Jerky 6500 Slide Video Playback

The spec says it should playback video in QVGA(320x240) encoded as H263 or Mpeg 4 at 30fps. I just cant get it to play anything back without it being extrememly jerky and even sometimes losing sync with the sound.
Stupidly I would have expected the software provided with the phone (Ulead Video Toolbox Basic) which asked for my phone version during installation to at least make videos which can be played on the phone. I've had the video stop on several of them during playback, and they're always jerky.
I tried encoding things in SUPER, that also provides jerky playback. Does the phone need to be returned, or am I doing something wrong? Any ideas gratefully received.
Thanks :-)

I'm still on the quest to resolve my video playback issues. I recorded a video from the phones camera in it's maximum setting, 640x480 at 15fps, so i was kinda making the assumption that if I encode a video at QVGA 320x240, then because the video is a lot smaller it'll playback at 30fps.
I did an analysis of the video from the camera, and the interesting thing is that it has created a video using sound settings which I dont seem to be able to produce in any software, specifically it is using the AMR_NB with 2 channels, which doesnt seem to be an option with any encoder (including Super which is extremely flexible usually, in fact they say in their FAQs that it's not possible for this type of codec but nokia did it), does anyone know what can produce video conversion with these settings?

  • 6500 Slide - Video's

    Hi,
I have a 6500 slide phone.  I've taken video shots, and uploaded them to the pc.  I then noticed that, as I'd filmed them using the camera sideways, so my video's are showing sideways.  Is there any way of changing the orientation, so I can download them to the web to share with my friends?
    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Thanks for your reply.
I wanted to change it because it's sideways on.
I think next time, I'll make sure I have my phone horizontal instead of vertical when I'm filming something.

  • RE: Nokia 6500 Slide Video Recording

    Hi,
I was wondering what the maximum length of video recording is on this phone ie is it as long as memory card lasts or is there a maximum time in mb or time that it can record.
My wife has the 6500 slide but our toddler got his hands on the phone and Ibought a micro sd card to put in it but it does not stay in it, I was wondering if this is the design or if there should be plastic bits to hold the microsd card in place which may have got damaged. I thought maybe it was secured by the phone back but when i remove it carefully I see the microsd is nowhere near where it should be.
I am looking to change my phone and would like  a nokia which can record in high or low quality like the 6500 slide, will save video when the battery is running low rather than just turn off and lose the video recording. I have another brand of phone and this happens sometimes when making a recording and it is lost. It seems with the 6500 slide this does not happen but it saves it instead. I would also like it to have good battery life if possible,
    Thanks in Advance,
    cmkm35

hi there Candi86, i just answered your question about the memory cards not being recognised in your 6500 slide, so i'm guessing in the four hours between questions you went and bought a 6500 slide . so quick to decide!
anyways, to answer your question here, yes 6500 slide does make/receive video calls, the camera is on the front near the earpiece. you will see two smallish holes, one of these is the VGA camera using for video calls and the other is an ambient light sensor. it would be awkward to use the main camera on the back as a video call camera! but no worries, as i've stated, the one on the front serves this purpose.
enjoy your 6500 slide, its a good phone!

  • 6500 Classic video playback

  • Video playback problems [6500 Slide]

Video playback at 25, 29.9, 30 fps is jerky, only 12.5, 15 fps videos play correctly... Lowering the bitrate or using a less complex profile/codec doesnt help much. Funny thing is, it can play its own videos which are whooping 640x480 @ 25fps and 2000-3000kbps [for comparison: the videos i encoded were only 320x240, 25fps, 200kbps] without a problem! O.o So, why has it problems playing my less complex to decode videos?
I tried following ways of encoding in SUPER:
    MPEG4
    h.263
    XviD (h.263/basic)
    320x240
    25, 29.9, 30 fps
    AAC
    2ch
    44.1kHz
    96kbps
    All jerky! :[
But halving the fps... Viola, it plays fine!
    Is this a known issue?
Will this be fixed in the next firmware? Hope so! >.
Cant nokia release some video coding tool with profiles for each phone model, to ensure flawless playback!? -.-
    Regards, KD

I found the intel driver doesn't like xv output.  In VLC go Settings > Preferences > Video > Output modules and set X11 video output. See if that works.  If it does you can do similar things to totem using something in the gnome-media package (can't remember what exactly of hand...)

I'm downloading using RealPlayer But the video playback is jerky.  The audio playback is OK.
Please can anyone suggest a solution.
PS Would upgrading to RealPlayer Plus help?

