Jelly Bean Bluetooth issue

I got my JB update today and it works great except when I'm in my car (Infiniti G35 - 2007).  The phone connects but the voice is all garbled.  If i disconnect it from the car it works fine.  I've read about folks on other networks with the same issue, anyone know if there's a fix.  This is unusable this way.

Well that was short lived - got in my car again and no joy.  It does sound like distortion.  One thing I noticed is that changing the volume on the bluetooth from the phone side has no effect, I wonder if something in the JB update has messed with the ability to change volume via bluetooth and if everything is going out with maximum gain.

Hello. After receiving the Jelly Bean upgrade, my Nexus will not longer connect to WiFi. It doesn't matter if I'm at home, work or out for the night. The toggle will go to "on", but will stay gray and then time out. Also, the OS doesn't seem to be as fast. Is anyone having similiar issues? Is there a fix for this?

I'm sorry the wifi is not working properly since the update. I am able to use wifi on my Nexus like always. If you enable safe mode (steps http://bit.ly/OHgHtf) then try to use wifi, is it still an issue? Please keep me posted.

  • Jelly Bean Headphone Issues

I just got the jelly bean update today.  Now, I have the following issue.  If my headphones are plugged in and I listen to music with Google Play Music, the first song played is OK.  However, when it switches to the second song, it begins to play out the phone speaker instead of the headphones.  If I hit the skip to the next song button, it doesn't do have the issue. It only happens when I let it go onto the next song by itself.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

I experienced sounds issues as well after Jelly Bean. It even killed my battery life. I think it has to do with the latest Google Play Music and its gapless music that is causing the Media Server to go crazy. The Media Server handles sound from various apps. In my case, I saw Media Server was the second highest in battery consumption, and once I started some music, my volume keys would never control the ringer volume until a reboot, it would only control media sound.
I've since clear data and cache and uninstall all updates to Google Play Music. The app is still a little buggy I think, but no more sound and battery isssues. Hope this helps.

  • Jelly Bean OS issues

I was one of the fortunate people that was able to get the Jelly Bean OS update in my Razr before it was pulled.  Ever since then the bluetooth sharing has failed or so I've constantly received the notification saying it quit.  Anyone else been receiving that?

    1) After the upgrade, I have this every time I boot-up.  "Unfortunately the process com.motorola.vzw.vmm has stopped".
    2) Now I noticed that the hotmail account that was added some time ago is having sync problems.  I tried deleting the account, but it won't let me.
This OS is such a great OS, too bad it got released early.  I guess I'll put up with it since my phone is running so much smoother.

  • Droid Razr Jelly bean update issue

yesterday evening my Droid razr got JB update.
After update, the phone won't show up home screen, instead it is continuously loading the boot screen.
i had a VERY LONG CONVERSATION(almost 2hours)  to VZW cust supp guy & these are the options he gave.
    1) i need to buy (with my MONEY) new/recertified device to continue in the service
    2) i need to do an early upgrade & buy new phone.
UNTIL YESTERDAY MY IS WORKING PERFECTLY FINE (with ICS) & VZW OTA update bricked my phone &
THEY WANT ME TO PAY /EXTEND MY CONTRACT BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKE.
& THE customer support guy blames Motorola & google for bad software update.
which is not true BECAUSE THE UPDATE IS A CUSTOMISED ANDROID OF VZW not motorola or Google.
BUT  STILL HE SAID HE CAN'T DO ANY THING.
I NEVER EXPECTED THIS FROM VZW & TOTALLY ****** OFF.

yes, i can boot into recovery menu & can select recovery option.
but after i select recovery option, it will just show some dead green

