JDeveloper 11g and JDK 1.4.2_16
Hi! I just created a new simple app in JDev 11g and selected the JDK 1.4.2_16 for the model project. I created a set of business components from tables, built the project and them attempted to run the AppModule tester.
I got the following error:

Am I to assume that jdk1.4.x is no longer supported in JDeveloper and that I should start using JDK1.5.x? But apps built with JDK1.5.x are not supported in AppServer 10.1.2.0.2, which is J2EE 1.3 compliant... Does that mean that JDeveloper 11g is suitable only for apps deployed on OAS 10.1.3.x and above? (OAS 10.1.3.x is J2EE 1.4 compliant, and OAS 11g will be J2EE 5.x compliant).
Comments please.
Thx!
be on OracleAs 10.1.3 at a minimum<<The problem (for us) with Oracle AS 10.1.3 is that Portal 10.1.4 will not run on it (not certified). We want to take advantage of ADF RC and we hope to be able to produce JSF portlets or "portletized" apps. But at the moment we are "stuck" with 10.1.2.0.2 and JDK 1.4.x/J2EE1.3...
While you can have a 10.1.2 farm and add a 10.1.3 separate instance it is not a clean/complete integration (you can't manage all services from the 10.1.2 farm EM and others; this is what I've seen so far, IMO).
We can't wait for OAS 11g to come out and take a look at that. And I certainly hope that Portal will be certifed on 11g so that we can just jump there.
Another wish: WebCenter functionality in Portal, or Portal/WebCenter rolled out into one.

i read the Oracle JDeveloper 11g Installation Guide and in "11 Using WebLogic Server with Oracle JDeveloper"
"Installing Oracle JDeveloper Studio 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) also automatically installs Oracle WebLogic Server 10g Release 3 (10.3). Oracle JDeveloper uses this preconfigured installation as the Integrated WLS, a Oracle JDeveloper-managed server for testing and debugging your applications from within the IDE. *After installing Oracle JDeveloper, everything you need to begin developing, testing and debugging web applications is installed and configured for you; no additional configuration steps are necessary for development purposes.*"
my environment is:
OS -> fedora 10
Ram -> 4gb

Hi,
is there any problem when running on java 6 (or 6u1). Install instruction is only for java 5.
Would java 6 be supported?
Thanks,
Uros.Just attempted to use TP2 with J6 ... Are you aware that this issue still exists in the TP2 release. It makes the whole release unusable when it comes to any swing development.... I think the wording "Exception" is an understatement in this case! It tells you where swing stands compared to JSF. Some of us use the product for the "real world" need of both.
The one known issue related to JDK 6.0 and the 11g Tech Preview of which I am aware is documented in the release notes addendum here:
"Exception using the Swing Visual Designer and Property Inspector running JDeveloper 11g under JDK 1.6.0"

Hi, We are beginner in JDev. and ADF and Oracle as well.. we are developing a PENSION software for an organization as an Internee ... we have a less time and our timelines are getting close ..Whenever We Insert into the database it overrides the previous record .. we are using this tutorial Developing Rich Web Applications With Oracle ADF http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_55/jdtut_11r2_55_1.html but at the end Its run and update in JDEVELOPER MODEL TESTER but cannot update in JSF page in Web browser and cant update in XE database also
we also follow instructions in these 2 blog posts
JDeveloper 11g and Oracle XE 10g and have done the commit button and have done changing its properties
please respond earlier
REGARDSWe are using JDeveloper and Xe database ( 11g R2 ) , Oracle ADF , Xe database
how have you configured your commit button : JDeveloper 11g and Oracle XE 10g
and how are you instering a row : ->> When we insert in JDEV debug app.tester it will work fine and also make changes to XE DB as well , but when we RUN app in Browser and add a field or record it will override the previous one

Can't Run JDeveloper 11g on JDK 6_13 for Windows 64-bit
Hi all,
When I attempt to run JDeveloper 11g (base install), and select my java.exe file from my JDK 6_13x64 installation I get the following error message:
"Unable to find Java Virtual Machine.
"To point to a location of a Java Virtual Machine, please refer to the Oracle9i JDeveloper Install Guide (jdev\install.html)."
In addition to the incorrect version number, the JDeveloper Install Guide makes no mention of this problem. I've found a few posts on this forum where people had this problem, but they're all pretty old, and none of them got satisfactory answers. A few possibilities mentioned in those posts that I've eliminated are as follows:
- I've confirmed that this is, indeed, the JDK, not just a JRE.
- This is the production version of JDeveloper 11g, not a technical preview, so it shouldn't require 1.5.
- There are no spaces in the paths to either the JDK or JDeveloper.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
Thanks much,
AvromThanks, Shay. That does seem to work, and will suffice as a workaround for now. But are there plans to make JDeveloper compatible with the 64-bit edition of Java? It would be nice to get what I assume is a substantial performance enhancement from using it.
10:06 PM: Actually, it doesn't work very well. JDeveloper will start, but it has a lot of stability problems; it seems to freeze at 100% CPU usage (well, 25%, but I'm on a quad processor) at the drop of a hat, such as when I minimize, walk away for 90 minutes, and come back--once it even did it just when I tried to create a new application. I've installed this version of JDev on a 32-bit system and have found it to be generally quite stable, so I assume this is a problem with my setup.

