    Hello!
I´m sorry it took so long to reply, but I´m new to these blogs; and I´ve been travelling a lot... Anyway, I was able to configure Airport Express, but I was told I could use it to expand my wireless network inside my house; which I found it´s not possible.
So, I´m returning my Airport Express to the store tomorrow and try to figure out a way to extend my wireless in any other way.
Any sugestion? Big houses are a problem...
Best regards, and once again thank you!

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • Installer un Airport Express avec un Ipad seulement.

Je vais dans un hôtel en Chine où il y a Internet mais il faut se brancher avec un câble Ethernet. Puis-je installer un Airport Express avec un Ipad muni de l'utilitaire Airport?

I understand - I hope that you understood that by "possible" I meant that it would "possibly work" but it is not guaranteed to work - there are 2 methods to try - with both methods you will probably have to first do a factory reset on the Express and connect the ethernet cable to the WAN port of the Express(circle of dots)  - the first method is with the Airport Utilty - you find the Express via W-Fi and you "create" a wireless network - the second method is by going to the settings on the iPad and then go to the Wi-Fi section and choose the Express - it should then let you "create" a wireless network - I have done this at my house in the US but I don't know if it will work in a hotel in China - bon chance.

There are very few devices that aren't Apple products that the Airport Express will extend and it is likely that your Freebox is not one of those.

  • How to configure Airport Express N router and Netgear G router with Extreme

I have a primary Netgear G router (WRT54G) connected to my cable modem box. I have an Airport Express N router streaming music in another room and also extending the wireless network.
I am planning to demote the Netgear router as a switch + wireless network extender connected to my home theater setup (dish+apple tv+ps3) and purchase a new dual band Airport Extreme connected to the cable box and acting as the main router.
My question is if its possible for the N devices to still use N network while the G devices not demoting the whole wireless network to G? That's the reason why I want the Extreme. If yes, how to go about doing it? If not, I will just buy a cheap switch and use that for the Home theater and leave the current setup alone. Anyone who has a similar network, please advice. Thanks!

My question is if its possible for the N devices to still use N network while the G devices not demoting the whole wireless network to G?
Yes. To do so, you would need to connect the Netgear to the new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) by Ethernet, and then, reconfigure it as a bridge (disable both its NAT & DHCP functions).
In this configuration, the AEBSn & AXn can provide the 802.11n network and the Netgear can provide the 802.11g network.

  • Help needed in configuring AirPort Express for Warcraft!

Will someone talk me through how to configure my AirPort Express so that I am able to play Warcraft? The downloader is telling me that I'm behind a firewall, however I have configured my Firewalls on my computer to allow Warcraft, and it's still not really working.
I'm not the most tech-savvy, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you Duane and others.
This is a very interesting discussion group with a lot of AX users having problems for one reason or another. The main frustration is with, at least for me, the intermittent functionality. As opposed to my wireless laptop, which connects with the network each and every time I turn it on, the AX is good about 75% of the time. And in turn, if iTunes or the Airport Utility can't see the AX there's absolutely nothing you can do to get it to, short of rebooting the laptop, restarting iTunes, etc.
My next plan is to move AX rather close to the wireless router to ascertain if signal strength is the issue.
And I have 'one' last question, are there people out there that have 100% success all the time using AX, especially for streaming iTunes?
    Thanks again.

  • Configuring Airport Express for travel

I have an extra Airport Express that I would like to use for wi-fi access when traveling and staying at hotels with wired access only. I travel a lot where I don't have to bring my MacBook and rely basically on my iPhone. I would like to know how to configure the AE properly at home before I leave so that it always works when I get to my destination.

The key to success here is to know, in advance, the network configuration of your destination ... not always an easy task.
Regardless, you will want to take advantage of configuration profiles.
The AirPort Express Base Station (AX) can store up to five different configuration profiles. You will need to use the AirPort Utility, located in Applications/Utilities to create & save these profiles.
    To create a new profile:
o Open AirPort Utility, select your AX from the list, and then, click "Manual Setup."
o From the AirPort Utility menu, select "Base Station," and then "Manage Profiles."
o Click "+" to create a new profile; give it a name, and then, click OK.
o Set options, such as network name, passwords, Internet connection method, etc.
o When done setting the options, click Update.
    To switch profiles:
o Open the AirPort Utility, select your AX from the list, and then, click "Manual Setup."
o From the AirPort Utility menu, select "Base Station," and then "Manage Profiles."
o Click on the desired profile, and then, click OK to apply the new profile and restart the AX.
Just remember to switch to the desired configuration profile before removing power from the AX.

  • Configuring Airport Express to enable ether port while connected to Extreme

I have an AE (Express) & APE (Extreme). Right now I have them joined, and I can listen to music through my home receiver via optical from the AE. Tonight I thought I would try to use the Ethernet port on the AE and I'm not having any luck. My PS3 will not obtain a IP Address. But when I connect it directly to the Extreme using the same cable it works just fine.
Is it possible to configure the Express to work with the Extreme so that I can still use the optical port & have my PS3 connected to the Ethernet port?
Any guides or help would greatly be appreciated.

You need to configure the AirPort Express (AX) and AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to join together using WDS.
To set up the main base station to share its Internet connection with
    other base stations:
Click the AirPort status menu in the menu bar and choose the wireless network created by the base station you want to set up as the main base station.
Open AirPort Utility (located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Mac, or in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a Windows computer). Select the main base station, and choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu, or double-click the base station to open the configuration in a separate window. Enter the base station password if necessary. If the base station is using the default password of public, you will not be prompted for a password.
Click the Wireless button, and then choose “Participate in a WDS network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu.
Click WDS and then choose “WDS main” from the WDS Mode pop-up menu.
Select the “Allow wireless clients” checkbox if you want client computers to connect to this base station.
Click the Add button and enter the MAC address of the base stations you want to connect to this base station.
If there is a base station listed that you’d like to remove from the list, select the base station and click the Delete (–) button.
Click Update to send the new settings to the base stations in the WDS. By default, the “Allow wireless clients” checkbox is selected. If you deselect the checkbox, and later want to change the settings on the base station, you must connect to the base station’s LAN port with an Ethernet cable. You will not be able to connect to the base station wirelessly.
To set up the AX to connect to the main base station:
Open AirPort Utility. Select the AX, and choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu. Enter the base station password, if necessary. If the base station is using the default password of public, you will not be prompted for a password.
Enter the same network password as the main base station, if necessary.
Click the AirPort button, and then click Wireless. Choose “Participate in a WDS network” from the Wireless Mode pop-up menu, and choose the same channel as the main base station from the Channel pop-up menu.
Click WDS and choose “WDS remote” from the pop-up menu.
Enter the MAC address of the main base station in the WDS Main field. The MAC address is also referred to as the AirPort ID and is printed on the label on the bottom of the base station.
Click Update to transfer the settings to the base station.

  • Cant configure airport express

    Hi,
This is for my daughters computer:
She lost the software that came with airport express. Trying to configure for wireless printing and speakers. She had it running before, but I don't know what happened. All I have is the hardware and a blinking amber light. Should the airport express show up on the airport logo at the top of the screen?
Where can I download the files to install.
    Thanks
    Joe

The software already exists on your Mac. Look in /Applications/Utilities.
If AirPort Utility is there use that. Otherwise use AirPort Admin Utility.
Should the airport express show up on the airport logo at the top of the screen?
You should see the wireless network provided by the AirPort Express (AX).
