The batterylife on the 5530 would depend on what youre using it for, and it has a bigger screen than the 6700 c. Anyhow, but there are steps you can do to make it use less battery, turn down screen light, make sure not other apps are running in the background, turn off bluetooth and so on.
The batterylife will also be reflected in where you are (signal strength) - as beeing in a area with bad coverage will dry out your battery faster.
For normal use with a little calling, some music, some texts and a bit wlan you should get a couple of days - as I have seen been reported around on forums. - FW updates will often improve batterylife a bit, but if youre going to listen to music and radio all day, I think you will need to charge it over night.
My youngest sister is listening to music all day, but does not call much, but sends about 20 texts per day - and she needs to charge it overnight to make sure she get throught the next day without running out of battery. She also happens to take a lot of photos...

What were you guys thinking or not thinking?
We recieved the new guid update it terrible. it's a pail blue with white text, a smaller text size , and it stayson screen for 3 seconds you couldn't read it if you could see it w/the white on light color. do you guys ever look at demmographics the largest sement of population are baby boomers , hello has anyone heard of age related blindness or at least decline. the old info bar stayed on longer so you had a chance to read it and the font size was large enough, and color contrast allowed me  to read from the next room  now you have to be on top of the tv. and keep hitting the button to read it. are you guys trying to give people another reason to leave if so you're doing a darn good job!

I agree 100%. This is absolutely ridiculous. Bring back the old format, if this is the best you can do. This extremely difficult to read.

  • What do you guys think of this site/pricelist/ any advice?

    Hey guys,
Just finished up launching my graphics business website -
    www.coastgrafix.com.
Have a look at it, let me know what you think, didn't want to
get to advanced with flash on it etc. - If you have any pointers or
ideas for it or the pricing let me know!
    Regards,

As others have said, your menu text defies legibility, but so
    does all
of the text except "CoastGrafix" in the logo. The Serpentine
    font is
particularly hard to read, even in print, and as graphic text
    at the
size you are using it, might as well be hieroglyphs. It is
    also, as
others have noted, a very dated type face--it does convey a
    "high tech"
feeling, but the "high tech" of about 1982. The HTML text is
    too small
and white text on black is hard to read.
The highlight colors for your menu are confusing. A color
    that serves as
the highlight color for one menu item is the not-highlighted
    color for
several others. Two shades of gray are used for two menu
    items'
highlight, and the orange... well, it's hard to summarize
    what the
colors might mean here, and that's a problem.
Also, the color scheme that you seem to be trying to use on
    menu items
to indicate the current page is inconsistently implemented or
    just an
accident that looks sort of deliberate.
You are using orange with an underline for links, but using
    the same
color (without an underline) for emphasized text. This is
    confusing.
On your ???? page (can't tell which page it is from the
    design, and all
of your page titles are the same) you have an image that says
    something
like "HOT SPECIAL." Clicking this launches my email program.
    I have a
very strong aversion to links that are email links and not
    identified as
such. You would do better to use a form for this function
    anyway.

  • UBER ANGERY TECHNICIAN..... WHAT ARE YOU GUYS THINKING!!!

Hi I've been in the business of end-user repair, training and servicing for about 20 years.  I've owned computers from every major manufacture on the market and I've repaired computers from every single manufacture on the market.  This will be the second time in my life that I've actualy taken the time to register and post to a manufacturer forum....
Today I serviced an IBM Lenovo PC Model#41V9706 Like any intelligent technician I backed up all the customers irreplaceable data prior to beginning, and was informed that the customer had NO disks to speak of for their system.  At first I thought, "ahh, common customer disguarding their important disks... As usual, But then I looked at his face and realized he was  65 and rich... Any way I found the restore application on the hard drive, ran it and created a boot disk.  I then proceeded to try to restore from the backups on the drive.  Didn't work (Great job btw on making good working backups....)  Finally I did a manufacture restore and the @#$@ing thing deleted the entire drive BEFORE it told me that I needed more disks to do the manufacture restore.  Are you guys out of your mind creating a program that is so backward that it doesn't even tell you that with out the disks it leaves the system completely useless?  As of yet all of the lenovo software is now gone, I've had to install a fresh and blank copy of windows using the customers install key and NOW I can't even get their factory software back onto the system because a copy of it doesn't appear to exist.
I'm sorry to be so frank but what the heck kind of restore program deletes all the backups before it tells you it can't help you?!  Even windows doesn't do that.  If I am ever to recommend or endorse another IBM product it will need to show some intelligence in it's design and include fail-safes or at least some kind of warning system to let people know that it is completely useless before it deletes data.  I am in the process of contacting customer service about this but I am not hopeful as my experience shows that for a small fee of $49.99 I might have the software replaced... What a royal piece of crap.
Your backup product receives a lousy 2 in my book your only redeeming qualities are it's ease of use and it's ability to work when windows doesn't.
    Jess

