Jerks and pops in rendered results CS6

I have the creative cloud membership and I have the latest version of Premiere installed. Over several projects I will have Jerks and pops in the results of a file rendered as Mpeg2 HDTV 23.976fps. Preview playback is smooth while editing but the output has problems. The problems are consisten after repeated rendering. I found a workaround where I will Slip the clip one frame or so in either direction. Something changes and it gets redone without the same problems, but new errors start cropping up. I end up spending hours watching the final mpg2 file, slipping, and rerendering until I finally have a smooth product. This is a BIG pain in the butt! I surely hope this problem gets solved soon.

Okay Folks,
I never got the MPEG2 Encoder to work cleanly but I switched to the H.264 encoder and it worked on the first try! I always had problems playing my H.264 files so I pulled the bitrate down to 15Mbps instead of the default 32Mbps. The quality at 15Mbps is great and My computer was able to handle playback as well.
CHEERS!

  • When playing FarmVille I continually get a window poping open that is title "about blank" it then closes and pops open again, preventing me from doing anything on Farmville how can I stop this?

when trying to play FarmVille with Firefox on my laptop, a window continually pops open with the title "about blank" then it closes, and pops open again right away. Because of this I can not manage to do anything on the FarmVille screen. This does NOT happen on my desktop machine. Both are running Windows 7 64 bit. How can I prevent the window from poping up all the time? Something is continually sending a request, but I do not know what it is. Thank you for any help or suggestions. By the way, Google Chrome works perfectly, but I prefer Firefox.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Project Bloating and Repair in Premiere Pro CS6; Max Project File Size? Adobe Coders Welcome...

    Greetings.
After a few browsing sessions, I haven't found direction for a specific problem within a project bloat. First and foremost; we're always backed up. I have a restoration copy of the project that I will reference herein. Check that off the list.
Numerous people have posted here and around Creative Cow with problems regarding an expanding file size using CS6; watching files go from 300mb to 2.8gb. The unfortunate problem is when the project crosses a magical line that results in an inablity to open, import, export, or access sequences contained therein. Has anyone addressed a solution to repairing Premiere CS6 save files? Reducing file bloat? I haven't seen anything (recall the FCP7 repair days... solutions existed because problems were frequent; thankfully not so bad with Adobe).
Does anyone inside the code size know the maximum project file size that Premiere can read? I created a monster... Over 200 sequences utilizing 4.5TB of footage, stretching from Red codecs to EXCam to MPEG4 and H264. And for some time, the project size was manageable. Then, it inflated. And one day, randomly stopped opening. None of the auto-saves open.
Just curious. Files aren't the problem, but the 2.8GB save file is. Machine specs // etc. are openly available if required; no bad ram, no problems with all projects (just this one beast).
    Cheers,
    Jon Michael Ryan

  • 5520 clicking and popping

I just recently purchased a 5520.  It has worked fined for the first couple of months, however now it is making a loud clicking and popping noise before printing and inbetween pages while it is printing.  It almost sounds like the print head is moving to the side and then instead of stopping the belt keeps tugging on it and starts to slip.  Obviously, I have no working knowledge of the internals of this printer but it seems like teeth on a belt forced through its mating surface and the resulting noice that comes from it jumping teeth.
Recently, I opened the printer lid while it was making the noise and it seemed like the print head was in a strong bind all the way over to the side of the printer.
I have powered cycled the printer and it still has the same problem.  It is not every time I print, but it is becoming more frequent.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Hi, if it's a recent purchase it's likely still within warranty so I would definitely recommend contacting HP Phone Support as you might need a replacement.
Check warranty status (enter your printer serial no.)

  • Why does iMovie project jerk and stop and start in preview?

I have been making iMovies with iMovieHD for years using photos with the Ken Burns effect.
Recently after a movie project gets more than a few minutes long with typical audio and transitions, I no longer can preview it without it jerking and stopping and starting.
Obviously this does not allow me to see what I am doing, how the music matches or doesn't match my photos.
I have tried emptying the iMovie trash and emptying my finder trash, no change.
I have made sure there is plenty of hard disk space on my internal drive, where iMovie and the movie file is located.
    Any ideas?

