  • Jdev 10.1.3 cannot start on Mac OSX 10.3

I copied the jdeveloper app in the applications folder. When I try and
run it, it seems it tries to launch but then nothing happens. I cannot see
a process for jdev in the monitor utility.
P.S. This must be a faq, but I'm sorry I couldn't find it here.
    Thanks.

I have 1.4.2. I guess that must be the problem. Two questions
    1) how would you suggest i update jdk to 1.5 ? Doesn't Apple Menu - Software
Update do the update to the latest and greatest ?
    2) I thought I read that Jdev10.1.3 comes with its own bundled jdk. right ?
    Thanks for your replies folks.

  • Wrong XQuery Launch Configuration in Jdeveloper Java Edition?

    Hi,
i want to use xquery from JDeveloper Java Edition.
I have a simple application with one project. I added the XML, XML schema and xquery feature my simple customer.xml and customer.xq
    Then i try to run customer.xq and get " java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/xquery/XQException"
In the log is a classpath that points to nowhere e.g. the classpath in the log shows C:\source\oracle_common\modules\oracle.xdk_11.1.0\xquery.jar but the real file is under c:\source\jdeveloper\modules\oracle.xdk_11.1.0
where can i set the "oracle_common" path?
I just unzipped the downloaded zipfile jdevjava11120.zip
    thanks

    Any suggestions?
Maybe this is a Bug in the JDeveloper Release?
It is the Generic Release Java Edition: 11.1.2.0.0 for Windows.
Just unzipped it and set the MW_HOME var to my directory (no spaces in path).
I need the xquery feature and dont want to install the big studio edition.

I cannot start bridge (Mac 10.8.2) CS6. States "the operation could not be completed" but if I use another user account it works fine. I have uninstalled and re-installed Creative Suite but no differene.
Are there some logs or cache's that I need to delete or something??
    Please help

but if I use another user account it works fine. I have uninstalled and re-installed Creative Suite but no differene.
Are there some logs or cache's that I need to delete or something??
There are a few things to try but it means the problem is in the account itself. un- and reinstall the Suite will not help if you are not also using the Adobe cleaner tool for this job:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
Check this and read the instructions carefully and most important, have a back up of your important settings (in Photoshop your custom actions, tool presets, brushes and workspaces and for Bridge the custom output templates and keyword list, to name the most important for me).
If you check your user library (by default hidden per OSX 10.7, use menu Go and press option to reveal this library) Inhere is a folder called Application support and most of those settings are here - User/Library/Application Support/Adobe.
If you copy this folder to a back up location you can always use this to copy the certain wanted parts to the new installed folder.
Also use a check and repair permissions on your start up disk with Apple disk utility or third party software like Cocktail.
And finally since your still on 10.8.2 they just recently released 10.8.3
Usually the update procedure is using the App Store and check software update. BUt in this case it might be useful to find the 10.8.3 Combo Update on the Apple Support section.
You have to download this yourself and then it is a normal update procedure. The combo update does a bit more refreshing for the user account then the normal update.
And if all this is not helping you then you can use the Apple recovery disk to reinstall your system, this is what before was known as an Archive and Install procedure. This creates a new user library while all your custom settings and files are being kept.
But you have to find info for yourself for this and also make sure you have a proper back up of all your important files, but as a wise person you already had done so I believe ?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
    =======================================
    Reinstall - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is
                    three times faster than wireless.

  • SQL developer wont start on Mac OSX Lion

    Hi there,
hoping someone can help me with this one, I've been running SQL Developer 3 on the macbook no problems for about a year, I recently upgraded to Mac OSX Lion and now when I try to start SQL Developer it will not run.
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of java as directed on the SQL Developer download page.
When I start SQL developer and view the Activity Monitor the "bash" process starts to use 100% CPU very quickly and SQL developer does not even get to the splash screen.
Can anyone point me in the right direction in terms of diagnosing this issue? Is there a log file I can review or way of starting SQL developer with specific arguments?
    Kind regards,
    stu

so try setting this in the SetJavaHome command for your SQL Developer (the bin folder will be added internally)
I'm not completely sure as i do not use macs, but it's worth a try.
Just had this same problem with Mountain Lion/SQL Developer 3.2.2, right after my upgrade to Mountain Lion. The path shown in Irian's response is what did the trick for me. The /System/Library/.... path shown by some others doesn't even exist on my machine. Interesting....

I am running Mac OSX 10.7.1, Lion. I cannot upgrade to the latest Mozilla. It appears to download, but then I am never prompted to complete the installation. Thoughts???

If you go to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and click the download button, do you see the download start? Where do you have downloads saved to? Check that folder for the installer.

You need to press and hold the power button for five seconds and do a "hard" shutdown. Then restart.
Download the "offline installer" here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ and run it to update.

The printout looks absolutely like a script and also says something about Adobe even though I tried printing from different sources like email client, web browser, excel, word, etc. Any suggestions please?
You get this sort of output, which is Postscript commands, when you use a Postscript driver to a printer that does not support the Postscript printing language.
I'm having trouble locating information about this LBP6500 but I would guess that it supports one of Canon's proprietary printer languages like UFR2 or CAPT. The driver you downloaded would indicate the supported printer language. Also, you could look at the Windows computers to determine which Canon printer driver they are using - I'm confident it won't be Postscript.
So the solution is to create the printer again, but this time you will need to manually select the LBP6500 driver that you have installed instead of using theĀ  Generic Postscript driver that is included with OS X. First step is to remove the current printer that is using the Generic Postscript driver. (If you use Eric's ill informed printer reset then this will have already removed all printers on your Mac) Next step is to click the plus button to add the printer and enter the correct network details as before. Then, if OS X auto selects the Generic Postscript driver again, you need to click on this drop menu and click "Select Software". This will present the Printer Software window where you can browse for the LBP6500. Once found, select it and click the OK button. Then click the Add button to complete the printer creation. Now you should be able to print correctly.

  • Cannot start my mac, tried resetting pram and smu, I cannot even boot up from SL disc anymore. any other suggestions

Firstly apologies for any spelling or typos but I'm typing from my iPod touch!
My initial problem was that my mac kept crashing soon after start up on 10.6.7. After installing the is back to 10.6 it seemed to be work ok but not great. After updating to 10.6.7 the problem came back so once again I reverted back to 10.6. Then 10.6.8 was released not long ago so I gave it a try... Same issue.
Now I want to revert back to 10.6 but it's not letting get past the grey screen with the apple logo with the spinning thing underneath. I have tried resettin smu and pram but I get nowhere. Booting from my snow leopard disk to revert no longer works. So where do I go from here???
    Please help somebody.
    Thanks,
    Carl

So as it stands my iMac has the Snow Leopard disc inside as the startup disc. As a result it is now not allowing me to boot up in safe mode and perform smu or pram resets. It goes straight to the grey screen with the Apple logo with the spinning thing underneath.
It just keeps spinning and spinning i thought i'd persevere and leave it and see what happens. TWICE i've left it hanging for 2 hours (while i popped out) and came back with the same grey screen.
This is now worrying me because as a worse case scenario i cannot even remove all my data before trashing it (or throwing it out of the window which seems like the more attractive option right now).
If anybody out there has any more suggestions please please put a post on here.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Carl.
PS. Why wouldn't it even attempt to start for the snow leopard disc? I can understand that it can't boot from the system but surely booting up from the DVD should always work???

  • After Effects CS5 Won't Start on Mac OSX 10.6.3

Production Premium arrived yesterday, and having tried all the software, After Effects is the only one that won't start.
I'm pretty sure my computer meets the spec needed.
I have Intel Core 2 Duo processor, at 2.66 GHz, with 4GB of RAM and loads of hard drive space. Premier Pro works fine, it's just After Effects.
    Help!

I am having similar problems to those described above. I have Master Collection CS5.5 on a Mac running OS 10.6.8. The full suite had been running fine until late October, at which point After Effects stopped loading on launch. Illustrator and Photoshop start and run without problems, but After Effects will/would not launch. It hangs while loading MediaCore. When I launch in safe mode, I get an error with the Verdana font, so I've addressed that problem as suggested above (see my notes below). I successfully launched After Effects one time last week before uninstalling the Master Collection and taking all the steps outlined below, but the software has since refused to launch at all. I have not made any major system changes in the past two months. The most recent change I've made that might be relevant is the installation of FinalCut Pro, but the two packages have coexisted without incident since summer. I regularly use VLC, Quicktime Pro 10 and Quicktime Pro 7, but I have not made any changes to these recently.
Here are the steps I have taken:
    delete user preferences
    remove VLC and Quicktime
run software updates on Mac OS; my last update was a Java patch in late October; roughly coincides with when my troubles began. There are no ATI/Radeon patches available for Mac OS 10.6 that I can find, and I believe that the system's "Software Updates" provides such updates
completely uninstall and reinstall Master Collection and install software updates using "Updates" within Photoshop (have done this sequence three times)
    remove font list ("AdobeFnt11.1.lst" and "AdobeFnt11.lst") in /Library/Applicatio support/Adobe/PDFL/9.0/fonts
use Appzapper to remove After Effects before reinstalling it
boot in safe mode and launch either from .app file or from Package Contents/MacOS/ terminal executable
remove MediaCore components completely by placing them on the desktop
Please help. I can not afford to lose production time on this machine.

I checked that all programs I need should be campatible. Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator run fine. Indesign, however, does not start but signals an "Error 5". No further explanation. What could possibly be wrong?