call lenovo 800 in your country to get the original software disk and drivers, if you are in warranty time you get no fee to paid, and is 3 to 5 days to receive the disks

  • What do you think of X11?

in my experience, X11 has been pretty bad at drawing windows. To understand what I mean, go to ubuntuguide.org (srry for th ubuntu reference ) and resize the window.I have also realized that it when an application crashes, it can bring down the whole X server which can get REALLY annoying. There are also a few other things that bother me about it. What do you guys think and would there be any chance of developing an alternative?

  • Florence + The Machine, what do you think?

Florence + The Machine released their third studio album How Big, How Bold, How Beautiful this June. With over 2 million Spotify followers I figured someone in The Green Room has already given it a listen.
Opening this up for discussion--what do you guys think? Is Florence Welch's best work yet?
    spotify:album:2btszoya78vyT8fwelmVnz

I really like it! Actually listening to it right now. My favorites are Ship to Wreck, Queen of Peace, and Make Up Your Mind.
But I still think Ceremonials is better. But then again Ceremonials is probably in my top 10 favorite albums ever, so it would be hard to beat.

  • Family Data Pricing (What do you think would be fair?)

Currently people are getting ripped off for $30 data plans and I assume many use under 1GB per month. Because of this many cannot afford data plans for their family.
I use around 150MB 3G each month, the rest is over WIFI.
    Questions:
    1. How much data do you use each month? (Found through MyVerizon)
    2. How do you think Verizon is going to set up family data?
    3. How much should a family of 4 pay for family data if each of them gets 2GB each considering what I said above about many not even using 1GB (although is is probably rapidly changing with video calls and 4G LTE). I still think people on average use less then 2GB.
I would have to say $70 for 8GB for the family to share. $17.50 per person. At that figure I think we would start to see a lot more smartphones being sold but I'm sure my figure is really low by Verizon's standard.
So, what do you all think Verizon will do with pools of data? Speculate on prices and amount of data.

Verizon has a $20/300MB data plan, which I have with an iPhone.
    1. I used 75MB or less each month (I have used 75MB once).
    2. Verizon is either going to add it as an option in current shared plan or create a separate data share plan (I''m thinking the later).
    3. I would prefer not paying for data and just using WiFi, but I would say for a family/share plan no more than $20/GB on the account level.

  • What do you think of the new Neon

What do you guys think of the neon 2!?
    http://www.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=23&subcategory=24&product=560 9
I have no idea why they even bothered making the neon , really its sole purpose was to have cartoonish skins that kids could enjoy in asia. Instead of dropping it now theres the neon 2 with a colour screen...which the original should have had.
When i first looked at it...it made me feel weird. I guess because there are no frontal buttons and that just weirded me out. Anyways, what do you guys think?
Someone will buy it....just not sure who yet? WHO USES SIDE BUTTONS THESE DAYS? they have like 30 cm2 to put a worthy pad in.

I think the Neeon 2 is interesting. I guess the Neeon 2 is meant for those who don't like the way the Zen V looks. I prefer the looks of the Neeon 2, although I don't like like the thumbwheel. How is the Neeon 2 priced there compared to the Zen V and V Plus? The Neeon 2 has a radio and video , so I guess the V Plus is the player to compare it to.

  • What do you think about the Verizon Android Phone?

