JDeveloper "Web Services" tutorial new version needed

Hi everybody,
I'm studying web services now.
I've tried to follow "Publishing, Consuming, Deploying and Testing Web Services" JDeveloper tutorial (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/collateral/tutorials/9050/mvcmodel_webservices_tut.html), but I've failed. Tutorial seems to be too old. I've got problems with generating web service and so on... This "End2End" web service demo (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/viewlets/10g/WS_End2End_Demo_viewlet_swf.html) is too old as well...
Are there any more web service tutorials (preferrably online) for JDeveloper 10.1.3 except "building simple application"?

I tried to follow "Building a JAX-RPC Web Service" (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/unitedloan/unitedloan.html#p) tutorial, but I've got problems with steps 2,3,4.
Step 2 output: "Could not canonicalize 'P?↕' (The filename, directory name, or volume label synt
ax is incorrect). From system property java.library.path.
Enter an admin password to use:"
I enter password "welcome" as it is said in tutorial, but then step 3 causes problems.
Step 3 output: "Could not canonicalize 'P?↕' (The filename, directory name, or volume label synt
ax is incorrect). From system property java.library.path.

05/08/16 09:24:05 Error starting JMS-Server: jms.xml: port 9127 already in use."
Step 4 fails because "test connection" fails.

    Hi Azeem.
Check out values specified for JAVA_HOME, PATH and CLASSPATH under environment variable. Was facing the same problem. Changed the values to point to jdk1.5 and it is working now.
    BTW.
You don't have to uninstall jdk1.4.

    Hi Dave and Xuemei
I'd like to try and help you on this question. Can you confirm the following for me:
Did you download jdev9i_902.zip - the complete install or jdev9i_902_base.zip - the base install?
Dave, in you mail you say you have downloaded the complete install. If this is the case, then you did not need to install JDK1.3 and change the SetJavaHome variable. If you now comment out that variable then JDeveloper should use its shipped JDK1.3
The error message seems to indicate that a JDK1.4 version is being picked up by your system at runtime. Can you check if your classpath is set to this E:\ProgramFiles... directory. If so, can you try removing it (save it first!)
    JDeveloper is certified against JDK1.3.1_02

    Dave

Dave, given the messages returned indicate your configuration is looking at a j2se1.4 directory, I think that is the problem. Neither OC4J or JDeveloper are certified with JDK 1.4. I realize that you have installed 1.3 so my guess is that in following step 8 and 10 of the "Installing and Running Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE" where it says:
    8. Install the J2EE container using the following command: java jar oc4j.jar install
    10. Start the J2EE container by issuing the following command: java jar oc4j.jar Show me.
the problem is that the commands were not prefixed with the location of your JDK 1.3 installation and by default picked up the later JDK 1.4. I think you will be able to get around it by running the commands as follows (replacing directory names by your locations):
    <jdk1.3_home>\bin\java -jar oc4j.jar -install
    <jdk1.3_home>\bin\java -jar oc4j.jar
Your JDeveloper should be fine unless you changed its JDK to also be 1.4; by default it uses its own built-in 1.3 JDK.
Hope this points in the right direction.
    Mike.

    Hi,
Unfortunately, your web service is failing at runtime because JDeveloper (and more specifically, the embedded OC4J) is installed in a directory whose path contains a space character. If you move JDeveloper from "Program Files" to another directory, perhaps "Program_Files", then it'll all go smoothly.
Apologies if this causes you inconvenience.
    Regards,
    Alan.

    Thank you for the reply.
I have jwsdp-1.2 (not 1.3) and the version of Tomcat that was packaged with that is the only one I have.
The complete file structure for the gs application has been built at C:\oracle-xml\jwstutorial12\examples\gs. The directory C:\jwsdp-1.2\work\Catalina\localhost\gs exists but it is empty.
When you mention ant scripts, does that mean build.xml? Is the operation you describe performed in a <target> element? How do I set it up? I could not spot anything in the Ant manual.
I notice that C:\oracle-xml\jwstutorial12\examples\common\targets.xml is not well-formed. It consists of a lot of <taskdef> and <target> elements all at document root level.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Error loading control. a newer version needed. the default settings will be used

Hi I am using LabVIEW DSC 7.1 for programming my application. My VI contains NI hypertrend which I am publishing on a browser using the web publishing tool. When I open the web browser on a different computer I get this error- Component works  Error loading Control. A newer version needed. The default settings for the control will be used. I have disabled firewall, pop up blocker etc...but for some reason it keeps giving me the same error. I read the knowledge base and it talks something about the .OCX file. I am not sure what I am supposed to do..I also have the DSC runtime installed in my machine. I'd appreciate it if someone could help me with this.

