JDeveloper startup freeze!
Hello everybody,
This is my first post here, as I am new to jdeveloper. Today I installed JDeveloper for the first time and I was trying to install the Glassfish integration. It went well and required to restart the system. After re-starting JDeveloper freeze at startup and I can not work anymore. I tried to re-install it but maybe it has stored some files and I do not know what and where.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you

MacBook Pro 17" with Intel Core 2 Duo startup freeze with 10.6.8?
With my MacBook Pro 17" with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz startup freeze with 10.6.8 - I had problems after several SW upgrades. Startup ends every time in a freeze or a crash, nothing is running, i am not able to type in the password. it starts in beginning with thin colored disrupting lines on the display and this get more and more and than freeze the system.
"Save Boot", startup with shift shows no problems, display is ok, no freeze. So something must new in the video-driver. Is there any driver what I can delete or any new software to help in this issue?try to boot off the cd installazzione, when the screen appears to follow thePACKING screen viewing. If you've already looked in the manual are your problem?

At the moment I'm running JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 on Windows XP SP2 2gb mem, P4 HT proc. I also have the same problem on a 2.0ghz Core Duo, 2gb mem, Vista. I'm using the JRE/JDK included with jdev. I can't upgrade as this version is mandated by the project.
Essentially JDeveloper randomly freezes regardless of what I am doing. I could be working on a swing app, web apps, or just doing random coding. Freezing seems to occur after an hour or two of use and once it starts it seems to happen every 15-30 minutes.
When the freeze occurs the jdev window goes completely grey except the title bar. I can still resize, minimize, and maximize. After ~30 seconds to 2 minutes JDeveloper usually unfreezes. When I don't feel like waiting I just end the task.
The CPU usage during freezes is usually between 0 and 1%. No other applications on the system are affected.
It almost seems like garbage collection is occurring.
Other people in my group have the same issue. Am I the only one that has this problem?Hi,
situations in which this happens to me are usually initiated by other applications working with different JavaSE versions (though I couldn't nail this down to a conflict between JavaSE versions and suspect my OS for not properly isolation the two processes).
If this problem persists, I suggest to have customer support working with you on solving the issue

OS has been slow on program startup, freezes for up to 2 minutes
Hey everyone,
Have fixed many PCs in my day because they broke and I haven't had much experience on Macs because they just never seem to break and I am just not start where to begin troubleshooting. I have a refurbished (from Mac) Macbook Pro which I purchase about a year ago. 2.54 Ghz core 2 duo, 4 gb ram, running OS X 10.5.8 it recently has been freezing for long periods of time while starting programs.
When I got the computer it was running great, now it lags at certain times such as program startups and waking up from sleep. The freezes can range from 30 seconds to 3 minutes of idling where I can move the mouse around but the pinwheel spins and I can hear the hard drive working. It almost seems like some memory issue as if the computer is having a hard time getting going. It reminds me of windows computers that were infected with viruses that needed to be cleaned up. Sometimes it will run okay but other times if I open a program it will stall and take a while to open, most of the times when the program is finally open it runs smoothly.
The hard drive is 232 gb. I thought it might have been caused by space issues but when I freed up to 50 gb I still noticed the problem occurring. Right now I have 9 GB free - I know its low but I still don't believe it should be hanging for 3 minutes when I start some programs.
I am new to Macs but have troubleshooted many Windows computers and my question is where do I look from here? Is there a place that logs the computer activity during the slowdowns so that I can pinpont the issue?
Thanks for the help!
Here is a screenshot of activity monitor while copying a file over to an external hard drive that I have: http://i.imgur.com/4LXBN.png

