Jerky output with PE9 using XviD 1.2.2

Hi,
I'm a long time user of Corel's Videostudio PRO X3, but I have now converted to Primiere Elements 9.
Need some help. Been searching the forum but haven't found anything useful to my problem.
I have a Canon Powershot camera recording in .MOV H.264 1280x720px and 23.976 fps.
Exporting (sharing) those clips from PE9 works fine if I chose MPG, MOV or WMV, but when trying to export (share) as .AVI and using the codec XviD (ver 1.2.2) the output is very jerky.
See the following clip that I uploaded to YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6I7VHh_OBZc
I rendered this clip on two different machines and it seems like on my i7 950 multi core CPU machine the result is worse compared to my old single-core AMD machine. I don't know if this single/multi-core CPU has anything to do with this.
Anyway, now using:
INTEL CORE I7 950 3.06GHZ 8MB S-1366 and 6 GB RAM
GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 460 OC 1 GB
INTEL X25-M 2.5" SSD disc
Any ideas what to do?
//Stefan

I exported the avi uncompressed and then used VirtualDub & Lame to create a good looking XviD. Guess that's the workaround I must use. Works fine, though.

  • Using XVID with Premiere Pro CS3?

I'm trying to export to video using XVID encoder, two pass. I start the first pass, an XVID status window appears, and then it appears to get stuck.
Has anyone here used XVID with Premiere Pro CS3? If so, any suggestions?

Thanks, I'll try the options on XVID. Currently I've been exporting to raw AVI, then using AutoGK. I normally don't do use XVID, but for a partcicular racing game, there are some telephone wires that appear less aliased with XVID mpeg4, than the encoders you get with Premiere. I've tried the mpeg2, mpeg4, and windows encoders, and don't get quite the same results. One of the final destinations is a you tube "hi-def" video. I also make windows movie files since they also can be viewed while streaming via Windows Movie player. My web host throttles throughput to 350kb per second now, so I keep most of my videos at 640x480 at around 1972kbps for the video, 128kbps for the audio. <br /><br />Example wmv video from racing game<br />http://jeffareid.net/nfsuc/nucreoznds.wmv<br /><br />Example youtube video same video (<ctrl>+click to open new window):<br />http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQuRfJMgsms&fmt=22<br /><br />Better example of youtube video, I don't know if it's content related or if youtube compressed better. This video was uploaded well before youtube had hi-def, but apparently they keep the original and re-encoded it for me. This is of a radio control glider at a slope site. • Video camera - ease of use with PE9?

I am wanting to buy a new video camera and move on from the mini DV tape format.  There are a number of new vidcams out there now, and I want to be sure I get one that will work well with PE9.  I do not have the capability to play blu-ray disks, nor does my computer have the grunt to handle Hi-Definition material.  So I'm guessing I need to look for a vidcam that is standard definition. Can anyone advise me as to what to look for in a video camera that would make a good match for PE9?  I don't do a lot of videotaping - mainly important family occasions - so don't need a fancy video camera.  However, I don't want to buy one and then come up against probs when importing stuff into PE9.

MiniDV is far and away the most efficient standard definition for editing. In fact, virtually every consumer-based editing system is built for it!
Unfortunately, you may have trouble finding a new one. I'm not sure if manufacturers are even still making them! (I picked my last one up used on eBay for $100.) If you do find one, I personally recommend you go with Sony brand.
The next step up is HDV, a hi-def tape-based format, which also works very well with programs like Premiere Elements. But it too is being phased out by manufacturers. Canon and Sony both make excellent HDV units.
The current consumer standard is AVCHD, for better or worse. It's an excellent hi-def format that records to a hard drive or storage card on the camcorder. Unfortunately, the video is highly compressed and you usually need at least a quad core or i7 processor to edit it.
But those are the options I recommend you work with. There are others -- like low-end hi-def and standard def camcorders that sell for $300 and less. But they usually aren't the best options if you're going to be doing any kind of "serious" videoing.

