JDeveloper 11.1.2 install on Oracle Linux 6 U1 64 bit
I am trying to install jDeveloper on Oracle Linux 6 U1 (6.1) and keep getting a variety of errors. I know that jDeveloper does not support 64 bit Operating Systems very well. However with the majority of new systems being 64 bit and the memory limitations of 32 bit is jDeveloper going to move into the next century and support 64 bit jvm's and operating systems natively? When will this happen?

I've been running JDev using 64-bit JDKs on OS X and Linux for a few years without issue.
You might be having issues with JDeveloper on Oracle Linux 6, however - the WebLogic install scripts, etc. do not include support for Oracle Linux 6 as of yet, nor Java 7.
Take a look at the certification matrix for operating systems and Java versions in JDeveloper:

Oracle R12.1.2 install on oracle linux 6.3
Hi,
i have installing Oracle R12.1.2 install on oracle linux 6.3 (VIS instance ) but it has fail end of the installation with following error code
sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libclntsh.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Thank you
ThilinaHi Thilina,
Please confirm you have installed all the rpms mentioned as per the notes provided by Hussein. Please verify whether you have installed all the rpms mentioned in the per-requisite setup by command:
rpm -qa | grep <rpm_name>*
In addition, please upgrade your rapidwiz when installing especially on OEL 6 as most of the issues are addressed in the latest rapidwiz and perform a fresh installation.:
https://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/entry/new_rapid_install_startcd_12
Please also provide the output of:
find / -name libclntsh* (as root user)
A workaround is mentioned in this site, Please check whether this helps you and let us know:

Fail installing OBIEE 11g on Oracle Linux 5 64 bits
Hello,
I am trying to install OBIEE 11g over Oracle Linux 5 (64 bits), but I can't. I have the following issue:
INST-07008: Validation of Oracle Home location failed. User does not have permission to create home/instance location
INST-07282: Specified Middleware home location does not exist
In the Oracle Middleware Home, I have specified "/root/Oracle/Middleware".
I have following these steps:
1) Install Oracle DB 11g R2 (OK)
2) Install jdk for Linux 64 bits (OK)
3) Install weblogic
I have done the installation as "root" user
Middleware Home Directory = /root/oracle/Middleware (OK)
4) Install RCU as root (OK)
5) Install OBI 11g
To execute ./runInstaller it is necessary be as oracle user.
I have changed permissions in /root/Oracle/Middleware (chmod 777), but the issue is the same.
I appreciate any idea to solve the issue.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Monica.Hello,
no, I have installed OBIEE as oracle user with software only option, with root isn't possible.
So, I don't know if it is necessary I installed WebLogic as oracle user to have permission in middleware path...

Installing JDK6u2532bits on Oracle Linux v6 64 bits
Hello,
I am having some dependency issues when trying to install JKD32bits on OEL 6 64 bits.
When using the self-extracting JDK package I get the following error:
$ sh jdk-6u25-linux-i586.bin
Unpacking...

Extracting...
jdk-6u25-linux-i586.bin: ./install.sfx.9485: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory
Failed to extract the files. Please refer to the Troubleshooting section of
the Installation Instructions on the download page for more information.Apparently 32 bits glibc should be installed so I download the following packages:
glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i686.rpm
glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i686.rpm
When trying to install glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i686.rpm I get this error:
$ rpm -i glibc-2.3.2-27.9.7.i686.rpm

glibc-common <= 2.3.2-63 conflicts with tzdata-2010l-1.el6.noarchI would like to know which is the best way to proceed from here.
Will yum install the right dependencies? The server is not connected to internet so I would have to use the DVD as the source of packages.
Any comments?
Thanks
AngelThanks for you reply. It actually helped to get this sorted out.
I managed to install the 32bt HotSpot in OLE64, doing the following steps:
1) Downloaded glibc-2.12-1.7.el6.i686.rpm (from http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL6/0/base/i386/glibc-2.12-1.7.el6.i686.rpm)
2) Downloaded the dependency libfreebl3-3.12.9-4.3.i586.rpm (from ftp://195.220.108.108/linux/opensuse/distribution/11.4/repo/oss/suse/i586/libfreebl3-3.12.9-4.3.i586.rpm)
Then run the following:
$ rpm -i glibc-2.12-1.7.el6.i686.rpm libfreebl3-3.12.9-4.3.i586.rpmTo install both at the same time.
Then:
$ sh jdk-6u25-linux-i586.binAnd it did it!:
$ ./jdk1.6.0_25/bin/java -version
java version "1.6.0_25"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_25-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 20.0-b11, mixed mode)Many thanks for your help.

