JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 weblogic server upgrade

What steps must i take to upgrade a weblogic 10.3.1 server with a 11.1.1.1 ADF domain to 11.1.1.2? Is there a way to upgrade a domain to the latest version?
Kind Regards,
Andre

From my experience i would just launch the install of the new JDev in your bea home.
Than i would start the domain configuration wizard to see if there are extra libs to extend your domain...
I would assume that with the install of the new JDev the libs will be available there.... If not let me know.
If they are available there I would suggest creating a new domain because I don't think a domain upgrade is possible or recommended...

Gert

  • Query about the steps for Weblogic Server Upgrade from 8.1 to 10.3

    Hi!
We have planned to upgrade our Weblogic Server from 8.1 to 10.3. Could anyone advise me:
    1. How to upgrade the Weblogic Server from 8.1 to 10.3? Can the Weblogic Server 10.3 coexist with the Weblogic Server 8.1 in one physical server?
    2. Where can the upgrade software be downloaded?
    3. We have a web service currently running under Weblogic Workshop as the Weblogic Server is started via the workshop. Can this web service be run under Weblogic Server 10.3?
    4. Are there any foreseeable issues/problems that will happen?
Please kindly help me. Thanks a lot.

    Download location: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/wls_main.html
You can upgrade the domain after you install wls 10.3 using QuickStart.
When we migrated we have moved from windows to linux. We have installed, created domain, created managed servers, configured, etc. from scratch. We didn't face any 'show stopper' issues.

  • Weblogic Server upgrade along with Forms & Reports

    Hi Gurus,
I would need some help on upgrading one our Weblogic server from 10.3.2 to 10.3.6. Also, we have forms & reports ( version: 11.1.1.2 ) configured on this server and we would have to upgrade this to version: 11.1.2.1
Can you please help me or point me to a good document to do this.
I am a DBA and my weblogic experience is very little.
    Thanks

    Hi Prakash,
First, very smart decision to move to 11gR2 Forms - performance is much better in 11gR2. Customers i've worked with, are very happy with it compared to 11gR1.
Now, if you want to upgrade from 11gR1 (11.1.1.2) to 11gR2 Forms (11.1.2.1), I would do a new install. Simply because, there is no simple/straight-forward Architecture upgrade path from 11gR1 to 11gR2 Forms. And the installation will also be a clean isntall. Don't worry about your forms/reports source code, you can just recompile no problem in 11gR2 Forms.
If you want to do a re-install heres some things to consider:
1.) Update and/or Install an Oracle certified JDK - you can verify the correct JDK in the certification matrix provided by oracle: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/oracle-forms-11gr2certmatrix-519680.xls
2.) Verify your OS is certified with Forms 11gR2
3.)Install WLS in a new middleware Home.
4.) At his point, you should install the Oracle Forms 11gR2 Binaries Home in your new 10.3.6 Middleware Home.
5.) Optional: If you want the same exact ports as 11gR1 Forms installation - you'll have to shutdown all the 11gR1 Forms/Reports processes- OPMN Processes, WLS_FORMS, WLS_REPORTS, AdminServer.
5.) Run the Forms 11gR2 Configuration Wizard to install and configure a new Forms 11gr2 domain.
6.) After the configuration wizard completes successfully:
    - Migrate over your formsweb.cfg/env settings
    - Migrate ORACLE_HOME customizations
    - Definitely install/configure webutil components
    - Migrate over any other additional customizations
If you run into any weird issues, check out my companies knowledge base, its full of installation knowledge: http://pitss.com/us/knowledgebase/
    Hope this helps!

  • Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 weblogic server choice

    Hi,
We are planning to upgrade from jdeveloper 11.1.1.4 to 11.1.1.6. The ambiguity me face is that jdev comes bundled with weblogic 10.3.5. With the expected was 10.3.6. I found articles like the below that this version supports both of them.
    http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2012/02/23/jdeveloper-11-1-1-6-0-aka-fusion-middleware-11gr1-patch-set-5-is-available/
    https://blogs.oracle.com/onesizedoesntfitall/entry/adf_runtimes_vs_wls_versions
......... But all of them seems to be in a ambiguity. Please anyone let me know if there is a problem in using jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 for development and 10.3.6 for stand alone server. thought it can be coupled.