  • Using back SPDIF Motherboards outputs with X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series

I have an Asus Rampage Formula that comes with Digital Coaxial and Toslink outputs and a PCI-E sound card, Supreme FX II.
I was able to use both back SPDIF outputs with out any cable, you the card in the PCI-E slot, but I have change my card with a X-Fi Titanium Fatalty Pro Series, no im not able to use any of those outlets, im used the the Coax to my Home theater and the Toslink to me headphones.
Now I can only use the Toslink of the digital output of the X-Fi with my headphones but im not able to use the ports of the mobo to my home theater, is there a way I can use them? the card doesnt have a Coaxial output and thats the problem.
Also, my mobo has 4 pin SPDIF output port, so you can connect something there, but it seems that there are any cable from the output port of the mobo to the audio card....

  • Success with linux/mencoder/xvid on the Creative Zen

I just encoded a youtube video with mencoder (using the xvid codec) on Linux and I'm watching it on the zen right now.
I have to use the SD card on Linux for now, because I couldn't get gnomad2 to work with the Zen.

I use mencoder to encode tv programmes. The first argument is the input file and -o specifies the output file. IIRC the threads argument splits the process in two to make it more efficient on a dual core machine. the scaling and croping arguments keep the original aspect ratio. I found this on another website somewhere, but I can't remember where.
    mencoder /home/mythtv/recordings/2503_2007226232800.mpg -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=000:vhq:keyint=250:threads=2 -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=28 -ffourcc XVID -vf scale=320:-2,crop=320:240,expand=320:240 -o mighty-boosh-li've.avi
I usually put that on the SD card with videos, but libmtp => 0.2.4 works with the zen to copy files via mtp.

  • Excel output (with graphics)

    Hello,
I am using Oracle reports 10g 1.2.0 version.
We need to generate oracle reports in Excel format ("real" Excel, not delimited text) with tabular data and
    also graphics.
I used desformat=spreasheet. But is is giving only one worksheet.
I've found the "Output to Excel with Oracle9i Reports"
demo but the Excel template in the demo is very simple and doesn't have graphics.
    Then I've found the following:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/examples/excel_output/result/excel.jpg
    a) The above site has excel output with multiple worksheets.
which is similar to what we need but I wasn't able to find related source (excel_emp.jsp).
    b) Using jsp if we can ahieve multiple worksheets with grapahics, please provide us examples.
    c) http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/getstart/demonstrations/excel/index.html --This site is not working to find the demo.
Could you please help me in this?
    Thank you for any help.

    carla,
the example you mentioned uses the JSP web source that is only available in oracle9i reports.
in theory you can create any excel output. it is just a matter of creating the template and then adding the reports tags to populate it with data.
you could then use reports' URL engine to produce files from this output.
there are certainly ways to do it, but they are only available in oracle9i reports (9.0.2 and higher)
    regards,
    philipp

  • To save time, could I get away with just using ProRes Proxy?

