successfully create the tree structure for two levels only. I need to be able to create a tree 5 or more levels deep. I have created an ADF Master Detail structure using the sample OE schema for three levels and to the best of my knowledge, I have set up the rules correctly using the Tree Binding Editor accessed by a creating a new binding under Create Binding > Input > Tree for the UIModel of the test web application I created. However, in the JSP page, I can only access the first two levels. The code I'm using is as follows:
    <c:forEach var="masterRow" items="${bindings.CustomerOrdersTree.rootNodeBinding.children}">
    <c:out value="${masterRow.CustomerId}"/> -
    <c:out value="${masterRow.CustFirstName}"/>
    <c:out value="${masterRow.CustLastName}"/><br>
    <c:forEach var="ordersChildRow" items="${masterRow.children}">
    <c:out value="${ordersChildRow.OrderId}"/><br>
    <c:forEach var="Row2" items="${ordersChildRow.children}">
    </c:forEach>
    </c:forEach>
    </c:forEach>
    The first two levels display fine, but the third level is not displaying. What syntax should I be using to traverse further levels of the tree binding? Is it even possible? Thanks.
    Note: I didn't connect any event handlers for collapsing or expanding data. I'm just trying to display everything right now.

    I have the nodeExpanded attribute on the second level, set up exactly as the first level. I have a toggleSelection method on the second level (View Object) as well. I've stepped through this method and the arguments are passed correctly and the transient attribute is updated correctly. I'm calling this method through a second DataAction like treeHandler, and this works as far as calling the correct method with the correct argument values.
    The breakdown occurs back on the JSP. Even though the transient attibute gets populated accurately according to the toggleSelection method, when accessing that attribute on the JSP, it returns a null value. I can access all the other attributes from the same View Object, except for the transient attribute. I'm not sure what else to try.
    I'm starting to doubt this is even the best solution for a tree structure. With the way Oracle's example is set up, you would have to nest so many if-then structures in order to keep track of all the nodeExpanded attributes and which data to display or not, and I anticipate view state issues and caching problems.

  • JDeveloper 10g production, status JHeadstart?

    Dear all,
    As is mentioned on the JDeveloper site, 10g is finally in production (version 9.0.5.1, build 1605).
    Does this have impact on the JHeadstart release?
    Is the latest JHeadstart release already working with this version?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ralph Deguelle

    Ralph and others,
    At this moment JHeadstart 10g (9.0.4.5) is not yet certified against the JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.1) production release. Of course we plan to certify as soon as possible. Our target release date for this certification is the 29th of April. The version number for this JHeadstart 10g release will be the same as for JDeveloper: 9.5.0.1. We will publish this release on the supplement option folder for the license holders and on OTN for people that want to evaluate JHeadstart. For a list of planned new features see below.
    In addition to this release we have planned another release JHeadstart 10g 10.0.1 (version number may change) that will support Oracle ADF. In this release JHeadstart will fully allign with ADF and we plan to include lots of new features that will enable you to generate more quickly and more advanced layout styles. For a list of planned features see below. Planned release date for 10.0.1 is end of June. Supplement Option holders will be able to acquire this release through the supplement option.
    NEW FEATURES JHEADSTART 10g 9.0.5.1
    The JHeadstart 10g (9.5.0.1) release will include the following new features:
    - description on how to use Toplink in combination with JHeadstart
    - improvements in the Toplink deployment code so no post generation is necessary
    - Generation of regions in JSP's
    - Link from the Application Structure Editor to the BC4J property editor to more easily record meta data on the different levels
    - Link from the Application Structure Editor to the JHeadstart Application Generator to quickly generate your application without having to leave the editor
    - Added poplist to properties region and domain in the bc4j property editor to prevent typing errors.
    - Bug fixes, a complete list will be made available in the readme of
    NEW FEATURES PLANNED FOR JHEADSTART 10g (10.0.1)
    Below you can find a list of the features that we plan to include in the 10.0.1 release. This list is not complete yet. We plan to publish a viewlet in the coming weeks
    - complete allignment with Oracle ADF
    - automatic generation of Application Structure File based on the ADF Business Components.
    - quick search
    - advanced search and option to publish result in same page
    - all master-detail layout combinations
    - unlimited nesting of groups
    - actions items (custom buttons and links)
    - more refined mechanism to preserve post generation modification
    - flexible JSP template mechanism that provides you full control of the generated look and feel including the layout
    - large number of smaller enhancements

    Check the page function and make sure that you are providing all the parameters for page functions. Also make sure that it is the page where the process starts and it is not expecting any value from any other page.

    Hi,
    That is definitely a product manager - positioning question (forum ID: oalonso), so I'd recommend that you ask the same question in the SES forum. The Text team has been monitoring that forum and answering most of the posts there, so you'd probably be more likely to get your question answered.

  • How to force Jdeveloper to preserve existing sources directory structure?

    Hi all,
    I have JDeveloper 9.0.3.4 which I have to use.
    I tried to import to project from existing sources and I tried to keep existing sources
    directory structure by selection option "Scan source paths to determine project contents" which should (according to documentation) preserve existing directory structure and show it in the Navigator.
    But instead I get always (Jdev default?) directory structure:
    Sources
    HTML Sources
    Miscelaneous Files
    I changed default settings for Input path in project settings and for default project settings but still I get this Jdev structure.
    Is there a way to force JDeveloper to preserve the directory structure of sources it imports from?
    Many thanks,
    Mile

    I'd like to be able to specify the default project directory structure in 10g as well. For example I would like to have under the project root:
    build.xml
    src\
    generatedsrc\
    config\
    resources\
    build\
    deploy\
    Generating an ant build.xml using the wizard should also take into account the directory structure being used by the JDeveloper project build. I don't see why I should have to modify the build.xml file at all.

    For a simple stand-alone java application, it worked.
    I have sun jdk 1.4.2 on Fedora Core 3.
    Don't know if there are similar bug reports, I searched this forum for "10.1.3" but the search page stays like that for ~2 minutes, then stops without showing anything.

    Hello Frank,
    Thank you for your suggestion. I tried that and I got the same error. Looked more careful at it:
    Exception java.io.IOException: /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc: cannot execute
    I tried to execute it manually:
    $ l /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 marius marius 1.9k Dec 2 19:20 /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc
    $ /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc
    bash: /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc: Permission denied
    Did
    $ chmod a+x /my/home/data/opt/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ojc
    which solved the execution. Now Hello word works.
    I got jdeveloper as a .zip archive, which doesn't keep unix permissions. The Linux distribution should be in .tgz archive, it would have avoided this problem.
    Thanks!

  • Errors to use JSTL Tag in JDeveloper 10g

    Hi, folks in JDeveloper:
    I have a problem to use JSTL in JDeveloper 10g.
    In jsp file: detail.jsp, I include tag library like this:
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jstl/core" prefix="c"%>
    When I compile/run, the system complain the following errors:
    Error(4): java.io.FileNotFoundException: /http:/java.sun.com/jstl/core
    Error(4): Unable to load taghandler class: http://java.sun.com/jstl/core
    I already put standard.jar and jstl.jar file in WEB-INF/lib directory. I use jakata-struts jstl 1.0
    Anybody know how to fix that?
    Many thanks.

    User,
    You should configure the taglibs using the project->libraries option in JDev. If that doesn't help, try adding the taglib URI mappings to web.xml as detailed [url http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=650000&messageID=3823804]here