They launched a website called DroidDoes.com - and a whole slew of marketing ads.
Basically the phone is an iPhone with a physical keyboard, isn't it?
Techcrunch is saying that it may wipe the iPhone floor. What do you guys think?

I consider all mobile phone providers to be about the same in terms of quality of reception and customer service. I get great AT&T service in most areas, and have found Verizon deficient in others. But since I travel internationally, and Verizon's technology being only available in the US, AT&T is by far the better choice. GSM and its future variants are pretty much the worldwide standard. Verizon's CDMA is mostly a US dead-end technology.
As for the phones, about the only advantage of the Android is a replaceable battery, but that advantage is tiny. Apple can design a larger battery to fit in the phone if it's not replaceable. And there are external solutions for charging in a pinch that are cheaper than a replacement.
Outside of us, there are some extreme anti-iPhone types in the press and in the top blogs. See the Boy Genius Report for really good information about the mobile phone industry and an almost pathological anti-Apple, anti-iPhone attitude. This attitude may be because of Apple's dominance of this segment, or because they love fixing the multitude of problems found when using other platforms. I have no clue.
    As for the other points:
Multi-tasking. Yes, I wish I could multi-task and use my XM/Sirius App while running navigation, which my Garmin does perfectly, while allowing me to use my iPhone connected by Bluetooth. But allowing multitasking will lead to more conflicts, lower battery use (not just by a bit either), and is truly not necessary. Of course, I can listen to the iPod function and almost every other program simultaneously, so that's what 90% of users want.
Night shots. If I want a good camera, I use a Nikon. The iPhone camera does what it does at the good enough level without adding cost.
Open development. Well, just about anyone can be an iPhone developer. And you have to follow the rules. You can make money off of it. Maybe I'm missing what open development means, but instead of anarchy, Apple put some order to it. That's a good thing, and that's why all Apple products work very well out of the box. Unless you're some geeky desire to build the perfect **** app....oh wait a minute!
Customization. I think Verizon was getting desperate. At the software level, my iPhone does everything I need to do in the way I want. I've got ringtones for every friend. I've got weather, stock and other types of apps that let me live my life almost without a computer. I've got a cool app that provides detailed topographical maps for hiking in remote areas. I've got Madden 10. What else do I need! But, let's look at customization from a different perspective. How many tens of thousands of aftermarket products are available for the iPhone? Or maybe Verizon means the ability to add memory? I've got a 32 GB iPhone. One day, I'll wish that it's a 64GB version, maybe that will be out next June. There is no need for a memory card in my life.
Widgets. I have no clue what this means, but I've got tons of apps. What else do I need?
Keyboard. I remember when Apple removed the 3.5" disk from their products. When that happened, I hadn't used a disk like that for a couple of years, so I thought it was logical. But the press and the "real computer" people laughed that it was a huge mistake. Well, 3.5" disks were dead in less than a year. At first, I wasn't a fan of the keyboard on the iPhone. Now, whenever I use a blackberry or some other phone with a keyboard, I find it antiquated and hard to use. Also, I always complain that I lose some of the screen footprint to the keyboard, or find the phone too fat when you have a slide-out keyboard.
As most of us know, when we buy the new iPhone, it's an event. There are lines. There are new reports. I remember reading the reports on the Palm Pre launch. Not even close to the iPhone. The fact is that the Android will be interesting to some.
I know there's a certain arrogance to iPhone users. When I'm on a flight, I can see that the iPhone has the huge market share in smartphones. And that's amongst teenagers, college grads, and grumpy old business execs like me. Typical of all Apple products, it does things really well. Getting and organizing music is pretty close to perfect. Unless Verizon is going to do the Palm method of syncing to iTunes, you're going to have to use their method of doing it. Imagine how much it's going to cost.
The iPhone is at least a year ahead of all other competitors in technology. The problem for the competition is that Apple doesn't stand still. Soon, there will be rumors and speculation about the next version of the iPhone. Verizon will be way behind by then.

  • Macbook Air or Macbook Pro? What do you think?