Might be a dumb question.  But please play along with me...
I've been battling with FCP-X since it first came out.  Beach balls, crashes, failed auto saves, you name it.  Sluggishness is my middle name.  But I think it might be because I'm trying to force too much quality through my older, less powerful machines and my little firewire 400 hard drive.  All three of my Mac are 3-4 years old, all are from the old "Core 2 Duo" era (not quad core processors), and are all maxed out at 4GB of RAM.  While I've read that many people are having performance problems with FCP-X even on brand spankin' new suped-up Mac Pros with lots more horsepower than I'm running, I've long thought that my machines and their lack of power by today's standards may be at the heart of my sluggishness problem, especially given that most of the material I work with is shot in 1080 HD.  (I've never actually tested it in FCP-X, but I'm assuming that things would speed along more like I've been used to in the past if I would just do everything in Standard Definition 480, but that ain't gonna happen.)
Like many, I shoot most everything in 1080 HD (usually 24p, sometimes 30), unless I'm occasionally shooting 720 HD at 60i for later slowing down to slo-mo.
Here's my question:  Most everything I edit is for web delivery, and 99 percent of it is for my own use (not clients).  Mostly podcast-like stuff, although occasionally I'll create something for my business website.  Most of what I do is talking head type stuff, not a lot of motion (except for the 720/60i slo-mo stuff, which usually has some motion, which is why I shoot it at 60i for slowing down).  Most of what I shoot is green screen talking heads, intended to be keyed in front of some innocuous background like some of the generators in FCP-X.  I want it to look good.  Even great.  But given the limitations of power on my machines, I also don't want to invest an eternity in rendering and processing time.  The work I'm doing with video just isn't that important.  It's mostly for grins.
Until last night, I had been working exclusively in ProRes422 (aka "Optimized").  But last night I shot some footage and imported it into FCP-X, encoding it ONLY in ProRes Proxy.  And frankly, I couldn't discern any difference.  It looked every bit as good as the 422 stuff I'd shot before.  There was absolutely no difference to my naked eye.  That said, the footage I shot last night to test this out was not shot in front of the green screen (I'll test that out today or tonight), so maybe the Proxy footage won't key as well.  (I've been stunned at how good the keyer is in FCP-X, but up to this point I've only been keying ProRes422 footage, not Proxy.)  But really, based on just eyeballing the footage, I couldn't tell the difference between the Proxy footage and all the other footage I'd shot previously that had been imported and converted to "Optimized" ProRes422.
I'm not looking to deliver anything for broadcast television (if I were, I'd for sure use 422).  I'm not doing any feature film type stuff.  My video work consists mainly of stuff just for me, for my own personal amusement (and for the amusement of anyone who might watch it on the web).  It's intended for YouTube, Vimeo, or occasionally (in smaller dimensions than 1920x1080) for deployment on my company website.  Mostly, it's just me doing podcast-type stuff.  Occasionally I'll shoot and edit something for church, or for friends.  I like to think the production values of my stuff tend to be higher than, say, the footage Aunt Delores shot at Uncle Ralph's birthday party (okay, A LOT higher than that!).  But my stuff isn't going to air on "Good Morning Flatbush" either (unless, on the off chance it should happen to go viral).
So let me make my question as clear as possible:  Could I not get away with just using ProRes Proxy throughout my entire work flow, end to end, never switching over to ProRes 422 even when exporting?  Honestly, it has taken hours just to render the keyed green screen footage on a 15 minute video, and just the other night, it took the better part of 4 hours (after it was already rendered) to export a 15 minute ProRes422 sequence to YouTube (and then the darn thing timed out, essentially wasting all my time).  I'd rather just stay in Proxy the whole way through if doing so would streamline my workflow without compromising too much quality in the "look" of the video.  Based on my very limited use of Proxy (just testing it out last night for the first time), I couldn't tell the difference.  Maybe for web deployment, Proxy is all I really need.
Have any of you just stayed in Proxy the whole way through, never switching to 422 even when exporting?  Might this be an acceptable work flow for some of us, especially those of us on older, less powerful machines?  Is this a viable solution?  Do any of you work this way?  What's your level of satisfaction?
    Thoughts?

A lot of what I'm shooting is being shot on a Canon XA-10.  Some (and certainly all of the 720 footage, but some of the 1080) is shot on a 7D.  And still more is shot on either an iPhone 4S, or even on a Flip Ultra (720p, 30fps).
Most is shot on the XA-10.
What I'm trying to avoid is the excessive render times (doesn't the ProRes 422 footage have to render as well?), and the ridiculously long times it takes to export.  Would all that not be reduced significantly by sticking to Proxy the whole way?  And what would the trade-off be?  I mean, I honestly can't see any discernible difference.  Maybe I will when I try to pull a decent key.  (Haven't gotten that far yet in my Proxy experimentation.)
Of course, editing in Proxy and outputting using 422 requires that FCP-X encode to BOTH when importing, right?  Doesn't that add yet another bit of time to the overall process?
I'm trying to streamline, and to reduce the overall amount of time I'm spending doing this stuff.