Screenshot of system memory: http://i.imgur.com/YYKNf.pngI'm not sure what you mean by "crashing" but this is what has happened to me and a bunch of other users: When working with plugins that have visual analysis and with these plugins open Logic Pro lags very badly. You can't stop it. You can't make adjustments. You just wait for the lag to catch up, which sometimes takes up to two minutes, depending on the stress you are putting on the system. If this is the case with you as well, join the club. It's a problem that has been well-documented on here. It occurs for me when I open channel eq and have the visual analyzer button engaged. As soon as I open two instances I will get this lag.
I had a rather depressing conversation with a fellow at the top of tech support today, who still hadn't heard of this problem. All I can say is, CALL APPLE TECH SUPPORT!!! Make sure they know this is a problem you are having! Otherwise it doesn't get placed into the heirarchy of bugs that need fixing. That's exactly what I was told today and it made me very upset because I have called support, and I have seen that many other folks have done the same. Apple is so large a company they just don't take things seriously enough to need to fix them until they receive calls. So please, call if you can! Ask to be put on with second tier support. -
No longer boots. Startup freezes at Apple logo. What's wrong?
Apple's Hardware Test says its O.K. Wont recognize install disk, so I can't reinstall system software. What do I do now? This is an 8 core Mac Pro running Leopard.
Thanks for your input, Linc. I have tried 3 Install Disks, one each for Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard, so its not the disks. The startup just doesn't get far enough along to be able to recognize the optical drive. But I don't know because it did, after all, read the Install Disk enough to bring up the Apple Hardware Test program (which came on the original Leopard Install Disk. I ran Apple's Hardware Test Program in both standard and extended tests, with the same negative results.
Perhaps I should mention that the only other clue of a problem is that there is always a screen flash, or two, associated with the freeze.
I have put the computer in Target Mode and been able to access the startup drive on another Mac - ran Disk Utility's First Aid, repeatedly but detected no problems. This Mac has four drives, with two in a raid. One other peculiar thing is that the last drive (#4), the largest and newest drive (2 months old), does not show up at all, not on the desktop nor in Disk Utility, when in Target Mode. The other drives seem to work fine, and I have been backing up everything I can. This means that the startup drive seems to be working O.K. but the startup process is not. So I am leaning towards a system software problem. Is there a third component involved that wouldn't be a part of a hardware test? Is Apple's Hardware Test software any good? insufficient?
Is there a way to do a Clean Install of the System from Target Mode (another Mac connected by Firewire)?
Why is this happening to me?!!? -
Bootcamp Windows 7 on iMac Startup Freezes
Ok, so I have tried installing Windows 7 like 10 times & with every install, after doing all Bootcamp Updates & Windows Updates, I get a Frozen Startup at the beginning where it says Windows & the little colored dots start loading. It always freezes right when the dots start loading. I've tried repairing, updating drivers, etc...A lot of times even with hitting the Option Key, it'll just go right to Mac, since Mac is my Default Startup Partition. No black screens, just Startup issues.
I have two semi-related issues and potential fixes.
1. I have issues booting up when my external monitor's USB hub is plugged into the Macbook Pro. There is an external harddrive attached, which may be the root of the issue. Around 50% of the time it freezes on the boot disk selection screen.
When the boot hangs, I unplug the USB hub, turn the power off/on, and hold alt to bring up the boot selection menu. I've never had an issue booting into Windows when I unplug my USB hub with the external harddrive.
I'm not sure if this update fixed my issue, need to check my EFI: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3423
2. My computer will freeze randomly in Windows 7 (64bit). I believe the issue is related to the graphics drivers on my GeForce 330m card. There are two options, so far the first one has worked for me.
a. Turn off Aero graphics. Goto: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools and then on the left click on "Adjust Visual Effects" Select the "Adjust for best Performance" to unselect all options.
b. Update your video drivers to something other than the default Bootcamp video drivers. (Start looking here: http://wilby.com/cameron_blog/?p=118) -
My iMac desktop computer won't startup anymore... Was freezing up intermittently lately, but now it gets stuck on the grey Apple logo.
I tried reinstalling OSX and no change. There are no abnormal sounds coming from it either. I am currently running the extended hardware test after reading the troubleshooting manual that came with the computer by inserting the original system disk1 in the drive and holding down the D key while powering on.
It has been running for about 6 minutes now and is almost 1/2 way done. Any ideas??? Suggestions???? Would be a great help.
Thank you in advanceAnd I can't find it. I'm going to leave it off and unplugged until the morning. We'll see what happens then. If nothing, I may be making an impromptu drive to the Apple Store.

G5 Startup Freeze after recent Security Update
Since installing the new Security Update, my G5 2.0 Dual freezes after the status bar in "Starting Mac OS X" reaches the end. I have restarted multiple times – same thing happens. I tried holding down SHift to start without extensions, but no difference. Then I booted from Tiger install disk and ran Disk Utility to repair disk and permissions, then rechecked. All O.K. Same freeze. Tried Single User Mode startup and ran FSCK – disk checked out O.K. I'm so frustrated that I'm entertaining an archive reinstall of Tiger. Does anyone have a solution or idea before I go that far? The Security Update worked fine on my G4 17" 1.0 MHz PowerBook, so I was able to go online to plea for help, but my G5 is my main workhorse and I've got to get back up and running. APPLE – WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME???
Well, I tried Tech Tool Pro and nothing changed. Went to MacFixit and followed all of their suggestions. Next, I made a clone of my H.D. with SuperDuper! before I took the next dramatic step. I finally bit the bullet and did an archive reinstall of Tiger, then applied all updates up to the newest Security Update. First install hung up on startup after updating to 10.4.7, so I did it again. I then spent the whole morning reisnstalling printer drivers, fonts, and third party stuff I had in my original system. All is working well now and I'm able to get back to work. Phew!!! I've been reading everyone else's trials and tribulations with the new S.U. This has never happened to me before with an S.U. Please Apple – don't do this to us who depend on our Macs for our very livelihood! Give us a way to restore to our previous state when an S.U. screws us up!