I was wondering if anyone was able to do a net install. I just tried it with the following setup:
- Virtual Box running on CentOS 5.4 32 bit
- Oracle Linux 5.5 iso cd image 1
- Local YUM repo synchronized with Oracle latest channel
At install time I get the following message:
"Unable to read package metadata...Cannot retieve repository metadata for anaconda-base-201004051458.xml. Please verify it's path and try again."
Unfortunately this package is not in in my YUM repo. Thanks.A network install requires the entire contents of the installation cd's on the server, including "hidden" files like .discinfo, not just a yum repository. Easiest thing to do is download the installation DVD, and either mount it (-o loop,ro) or extract the iso, and make it available via http, ftp or nfs.

Oracle 11gR2 on Oracle Linux 6 64 bit
Hi all,
I am a newbie on oracle so i posted this thread because i needed some help installing oracle 11gR2 on Oracle Linux using command line
This is for testing purposes.
I did all the prerequisites by oracle for the operating system.
I finished installing the database software from the setup ./runinstaller using x-terminal
I think i configured well the listener, because i can access the database using simple with pl/sql
The problem i have is with the dbconsole wich is accessed from the browser. I can't open it. from google chrome is says : This webpage is not available
Any help would be appreciated
Sorry for my english
It's not my native language
Be kind to check my site:
http://lajm-shqip.com/Pl identify exact version of "11gR2"
Currently only 11.2.0.3 is certified to be installed on Linux 6 - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/relnotes.112/e23558/toc.htm#CHDFHIEA
If you are installing 11.2.0.1 or 11.2.0.2, you will need to use Linux 5.x
Has database control been configured ?

OTM 6.3 Instalation On Oracle Linux 6.5 - Help Needed
HI All,
I am trying to install OTM 6.3, including FTI
I have 3 servers
VSS-DB-SERVER ==> Oracle 11.2.0 DB (Transaction Type)
VSS-OTM-SERVER ==> JRocket, Weblogic Server, OHS, OTM 6.3
VSS-BI-DB-SERVER ==> Oracle 11.2.0 DB (Data Warehouse Type), OBI, ODI
I have OTM installation guide E38416-04 but I am little confused with it as it gives a different combination example. But it talks about about installing everything in the same instance on VM and many things differ. And also it doesnt talk about FTI.

Upgrade Lab with Oracle Linux 5.4 installed to Oracle Linux 6.3
Dear Experts,
I hope to upgrade a lab of 30 PC have got OEL 5.4 installed, to have OEL 6.3
What is the fastest (automated) installation method to accomplish that.
Best Regards
Mahmoud RabieI think you just need to press the tab key at the install options window (there is a 60 second countdown) and add ks=http://<server>/path/to/kickstart to the kernel parameter line.
But why bother at all with the current upgrade strategy? Why not implementing common virtualization solutions, like free Oracle VM VirtualBox. Are your student PC's ancient or or not suitable? Why implement old fashioned system administration and deny yourself the huge benefit of virtualized systems. Virtualization like VirtualBox will give you efficient and painless features to easily manage system installations on your student systems, including the option to run multiple operating systems on a singly computer. You can easily restore your student systems to specific installation and configuration presets in seconds prior to every lab by using built-in snapshot restore technologies, as well as easily cloning and deploying your systems. -
Issues with installing unixODBC (Oracle linux 6)
"4.5 Compiling the Oracle ODBC Driver Demos
If you plan to compile and run the Oracle ODBC Driver demos, then follow these steps:
1.
If you do not have unixODBC DriverManager installed, then download it from the following Web site:
http://www.unixodbc.org/
2.
Set the ODBCDM_HOME environment variable to point to the directory where you installed DriverManager.
3.
Run the following make file to compile the Oracle ODBC Driver demos:
make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=DriverManager_location
When trying to execute this :
make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=DriverManager_location
[root@localhost ~]# cd /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/rdbms/demo
[root@localhost demo]# make -f demo_xe.mk buildodbcdemo ODBCDM_HOME=/opt/unixODBC-2.3.1
make: *** No rule to make target `odbcdemo.o', needed by `buildodbcdemo'. Stop.
Obviously the the file is missing what now ? Do I need to do this part of the cookbook anyway?
Ive installed it through the repo tho:
P.S. OK, dl-ed from the repo