  • Is it possible to create a Webservice in BI which takes XML as an input and gives PDF as output with an additional requirement that Siebel expecting the XSD from BI to send data in the BI requested format

Is it possible to create a Webservice in BI which takes XML as an input and gives PDF as output with an additional requirement that Siebel expecting the XSD from BI to send data in the BI requested format. Siebel wants to send the data as xml to BI but not sure of the BI capabilities on giving WSDL embedded with XSD (input is a hierarchical)

    Hi All,
I am able to fulfil above requirement. Now I am stuck at below point. Need your help!
Is there any way to UPDATE the XML file attached to a Data Definition (XML Publisher > Data Definition) using a standard package or procedure call or may be an API from backend? I am creating an XML dynamically and I want to attach it to its Data Definition programmatically using SQL.
Please let me know if there is any oracle functionality to do this.
If not, please let me know the standard directories on application/database server where the XML files attached to Data Definitions are stored.
    For eg, /$APPL_TOP/ar/1.0/sql or something.
    Regards,
    Swapnil K.

  • Digital Output With Timer (Simulation)

Hello everyone, I just learned how to make LabVIEW program a week ago. I try to make a simulation of Digital Output by LabVIEW (my attachment). In this simulation I have a slider as an input (0-10 V), two numeric control (upper limit and bottom limit), a waveform chart that plot those 3 value, and two boolean LED (P0.0 and P0.1) as an indicator. In this simulation you can fill any number (between 0-10) in the numeric control as a limit for your slider input. If the input from a slider exceed those upper and bottom limit then the boolean LED will turn on, P0.0 if exceed upper limit and P0.1 if exceed bottom limit. The problem is I don't know how to make timer for those boolean LED. As example:
    1) Make an input from slider,
    2) If input (1) exceed the upper limit,P0.0 will turn on for 5 second, then turn of for 10 second,
    3) If in that 10 second you change the input back to normal (between upper and bottom limit) then P0.0 will stay turn of until the input from slider exceed the upper limit again,
4)If in that 10 second you didn't change the input (stay exceed the upper limit) then P0.0 will repeat the process (2) until you the input from slider back to normal.
(Same process for input that exceed the bottom limit).
Can you help me to make this timer? Thank You (I'm sorry I made a double post):newbie

    Hello Juventom,
As I understand it you want to be continuously checking the value of the sliding bar and comparing that to the upper and lower limit controls whilest also chaning the LED booleans to true for 5 seconds then false for 10 seconds if the sliding bar value is outside of the limits.
To do this you would probably be best using a parallel loop design, where you have 3 while loops in place of the one you have currently. Each one of these while loops would be responsible for a part of your program (e.g. the top one would display your values on the graph and the second one who check the sliding bar value against the upper limit and then turn on the LED, etc)
I've found this tutorial about multiple loop programs and I think you should look at the section entitled "Parallel Execution"
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3749
This way you can use normal delay VIs but when they run they only pause that loop rather than the whole program.
Please let me know how you get on with this, and ask me if you need further help.

  • PDF Output with javadoc

Somebody once asked how to create PDF output with javadoc, so here's some work in progress:
I am currently creating a PDF doclet which creates directly PDF output from javadoc. It's still in alpha stage, because it does not yet create an index or navigation frame (which is mandatory for the PDF to be useful), and most HTML tags are not yet interpreted. But that's gonna improve over the next few weeks.
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfdoclet
    Bye,
    Marcel

    Hai Marcel,
    How to run this pdfdoclet?
    I tried like:
javadoc -doclet com.tarsec.javadoc.pdfdoclet.PDFDoclet -docletpath d:\For_PDF_Doc\itext-0.92.jar;d:\For_PDF_Doc\pdfdoclet.jar *.java
    And the result is:
    Loading source file Test.java...
    Constructing Javadoc information...
    pdfdoclet: >> OPTION 0: -doclet
    pdfdoclet: >> OPTION 1: -docletpath
    pdfdoclet: Content completed, create index
    pdfdoclet: *** PDF DOCUMENT api.pdf COMPLETED ***
    Nothing is there in api.pdf!

