Jelly Bean Xperia T Upgrade Issues

I upgraded my Xperia T to Jelly Bean yesterday and have now found that the flashlight app and the flash/torch on the camera app no longer function, anyone else had this issue and how do I resolve this??

Haven't heard about this before actually. Have you tried just repairing the software or perform a reset after the update?

  • Memory management in jelly bean xperia tablet s and performance issues

Most used apps are always in memory.
while recent apps few remain in memory untill memory is full.
this is how memory management is supose to work.
pretty much same as windows 7
but if this true then why are games lagging ?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3TwBlW5ibk
When their not enough memory games i suspect lagging.
if their not enough memory recent apps getting killed to free up ram.
     why does't this happen ?
And why are their apps in memory that i never use ?
tv sideview never use why its in memory ?
social life again never use again using memory
reader widget again using ram again never use at all
music unlimited again in memory never actualy use
Like i say'd most used apps are in memory all the time while rest is in cache.
But my most used apps are never in ram untill i start them
now if disabled lot apps my tablet become much faster respondsive.
Can sony plz plz plz plz fix memory management stop saying you did ?
You maybe reduced random shutdowns by like 90% or 95% perhaps even 99.99%
Before random shutdowns happend because of broken memory management, which obviously still broken as i see lag in games
sony apps use way to much ram, stop treating it like a computer with infinity amount of ram

I rooted my tablet, and when looking at the processor speed in SetCPU, Sony uses a governor for power management that makes the tablet run jagged... I changed the power governor to ondemand, and got MUCH better smoothness and performance, while not sacrificing my battery life. You should try it out, maybe that'll help with games and such.

  • Possible update solution for some Jelly Bean issues on Razr Maxx

I bought a Razr Maxx used two weeks ago and wanted to a post a possible solution to the broken Jelly Bean update. My Razr Maxx (practically new) was slow, lagged, and gave me about 10 hours of battery life. Also, my Wi-Fi was horrible just 10 feet from the wireless router and it ran hot.
Before I chucked it for a used S3 I decided to do what others had done. Keep in mind, the phone had been previously factory reset after the JB update had been OTA'ed to the unit a few months ago. It was put in a drawer as the person bought a new phone.
So to be clear: It had gone through a factory reset but without clearing internal memory and had serious issues. I had cleared the Dalvik cache but it didn't help. Here's what fixed my phone:
I did a battery recalibration. This can be done by running the phone down to zero. Shutting it off and charging it overnight. This may have to be performed twice.
Backed up my files, removed the mSD card and from the OS, erased the internal storage. I also went into the Settings / Privacy and set Automatic Restore to off.
I cleared the Dalvik Cache again.
    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-razr-maxx/232462-how-wipe-cache-without-doing-factory-reset.html
    I  booted into safe mode.
    http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=50079
From the OS within safe mode, I performed a factory reset and had it clear the internal storage again.
    Started the setup process.
    Cleared Dalvik Cache again.
The result is a smooth "buttery" feel (well, as smooth as this platform can offer) no massive lagging like before where the phone would just lock up for five seconds, no over heating, WiFi is seemingly normal and battery life is Maxx instead of Min. To give you an idea, the phone had been on light use and on for maybe 13 on battery when I did the reset. I did the hard reset from a 65% battery and reinstalled all the apps over WiFi and reconfigured. At 2:30 a.m. it was at 1 percent so I set the screen to 100% brightness and played a video until it died about 3 a.m. Basically the screen was on and the phone being used from around 9 p.m. until 3 a.m. after coming off the charger at 8 a.m. the previous morning.
Will this work for you? I don't know but I know the Jelly Bean in place upgrade on this phone is pretty flaky from the complaints.
If your phone has been turned into a pile of junk by the update, you have nothing left to lose unless you're just using it as a bargaining chit to get a new phone from VZW.
Good luck to anyone who tries it.
If you are trying to diagnose battery issues, I recommend GSAM.

  • Why won't my home wifi work after jelly bean update?

My phone updated to jelly bean on tuesday morning, and i noticed i cannot connect to my home wifi.  It will connect at school or work however.  I have tried turning off and on my phone and my router.  I know its not my connection because my other devices all connect to it.  When i go to the wifi on my phone, it detects my home wifi with a full signal, but when i put the password in to connect, it says the signal is poor and it just repeatedly tries to connect.  Is there any way that i can get my wifi to work again?  If i have to and if there is a way i will uninstall jelly bean if thats the only way to get it to work again.