I can't understand how internet speeds can be the cause of the problem.  My problem with a jerky playback is that I have already down loaded.   Could this be to do with my computer (I maybe able to persuade my wife that I need a new one).  Earlier I was listening to a clip of the MJQ, downloaded from UTube, and although the sound was good the picture was not.
My computer is an iMac with an Intel Core 2 Duo with a processing speed of 2.8 Ghz.  Does this information help?

  • Jerky H.264 HD video playback

    Hi folks,
I finally installed QuickTime 7.0.2 for Windows. Enough of those preview releases already... Anyway, trying to play back some HD stuff I downloaded previously is giving me problems. It's a new 3.0 GHz Dell and I tried to play the 720p version of Batman Begins. During playback the screen is jerky as if there is a resource problem (though the sound is OK). I checked and CPU usage is below 50%. I even tried re-installing, no dice. Finally I tried to play the larger 1080p version and that works perfectly. My only conclusion is that something's wonky with the PC version of the 720p HD videos (same thing with Fantastic Four). Now the videos play nicely on a Mac and in VLC, so it has me stumped.
    Cheers,
    Michael

I have H.264 video playback too. I am have tried vlc player and it plays a little bit smoother but still not very well. I have looked at my settings in quicktime but it hasnt helped. Anyone have some troubleshooting ideas???

  • Does anyone have problems with video playback, jerky video?

Video playback on my MacBook Pro is jerky, really not workable at all.  Has anyone else had a similar problem?

This is my pet checklist for questions regarding FCP X performance - you may have already addressed some of the items but it's worth checking.
Check the spec of your Mac against the system requirements:
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/specs/
Check the spec of your graphics card. If it's listed here, it's not suitable:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4664
Make sure you're using the latest version of the application - FCP X 10.0.3 runs very well on my 2009 MacPro 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 16 GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB. I run it with Lion 10.7.3.
Check that you have at least 20% free space on your system drive.
If you have not already done so, move your Projects and Events to a fast (Firewire 800 or faster) external HD. Make sure the drive's formatted OS Extended (journalling's not required for video). You should always keep at least 20% free space on the Hard Drives that your Media, Projects and Events are on.
If you are getting crashes, there is some conflict on the OS. Create a new (admin) user account on your system. Do NOT import any of the settings etc from the old account - simply use FCP X from there - if it runs a lot better, there's a conflict and a clean install would be recommended - but remember, if you reinstall the system, and then use Migration Assistant (or anything else) to import all your old settings etc etc, you may well be importing the cause of the conflict in the first place.
Keep projects to 20 mins or less (about half that for Multicam). If you have a long project, work on short sections, make them into Compound Clips and then paste these into a final project for export.
If you ever experience dropped frames, I strongly recommend you use ProRes 422 Proxy - it edits and plays back like silk because the files are small but lightly compressed (not much packing and unpacking to do) - but remember to select 'Original or Optimised Media' (FCP X Preferences > Playback) just before you export your movie, otherwise it will be exported at low resolution.
If you have plenty of processor power, for the ultimate editing experience, create Optimised Media - most camera native files are highly compressed and need a great deal of processor power to play back - particularly if you add titles, filters or effects. ProRes 422 takes up much more hard drive space but is very lightly compressed. It edits and plays back superbly.
Hide Audio Waveforms at all times when you don't need them (both in Browser and Storyline / Timeline). They take up a lot of processor power. (Use the switch icon at the bottom-right of your timeline to select a format without waveforms if you don't need them at the moment, then switch back when you do).
Create folders in the Project and Events libraries and put any projects you are not working on currently, in those folders. This will help a lot. There's a great application for this, called Event Manager X - for the tiny cost it's an invaluable application.
    http://assistedediting.intelligentassistance.com/EventManagerX/
Unless you cannot edit and playback without it, turn off Background Rendering in Preferences (under Playback) - this will help general performance and you can always render when you need to by selecting the clip (or clips) and pressing Ctrl+R.
The biggest single improvement I saw in performance was when I upgraded the RAM from 8 GB to 16.

  • Video Playback (Jerky)

My iPod classic 160 sometimes slows down when playing a video. The sound continues without a hitch but the video slows down to a crawl then catches up to where it should be. Does anyone else have a similar issue with their iPod and video playback?

I have the same problem occasionally (< 5% of the viewing time). There seems to be no pattern to when the picture starts to freeze while the audio continues normally. I have about 110 GB of videos on the i-Pod with about 20 GB of free space.
I just assumed that the processor was maxed and the iPod just bogged down. Open to any suggestions though.

  • ITunes / Windows Video Playback.. (what, you actualy want to WATCH vid's?)