  • Google Voice Won't Work With Bluetooth Headset After Jelly Bean

I am SO frustrated. I had no idea I was installing the Jelly Bean update when I updated the software on my phone. Note to Verizon Communications team: PLEASE do a better job of communicating significant software updates. I would not have installed Jelly Bean. I learned long ago to stick with factory OS on my phones.
Since the update, I noticed that I could no longer dictate texts and emails. Also, my call recording app no longer worked. I switched to Swype and it would work for a few minutes and then stop.  I could still use my bluetooth headset to make calls and S voice worked (although, like others here, I noticed that it's now worse--it doesn't recognize any contact names I request anymore). After trolling Android forums I found that the problem is with the bluetooth headset. You can still dictate when the phone's bluetooth is on, but when a device is connected, all bets are off.
I almost did a factory reset, but then I read that a hard reset will not restore ICS, nor did it resolve this bluetooth Google Voice issue for the few people who tried it already. In fact, resetting caused more problems (eg., more battery drain and removal of Adobe Flash, etc.).
Does anyone know how I can go back to ICS? Bluetooth and Google Voice are the two features I value most in my phones. This is a NIGHTMARE.

    rcschnoor -
The Bluetooth/Voice Search/Dictation issue is a valid issue for the OP, a valid issue for me and oh yeah, the hundreds of other people affected by the, "Google Voice Search stuck on "Initializing" bug filed here on the Google Android Project page.  Here is yet another reference to the same issue from Android Central.
The "Google Music freezing after Jelly Bean Update on Galaxy S3" is also a valid and documented bug located here also on the Google Android Project page.
So I ask, how does sharing with these people that do have these issues, and are affected by them, that you are not experiencing these issues help in any way?  Isn't that the whole purpose of a community forum to help others?

  • Possible update solution for some Jelly Bean issues on Razr Maxx

I bought a Razr Maxx used two weeks ago and wanted to a post a possible solution to the broken Jelly Bean update. My Razr Maxx (practically new) was slow, lagged, and gave me about 10 hours of battery life. Also, my Wi-Fi was horrible just 10 feet from the wireless router and it ran hot.
Before I chucked it for a used S3 I decided to do what others had done. Keep in mind, the phone had been previously factory reset after the JB update had been OTA'ed to the unit a few months ago. It was put in a drawer as the person bought a new phone.
So to be clear: It had gone through a factory reset but without clearing internal memory and had serious issues. I had cleared the Dalvik cache but it didn't help. Here's what fixed my phone:
I did a battery recalibration. This can be done by running the phone down to zero. Shutting it off and charging it overnight. This may have to be performed twice.
Backed up my files, removed the mSD card and from the OS, erased the internal storage. I also went into the Settings / Privacy and set Automatic Restore to off.
I cleared the Dalvik Cache again.
    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-razr-maxx/232462-how-wipe-cache-without-doing-factory-reset.html
    I  booted into safe mode.
    http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=50079
From the OS within safe mode, I performed a factory reset and had it clear the internal storage again.
    Started the setup process.
    Cleared Dalvik Cache again.
The result is a smooth "buttery" feel (well, as smooth as this platform can offer) no massive lagging like before where the phone would just lock up for five seconds, no over heating, WiFi is seemingly normal and battery life is Maxx instead of Min. To give you an idea, the phone had been on light use and on for maybe 13 on battery when I did the reset. I did the hard reset from a 65% battery and reinstalled all the apps over WiFi and reconfigured. At 2:30 a.m. it was at 1 percent so I set the screen to 100% brightness and played a video until it died about 3 a.m. Basically the screen was on and the phone being used from around 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. after coming off the charger at 8 a.m. the previous morning.
Will this work for you? I don't know but I know the Jelly Bean in place upgrade on this phone is pretty flaky from the complaints.
If your phone has been turned into a pile of junk by the update, you have nothing left to lose unless you're just using it as a bargaining chit to get a new phone from VZW.
Good luck to anyone who tries it.
If you are trying to diagnose battery issues, I recommend GSAM.

  • Jelly Bean Issues - Phone Replaced??