I am currently in my last year of high school and will be off to university next year. I am thinking of getting a Mac but i'm not sure which one. I am just wondering if what do you guys think? Macbook Air or the Pro one? I will be mostly using it for school work and for university work on September. As well as for personal use. Thanks

You should also ask this in the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air forums. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • 16-35 f/2.8 LII vs TS-E 17mm for Landscape photography !! What do you think?

    Hello All,
What do you guys think about the 2 mentioned lenses specifically for architecture or landscape photography?
My measurement aspects are sharpness, DoF, color reproduction, distortion, lateral fringes..
I am eager to hear what mey fellow canonites (don't know if I can say that ) think about it.. !!

I love the 24 TS-E II as the sharpest of my lenses, and it fulfills your criteria the best. It can be easily shifted for 3-image panoramas, or simply used for multi-image panoramas, far exceeding the 17 TS-E (unless motion is involved).
I find the 16-35L II to be one of the most useful lenses, even though it's not as sharp or aberration-free as the 24 or 17 TS-E.
You might consider something a bit longer too -- the new EF 40/2.8 STM or the amazing old EF 50/2.5 Macro.
The 17 TS-E is on my wish list, but I've covered that range pretty well with the above.

  • C# What do you think of it?

    Hello,
Having to learn c# for a project at work.. What do you guys think of it?
Whats your experiences of it, Good Bad or just plain ugly ?
The similarity to Java is unreal!

C# looks remarkably a lot like Java because, it frankly IS Java (Or what I like to call "FrankenJava"). Microsoft had a legal dispute with Sun over attempts to integrate ActiveX and COM technologies into Java directly contradicting their liscensing agreement. Microsoft lost this case, and had to pay Sun a minor fee. Microsoft is very much afraid of Java because it promises platform independence, and they've done a great deal to try to tie down client sided programs to their operating system. For several years during this trial, Microsoft actively went out of their way to try to damage Java's reputation. I found at the time that many Java programmers had come to believe that good client sided software simply couldn't easily be distributed with Java, and that it was too slow and bogged down because of its reliance on a virtual machine. A lot of this perception came from the fact that Internet Explorer, the most widely used browser at that time, shipped with an ancient version of the Microsoft Virtual machine. Most people viewing Java on the web were met with an ancient VM and never saw on their client-sided machines the explosion of Java technology with the introduction of Java 2. So. After convincing a huge portion of the programming community that Virtual Machines were iherantly slow, and that JIT compilation was a bunch of malarky, suddenly C# shows up on their Common Language Runtime. The Common Language Runtime is, get this, a Virtual Machine with JIT compilation. C# is basically what J++ would have become had Sun not stuck its foot in the door.
Now, your comments that C# isn't cross-platform aren't exactly true. There is a very succesful open-source project called "Mono" that is a nearely complete implementation of the standard features in the .NET platform. Unfortunately ASPX, and Forms, and several other components included in the Windows .NET platform aren't standard and aren't yet implemented. The problem here is the fact that since these implementations are not standard, they are subject to change at Microsoft's whim.
As for Visual Studio .NET, C#, and aspx-- I think they're very nice. C# is good because it will keep Sun and IBM on their toes, and may spark more interest from Sun in making Java Open Source. Aspx is a very easy to use web-application development system. It has some quirky things here and there, it seems to hide a great deal of detail from the user that causes some very confusing problems every once and a while, but all together it is incredibly easy to use. The .NET API shows that Java basically taught Microsoft what Object Orientation is. Just look at the differences between Visual C++ 6, where Object orientation is often overlooked for copy and paste templates, and C#. I'm very much excited about all of this change for the better as a long time Windows programmer. I always find myself having to shift mental perspectives between programming for Windows and programming for Linux.
While I have used Visual Studio .NET for a couple major projects, and it is a great deal of fun to fiddle around with, I would have to say that Java is simply the more mature solution for any of these problems. The Open-Source adoption of Java is overwhelming. Java is truly a solid language. It is typed, it forces the user to think about exception handling (which I believe is a good thing despite what Bruce Eckels may think), and while having all of this functionality to keep your code solid it also supports the kinds of abstraction facilities needed to produce the high level patterns that I've come to love in languages like Smalltalk and Ruby.
