JDK/JRE Download Page has Wrong File

Hello,
On the JDK and JRE download pages, the download for Windows Itanium (IA64) actually contains the AMD64 (x64, x86_64) download, even though the file itself is labeled as IA64. Where can I download the Windows Itanium JDK (or even JRE at this point--I just need Java)? And who can I get in touch with to have this issue rectified?
Thanks,
Nick

Intel and Amd's implementations of x64 are basically the same. It's just Intel's Itanium architecture that's radically different. Originally it was supposed to be the replacement for x86, but it ended up in a niche server market. My point is is that the two architectures require differently compiled binaries. Java.com doesn't even list the IA64 binaries as most home users wouldn't have their own Itanium server. That's why you have to come to the Oracle page to get it. The IA64 download says it is meant for the Itanium processor so that only those with Itanium machines will download it. My issue is that the person at Oracle who posted the download doesn't know the difference and is posting the two as if they're interchangeable. While most users won't notice the difference, the few who actually need the Itanium binaries will.

Unless you have already purchased Mountain Lion and are trying to re-download it, it is not available for download. The current version of OS X is Yosemite which is free. If you really want to buy Mountain Lion:
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

  • Link to JRE download page

    Link to JRE download page
I maintain a free Java program which can be started from the Web-site.
On the Web-site I need to tell how Java is downloaded and installed.
What download page should I link to ?
    I found only http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp.
However, this seems to be a download page for developers and JRE is described among
    other technologies and programming tools.
I guess there is somewhere a download page for end-users but I
did not find it even with the site map.

http://java.com is intended for end users.
Note that this site does not necessarily feature the most up-to-date Java version (right now, the version being served up is 1.5.0_09, as opposed to the most current 1.6.0.) Clicking "Manual Update" then "Download other Java software versions " leads to instructions for them.

In the past when I clicked on download a download page appeared and gave me the status of the download. Nothing happens when I download now and it is becoming very frustrating. I can download using safari as the web browser but I prefer Firefox. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Images added to page have wrong file name

I've been using iWeb ever since it came out and thought I knew everything I needed to know but am running into an unusual issue.
I have a folder of images I call my originals. I copy them and place them into another folder called large. I run an Automator action to scale the images down to 750, rename the images large-001aa.jpg and also create a corresponding thumbnail folder and files. When I drag and drop these images into iWeb, the older filenames are there. The filename in iWeb and the actual filename do not match. It's as if it's pulling up an older filename from when the image was first created. I have deleted the page, quit iWeb, etc. What's going on here? Is it pulling old metadata or is there a cache I need to clear? Thanks for any help.

Youtube video of the issue. It has audio but don't know why youtube isnt playing it.

Watch for when I add the image to iWeb. In finder it's small_001.jpg but after adding it to iWeb it's thumbnail...

  • One page has wrong-side number

All the pages of my book have their numbers on the appropriate sides except for page 62, which has its number on the right, like an odd-numbered page.  It is preceded by page 61 and followed by page 63, both of which have their numbers on the right, as they should.  I've tried deleting page 62 and making a new page but the same thing happens again.
I think I may have inadvertently created some sort of extra large page here because when I try to paste into page 62 the pasted item lands over to the left, outside the page proper.

Apparently this is a file corruption that can supposedly be fixed by exporting the file to idml, only it didn't work in  my case.  Here is an earlier discussion http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526991

  • ICloud support page has wrong time

Just to be pedantic... iCloud support page right this moment lists "All services are online" at 02:37 PDT. I am astonished at their powers of foresight, since I am in PDT and MY clock says it is 11:54 AM....

Nevermind. That's what happens when you spend two hours banging your head against a brick wall. My question is revised: Is there a more current status than ten hours ago?

    After he signs in:
On the left side of the page, you will see the name.
    CLICK the name.
    His profile page will open.
Click EDIT next to the name that appears.
Change the name, click Save Settings.

  • Dead links on the Download Page

I noticed a few of the downloads on the Flex page were not working... couldn't figure out a better place to mention this so I decided to post here. Anyone know a better spot? Anywho, the two links I tried to hit were:

    readme.html bin lib
Look familar? thats the directory tree of a jdk / jre download from the first jdk available on the downloads page.
No java docs, and no java docs to download... there are however moronic links for people telling them HOW TO INSTALL jre, just no links to actually download docs, i would thin the documentation button would actually be documentation, not howto's for retards... why this is not an option or compulsory download is beyond comprehension. Developers need man pages, simple end of story. And i'd say 99% of the time 99% of the staff at Sun would also need them.
This was however my second install, the previous consisted of a fake download page linked from google after typing in 'java jdk' which promted me to install Java EE sdk and jdk, /w glassfish.... that's nice and all but the docs that came with that download do not contain java development docs, they contain another subset completely different to standard jdk.
The second install jdk + jre 1.6. have no docs... where to find them is mission impossible due to monkeys writing the website, but netherless i will eventually find them and will only be a few hours or so of my life wasted.
    thanks.
ps. i won't be posting back this is just a vent and a wake up call to website admin.