    Hey all!
I was caught up in the "oops" OTA of Jelly Bean on my Razr MAXX (around Christmas).  I do NOT like the update.  Battery life is less and several apps do not work as well, if at all.  In surfing the 'net, there have been a few cases of people taking their phone into a Corporate Store and having it replaced with an ICS version.  Anyone heard of this?  Done this?  Anyone from Verizon want to chime in?
    Thanks so much!
    Michael

    ArnettH_VZW,
Did you all figure this out? This has happened to me at least 10 times in the past 2 months. I just got this phone in March of 2013. I hate waking up and finding my phone at the 4gLTE screen!!!  Here is what I have been doing to troubleshoot it:
1.) Bought a new SanDisc 32GB card which they said will now be compatible with this phone. I haven't received the card yet and the phone still crashed so that is not the issue.
2.) Bought a new battery. It still locked up.
3.) Had Verizon give me a new Sim card. It still locked up.
4.) Used the phone without the memory card. It still locked up.
5.) Wiped the phone and only put Facebook & LinkedIn on the phone. It still locked up.
6.) Called Verizon and complained 3 times, each time I got a new phone (they were very accommodating). It's not the phone. It still locked up.
My wife has the EXACT same phone. We got it on the same day. Her's works fine. I really just don't get this. I have done everything possible to my knowledge and still the phone locks up. I have not rooted or messed with any of the developer options on the phone.
How does a phone randomly lock up on the 4G LTE screen when the phone has NOTHING on it! It's very hard to troubleshoot when the phone does this on it's own with no user action. Verizon doesn't even know how this is happening?
Could this be my gmail account? Could it be the auto-backup on the phone? I REALLY don't get it!
Any new thoughts on this????? No one can help me!

  • Jelly Bean Update - Vibration Issues

Since upgrading to Jelly Bean the other day, certain apps, like my Gmail and Facebook app, will vibrate when I receive a notification when the phone is in vibrate mode. I have both of these app notification settings to sound only, so when the phone is on vibrate, nothing should happen. It's very frustrating because I leave my phone on vibrate when I am at work for phone calls only, but now I have to keep it on silent so that it's not constantly going off. Is this a reported bug or something that will be fixed soon?

Haven't heard about this before actually. Have you tried just repairing the software or perform a reset after the update?

  • Jelly bean issue?

i just updated my nexus to jelly bean (finally) but now when i get a call my phone don't ring ? any fix?

        Hi Solis80,
Oh my! Sorry to hear about your issues with the device after the software update. I definitely want to get this issue resolved for you. Please try removing the back cover, battery and the sim card for about one minute. If this does not resolve your issue, we would need to complete a hard reset. http://bit.ly/swCYZF.

  • Xperia T- Bluetooth Issues since Andriod 4.3 Upgrade.

    Hello All.
Since my phone was upgraded to Andriod 4.3 Jelly bean, I've been unable to make calls from my phone via my BMW car audio as before, as the Bluetooth link keeps dropping out.
I've tried re- pairing the phone to my car, but this has made no difference.
The Bluetooth seems to work ok with other devices.
    Questions are:
    1) Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it.
    2) If not, is it possible to re- install the previous version of Bluetooth that came with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and worked perfectly ok with the car audio.
    3) As a last resort, is it possible to install a 3rd party Bluetooth App to try and resolve the problem.
Hope somebody out there can help !

I Have an Xperia Z and once again since the update battery drains superquick, the phone gets hot and the bluetooth is all but useless, I work for a motor dealer, since this update I cannot pair my phone to most of our vehicles to demonstrate the system (and yes it did pair fine to these cars and vans prior to update), I get the message Bluetooth share has stopped or it will re-boot the entire phone, I did have a conversation with Sony who deemed that I should back up and restore the handset, which once done may or may not work (it didn't) and they seem to be completely denying a problem, which as I have checked various forums there very clearly is a major issue

  • Jelly Bean update completely killed true hands free voice dialing.

