JDeveloper 9i on AIX
As anyone been able to get JDeveloper to run on AIX. Any version. Also, has anyone been able to run JDeveloper 9i on AIX 5L? It runs well on Solaris even with OAF so far.
Thanks,

10g database, cluster on aix and jdeveloper
Are there some known incompatibilities between oracle 10g database with cluster on aix and jdeveloper application (jdev 10g) using dynamic jdbc credentials (jsp, bc4j, adf)?
My application vendor advises me that my patch level on AIX should be equivalent to that of the following windows patch level. It may not be available becuase most of them are OS specific..If there is patch for Windows behaviour how are you expecting a patch for an Unix version
Explain your vendor about this buton the other hand if it is a generic issue then you should look for AIX patch

Installing JDeveloper 10.3 on AIX 5.3
Hi - The following is the problem I am facing in installing JDeveloper 10.3 on AIX 5.3.
1. I have my JAVA_HOME set to JDK 6.0
2. I run the installer using java -jar <installfile>.jar
3. The JDK that is installed is shown as an "Uknown Version" in the installer screen where you choose the JDK - never-the-less, the JDK in the JAVA_HOME is picked up correctly by the installer
4. In the "Confirm Product Installation Directories" screen, upon clicking Next, I get an "A fatal error has occurred. This app will terminate." error message.
Clicking OK, closes the error message and the installer and returns me to the commandline.
I think AIX 5.3 may not be one of the supported platforms for JDeveloper 10.3. However, I am reaching out to you to see if there is a hack to get around this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Please let me know if you need more information on this.
Thank you.Never mind. The solution was rather simple. In AIX 5.3 create a new temp folder anywhere on your filesystem and point the TMPDIR environment variable to it. I tried TMP and TEMP and it didn't work. So it was just a matter of setting the right environment variable.

Web service proxy take ~4 minutes to detect connection problem in AIX!
Dear All,

i found a problem, in AIX, that the web service proxy generated by jdeveloper take long time
to detect connection problem to the server (e.g. server is down, network down, invalid
ip address or port supplied).
in ms window, if the proxy can't reach the server, it throw exception within seconds.
but in ibm AIX, it take about 4 minutes !!! the time is too long until the exception is thrown.
could anybody help me?

AS you can see we are on 11.5.10 4RUP version of OA Framework, but in metalink when i see, i am confused between two patches :
ATG.PF.H (patch 3438354 or Oracle Applications 11.5.10) -- Patch 4045639 9IJDEVELOPER WITH OA EXTENSION ARU FOR FWK.H
11i.ATG_PF.H RUP4 (patch 4676589) -- Patch 5455514 9IJDEVELOPER WITH OA EXTENSION ARU FOR 11i10 RUP4
Should i download Patch 4045639 or Patch 5455514 for Jdeveloper. Both of them seems like related to 11.5.10 version of ebusiness suite.
Thanks

Euro symbol not displayed/stored correctly when Application Server on AIX
Hi,
Up till now we have an BC4J/ServiceFile/UIX application (generated with JHeadstart)running on Windows OS (Application Server and Database).
The customer has decided to move the Application Server (10g) to an AIX machine.
When testing the application we find:
1) Euro symbol () is displayed en stored correctly when stored in varchar2 db-columns
2) The Euro symbol is not stored correctly when stored within a CLOB db-column AND when the AS runs on an AIX.
When the Application Server runs on a Windows-platform the euro symbol is displayed and stored correctly.
Our first guess was some NLS_LANG configuration problems on the AIX-machine. We tried however to set the NLS-LANG to "DUTCH_THE NETHERLANDS.WE8MSWIN1252". This had no visible effect.
Are there other (if any) NLS-settings which influence the way the CLOB-columns are dealt with?
When connecting to the same database from a Windows-Application Server no problems occur, thus showing that the problem is AS/OS specific.....
Our guess is that is related to BC4J and how BC4J communicates with the database.
Is this problem a known bug/issue?
Any ideas how to solve this problem?
We are using JDeveloper 9.0.3.1 (build 1107), Business Components Version is 9.0.3.10.62
Thanks,
AnthonieSorry, I'm having difficulty understanding what's happening here. Let me see if I get it.
You have an application that stores the euro symbol in a CLOB. When the server that handles this application is on AIX, the euro is not properly displayed in the client. When the server is on Windows, it displays properly.
Is that the issue? If so, it could be a number of things, but it's probably related to the character set differences between the two database servers.
Have you been able to reproduce this without using Business Components?