I'm sure there are several people out there that are having the same or similar problems, but because I can't seem to find them with the exact problem I'm having, I thought a new thread would be appropriate....
Upgraded from 6 to 7 yesterday... music seems to play OK (not as good as 6, but not all the issues other people are having). Now video playback in iTunes is little more than a slideshow with audio to (almost) match.
When I go to play back any vid podcast, or other video in my library for that matter, iTunes bumps my processor up to 100% and holds it there, and the video does little more than skip and bounce through the entire playback (even if the overlay controls go away fully, the slightest mouse movement brings them back). The audio quality seems to almost follow the video, but they get away from each other (the audio was about 2 seconds ahead of the video/slide show while watching the current version of Photoshop TV). Any other video player works fine, but if I wanted to use them, I would have never installed iTunes in the first place, the idea being that the integration was the blessing.
I USED to be able to watch a video, use Photoshop CS2, have Flash 8 open behind it, After Effects running on a seperate monitor, browse the web, and play freecell all at the same time, with several background utility style apps going all at the same time with out a hickup.
After trying the IDE fix's, the sound setup fix's and any other fix's found in the discussions (and yes, reverting them after they failed to fix the problem), I'm still having an issue, and now I can't find iTunes 6 to try to get back to a good time in life... oh why oh why apple, why do you have just as many issues as windows? I had hoped for so much more....
Anyone? Any Ideas? Anyone willing to email me itunes 6 so I can get back to a better time in life? Or provide answers? I've got a horriable track record with apple (over 20 business stopping questions, and to date 0 responses) so I am about 2 minutes from giving up
Sorry apple, but this is way past frustrating... were all your win/tel beta testers using mac's?
HomeBuilt Windows XP Pro ATI 9700 Pro / AMD Athlon 64 3800+ / hampster on treadmill running his head off...

  • How to use mobile camera 6500 slide as webcam

anyone can help me with this problem?i want to use my mobile camera nokia 6500 slide as webcam on pc.is it any software available for this application. i'm already know about mobiola and wwigo but i can't use them because my phone does not support sis file and my laptop actually does't have bluetooth.plz help me immediately

Nokia 6500 and many other Nokia models use the Series 40
    software platform. According to
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/Resources_and_Information/Explore/Software_Platforms/Series_40/
it is "the world's most widely used mobile device platform".
Many of the phones have a camera and they are even able to
do video calling (video telephony), e.g. Nokia 3120 classic,
as they have a front camera also.
I'm sure many users of such phones (including me) would like
to have an application that would turn the phone into a
    webcam device for a PC.

  • Volume control for video playback through Apple TV2

I am trying to configure the volume settings used on airplay through apple TV2 and a macbook pro and Iphone4 all with most recent updates.
I am using the apple remote app on my iphone to control the apple tv.
    Whats working:
Using the pandora app on my iphone through aiplay to the apple tv, I can control the volume using the plus and minus buttons on the side of the iphone for volume control. Very cool and easy.
Using the apple remote app on my iphone I can control the itunes volume of different speakers by clicking on the airplay icon and using a slider.  Not as cool as using the hard +/- buttons but still works.
    Whats not working:
Controling volume on appleTV2 through the iphone remote app for video playbacks like netflix, and youtube.
Why I want this: RIght now I can control most of the multimedia right from my iphone including cranking the music up:) But when I switch over to video(Netlfix, Youtube) I have to get out another remote (stereo reciever) to control the volume. It seems we are so close to being able to control everything off the iphone, the only thing missing is volume control for video playback.
Is there a setting that can be changed or a solution I havent found?
    Thanks

Same problem with TV3. HDMI volume output is not adjustable, neither with the original Apple remote nor with any universal. Why ? Every simple settop-box is able to be volume adjusted. And a Mac Mini too ?!!!
I use a flatscreen TV. it has 3 HDMI inputs and one optical out for the audio going to an amp standing behind it. The sound of the TV is switched to go to the optical out.
HDMI 1 is connected to the satellite settop box with its  own remote control ( channel +/-, volume +/- etc. ) it work s fine.
HDMI 2 is connected to the MacMini HDMI out with its own remote control ( channel/music +/-, volume +/- ) it works fine too.
HDMI 3 was connected to Apple TV3 with its own remote control ( channel/music +/- but no volume ). I sent the TV3 back to Apple.
What's going wrong in the mind of Apple ? Why is the HDMI volume output of the MacMini adjustable with the Apple remote, and the TV3 not ?
I want not to discuss, wether a 4th remote control is useful or not. I don't want it. I want to adjust the volume with the originl remote control of the specific unit I use, because I need it anyway. It worked since years, but not with Apple TV3.
How can we help Apple to open the volume +/- function on their own remote control ?