Regardless of the fact that S-Voice (as well as Google Voice dialing/search) is unable to recognize most of my contacts, it's also a fact that by definition, it cannot work as a true hands free voice dialer, which is defined as the ability to make a call without touching (or even seeing) the phone AT ALL.  This is due to the simple fact that neither S-Voice nor Google Voice dial/search allows you to say "yes" or "no" to a phone number confirmation prompt.  In other words, you need to see the screen at some point in order select the correct number to dial.  Prior to the Jelly Bean update, this issue was relatively easily solved by using a third party app -- I preferred an app called "Cyberon Voice Commander" -- to take over the voice dialing duties.  The first time you hit the Bluetooth button after installing the app, you could select the default program to respond to the BT button.  I simply selected the Cyberon Voice Commander app, and everything worked from this point forward -- I could dial a number without ever taking the phone out of it's case.
With the Jelly Bean update, however, this is suddenly no longer possible because S-Voice completely takes over the Bluetooth button, and does not allow another app to take over as the default.  The "launch by default" section for S-Voice in the application manager is now greyed out, and says "no defaults set" for S-Voice even though S-Voice is set as the default program to launch when pressing the BT button.  The only "potential" solution is to completey "disable" S-Voice via the application manager, which does allow you to select Cyberon Voice Commander as the default BT button press app, but there are two problems with this.  First, the default resets when turning the phone on even though you select "always" for the CVC app.  This means that you have to re-select the third party app as the default BT button app EVERY time the phone is turned off.  Second, disabling S-Voice is not a solution because I still would like to use it for things OTHER than voice dialing.  Disabling it completely removes it from the menu, making it unusable even for things that it is better at.
I cannot believe how hard S-Voice is being shoved down our throats.  Why would they make it mandatory?  The whole point of Android is that it's supposed to be "open" and allow users to individually decide on their own way of doing things -- i.e. to offer multiple approaches that suit your preferences rather than adopting a narrow minded "we decide what's best" attitude.  This is the whole reason that I moved away from Apple.  This S-Voice situation, however, is just ridiculous.  It's fine to push it as an "option," but please keep it OPTIONAL -- particularly given that it literally CAN'T do what other apps do (i.e. true hands free dialing.)
    Larry

A few things you can try ... turn off the phone, remove the SIM card, wait a few minutes, then reinsert the SIM card and re-boot the phone.  Maybe a fresh connection to the network will improve the signal/call quality.
Do a system cache clear; it won't delete your data:
    Power down phone
Hold volume up/down & power simultaneously until you see the Boot Mode Selection Menu
Use volume down to navigate to 'Recovery', use volume up to select
You should see screen with triangle and exclamation point next to an Android
Press volume up/down simultaneously to go into system recovery
Use volume rocker to navigate to 'wipe cache' and use power button to select
Once finished, use volume rocker to navigate to 'reboot system now' and use power button to select
If all else fails, back everything up, remove the SD card to be on the safe side, and factory reset the phone.  No, it's not a preferred option, but sometimes that is what it takes to 'clear out the cobwebs' after an operating system update.

  • Bionic Owners!  Jelly Bean To arrive soon on your Phones

Just Seen this on my Favorite Site to Visit:   Jell Bean is Coming Soon!  First in Quarter # 2
    http://www.droid-life.com/2013/03/26/motorola-commits-to-updating-droid-bionic-to-jelly-bean-in-q2/

Well it all Depends on a Few Factors: Ya Just cant throw down on the OS with any new thing new there can Be issue or Two Doesn't matter what phone you have)
I suggest the Best way to take the OS is with a Clean Phone do a System Cache clear and or a Factory Reset i didn't and mine is doing Ok but i did Removed a Fare Share of the Apps that i had.. The ones that i left on my Maxx prior to the Update Got Updated when the OS finished it's Update but i'm seeing some really Nice things on my Maxx Especially when i use the Voice search or when have my Bluetooth Device Connected to it and it asks for a Command..
So there might be some bumpers along the Way but if you Make your Phone to were it Takes the Update in a Cleaner state of way it might just work as Smooth as Butter..  b33