Here is my current situation with a brand new Razr HD:
    -Linksys WRT54GL with updated firmware
-New Razr HD purchased 5 days ago
    -System Version: 9.16.6.X926
    -Android Version 4.1.2
    -Build Number 9.8.1Q-62_VQW_MR-2
My Mom got the same phone at the same time and has dropped calls, poor wifi signal and range, etc.
I have fully set up my phone with apps and all settings perfect, cleared the system cache, one factory reset and input all app usernames and passwords again, etc.
My phone is perfect, except for not connecting to wifi in a room downstairs from the router where all other devices, a Nook, 10-year old DELL laptop, and Droid Incredible get 4 full bars of wifi strength. This Razr does not connect at all and rarely if it does when I leave the door open gets one bar of strength and is useless.
I love the phone so much I am reluctant to swap it out and lose all my app settings and customization. I read that it isn't mattering if you swap it out, still the same problem. But it's bothering me and I want it right so I went to the Verizon store today to test it and swap it out for a new different one. They don't perform tests and didn't know what I was talking about. Very abrasive staff and manager tried to research the issue for a half an hour, then said they had a call in to Motorola. If I wanted to swap it out I could but that would be my one swap and that's it.
I have actually spent so much time and effort on this I wanted to get a MAXX HD for my wasted time and frustration. That is simply out of the question. I stood there with my phone connected to the Verizon wifi network in the store with one bar of wifi strength, while the display connected to the same network showed a full network signal all bars.
They were so abrasive, demanding that it doesn't matter how many wifi bars you get it will still connect to the Internet. I said no that's not true this device will not connect in my bedroom while all other old devices get full wifi strength. They didn't care.
They were so reluctant in the matter that I decided to walk out and watch for an update to Jelly Bean to solve the issue. People are taking their phones back and it doesn't fix this. It seems to be strictly a Jelly Bean update fix.
I will watch my phone, only use wifi in large areas that usually work fine, etc. My question is: When will there be a Jelly Bean update pushed out to Razr HD owners on Jelly Bean so they will have comparable wifi and signal strength to every other wifi enabled device that exists?
    Thanks
PS. I have tried every single router and phone setting mentioned on any forum. Same thing. This requires a 2nd update.

  • Xperia T menu icons touch problem after Jelly Bean upgrade

    I have Xperia T upgraded to jelly bean 4.1.2 Build Number 9.1.A.0.489 kernel version 3.4.0-g5b052b2-00759-gd9ee069 - Mon Jan 14 15:29:55 2013
After tap my menu icons in jelly bean there is no action. ex. Settings, Messages icon tap.
After switch on developer options -> show layout bounds - it's shown that icons (blue square) are covering the touch area (pink square) and not pushing touch events to action areas, only bouncing but without action. When touching both blue and pink area with finger icons works fine, with touching only blue areas no action. Every other touch are ok.
    Is it common issue ?
    Thanks.

I think this only happens when you enable that under development options. Have you tried to turn that off and check if this still remains?

  • Jelly Bean Upgrade Issues

Hello. After receiving the Jelly Bean upgrade, my Nexus will not longer connect to WiFi. It doesn't matter if I'm at home, work or out for the night. The toggle will go to "on", but will stay gray and then time out. Also, the OS doesn't seem to be as fast. Is anyone having similiar issues? Is there a fix for this?

        ClevBrowns1-
I'm sorry the wifi is not working properly since the update. I am able to use wifi on my Nexus like always. If you enable safe mode (steps http://bit.ly/OHgHtf) then try to use wifi, is it still an issue? Please keep me posted.
    Thanks

  • Xperia T- Bluetooth Issues since Andriod 4.3 Upgrade.

    Hello All.
Since my phone was upgraded to Andriod 4.3 Jelly bean, I've been unable to make calls from my phone via my BMW car audio as before, as the Bluetooth link keeps dropping out.
I've tried re- pairing the phone to my car, but this has made no difference.
The Bluetooth seems to work ok with other devices.
    Questions are:
    1) Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it.
    2) If not, is it possible to re- install the previous version of Bluetooth that came with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and worked perfectly ok with the car audio.
    3) As a last resort, is it possible to install a 3rd party Bluetooth App to try and resolve the problem.
Hope somebody out there can help !