    Hi
    a. Emptying the trash - something I alway avoid - no matter why.
    b. Plenty of free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? > 25Gb after
project is captured and edited ?
    c. Deleted iMovie pref file ?
    d. Known trouble maker: Lot's of audio clips. eg > 50 gives a stuttering result
Mix down audio to one audio clip.
    e. What kind of original material. 12-bit audio or recording in LP-mode (90min
on a 60min tape) GIVES problems + audio sync troubles.
    f. .mpg4, .avi, .wmv and other ailient file formats also is problematic.
    g. movie stored on an external USB/USB2 hard disk - often troublemaker.
I use FireWire AND ONLY: Mac OS Extended formatted -

  • Hisses and pops in both Final Cuts

    Hey guys,
I've been having some weird problems. Since I upgraded from Final Cut Express to Final Cut Pro, all my video (both rendered and exported to various formats) have hisses and pops in the audio. The problem now also occurs in Express. Did an audio codec get damaged or something?
By the way, I'm simply a beginner. I'm working as an intern, and haven't worked with video all too much.
    Can anyone help me?

The MP3 thing does help a lot. Fixed some other files by converting the audio up front. But in many cases the problem still continues to exist, even after re-installing. For example when importing video files of different formats. when rendered and played, the sound completely disappears for a fraction of a second every couple of seconds.

  • When I'm in LR and click edit in PS CS6, I lose my edits and presets once in PS.  How do I fix this?

When I'm in LR and click edit in PS CS6, I lose my edits and presets once in PS.  How do I fix this?

OK, as you noted, the problem began when you upgraded to LR6, but you did not upgrade PS. LR6 needs Photoshop to have Camera Raw 9.0 for full compatibility. But, there is a workaround. Normally, LR passes the raw file and the adjustment metadata to PS for rendering using PS's camera raw, but LR can render the file as well. Here are the steps to take:
    1. Edit > Preferences > General. Under "Prompts," choose "Reset all warning dialogs."
    2. Now choose "Edit in Photoshop." You should see something similar to this warning dialog; choose "Render using Lightroom."
In this way, all the adjustments you made in LR will be rendered and the already rendered file will be passed to Photoshop.
Note the checkbox "Don't show again." You may have checked this once before, which is why you may not see the warning dialog. The reset in step 1 brings this warning back in case you've dismissed it.
    Hope that helps!

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • Rendering Results Disappear

    Hello
I need help. This is what usually happens:
I render a project (on default scratch discs). After it's finally done, when I click on anywhere in the timeline, all the rendering results disappear at once, and I get the dreadful red lines again, as if nothing has ever happen... the way I have been dealing with this is that I save the project as soon as it's rendered, without "touching the timeline", then I close the project and reopen it. But that can't be the solution... Also, when I close FCP, and re-open the program, it tells me that some FIN files are offline/missing, and most of the time the project appears with those *&$# red lines again.
I am at a loss. Does anyone else have these problems?
    THANK YOU!!!!!
    Dominik

Thank you to both Michaels!!! Quick resonse! Sorry it took a while but I tried to render and check the results.
I have all my files on the Mac HD which is formatted MacOSextended (journaled). I don't have diskwarrior, but I ran the disc utility and also AppleJack twice. Still the same problem...
    FCP 6.0.3
    Sequence setting: DV NTSC 48kHz, 720x480, 29.97
The source footage format: .mov, DV 720x480, cinematized from original NTSC DVD
Why rendering: For some reason, when I import the mov and put it in sequence, it always tells me that "the clip does not match the sequence's setting or any other sequenze presets", so I say ok to match sequence settings to clip settings, and that's when all the rendering has to be done in order to watch immediate results.
Scratch disc is on my HD; user/documents/Final Cut Pro Documents/
Source footage is also on my HD; desktop/user/clips
THANK YOU SO MUCH, guys, for your help!!

I have the same thing happening on my iPod Touch 5th gen. Been happening for at least a month. I have updated to the most recent version of iOS which hasn't solved the issue. Must be a bug that they didn't get around to resolving yet, a year later. Really annoying to have it pop up when you are in the middle of a game though.

  • Iphone 4s usb audio crackling and popping

hi my iphone 4s crackles and pops when listening to music using usb audio playback in my car
my ipod is fine just the phone that does it
anyone know of a fix ??

The system in your car is probably not designed for use with an iPhone. The radios in the iPhone can put out quite a bit of interference. If the system is not designed for it, this can result in very poor audio quality. Try putting the phone in airplane mode and see if the problem persists. If it goes away, then it's a compatibility issue with your head unit.