    Hi Timo
I am facing an issue after upgrading to Jdev 11.1.1.6 from Jdev 11.1.1.4
Our application was running fine when our Standalone/Production WLS was 10.3.4.
We were successfully able to deploy our EAR and run our application in both the integrated and standalone version of WLS 10.3.4
However after migrating to 11.1.1.6 and when trying to deploy our EAR to a Standalone/production WLS 10.3.6 we are getting the below error
Unable to access the selected application.
    Exception in AppMerge flows' progression
    Exception in AppMerge flows' progression
    Unmarshaller failed
However we are successfully able to deploy to the integrated server.
Then again 11.1.1.6 comes bundled with a 10.3.5 WLS
Any ideas on what is causing the issue?

I want to migrate my application from oc4j to weblogic server. i have oc4j related deployment descriptors like Orion-ejb-jar.xml, Orion-application.xml etc.
For getting weblogic related deployment descriptors from oc4j ear(containing oc4j related descriiptors) , i used SmartUpgrade utility along with JDeveloper. Also i also tried SmartUpgrade command line utility.
But i did not get Web Logic related descriptors i.e weblogic-ejb-jar etc.
Please guide me regarding above issue.
Also, tell me , is there any other utility to get weblogic related descriptors.

I selected the following products to include in the domain - Oracle JRF WebServices Asynchronous services, Oracle JRF - 11.1.1.0, Weblogic Advanced Web Services JAX-RPC, and Weblogic advanced web services for JAX-WS.
    3. Create a JSF hello world app in jdeveloper and deploy to Integrated weblogic server. It works.
    4. Now deploy the same JSF hello world app from jDeveloper to a Remote/standalone weblogic server. It fails.
It is the same application source code and also, the weblogic standalone domain was created from the same jDeveloper installation. I also verified that the deployed libs in the two weblogic servers are identical.
    Appreciate any help, inputs.
    Thanks.

You are confusing me a bit. You want to ran an app on a stand alone WLS, but installed JDev11.1.2.1?
Normally you install a WLS (10.3.5 in your case) and then need to install two patches (only available via support) to make the stand alone WLS compatible to 11.1.2.1.
Here is a post which shows which wls corresponds to which jdev: http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/09/14/jdeveloper-versions-vs-weblogic-server-versions/
Here is one on how to install the stand alone WLS and patch it to 11.1.2.1 level: http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/06/29/follow-up-upgrading-wls-10-3-5-with-adf-runtime-11-1-2-0-0-sherman-patch/

  • Find Weblogic server is Enterprise or Standard Edition

    Hi,
I need to find if the Weblogic server version in my windows server is standards or enterprise edition.
My  weblogic version 10.3.6.0 which was configured earlier and now we have got the enterprise version lisence
    Regards,
    Gaurav

    Hi,
There is only one WebLogic Server software download. Whether you need a WebLogic Server Enterprise Edition or a WebLogic Suite license depends on whether you use the premium components which are included in the WebLogic Server Enterprise Edition or WebLogic Suite licenses.
For WebLogic Server 11g, the packaging is as follows:
    WebLogic Server Standard Edition:
                 includes WebLogic Server
                             Kodo Enterprise
                             TopLink and ADF
                             JDeveloper
                             Enterprise Pack for Eclipse
    WebLogic Server Enterprise Edition:
                 includes WebLogic Server Standard Edition
                              + Clustering
                              +Enterprise Manager Diagnostics Pack
    WebLogic Suite:
                 includes WebLogic Server Enterprise Edition
                              + Coherence EE
                              + JRockit Real Time
                              + Management Pack for Coherence
                              + iAS EE (on WebLogic)
                              + WL Operations Control