If you're on a 64-bit OS, OCX files  must be in the folder: %windir% \ SysWOW64
and not in %windir% \ System32 (only for 32 bits OS)
    >> %windir% is  the environment variable that defines the Windows folder! (eg: C:\Windows)

  • About Using Ant in Web Services Tutorial 1.0.1

I downloaded the latest version of the Java Web Services Tutorial 1.0.1 and trying to run the

    am gettigng the error saying

Can anyone please give any clue what might go wrong here?
    (I am on Windows 2000).
    Thanks

    Hello.
For example, build.xml is in the folder:
    d:\jwsdp_tutorial\docs\tutorial\examples\gs\build.xml
Then write a bat-file in the same folder that looks like this:
    -------------------- BEGIN --------------------
    set JAVA_HOME=d:/j2sdk1.4.1
    set ANT_HOME=d:/jakarta-ant-1.5.1
    set CATALINA_HOME=d:/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.18
    %JAVA_HOME%/bin/java -cp %JAVA_HOME%/lib/tools.jar;%JAVA_HOME%/jre/lib/rt.jar;%JAVA_HOME%/jre/lib/jaws.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/ant.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/optional.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/xercesImpl.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/xml-apis.jar;%CATALINA_HOME%/server/lib/catalina-ant.jar -Djwsdp.home=d:/jwsdp_tutorial org.apache.tools.ant.Main -logfile build.log -buildfile build.xml
    -------------------- END --------------------
Additionally you have to install j2sdk1.4.1, jakarta-ant-1.5.1 and jakarta-tomcat-4.1.18.

  • Trouble With Web Services Tutorial Examples

I am having trouble getting the Web Services Tutorial examples to run.
For example, when I compiled the hello1 example, and tried to run it, I got a directory listing. All the directory listing contained was the dukewaving.gif file.
When I tried to run hello2, I got something similar. This time though, there were two jsp files in the listing. By clicking on the first one, I was able to run the application.
Now I can't run the bookstore1 example. I went back a second time, to be sure that I was following the instructions exactly as written. I am gettng an HTTP Status 404 - Servlet BookStoreServlet is not available.
I don't know why this is happening. There were no errors when I ran the Ant targets, and the WAR file did get copied to the webapps directory.
I would be very grateful for any help. I am very new to Java and am finding this very frustrating.

  • Can't find java source to web services tutorial

When I down load the Java Web Services Tutorial zip file, all that is in there are html files. I've read all sorts of references to the source, even a directory structure, but I cannot find the files.
    I have gone to:
    http://java.sun.com/webservices/downloads/webservicespack.html
And clicked on the Java WebServices Tutorial, v1.5_01 Download.
The java source files to the tutorial are NOT in that zip file.

Hmm, the URL for the tutorial you gave isn't working for me.
I've checked a bit more through the tutorial and JWSDP examples, and they all match for me. I'm looking at JWSDP version 1.5, and the tutorial here:
    http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.5/tutorial/doc/index.html
I can't find a 'HelloService' in this tutorial (I also have the tutorial downloaded, grep gave no results). The tutorial refers to, for example, to an example in <JWSDP_HOME>/xmldsig/samples/validate, which I have in my JWSDP. (The page that refers to this example is http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/1.5/tutorial/doc/XMLDigitalSignatureAPI8.html#wp511406)
If you're really looking at the tutorial version 1.3 (as the URL looks) that could explain it. So, my hunch is a version mismatch, but I could be way off the mark.

Hope this points in the right direction.

pipeline is where my jdk (I have two different versions because two different apps) is and the ref to D:\Ant...is for another app.
    CLASSPATH = C:\Program Files\Altova\xmlspy\XMLSpyInterface.jar;C:\jwsdp-1.3\server\lib\catalina-ant.jar;C:\jwsdp-1.3\common\lib
    ignore the XMLSpy stuff
    please help...thanks ahead of time.

    Hi Vivek,
This problem occurs when Web Service provider is not reachable , it means the server which provides services to the WSDL is temporally down or not reachable . To check whether the services is reachable , you could paste the WSDL URL in your internet browser , if it opens then problem is with NWDS configuration of proxy else sever is not reachable .
In your case problem is not with NWDS but with server as it looks that it is temprorarly down. To avoid such problem in future you could also store the WSDL file locally on your system and then can import ( obvioulsy you requires at least once to get the WSDL ) . This will help only while modelling the application to run you will require the service provider to be up and runnning
You could use other tutorials to try AWS Model in Web Dynpro .
    regards
    Dhawal