Hi everyone.
I have just installed JDeveloper 11g on my 64bit CentOS machine and everything worked as expected.
Then I tried to use my 64bit JDK version 1.6.0.10 and after a little bit of tampering with the installation directories I was able to do that too.
All it took was to link the $JDEV_HOME/jdk160_05 directory to the location of the actual JDK installation.
To be honest I did not notice any changes in terms of speed.
So my question is whether a 64 bit JDK is officially supported and if the whole 64 bit issue is worth it at all.
ThanassisHi,
JDeveloper is on JDK 1.5, How can I configure it to be 1.4??
I had the JDeveloper 10.1.3 also and it went ahead with some updates and now even that shows me that it's version is JDK 1.5
The latest error I get from JDeveloper(From both 11g and 10.1.3) is here,

One possibility for the deployment failure is that the target Database may not support JDK version 1.5. Updating your Project Properties compiler Source & Target to an earlier release could fix this problem.
How can I either downgrade JDK on the compiler(JDeveloper) to be 1.4 or, How can I resolve the error,

Hi all,
I am new to JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.3) and BPEL. As such, I cannot find the tools to create a new BPEL application with JDeveloper 11g.
When I installed the updates for SOA via the check updates, it still does not list the BPEL application palette tools. If anyone can help me to find these
BPEL tools with JDeveloper 11g, would appreciate your help.Make sure when you start up JDeveloper, select "Default Role" when enables all technologies. Some role like "Java Edition" may filter out the SOA technologies by default.
If you have installed the update for SOA properly, you should be able to select "SOA Application" when you create a new application.
When you walk through the create application steps, you can pick "Composite with BPEL Process" as the template and JDeveloper will create the application with your project name.
When you expand the project folder under the "Application Navigator", you should see an folder named "SOA Content".
You can find a file called "composite.xml" in that folder. Open that file by double clicking it. You should see the BPEL process appeared as a blue box in the middle.
Open that BPEL process by double clicking it. You should see the BPEL components palette once you in the editor.
Hopes that help! -
Hi.
Is there an easy way to generate POJOs and mapping files automatically using Hibernate and JDeveloper 11g pointing to Oracle 11g database similar to what one can do with NetBeans IDE?
Thanks a lot.JDeveloper can generate POJO mappings to database objects using the JPA standard.
And this tutorial:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/ejb/ejb.html
We are using the Java EE 5.0 JPA standard API and not specific Hibernate implementation. The underlying JPA implementations used there is EclipsLink. -

I create an ADF application using JDeveloper 11.1.1.3. Can I test it (run) in Tomcat?
How to create an ADF project using Jdeveloper and deploy it to Tomcat?
According some blogs, I create an ADF applicaton running on Tomcat. However, it is not stable.
Is there any official tutorial about how to do that? While not officially supported people have been known to succeed in running ADF 11g on Tomcat.
For example:

JDeveloper 10g and JDK 1.1
We are developing using PersonalJava and JDeveloper 10g (for a PDA). To get going, we installed JDK 1.1.8 and set that to be the J2SE for the project. Here is the problem: Everything compiles OK (using ojvc) and runs OK, but I can't debug because JDev tries to use the JPDA API, which of course did not exist in JDK 1.1. Any way around this?
The JPDA is also available as a separate distribution.

SDK 1.2.2 or later is required. -
Jdeveloper 11G and ADE integration
Hi ,
I am planning to use , JDeveloper and ADE . Is it possible to use both in windows platform.
I have a windows XP laptop and have already installed JDeveloper in that. Is it possible to integrate ADE with that ? . Or ADE is only possible to install in linux boxes ?
Pls help
ThanksWouldn't this be a question to ask on a ADE forum (if there is one)?
Or you give more info about what you are talking about. Google tells me that ADE is 'Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE)' but I guess this is not what you meant.

Which version of JSF is in JDev 11.1.1.3 - is it 1.2?
When will JSF 2.0 and all of its new features be available in JDeveloper?
To use JSF 2.0 do I need to install/use NetBeans?
Thanks for any comments - CaseyMr.Shay pointed few weeks ago on this forum JSF 2.0 will be in next major release of JDeveloper which would be like 11.2 search for this forum for more info

Hello,
I am trying to start using JDeveloper UML capabilities in a couple of existing projects. I had deactivated UML as I didn't use it. After reactivating I have an Component Palette panel with just a "My Components" option (which is empty) . In every tutorial I see I should find there the object and relations icons. Do I have to activate them somehow?
I'd also like to know if I can import my existing classes to UML objects:
my.package.MyClass -> my::package:MyClass or I must re-create every class in UML.
thanks,
IgnacioHello,
I've disabled and reenabled UML and also reinstalled JDeveloper. I think I must be missing something because I see no other menu than "My Components" in Component Palette. I've also tried to configure it using Tools->Configure palette but I've seen it has other pourpose.
I'll keep on trying. I hope it is not a MacOS related problem.
Thanks again,
Ignacio
