  • How to use Jdeveloper 10g (10.1.3.4.0) or 11g to create J2ME apps?

I can't find any tutorials or documentation in how to do this in the current version of Jdeveloper 10g or 11g.
All I could find was the Jdeveloper Wireless Extension 9.0.5 but this doesn't work in either versions.
Also I don't want to do browser apps or I would just do the Mobile ADF, I want to do MIdlets more specifically one that will connect to a Web Service.
If any one could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it!

Due to improvements in network coverage and communications, the need for a truly disconnected/on device application is diminishing. If your requirements can be mostly met with an online solution, I would recommend checking out ADF Mobile in 11g that support you to create a browser application optimized for mobile browsers.
What is the scenario that you are trying to support? Feel free to reply to this thread or to me directly. There are efforts in the works, and I'd like to hear what you are trying to build.
    Thanks,
    Joe Huang

  • Steps to deploy Wireless application to 10G application Server

    Dear,
I have a simple application developed using XForms/XHtml/JSP using JDeveloper Wireless Extension.
I have been able to test the application in embedded OC4J in JDeveloper but I want to deploy this application in 10G application Server installed on another Server.
Can anyone provide me the steps to deploy Wireless Application to the 10G Server.
It will be great help to me.
    Regards,
    Niti

Logon to the webtool (http://oraclemidtierhost:port/webtool/login.uix) and click on the 'services' tab. Here you can add an application. Using the content tab you can publish your application to the wireless portal.
After clicking on the content tab click on Access Control Content to give your user groups access to certain applications.
Test your applications using the device portal entrypoint:
    http://oraclemidtierhost:port/ptg/rm
Read more about publishing application in the online developer manual:

Hello, how could I use SE SDK in Jbuilder? (since now i used Java Wireless Toolkit)

Did you set up the JDeveloper Wireless Extension?
Maybe some of the documents here will help:

  • Need Help  to develop  Portlet in JDeveloper 10.1.2.10

I do not know what the best best way to start develop Portlet in short period of time .I would be glad if any one can share his experience how they started to develop portlet in JDeveloper.

Oracle Application Server 10.1.2 does not contain a portlet container. To deploy to Oracle Application Server 10.1.2
    1.     Install Oracle database 10g (10.1.0.4.2 or later)
    2.     Install Oracle Application Server (10.1.2.0.2) Infrastructure.
    3.     Install Oracle Application Server (10.1.2.0.2) J2EE and Web Cache
    4.     Install Oracle Application Server (10.1.2.0.2) Portal and Wireless.
    5.     Upgrade Portal to 10.1.4
    6.     Configure Java WSRP Container in Middle Tier.
    7.     Start the OracleAS Portal Builder
    8.     Deploy a WSRP Portlet Application in Oracle Application Server.
    9.     Register the WSRP Provider in OracleAS Portal.
    10.     Add a Portal Page.
    11.     Add the WSRP Portlets to Portal page.

  • JDeveloper problem setting up a database connection

I am having some problem setting up a connection to my database. Before I say any more let me explain what I need. I need 2 database connections 1 to a 10g R3 database and one to an 8.0.5.
I do realize that JDeveloper will only connect back to 8.1.7 because of the JDBC version that is installed with it.
What I really need to know is "Is it possible to define and use 2 different versions of JDBC" I really don't want to move back to the version that works with both because I am afraid of what performance/benefits I will lose from the latest and greatest.
The latest version that I can determine will work with 8.0.5 is the last version for 9i.
    Any Ideas would be helpful.
The reason for this situation is that I have a production database that I will have to keep up with until the full version of the system is complete so that is why I even care about 8.0.5.
    Thanks alot for your time,
    Thom

I have a similar problem and I would much appreciate any help in this matter.
I have a wireless network set at home with two computers connected to it:
My workstation called Home-ws and my laptop called Acer. I can access the d:\ drive of my workstation from my laptop without any problem.
On my workstation I installed the Oracle 10g product and on my laptop I installed Oracle SQL Developer. On SQL developer I am trying to create a connection to the Oracle server:
    My settings are as below:
    Connection name: orcl_system
    User name: system
    Password: ******
    Host name: Home-ws
    Port: 1521
    SID: orcl
When I push test I am getting the following error message:
Status: Failure –Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
Are there any special settings that should be made set up a wireless connection to my database?
Then I did the following things below:
    1. I downloaded from oracle.com the instantclient-basic-win32-10.2.0.2-20060508.zip file and unzipped it in a folder called instantclient_10_2. There were a number of DLL and two jar files plus sqlplus.exe
    2. I started sqlplus from that server
    3. sqlplus failed with a similar error as sql developer.
    4. I checked for tnsping. There is no tnsping such and exe on my laptop. I looks like I have to install the DLLs I downloaded them but there are no instructions about how to install them. Should I just copy them in system32 folder?
    5. I looked for firewalls on my Home-ws workstation (where my oracle server is installed) and on my Acer laptop. The firewalls were activated. I added on exception called oracle for port 1521 on both computers and tried to connect again. I tried with both TCP and UDP options and it did not work in both cases.
I am out of ideas. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Julian

  • Browser does not start when testing with JDeveloper

I installed the new JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 and am using Oracle Express 10G database on a Dell Laptop running Windows 7 64 bit and Weblogic 10.3. When I try to run the FOD Demo after following the instructions to install it Weblogic starts up but the browser does not. It does not work with Firefox 3.6 or Internet Explorer 8. I do not see any errors. What am I doing wrong? It worked with the previous copy of JDeveloper.