  • Wrong file size on Linux download page

    Hello:
This is what the Linux Oracle 9iR2 server download page looks like:
    Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard Edition for Intel Linux <http://otn.oracle.com/images/white_spacer.gif> Download the Complete Files <http://otn.oracle.com/images/bullets_and_symbols/red_arrow_bullet_35.gif> lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz (553,607,967 bytes) <--- WRONG!! <http://otn.oracle.com/images/bullets_and_symbols/red_arrow_bullet_35.gif> lnx_920_disk2.cpio.gz (588,817,480 bytes) <http://otn.oracle.com/images/bullets_and_symbols/red_arrow_bullet_35.gif> lnx_920_disk3.cpio.gz (442,135,815 bytes)
The problem has to do with the first file (lnx_920_disk1.cpio.gz).
The stated size (553,607,967 bytes) is WRONG.
I have downloaded those 3 files more than a dozen times, getting
files of varying sizes. After several weeks, I finally had 3 files
with consistent sizes. However, the file #1 produces an error
message from gunzip (unexpected end of file).
If Oracle Corporation claims to be a technology- and Internet-savvy
company, they should know that the best way to avoid problems like
    the above is:
    - offering an FTP (i.e. TCP-based) download option
    - including the corresponding MD5SUM next to each file.
Everybody else (well, probably not Microsoft) is doing this.
    Why not Oracle?
Thanks from a very frustrated sysadmin.

I am getting messages that I can't download and read .pdf files since I have the wrong Adobe reader. I know about their security disasters of course, but I downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe web site and I have other ,pdf file readers as well, and for some reason they won't work either. I have 5 computers running top end processors and RAM. By this I mean I have one, this one which I am using that has an AMD Phenom Black 3.2 Quad-core with 8 GBs of Corsair top DDR2 RAM, my other two AMD have either an Athlon II triple core with 4 GBs of DDR2 Corsair RAM, one with the Phenom X4 965 3.4 GHz Quad-core with 8 GBs of their best DDR2 RAM, and two Intels with the i7 920 Processors using the triple channel 1366 socket processors and one with 8 GBs of low latency DDR3 RAM and the other with 4 GBs of the same RAM. I am getting the message on this one, which has a fresh install of XP Pro X64 operating system, as do the other 4 as well. I have run Avast Business Pro Anti-virus on this one, which I am getting the message on with a single result which I deleted, and also both Spybot Search and Destroy, which came back clean as well as Malwarebytes Antimalware, which got a lot of tracing cookies now removed, and SuperAntiSpware which also found a few cookies also now deleted. Can you tell me what I need to do to get these files to show as .pdf files rather than as a clean blank page. One other issue is that I wish to know how to turn off my downloads so they are saved and Mozilla will give me the option of returning them instead of me losing them all together as it does now. Thanks for your assistance. If there is another Adobe reader I should download and install, could you provide me with the link to it? I appreciate your assistance here
== When I download and try to read a .pdf file and when I am asked to turn off all Firefox files and if I do, I lose them since I need to know how to save them without rebooting my computer.

Brilliant! Problem solved! Thanks so much.

  • Class file has wrong version 51.0,should be 49.0

    Dear All,
I have 2 jdk in my computer, one is 1.7 and another is 1.5. I got a eclipse from my co-worker, checkout project from svn, complied it successful. However, there is error : class file has wrong version 51.0,should be 49.0 when I run it in eclipse( this is google gwt project).
One of my colleague said I should modify one cache file under the eclipse direcotry, but he forgot the loaction of this file.
    Anyone knows?

    After modified this file : org.eclipse.jdt.launching.prefs under : <project folder>\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.runtime\.settings,
    this problem has been fixed.
    The modification is :
    add
    <libraryLocations>\r\n<libraryLocation
    jreJar\="D\:/Java/jdk7/jre/lib/resources.jar"
    jreJavadoc\="http\://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/"
    jreSrc\="D\:/Java/jdk7/src.zip" pkgRoot\=""/>\r\n
    to it.
    eclipse is :
Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers.
    Version: Luna Release (4.4.0)
    Build id: 20140612-0600
    my questions are :
    1. what is this file used for?
    2. when use this file?
    3. why I have to add these information to it by hand rather than generate these automatically when I set jdk in eclipse preference?
    4. why this error occur if this file doesn't has <libraryLocations> when running project(the project compile success before running)?

  • Error Message: "There was an error processing a page.  A file I/O error has occurred"

    Hi
I am running Windows XP on a lab top for a while. Just recently, every time I opened PDF files, I was getting an empty page. So, I installed the latest Adobe Reader. After that I started getting the error message "There was an error processing a page. A file I/O error has occurred".
Does anybody have a solution to this?
    Thanks in advance.

I found my problem. My down scale quits, but quits as in not showing it's working. (I was confused too).  Most all files can not be seen until fully downloaded. For whatever reason, perhaps a glitch or the new modum or video card.  When downloading do not interupt as in wanting to view a page, but go to Network and Sharing Center (bottom right hand corner - click the computer running symbol) and click View Status. See Activity. If the numbers are rolling you are recieving. Waiting until it is complete.  This is madding, but I've learned to live with it.
    Hopes this helps.....