I Have an Xperia Z and once again since the update battery drains superquick, the phone gets hot and the bluetooth is all but useless, I work for a motor dealer, since this update I cannot pair my phone to most of our vehicles to demonstrate the system (and yes it did pair fine to these cars and vans prior to update), I get the message Bluetooth share has stopped or it will re-boot the entire phone, I did have a conversation with Sony who deemed that I should back up and restore the handset, which once done may or may not work (it didn't) and they seem to be completely denying a problem, which as I have checked various forums there very clearly is a major issue

  • Problems after Jelly Bean upgrade

I upgraded to Jelly Bean when it came available and immediately started noticing problems.  The phone became sluggish in general but most notably the keyboard lagged to the point where texting became problematic.  I was unable to use the gallery app - it would open but pictures either wouldn't load or I couldn't scroll through them.  The camera app also wouldn't scroll through my pictures.  The web browser was sluggish even on a strong wi-fi connection.  I did a factory reset twice and lost a ton of information in the process, in hopes the reset would clear things up.  I ended up going to the store and the rep said he would have a new phone overnighted - which by the way, they gave me a used, sorry, a "certified like-new replacement" phone, not a new one.
Now that I have my replacement I'm reluctant to upgrade this one to Jelly Bean if I'm going to continue having problems.  Are/were these just an isolated problem, perhaps something in the phone itself and not the software, or are these widespread issues that will hopefully be addressed?  I've read on forums all over that people are complaining of battery drain but I didn't have that issue, just the sluggishness and the inability to access my pics.

Jbthompson, I know it can be upsetting when an update that should improve your phone's functionality causes it to have problems. I haven't seen the issues you experienced on most Galaxy S III's. Like TheGuyUpNorth stated, most issues are resolved with a factory reset. Do you know if any of your applications were automatically re-installed after the reset? Sometimes the cause of slowness can be related to applications that were compatible with the old OS no longer being compatible with the new one, or conflicting with each other. If you reset and then the same applications are re-installed, then the problem may arise again. Have you completed the JB update on your Galaxy S III replacement yet? Even if you defer or reject the software update, it may come again at a later date. You want to make sure you are ready to complete the update because if it alerts you in the middle of the night and you don't respond, it may go thru. If the battery isn't charged fully that could cause a problem with the update completing. Please let us know if you have any problems with the replacement and we'll be happy to help.

  • Gallery taking 50% battery after Jelly Bean Upgrade

Has anyone else experienced the Gallery taking up about 50% CPU after the Jelly Bean Upgrade?  Any solutions?
My phone dies in half the amount of time now.

I also noticed significantly increased battery drain after the update. I switched my Network to CDMA/LTE also, but I think the real killer was a couple of other settings that the update (re)enabled that I had turned off; the SmartStay option in the Display settings, and the option in S-Voice settings where it continuously monitors the microphone, waiting for you to say the 'magic wake-up command', that one even says it will drain your battery! With all that stuff on, my battery usage list would show "Screen" as the top item, and that was with the phone sitting untouched in sleep mode for several hours! I also found a couple of the "location update" related settings turned on that I was pretty sure I had disabled. I'm not sure which of those made the most difference (I suspect it was the S-Voice thing), but after putting all that back to way I had it, my battery usage is back to normal.
Many people in the DroidForums discussions are saying they had to do a FDR to fix this, but I suspect all that is really accomplishing is turning off all those battery-eating settings that the update (re)enabled. If anyone is still having issues after switching off the Global radio setting, I'd try the stuff I mentioned first, and if you still see battery drain with your settings back to pre-update values, maybe try the factory data reset.

  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean - UPGRADE (15$ ?)

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is faster than Android  4.0 thanks to something Google calls "Project Butter" which involves a few enhancements like VSync and Triple Buffering.  The Sony Xperia 2011 phones suffer from lagginess after update to Android 4.0 so maybe an update to Android 4.1 can resolve this problem.
The chances that Jelly Bean will ever get on 2011 Xperia phones are very smal!
Updating last year phones wiht the latest software is resource demading and this is why i think the solution for this issue is to buy the update
WOULD YOU PAY SONY 15$ FOR THE Jelly Bean UPDATE FOR YOUR 2011 XPERIA PHONE?
(maybe buy the update from the Android Market like any other software)

How wether we will update our 2011 armada of phones with Jelly Bean is for now for the future to tell.
I'd recommend you to keep posted on the product blog on the link below.