  • Urgent ! XML Output with header, body, trailer

    Gurus,
I am trying to use Report to output an xml file with header, body and trailer regions. However, I find that the tool does not allow me to create a header region with info like <report_date>, <report_name>, <report_desc> etc.
Moreover, the tool is not flexible that in the group level, it always automatically fills in the outer tag for me even if I intentionally leave it blank.
So, except using the XML file output function, is there any other way outputing XML file using the tool? Otherwise, I may need to hard code a program to do so!
    Thanks for your advice!
    Shoshi

    Hi
Reports XML file is driven by your queries and groups therein. This means that the groups (and break groups) are represented in XML form.
It is not driven by the layout. So your header region does not appear.
What I suggest is that you need to create a report level formula column in the Data Model. The formula returns date, name and description etc. Since this is a part of Data Model now, it will appear in the XML output.

  • How to replace a "notfound" output with a null value?

    hi,
I'm just getting a output of "Rows Notfound" for a script..
instead of this , i just need to show the output with a record as null value or some value..
do we have any option to use this in oracle..

Apart from capturing with an exception in PL/SQL code, if you're wanting something in a script as pure SQL, you'd have to generate an additional row and only select that where no data is found e.g...
    SQL> ed
    Wrote file afiedt.buf
1  select ename from emp where ename = 'FRED'
      2  union all
3* select 'No Data' from dual where not exists (select * from emp where ename = 'FRED')
    SQL> /
    ENAME
    No Data
SQL>Of course this does effectively double-up on the queries being executed, so if you're dealing with a heavily complex query, it may be best just just have the regular exception come out, but then this will also depend on your actual requirements and why you want to do this in the first place.

  • Formatted HTML output with Spry regions - is it possible?

I have recently begun using the XML export extension in
conjunction with an Access database to output dynamic data into a
page with a Spry master/detail setup. So far, my simple example is
going great, but I've run into a snag that I need some help with.
To explain what I'm doing - it's a simple article page with
the list of articles on the left with the title and date and the
article title and full contents on the right hand side. So far it's
all working very well, updating in real time when I click an
article title on the left. The problem is the output with this one
field which stores not only text, but also HTML formatting that is
generated by a wysiwyg editor used on the article creation side of
this little app. This HTML formatted content is the article body
and is stored in a field named the same - "body". With traditional
ASP, the HTML formatting displays as expected and all is well, but
with Spry, it doesn't output formatted HTML, but instead shows the
content and HTML code together as text. How can I get this one
field ("body") to be output so all the HTML formatting is shown?
This is my simple page example. Click through and you'll see
    what I mean.
    http://www.shoestodyefor.com/ajax.asp
Here's the section of code in question regarding the output
on that right hand panel where the body is displayed for each
    article:
    <div spry:detailregion="ds1">
    {title}<br />
    {entryDate}<br />
    <br />
    {body}
    /div>
Is it possible to have that {body} section shown so the
dynamically created HTML code from the wysiwyg editor is displayed
    correctly?

The version of Spry that ships with Dreamweaver CS3 (Spry
    1.4) doesn't
support the type of output created by the XML Export
    extension.
This issue has been corrected in Spry 1.5, but no plans have
    been made
public for integrating Spry 1.5 into Dreamweaver CS3. You
    would need to
    download Spry 1.5 from
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/.
    Details
of how to hand-code the fix for output from XML Export are
    here:
