JDeveloper on Window 2000

I installed JDeveloper323 and Oracle9i Management Pack on my Window2000 PC. All database connections using OCI8 in the JDeveloper projects failed, and got the error messages such as "oracore8.dll not found in the path...". But I can get them to work after I changed the driver to JDBC thin driver instead. I checked and noticed that there is no oracore8.dll installed indeed, and which is found on my old NT machine. Any clue on how to fix this problem? Thanks

The OCI driver that comes with that version is for 8i and can't use the 9i client. Replace the JDBC OCI libraries that came with Jdeveloper with the one from the 9i client and you should be good to go.
Take the files from the oracle home (jdbc\lib directory) and place them in the jdev home (jdeveloper\jdbc\lib). Not sure if that is exactly correct for 3.2 since I am only running 9i now, but it should be close.

  • OEM is not multi-screen friendly using Windows 2000 / Matrox

Using Matrox Dual-Head support for multi-screen (extended desktop) on Windows 2000, Oracle Enterprise Manager does not show menu dropdowns if the OEM window is moved of the primary desktop screen.

I've been seeing a similar problems for some time now
with my multi-monitor setup under windows2000 - and Jdeveloper
    - maybe this fix will be good for OEM too?
(my secondary monitor is on the right hand side)
There is a known JDK bug with menus in this environment
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4647105.html
"JMenu layout incorrect on dual Monitor systems on secondary monitor"
Which is fixed in JDK 1.3.1_04
So, to exploit this in Jdeveloper, you can
change the used JDK version. I downloaded the JDK from sun
and installed it in the default location of c:\jdk1.3.1_04
Then I modified this line in jdev.conf
    SetJavaHome c:\jdk1.3.1_04
And releaunched jdeveloper: (ignore the warning box
about OJVM being absent). To verify that the JDK switch
worked, use help-about to see the JDK version
This fixed the problem for me with Jdeveloper 9.0.2
and my development build of 9.0.3.
I think that Jdeveloper 9.0.3 will ship with
    this version of the JDK.

  • Install Problems under Windows 2000

I have recently upgraded my machine from WinNT4 SP6 to Windows 2000 Professional, and now I cannot install JDeveloper. I have tried 3.1, 3.2 and 3.2.2 and all of them hang at different stages during the installation. There is no error message, the install application just stops responding.

I haven't had problems with any other products installing. I have tried installing JDeveloper 3.2.2 with the bare minimum of components as well as trying the typical installation and nothing seems to work, Im not running anything in the background. The system is a HP Kayak XM600 with an intel PIII 800Mhz 256Mb RAM and an ELSA Synergy graphics card. Someone else I know tried to install it on a Dell machine with a different setup, but under Win2000 Professional, and the install failed on them as well.

  • XSQL Servlet IIS Windows 2000 Oracle 8i

I would like to use XSQL Servlet to get XML data from an Oracle 8i database. The Web server is running Windows 2000 IIS. Will this work? How about Windows 2003?
If not, what are other Oracle options I could use to get query results formatted as XML?
    Thanks for any help!
    Dyan

The XSQL Servlet has not been tested on Windows 2000 IIS, or Windows server 2003.
Generate an XML document with a XSQL query in JDeveloper 10g.

I've tried many versions of oracle database, 8.1.7 all editions, 8.1.6ee, 9iAS. the only message error I got when 9iAS failed to install (iSetup.exe). the problem seems to be with the java runtime environment. the jre 1.1.7 came with 9iAS would not run properly. I've tried to install java2 and jdk1.1.8 from javasoft, still no luck.

    Hi,
The problem of installing Oracle Product on P4 computers comes from the symcjit.dll (Java Jusit in time compiler) which doesn't recognize the P4.
I installed Oracle products on my P4 just by copying the CD's on a harddisk and manually replacing the dll (which is Version 3...) by a one I found to be Version 4.0.0.7.
It is maybe not the best solution as it can result some instability (I don't know yet) but at least I didn't bought a brand new computer for nothing.
The question is to know when Oracle will deliver some patches to allow a normal installation on P4s.
Let me know if you want me to send you the dll.
    Regards,
    Jacques.

  • Can I install Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition on Windows 2000 Professional

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have Windows 2000 professional edition loaded on my PC and I'm not sure what it allows. Can I load Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition of the database on this operating system, or do I need to load windows 2000 server software.
    Thanks
    Ryan

Its a problem with oracle and pentium 4 processors actually. The solution involves renaming or deleting the symcjit.dll in the 8i installation package after you've copied the whole Cd onto your HDD!
I've tried this and it install OK, with a few errors along the way, now I can't get the apache server working, nor on the 9i AS that I've installed as well. Let me know if you get anything useful please?

  • Live! Cam Voice + Windows 2000 - No video input

    Hi all,
Since purchasing my Live! Cam Voice, I've always used it with a Windows XP Home machine. Recently, though, I tried to use it with a laptop running Windows 2000 Professional. The installation process encounters no problems and applications like MSN Messenger detect the cam without any difficulty. However, when *any* application attempts to view video from the camera, nothing is returned but darkness (I have lights on :-P) - it's as though it's simply not been switched on. Anyone got any ideas for dealing with this?
    Mike
    If anyone's interested, the laptop's spec is . . .
Model - Compaq Armada M700 (USB2 connectivity provided via PCMCIA card)
    CPU - Intel P3 650Mhz
    Memory - 92MB
    HD - 6GB
Not sure about anymore details of the spec (graphics accelerator, etc) - I guess Googling for the model would give more details.

I am having the same problem. I am using windows Vista and have tried?recording sound in other applications and it works fine, just not when trying to record in LIVE! cam. I jbought this cam 2 months ago and just now find out it does not work when I need it the most. I am due to give a video presentation in two weeks and will probably have to buy a new cam, what a dissapointment!

Lost here..... I have an MSI Geforce 4 4200 120MB Video Card slotted on an Asus A7V motherboard - AMD Thunderbird 1Ghz processor with 640mb of ram.
There is a common problem with the Nvidia chip and Windows 2000 in regards to a lock frame rate at 60fps within games.
I've tried several programs to fix this i.e. "Refresh Lock", "Windows 2000/XP Nvidia Refresh rate lock", "PowerStrip 3.15" and "NVFresh Tool 1.0"
But nothing seems to work. I'm sure these program work with older Nvidia cards but not with GeForce 4.

  • Upgrading from NT 4.0 to Windows 2000

    Hello,
I have iPlanet 6 installed and running under Windows NT 4.0. I need to upgrade the server to Windows 2000. Is there anything I need to do to iPlanet 6 before or after the Win2K upgrade? Or do I just upgrade the server, and the iPlanet software will run normally after the OS upgrade?

    Dear Darren,
Finally, I tried to use "Out Port.vi" under Windows 2000 (the AccessHW was added in NT as well as in 2000). It seemed to work (it means there was no more error "capability not supported", however it did not work (the result of reading a port using "In port.vi" was always 255, regardless the value I expected.
The configuration of board was exactly in the same state as before crash of Windows NT (no change of base address of board etc.). But it is true that both boards (custom one and PCI-MIO-E-16E-4) were removed and than reinstalled. The LabView program was without any change.
It is just my impression - I did not examine the problem very carefully, so may be there was some other reason of failing.
But finally we decided to reinstalled N
T, because of other (non-NI) devices which are not supported by Win 2000.
    Thank you. Regards

This resolved my problem as well. I am on Windows 2000 server, SP2. The problem installing Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 standard edition exhibited itself by briefly changing the cursor to an hourglass and then returning to ready. The executable JREW.EXE would briefly execute in processes and then stop.
I copied the installation media to a server drive and renamed symcjit.dll and the installer worked correctly.
Thank you to Yugandhar for this solution.
We too faced some of those problems ie setup.exe wont even run in Windows XP pro, p4 system..the culprit is symcjit.dll. Its the problem in p4 to run this dll. After lot of research, just rename it and all is set to go.