  • Deploying a portlet to OAS 10.1.2 using JDeveloper

    Hi,
Is it possible to deploy a portlet created in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 to Oracle App Server 10.1.2. ?
I created a simple portlet using the JDev 10.1.3.2 portlet wizard but when I went to deploy the portlet on Oracle App Server 10.1.2 using JDeveloper I get the following error message.
(Earlier I had created a new server connection to my 10.1.2 server. I tested the connection to this server inside JDeveloper and there was no issues).
Does anyone know what causes this issue ?
HTTP response code = 200, HTTP response msg = OK
    Command has finished
    Receiving command exit value
    Receiving command output
**** No output was received from command
    Closing connection to Oc4jDcmServlet
    #### DCM command did not complete successfully (-1)
    #### HTTP return code was -1
Exit status of DCM servlet client: -1
Elapsed time for deployment: 12 seconds
    #### Deployment incomplete. #### 13-Mar-2007 12:45:44
Following on from this, if the above error cannot be resolved does this mean that I can't develop portlets for Oracle Portal 10.1.4 and gain the extra functionality (ADF Faces etc...) using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 ? It appears that 10.1.3.2 is tied into the WebCentre Framework which would require an additional license in order to use some of the components, or am I missing something ?
Am I better off sticking with JDeveloper 10.1.2 to develop my portlets ?
    Thanks.

To deploy portlet to Oracle application server.
    1.     Install Oracle database 10g (10.1.0.4.2 or later)
    2.     Install Oracle Application Server (10.1.2.0.2) Infrastructure.
    3.     Install Oracle Application Server (10.1.2.0.2) J2EE and Web Cache
    4.     Install Oracle Application Server (10.1.2.0.2) Portal and Wireless.
    5.     Upgrade Portal to 10.1.4
    6.     Configure Java WSRP Container in Middle Tier
    7.     Deploy a WSRP Portlet Application to Oracle Application Server.

    well, slowly making some progress.
I have now downloaded and installed the standalone oc4j and am able to sucessfully run it through the command prompt.
I am able to see the splash screen "Welcome to Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE" on the web.
In JDeveloper, went to Tools --> Embedded OC4J Server Preferences, Click on Startup, and under
OC4J Installation to Use for Running and Debugging, I entered C:\oc4j\j2ee\home
However, when I debug my mdb through JDeveloper, JDev displays the message below.
Please help out. What am I missing? Looks like somehow I am not referencing the standalone oc4J.

  • Pre verify tool for wireless Java apps - HPUX

    Hi wireless gurus,
    1. Does Oracle ships a pre verify tool for wireless Java apps for HPUX platform with any of it's products.
    2. Please let me know any such tool for HPUX, preferably with a free demo version

    Hi wireless gurus,
    1. Does Oracle ships a pre verify tool for wireless Java apps for HPUX platform with any of it's products. What kind of pre-verify tools are you referring to?
If you are looking something to verify Java code in general, then Jdeveloper has some features built-in for this purpose.
The Oracle9IAS Wireless service designer allows you test, try, and debug wireless apps.
    2. Please let me know any such tool for HPUX, preferably with a free demo version

  • Wireless = Helpless!? :-)

    Hi!
I'm new to oracle software, 9iAS wireless and java...
    So here some newbie questions:
    1. I've tried to create a adapter like the HelloAdapter Sample
in '9iAS Wireless Edition Developer's Guide'. How do I import
the source code? Only zip HelloAdapter.class and import it?
    2. After creating a workspace, project and class I've tried to
do a make, I got several errors like 'cannot access class xyz'.
Ok, this classes are on the database server not on my client.
Could I copy these classes to the client? Must I develop on the
    Server (mapped drive)?
    3. Where did I find other walktrought's, howto's than that from
    oracle?
    4. Any external websites for wireless development?
    5. In Jdeveloper I could make connections to my database, the
ptg and the designer repository. Without knowing for what
use... :-) But I didn't could connect the wireless repository
with following error: Could not read the error message.
    6. Maybee I didn't found the right docs, but I mean the oracle
documentation is catastrophical. Charateristically the doc's
content and versions didn't correlate to the programms. E.g. the
Service-Designer doc's mentions several adapters that are not in
    the program and vice versa.
    Greetings out of Germany!
    Chris

    Hi Satish!
    That's the docs I mention aovein 6.
I've tried the HelloAdpater Sample out of the 9iAS Wireless
    Developers Guide.
I copied the samplecode, out of the webside, into the jdeveloper
and debug him (LineFeeds) until I got only error message for the
Import-instructions. -> The Import-Files are on the server not
    on my client, I mention!?
Then I saved this file as HelloAdpater.class an zip it. After
that I import the zip in a test-adapter and combine the adapter
with a master-service. When I open the MasterService in the
Service Designer an do a klick on the 'xyz Parameters' -tabs, I
    get the following error message:
Failed to get the value for the object initArguments property
Please make sure that you are still connected to the repository
    (I'm still connected!)
    And under Details:
    oracle.panama.pasm.PASMException: RemoteException occurred in
    server thread; nested exception is:
java.rmi.RemoteException: Server Error; nested exception is:
    oracle.panama.PanamaRuntimeException: HelloAdapter (Bad magic
    number)
    at oracle.panama.pasm.PAMasterServiceModel.getPropertyValue
    (PAMasterServiceModel.java:162)
    at oracle (...)
This is my first java class. So what I do wrong? I think I've
    forgotten something.
I've experience in several other programing-languages, but I'm
completely new to java, Service Designer, 9iAS and the Oracle
    charateristics
    Thanks
    Chris