  • Jelly Bean For Xperia Neo L?

see Xperia E is getting and xperia neo l has a better processor look at these 2 links http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5149&idPhone2=4647andhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip) find the 2 processors on the wiki link. so far sony never released jelly bean news for it.

so far sony never released jelly bean news for it.
Sony already explained that there won't be an upgrade for any 2011 Xperia (which includes the Xperia neo):
We were glad to provide the Android 4.0.4 upgrade for our 2011 Xperia portfolio across most markets and the majority of models but, after thorough evaluation, we have concluded they will not be upgraded beyond Ice Cream Sandwich.
    (Oct. 19, 2012)
There is no technical reason for that and Sony doesn't need to explain themselves for their decisions.
Nevertheless, Sony should provide customers of 2011 Xperia devices a working version of Android 4.0 ICS. The current software builds are full of bugs and errors and Sony doesn't seems to be willing to fix these problems...

  • Jelly Bean Update - Vibration Issues

Since upgrading to Jelly Bean the other day, certain apps, like my Gmail and Facebook app, will vibrate when I receive a notification when the phone is in vibrate mode. I have both of these app notification settings to sound only, so when the phone is on vibrate, nothing should happen. It's very frustrating because I leave my phone on vibrate when I am at work for phone calls only, but now I have to keep it on silent so that it's not constantly going off. Is this a reported bug or something that will be fixed soon?

        Hello nmsorr,
We would be happy to assist with your device issues today. Upon review this issue is not considered a known issue. However, we always have options to see what we can do to update your device. Have you completed a hard reset on the device after update? Have you ran the device in safe mode to see if notifications come in correctly? Please keep us posted, thanks!

  • The only way to fix Xperia P problems after the jelly bean update!

After the jelly bean update my Xperia got slow, I could not answer phone calls, the call log took so much time to appear , I have tried uninstalling external softwares , reseting the phone , nothing worked. Finally I have downgraded the phone follwing the guidelines provided in this link - http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Android-development/GUIDE-How-to-Install-Jelly-Bean-ICS-Ice-Cream-Sand...
Now my phone is fast , gallery is working fine , I can receive phone calls , no useless chrome by default , the google search widget works fast , the overall performance is much better. So I would recommend people to downgrade their Xperia p to ice cream sandwich and stick with it. OLD is GOLD!

What is your build version now after downgrading to ICS? I could not download 6.1.1.B.1.54 from the list which was best to me.. Please let me know quickly, I'm having the same **bleep** problem in JB.

  • Jelly Bean upgrade for AT300 3G model

Hi. I read an old thread (1 month ago) that JB has not been rolled out to AT300 with 3G due to some modem driver issue. Does anyone know when will this be fixed and when JB update will come for 3G model?.

    Dear mates,
Stuck with the same issue like the most of you - 3G version AT300-105 with "smashing" 4.0.3 Android on it and with no apparent update in sight.
I am really disappointed with this as I need this device for work and to make matters worse, some of Android features I need are full of bugs on this version.
This is a expensive 650 euro tablet from a well-branded manufacturer, not some 80 euro low-end from an unknown manufacturer and I believe the former ones receive better support than we do. For this amount of money I could have purchase just about anything else. too bad I got suckered in for full SD card slot.
I read most of your posts and I am insulted by the "3G driver issue" which was stated . As a customer I could not care less about this excuse. It is Toshiba's hardware, their engineers chose it, and they should deal with it. Just to remind dear friends in Toshiba that there were three major Android updates since their initial release for this tablet:
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (API level 16)
Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (API level 17)
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (API level 18)
Android 4.4 KitKat (API level 19)
They had four releases after the initial one to fix the modem issue and I sincerely doubt they even bothered to try.
If they really cared they could have gone with issuing the newer release without modem drivers with warning for customers and possibility to roll back if wanted, but no, it is easier to use such petty excuse and do nothing. Shameful and disrespectful to buyers. If they don't do anything positive, which I doubt as I have this product for over a year and nothing was done, this will probably be the last thing I ever got from this company.