I am using JDeveloper Studio 10.1.3.3.0.4157 on Windows and installed SOA Suite Patch Set 10.1.3.3 on SOA Suite 10.1.3.1 on Windows.
JDeveloper was running ok before the SOA Suite Patch install. After the install, I was able to deploy a BPEL process. Then I restarted JDeveloper and could not open any Navigators so I cannot work on any applications. I got the following error in the DOS box.
Did the SOA Patch Set screwed up JDeveloper? How can this be fixed?

For me i installed win 7 fro xp and when i restarted the computer i just froze on the start-up thinkpad screen and i have tried every thing i know from removing the batter and other hardware. what could be the problem.

i have experienced the same on my t400s. I have also experienced the random shutdowns earlier. I did some searching around the net and gathered that it is likely a voltage problem that is making the ssd freeze. It happended at the win 7 startup for me. I saw a desktop diy forum where some members had defect motherboards that did the same. After i read this i went in to the bios and deactivated the power saving settings for the cpu and then win 7 started normally again... Before i actually did this i did safe mode, boot up with a windows 7 dvd, and boot up with a boot disc (dos promt) but in every case the computer just froze while starting up... -
X240 - Windows 8 Startup Freezing
Hello, for as long as i had this x240 (about two months) i have had random freezes on startup, ethier during the startup process or shortly after logging in. I would like the help of the community in deciding whether this is a hardware or software problem. When booting with the lenovo logo and the spinning circle, blue horizontal lines appear and it restarts. I have included a short gif of what my screen does when it freezes after boot as it is hard to explain. Thank You.
X240 FreezingGood day and welcome to the community.
After looking at your video clip, I'd recommend that you call Service to discuss, especially if you're still under warranty. Contact information is below.

Startup freeze after pc mouse install
Hello everybody.
I am a pc person trying to enter the mac world.
I recently bought a mac mini to hook up to a kvm switch and my pc. I borrowed a mac keyboard and mouse for original startup and all was well. After installing pc mouse software it called for a reboot. Since then, I get grey screen at startup and can not get the disk out. Holding option key at startup gives me a hard drive icon, but when I click on that, it freezes.
Somebody must have had this happen and has a solution for people like me.
Thanks in advance.
mac mini Mac OS X (10.4.7)First problem, get the CD out.
Restart the computer (hold down power key until it shuts down, the push to start), then hold down the Command (apple), Option, O and F keys as soon as it starts and hold them down until the Open Firmware window appears.
Then type "eject cd" in lower case (no quotes).
Your basic problem is that your mouse driver is probably not compatible with the OS system version. The manufacturer might have an update, but that doesn't solve your problem starting up. You will need a Mac mouse at this point.
Try holding down the shift key until the blue screen appears. This disables some drivers and might get the machine booted. If it does and the mouse install CD has an "uninstaller" RUN IT!
Otherwise it will require some grubbing around in the Library which you may not be eager to do.
Log on to the mouse manufacturer's site and see if an updated driver to match your OS is available. You need to know your OS version and whether your machine is intel or Power PC.
Check this by going to the blue apple, pulling down to "about this Mac" and the Mac OS X screen will tell you what OS version you are running, and should tell you what processor is installed. If the latter data is not clear, click on the "more Info. . ." button and the hardware overview will supply the CPU data.
Sorry your having trouble, changing operating systems is always uncomfortable, and having driver trouble right off the bat is a real pain. -
Startup Freeze - Vertical Lines on Screen
Hi -
Running 10.4.7 on a new Macbook - since a firmware update about two weeks ago, my macbook freezes on startup - no chime... just goes to gray screen and slowly develops vertical lines. I can restart by resetting the nvram and then everything is ok until the next restart - or wake-up from sleep if I'm only on the battery.
Apple has already replaced my battery once and that seems ok now... but this start up thing worries me.
Has anybody seen this or reported something similar to Apple? seems like it would be related to the firmware update... but they aren't saying if they're hearing it from anyone else.
Thanks for your help
Macbook Mac OS X (10.4.7)Hi, Altoklez. Welcome to the Discussions.
1. You wrote: "Has anybody seen this or reported something similar to Apple"If they have, they would probably have reported it on the MacBook Discussions. Have you checked the MacBook Dicussion for similar reports?
2. Run the Apple Hardware Test (AHT) that came the affected computer. See my "Apple Hardware Test" FAQ for comprehensive advice on using the AHT in troubleshooting.
3. Frankly, given that the machine has already been repaired once, I'd have Apple look at it again. If there is an Apple Retail Store in your area, I'd recommend taking it there. You may wish to call ahead to make an appointment at the Genius Bar.
Good luck!