  • Upgrading Weblogic server to move from jdeveloper 11.1.1.1.0 to 11.1.1.4.0

Hello, I would need clear direction to what I should do to upgrade my target weblogic server when I move my development environment from jdeveloper 11.1.1.1.0 to 11.1.1.4.0
Initial ADF project was developed with jdeveloper 11.1.1.1.0 and deployed on a WLS 10.3.0
Now we are upgrating the application and we decided to move the project to jdeveloper 11.1.1.1.4
I need help on what I should upgrade on the target WLS server.
How do we move from WLS 10.3.0 to WLS 10.3.4?
Is it a reinstall or a upgrade? How do we upgrade?
And what about just upgrating the ADF run time? Is it the way to go?
    At following link we see
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/downloads/index.html there is a Application development runtime is it the runtime that we install on the server or not?
I am confused if the ADF run time is tied with the WLS version or not, can someone give me a clear description of what is the ADF Runtime and how we upgrade it on the servers? Any Oracle documentation describing this process that I can provide to my server administrators?
At the end what is the best practice to upgrade the WLS servers when you would lilke to move like me from an older version of jdeveloper to a newer version. is there an Oracle document describing the steps to be done?
    Thanks

I'll echo Timo's question - why upgrade to 11.1.1.4 and not to the latest and greatest 11.1.1.6 (released yesterday)?
Upgrading to an older version basically means that you are setting yourself for another upgrade later on - so why not enjoy all the bug fixes and new features of the newer versions?
In terms of the upgrade process - if you look in the documentation tab of JDeveloper you'll see the book "Upgrade Guide for Oracle SOA Suite, WebCenter, and ADF" which gives the steps you can follow.
For 11.1.1.6 the book is here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/upgrade.1111/e10127/toc.htm
In the same documentation tab you'll find the certification matrix that explains which ADF version works with which WLS version:

  • Upgrade EclipseLink in Embedded WebLogic Server (JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0)

Currently I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0 for my project, which comes with EclipseLink v1.2 pre-installed. However, my project requires to use latest EclipseLink version 2.0. I added EclipseLink 2.0 into Libraries and Classpath setting in project property. However, when I ran my app by using embedded WebLogic Server, my app is still using the old EclipseLink v1.2. I already tried to copy EclipseLink 2.0 jar file into DefaultDomain/lib directory and ear library directory. But embedded weblogic server still using old version from modules directory. Could anyone tell me how I could solve this issue. Thanks!

WebLogic comes pre-configured with TopLink's provided EclipseLink Library as a system module. You cannot upgrade this to 2.0 in a support fashion. The next release of WebLogic will include EclipseLink 2.0(.x).
If you want to test your application's use of EclipseLink 2.0 using JPA 1.0 application managed EntityManagers you can package the 2.0 library in your EAR and use the filtered classloader config setup in the weblogic-application.xml to ensure the packaged library is used instead of the system module.

  • Upgrading BEA-Workhop artifacts to newer versions of the Weblogic server

    Hi,
We have a WLI 8.1 stack where we have deployed the artifacts(ears) developed using the BEA Workshop. BEA Weblogic 8.1 SP4 is being used as the Application server currently. We are currently looking out for the possibility to migrate to a newer version of the weblogic server for the obvious reasons.
The problem is that we have a lot of reusable code that we want to redeploy on the new version of the weblogic server without going into the costs of redevloping the newer integrations. I want to understand if at all it is possible to move the current workshop artifacts on the newer version of the Weblogic server. I have a vague idea that this could be done some how by using JDeveloper but I am not realy sure on how to go forward with this.
Could any one inform me on how this could be achieved or Is there a plan on how this could be done.
Any help on this front will be higly appriciated.
    regards,
    Prakhar

But it doesn't list the server while deploying the application.
I don't see the issue in my office network. But I encounter this problem when I work at my home.
Ideally it should show the following lines after server is started:
    DefaultServer startup time: 195467 ms.
    DefaultServer started.
This is not happening if i run the server without network.
How can I fix this problem?
    Thanks
    Ravi

I see some message about a proxy. Have you checked that you can use the proxy from you network?
If not you should turn the proxy off.