SaxParser error when deploying J2EE application on 10gAS for IBM AIX 5.2
Hello,
We have problems deploying J2EE application on 10gAS 9.0.4.0.0, on IBM AIX 5.2. We deployed it on 10gAS for Windows 9.4.0.0 and 9.0.4.0.1, and on 10gAS 9.0.4.0.0 for Linux, without any trouble (installed ADF runtime, etc.).
Application architecture is JSP/Struts/ADF BC4J. We used JHeadstart 10g framework.
As soon as we start the application, we get the message described bellow. We saw that J2SE version, shipped with the AS is 1.4.1? On all the other AS versions, and in embedded JDeveloper OC4J is 1.4.2.
We also use the Xerces library xercesImpl.jar, which is located in .../WEB-INF/lib directory (which contains SaxParser implementation), if that is important. But the application fails right on the beginning.
The complete error message follows:

Any information would be helpful,
Vladimir,
MAOP d.o.o., SloveniaFigures, I've been fighting with this for the past day and a half and I figure it out shortly after I post the question.
It turns out the tiles.jar that was in our WEB-INF/lib directory was an old one. It looks like the newer struts.jar (from jdeveloper) we're using includes the tiles information. Once I removed tiles.jar, commons-dbcp, pool, resources, and services, it works now.
It looks like jdeveloper overwrites most of those files with it's built in struts integration, and we've just been lucky before that struts.jar was being loaded before tiles.jar and something with oas 10.1.3 is loading the jars in a different order--but I'm just guessing here. -
Scalability and load balance of Discoverer componts on AIX
Hi All,
what is the discoverer server capability on AIX box? In other words, How much load 9iAS i.e apache server and application server can bear on AIX box?
I need this information ASAP since we are going to install 9i AS on AIX and the concurrent users could be between 250 to 900.This is a dedicated box so, i would like to know hardware requirements for the above mentioned no. of users.
Any help highly appriciated.
ManuRelated to the scalability issue, our team has a jheadstart-generated ADF application using ADF business components with a Oracle 11g DB. When profiling the memory usage of the application on jdeveloper 10.1.3.4, I am seeing the memory allocation increase until the application errors out with the outofmemoryexeception: permgen space. The memory leak seems to be associated with char[] taking up huge amounts of memory. When I view the detail for char[], it seems to be tied to objects that is deep within ADF, JSF, and other utility classes that we can't control. The top one is org.apache.commons.digester.Digester.endElement and com.sun.faces.el.impl.ExpressionInfo$JSPExpressionString.
I've already inquired oracle ADF support and they just closed the ticket because they said it was a jheadstart issue. Can someone help? This is a critical issue for us and we need someone at Oracle to step up and help us. Thanks. -

Any ideas why its not deploying ?
nullTo solve that problem, you need just replace the aurora_client.jar in your
client machine located in %ORACLE_HOME%\lib\ directory with
new one from the Unix Server located in $ORACLE_HOME/lib/aurora_client.jar.
In this case you will be able to run makeit.bat script
to deploy EJB from WinNT client, if you want to use JDeveloper you have to
do the same procedure for JDevelopers libraries.
For example : E:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.2.3\aurora\lib have also
aurora_client.jar, just replace it with new one from the Server
and you be able to run deployment using JDeveloper. -

Urgent.....Error while running a jsp report from Jdeveloper
Hi,
I am getting following error while running a jsp report from Jdeveloper. I am using version 10.1.2.1.0. The same report is working fine when I am running it from report builder. ( Both these tools were installed using Oracle Developer Suite 10g version 10.1.2). I did search in oracle discussion forums and google, but I could not arrive at a resolution of error. Any help in resolving this issue would be grateful.