  • PlayStation 3 (ps3) audio crackle and popping bug

I'm curious if anyone else out there has experienced this problem.
For a couple years now, I regularly render my projects to mp4 (h.264) files at 1080p for playback on my PS3. In Premiere Pro CS3, I had made a couple customized presets with all the right settings for smooth playback on the ps3, which took quite a bit of research and experimentation to get just right.
Now in Premiere Pro CS5, the few h.264 default presets I've used work really well out of the box, with one small caveat. On a particular music video I've been working on, the audio has quite a few crackles and popping sounds in it. I've researched the heck out of this, initially thinking it was a problem with my render... deleted my audio peak files over and over, changed projects to 44.1kHz and/or 48kHz, use the original WAV file, etc etc ad nauseum. What was most confusing is that I couldn't hear any of these popping sounds when I played the exact same mp4 on my computer. In fact, it sounded perfect on my computer no matter what I did. In diagnosing the problem, I connected my computer directly to my stereo (bypassing the PS3) and sure enough the audio was perfect... so...
My thinking now is it's some sort of a bug or perhaps a very nuanced incompatibility betweeen the ps3 and the mp4 file. I've re-rendered the mp4 in countless ways, tweaking nearly every encoding setting possible. So far, I've found two things that work and cause the audio to play without any clicks or pops on the PS (again, they all sound fine on the computer)-
    1. Rerendered at 720p instead of 1080. Audio plays perfectly.
    2. Replaced my video track with a single white color matte, rendered at my original 1080p. Audio plays perfectly.
Anyway, that's where I'm at. Given it plays so well on my computer, I'm half thinking the PS3 is on it's way out as my HTPC solution.
Curious if anyone else in the community has experienced anything like this?

Just some thoughts here. Many users have had issues (some Audio on Export) with Apple's H.264 CODEC (probably the most common one?), and have had much better luck with the H.264 from either Lead, or from MainConcept. Not sure if either have a trial, but might be worth a try.
Otherwise, I am at a loss to explain why your H.264's are producing bad Audio on the PS3 (have never used one). It is also odd that by dropping the Video resolution down, or replacing it with synthetic Video, would have the affects that you describe - odd indeed, at least to me.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Crackling and popping audio

Hi, I have a weird audio issue with Premiere Pro CS4. I create the project and timeline with the settings I need to use:
    AVCHD
    1080i
    30 FPS
    48 kHz Audio
I import my clips (.m2ts files) with no problem except "The file was busy, and couldn't be updated" in the error panel. When I play the file in either the preview or source monitor, the audio has some weird popping/crackling going on. I have played the video files in other programs other than Premiere and have had no such issue. I've tried exporting the clips using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 as different file types, but the popping is there also. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I have found a workaround that is annoying as all-get-out but WORKS to eliminate the clicking and popping.
The Sony camera comes with software Picture Motion Browser (PMB). Right click on the clip in PMB and choose Convert to MPEG. The .mpg result will NOT feature the clicks and pops in the audio. Open the file in Soundbooth and save the .wav file as a separate file; I actually prefer to convert the 5.1 file to stereo (in SB, "save as" brings up a dialog box in which 5.1 is the default. Change this to stereo and the soundtrack will not likely lose a whole lot (the typical camera uses a built-in pair of microphones - just HOW are you getting effective rear-surround, etc.?) but if placed on the Audio 1 track (which is not possible with the standard .m2ts associated audio file) it will display an optical image of the track and be much more malleable than the original, inscrutable version.
This conversion also allows me to use Soundbooth to normalize the audio (I do a lot of video of small theater and opera companies). Simply unlink (right click the video/audio combination on the timeline BEFORE doing any editing, choose "unlink" click in white space and then click on and remove the original garbage that masquerades as an audio track, then drop in the new one.)
I have a very strong sense that Adobe tech support knows full well that there is a problem and stonewalls tremendously when asked for a solution. They would much rather make us jump through repeated hoops (such as ftp-ing huge files and then having the complaint ultimately ignored) than admit that this part of their software is not ready for prime time.
In general, what happens to audio from AVCHD sources is very unsatisfactory. I have had numerous instances where the software has "given up the ghost" and simply not finished laying down a sound track, leaving the end of the file silent. Again there are workarounds (usually putting the clip into a brand new project works but WHY should we have to do that?)
I hope the next iteration of PP has a lot of thought put into this problematic but potentially extremely useful format.
OH...I almost forgot...after you're done, and have spent hours of computer time making the MPG conversion...don't forget to delete the .mpg files. They are useless since you're using the .m2ts video file and you've extracted what you need, i.e. the audio. What a waste of time instead of Adobe just fixing whatever the mismatch (and it's likely a mismatch of something) that causes the crackling. I can't tell you how annoying it is to hear a click in the minute of, say an oboe or violin solo!!!