  • No Hopes for SMOOTH Video Playback in Adobe Bridge ?

    Hi....
    System Specs
    MacPro Nehalem 16 CORES
    32 GB RAM - 4TB RAID0
    Lion 7.2
I have a bunch of video files that I would like to organize via Bridge.
Works ok but video playback is a slap in the face. Looks like jerky slow motion.
I have tried altering from hardware to software rendering. No remedy.
Bridge has been around for a long while and with each release the app actually performs worse.
Menus are ultimately slow in showing up and entering a folder with 16 video files (QT ProRes),
selecting them all, has Bridge freezing for 5 minutes supposedly creating previews.
Completey unuseable for video.... in my world !
    So my question is this...
Are their any plans for implementing Video Capabilities in Bridge
or is some kind of 3rd pty. plug-in available that will enable Bridge to playback what ANY other app incl. the QUicklook and Finder can Playback.
Funny thing is that this whole app has been created to BRIDGE between apps created by adobe. If Bridge was a REAL bridge I wouldn't dare cross it.

It has always seemed that Bridge has been the stepchild of Adobe since its inception and that Adobe spends precious little effort and resources on it.
Remember that Bridge was born as nothing more than Photoshop's Browser.  Nothing more.
Then, in a straight marketing stunt, Adobe decided artificially to lump together a number of totally unrelated applications into artificial "suites."  These are in fact totally non-related applications that were artificially bundled by fiat of bean counters and marketers.  The engineering teams for the individual point applications are totally independent from each other and are not only not in in the same building but in different cities, different states and, some, in different countries.  They have pathetically little communication among themselves.
The humble Photoshop Browser was renamed Bridge and jerry-rigged to serve as some sort of go-between vehicle among the applications also jerry-ringed into artificial suites.  (Definition of JERRY-RIGGED: organized or constructed in a crude or improvised manner <a jerry–rigged plan>.
Don't expect too much from Bridge, and don't complain about it too loudly, or you might find yourself among others who have been told, in effect, that "Adobe doesn't charge you for Bridge."  As a "free" byproduct, you get what you paid for.
In this context, just look at what has happened to the value of Adobe stock in the last five years: –28.20% (minus).
Compare that to Apple during the exact same period: +358.43%.

  • Video playback in Aperture

    Hi,
I've imported alot of video in Aperture, converting with handbrake and I can view it fine. My problem is the archaic viewing options that come with Aperture. It's very difficult to make the slider go back or forward. I like to watch my kids sports etc. and when I need to analysis a play, it's painful to try and go back 10 seconds or so. Is there a way to have a more powerful player be used as a default inside Aperture?
    Thanks for any insight.
    John

Your options are limited; there are ways to get what you want, but they are not as smooth as they should be. Video in Aperture is, as you've discovered, quite limited.  One shouldn't have to resort to external editors to simply play and analyze video.  You might suggest to Aperture that they provide video playback controls at least equivalent to QuickTime 10:  "Aperture→Provide Aperture Feedback".
    1.  Learn to use two fingers on the trackpad (if you aren't already).  Trackpads work better if you use one finger to click, and another finger to drag.  I use my index fingers.  For small adjustments to sliders, click-and-hold with one finger, then set your other finger on the pad, and roll that fingertip left or right.  (I'm on an early 2011 MBP {5.5}, running 10.6.8.)
    2.  For playback only (DO NOT edit this way), you might make your video files Referenced on import.  Then you can right-click a movie and select "Show in Finder".  From Finder, simply use Quick View (still not quite what you want), or open the file in QuickTime 10 (iirc, is part of the OS).  QuickTime 10 has much fuller playback options, including changing the speed both forward and backward, and using the arrow keys to step through frames.
    3.  If you prefer to use an external editor to view your movies, set one up via "Aperture→Preferences→External Video Player".  You can specify QuickTime 10, QuickTime 7 (you may have this pre-dumbed-down version of QT on your system if you've upgraded from previous versions of OS X), or any other editor.  I use MPEG Streamclip -- but it's likely overkill for what you want.  The problem with this method is that even if you don't make any changes, Aperture will create a second Master.  Since these Masters have no use to you, and take up significant storage space, you will want to delete them manually.  This process is flawed and not recommended.
Note that QT 7, QT 10, MPEG Streamclip, and others all have the ability to move forward or backward using the arrow keys.  This gives excellent control of playhead positioning, and will, I think, be exactly what you are looking for.