  • FCPX + Lion + Cannot handle AAC or Apple Lossless audio in H.264! (Clicks and Pops)

This is a problem I've been having since I upgraded to Lion, and I've posted this response in other forums, but wanted to start a fresh one with a video I created of my findings. In a nutshell: FCPX in Lion cannot handle AAC audio in H.264 files since it will create audible clicks and pops when it subsequently renders the footage. This ***** because the iPhone 4 for example records as H.264 and AAC for the audio. Below are my findings:
So I think I figured it out! (I'm pretty sure FCPX + Lion has issues with compressed audio formats, ESPECIALLY AAC and Apple Lossless!) There's a video of my findings below:
    1. I tried doing exactly the same thing I was trying to do on my machine on a co-worker's Snow Leopard MBP, and it worked out fine (it was just importing an iPhone 4 .mov and exporting it in FCPX). The output file was pretty much the same as what came in.
    2. I found out that only movies from my iPhone 4 were coming out all crazy in the audio, yet my Canon T2i files were fine. Both are H.264, yet the Canon T2i records audio as Linear PCM, while the iPhone 4 records audio as AAC.
    3. So I got an idea to use screen flow to record a youtube video and record the computer's audio. Then I decided to export with different formats, both as HD NTSC standards and as web standards with H.264.
    4. I found out that both NTSC and H.264 standards were perfectly fine, SO LONG AS THE AUDIO WAS LINEAR PCM (or uncompressed!).
    5. I then exported the same clip (both times as H.264) and ONLY changed how the audio was rendered (either Linear PCM/Uncompressed or AAC) and VOILA, I got click and pop artifacts ONLY in the AAC version. The ones that were output as uncompressed audio were totally fine!
    CONCLUSION:
Final Cut Pro X on OS X Lion has issues with compressed audio, MAINLY AAC and Apple Lossless! Anything that is Linear PCM/Uncompressed should be fine! For example, MPEG 4 AAC Enhanced Low Delay at 320K came out 95% OK, one or two clicks.
So if any of us are working with material where the audio came to us already as AAC (like an iPhone 4), then we have to rip the audio out somehow first (like through VLC for example) and import it separately as an uncompressed file.
Here's a youtube video showing exactly what I'm talking about:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDw4btShH0s
Anybody else have any thoughts on this before Apple comes out with a fix?

I was having the same problem and spent several hours on the phone with apple working with one of their 3rd level support guys. Their is deffinatley a issue with Lion and FCPX. I was told  they would escalate to a FCPX engineer and they would get back to me in two days. In the mean time I went to my local apple store and was able to recreate the issue on every machine I tried. Apple did call back and confirm that there is an issue with the way FCPX and Lion handle the import and export of AAC files. They said there would hopefully be fixed in a future update.
The best work around I found is to take your AAC file and convert it to a WAV. I used compressor to do this and it seems to have solved the problem.

  • Using previous rendering result

    Hello all,
I write an effect plugin which work interactively with layer/composition viewer. Effect uses its own brush (see Paint or Distort->Liquify effects for example) and user can draw something on video with this effect.
    Example:
So i rerender current frame with each user action (with each new brush stroke added). I save all strokes and can render resulting frame from "source" layer frame, but this way is a bit slow. More efficient solution is to use result of previous rendering and apply new brush stroke to it.
Is there a way to get previous rendering result for current frame in AE? (it should be saved in cache at least).
    Thanks!

    Thx for reply, shachar!

you can't ask AE for the last output of your plug-in.
maybe it's cached, maybe it's not, but either way you can't access it.

it's very similar to what you'd want to do if you choose to cache your output.
Yes, i agree. I thought about it too. But when I attempted to realize this solution first I faced with the problem of input frame resolution chaos (when AE can't calculate result realtime, it try to get result with lower resolution). Indeed, your proposal partially solves the problem.
    Thanks again.
